Cat Tolerance:

Fostered by (location):

Adoption Status: Adopted by the Oneal Family 1/27/26

Iris just arrived from the Tri-State Race Track in WV. She is a young girl that never had an official race. She had 11 schooling races but always finished toward the back of the pack, so she was retired. Her last schooling run was 11/12/25. Her sire is the famous Lonesome Cry and her dam is RPG Black Ice making her a half sister to Ivan that arrived at the same time. Her DOB is 2/3/24 so she turns 2 on February 3rd. Iris's foster mom says she is a little doll baby. She is very gentle and quiet in her crate. She does bark an alarm if she thinks you need to know something but doesn't bark often. Her first morning she let her foster mom know that her coffee was done when the machine started sputtering. She is settling in well but she definitely isn't a fan of change. Her initial response to anything unknown is to startle. She has a very soft personality and responds to the lightest correction. Iris wants love and petting but can be cautious at first. Iris blossoms more and more each day, and given a little time she is going to be a fun, playful, sweet and silly girl, once she has adjusted to home life. Iris passed her cat and small dog tests so should be fine to live with either. She also likes children.

Austin just arrived from Tri State Race Track in WV. He is a red male, born on 08/01/2023. His Sire is the famous Djays Octane and his Dam is AMF Lela. Austin only raced 8 races and actually won 2 of those and came in second in a couple more. He was retired for unknown reasons on August 8, 2025 and has been at the track since then. Austin is a small male that weighs just 65lbs. This little stud