Mocha just arrived from the Palm Beach Race Track. She only had two official races and fell in her first one and finished last in her second one. She was slow so was retired young. Mocha is a small girl that raced at 57lbs. She just turned 2 on December 1st. Her sire is Odd Skill and her dam is a girl that we placed named Rico's Tignanello. Mocha is actually being fostered with her mom. Mocha was pretty interested in the cats that she saw at the vet's office so her foster home will work with her with their cats to see if she can live with them. She is a happy, outgoing, bouncy girl that loves everyone she meets. Very sweet girl that traveled really well too. More as we get to know her.

Ticket just arrived from Florida but doesn't have any official races at a track there. He actually raced at Southland in Arkansas and only raced at total of 42 races. Ticket will turn 4 on December 15th and raced at 75lbs. He was very fast, getting up to A level at Southland and even competing in a Stakes race. Ticket looks like he had a minor injury in January of 2017 and was given a break from racing until April of 2017. He only raced one race in April and finished 5th in that race. He must have re-injured himself in that race, because he didn't race again for almost a year. He started back racing in February of 2018. He never returned to his previous speed and only won one race at the lowest D level. He mostly finished toward the back of the pack in his next 13 races. Whatever injury he had, healed up very well, to allow him to go back to racing at the fastest track. He was moved to a lower level track in Florida in hopes he would be a winner there. He never actually raced there and the decision was made recently to retire him. Ticket seems like a calm, friendly guy. He traveled well on the trip up. He passed his cat test easily with barely a sniff. He is very quiet in his kennel and is good on leash. Ticket's sire is the famous Flying Penske and his dam is Kelsos Uptosnuff.

He won't turn 2 until February 17th. Country raced at 74lbs. His sire is Rico's Vintage adn his dam is RCK Sundancer. He seems like a friendly sweet guy and traveled well. Country was pretty interested in a cat he saw at a distance so may not be cat friendly but we will test him and introduce him to cats properly after he finishes up at the vet. Own it just arrived from trainer Kathi Lacasse at the Sanford Orlando Race Track. He is a young guy that was too slow in training and just couldn't keep up so he never actually had an official race. He won't turn 2 until July 1st of next year. His sire is Pat C Sabbath and his dam is JT's Pat Benatar. Own it doesn't have a racing weight since he never raced but we would guess him to be in the mid 70s. He is a friendly friendly happy guy that didn't seem too worried about all the changes in his life. Own it passed his small dog test easily so we are hopefully he won't want to chase kitties either. Really sweet boy. He started out wanting to help drive by getting into the front seat. He settled down fast and laid down for the rest of the trip though so travels really well. He slept all night quietly in his crate the first night in his foster home and only whined when he needed to go outside the next day. He seems like a really nice easy going guy for one so young.

Ali just arrived from the Blanchard Kennel at Orange Park Race Track in Florida. She also raced at Dubuque in IA and Naples Ft Myers in FL. She raced 121 races and was good, getting up to A level and competing in a couple of Stakes races. Her sire is the famous KC and All and her dam is Boc's Snow Queen. Ali turned 4 on Nov 14th and raced at 60bs. She is a light fawn with a blue instead of black nose and blue on her ears. Ali is a cute little girl with a very sweet friendly personality. She traveled well. When she had her vetting our vet discovered that she has an erratic heartbeat that slows down dangerously when under anesthesia. She will need very careful vetting with only very skilled greyhound vets any time she is put under for the rest of her life. Ali did not pass her cat test. She was much too interested in getting the cat. Once the cat slapped her she did stop and didn't want to get near that cat again, so could possibly be trainable with the right cat. Due to her initial excitement level about the cat, we think it would be safer to put her in a home with no kitties though. She seemed fine with a small 15lb Italian greyhound she met and didn't even get up off her bed when he came in the room. Ali liked the small kids she met. Ali's foster home has decided that they want to keep her.

Steve came in from a kennel at the Sarasota Race track. He only raced 20 races and only won one of those so he was retired young. Steve turned 2 on January 6th. He is an adorable little guy that raced at just 64lbs, which is really small for a boy. He has the cutest, unusual for a greyhound, roman nose!  His sire is TK Quick Strike and his dam is Oh Yeah Baby. Steve was too interested in chasing the cats to be able to live with kitties. He was great with a small white dog he met though. Since he has arrived Steve has been really friendly and happy but his trainer says that he is a sensitive guy that has just a bit of a timid side to him occasionally. He wanted to help drive at first, then settled down and went to sleep on the trip up and didn't seem shy or timid at all. Steve seems like he will be a playful, fun guy but only for short spurts. He loves to lay around most of the day and is calm for a young guy. He likes the kids in his foster home and is very well behaved. What a great guy and so cute!! Steve was adopted briefly by a trucker and was great with life on the road for for the first month or so. He seemed to be happiest when they stopped and he stayed home so he is looking for another home where he doesn't have to travel as much. He is a wonderful traveler, he just doesn't want to be on the road all the time.

So Bebe is not available for adoption at this time. Bebe raced 170 races and got up to B level winning some and placed a lot. She turned 4 on July 13th. Bebe has been around children from 5 to 13 in her racing kennel. The kids help their mom care for the dogs and curl up in her kennel with her and take naps when they get tired. Bebe passed her cat and small dog tests easily and is living with a kitten that she is good with. She has settled into foster care well and is very sweet and well behaved. Ryan inititally came in from the Sanford Orlando Race Track. He is a cute white boy with brindle patches over his ears and eyes and a patch on his side. He is a smaller guy that raced at 64lbs. He just turned 5 on May 3rd. His sire is Flying Westover and his dam is A Bar Seclusion. He raced 47 races at Tri State in WV and Sanford Orlando before he retired. Ryan is very outgoing and sweet. He wasn't bothered at all by the move from the track and adapted quickly to home life. He seems pretty easy going and confident. Ryan was adopted in 2016 by a family and has lived with them for 2 years. They recently decided they didn't want the responsibility of dogs anymore and returned Ryan along with his housemate Quirky. They said the dogs were very good and it wasn't anything the dogs did wrong that caused them to be returned, they just didn't want dogs anymore. Fortunately we had a home looking for two dogs to adopt together so both boys have been moved to her. They will stay with her permanently if all goes well.

Quirky came in from the Birmingham Track Adoption Kennel. He was a good racer there racing most of his 178 races at the top A level. He is a larger guy that raced at 80lbs. He will turn 8 on December 15th. His sire is an Irish import Ballymac Flight* and his dam is BD's Harper. Quirky did not pass his cat test so needs a home with no kitties. He did respond OK to the small dog he was tested with and realized quickly that it was a dog and not a bunny. Quirky's was initially fostered in a townhouse and was very quiet in his crate there. He was briefly in another apartment home and complained about being left there, so may not be a great apartment dog. He is a very easy, calm guy that would be great for a first time greyhound owner. He is a sweet guy that loves people. Great personality! Quirky has been in a home for 4 years. For a couple years he was living as an only dog, then they adopted another male greyhound, Ryan. Both boys were recently returned to us by because his family decided that they no longer wanted to have dogs. They said it absolutely was not a problem with either of the dogs, they were good dogs. We had a home wanting to adopt two bonded dogs together, so Ryan and Quirky are being fostered by her and will stay permanently if all goes well.

Adoption Status: Pending to the McMahon Family of Greenville SC

Sweet Senior! Leena raced at Derby Lane, Naples Ft Myers, Sarasota, and Palm Beach Race Tracks. She was moved around a lot looking for a track she could be competitive at. After 25 races and only 1 win her owners decided she wasn't cut out to be a racer and retired her.  We placed a couple other pups her mom had too. Leena is a pretty, red brindle female with white on her feet, chest and tail that can be sensitive and a bit timid at first. DOB 10/17/06, she is 11 and will turn 12 on October 17th. Since she is a senior Leena qualifies for our reduced adoption fee of $250. Leena has been in an adoptive home since December of 2010. Her family is having to move in with their father to care for him and they cannot bring their 3 greyhounds with them. They have made the decision to re-home their 3 senior greyhounds Leena, Rumble and Razor. Leena and Rumble are both 11 and very bonded. They sleep curled up together and often choose to sleep in the same crate together and do not like if if the are put into crates separately. It would be nice to find them a home together, but we understand that may not be possible, so will consider placing them individually. Razor is 8 years old and his owners believe he would do fine without the other two. All have the same sire Maryville Rumble and all are brindles. Leena's dam is Too Shy To Say. They have been living with cats. They have not lived with kids but have been fine with children that they have met. The photos we have now of them are from when they were younger.

Sweet Senior! Rumble is a mid sized 73lb, friendly, brindle guy. He raced 9 races years ago at Jefferson County Kennel Club in Florida before they closed. DOB is 3/27/07 so he is a senior that qualifies for our reduced adoption fee of $250. He was adopted way back in 2009 out of our Tri County Tech program and has been in a home since then. HIs family is having to move in with their father to take care of him and will not be able to bring their 3 senior greyhounds with them. They are asking for our help rehoming all three of their dogs. Rumble is very laid back guy. He is a leaner and wants to be with people. He is very bonded with their 11 year old female named Leena and we would love to place them together if we can. We understand that finding someone to take two 11 year olds at the same time is not something that may be possible, so we will consider placing them separately too. Their other 8 year old greyhound, Razor, would be fine being placed separately. All three dogs have the same sire Maryville Rumble. Rumble's dam is Regall Redrocket. The photos of Rumble were from when he first arrived. All three of the dogs have been living with cats. They have not lived with children but have been great with the kids they have met.
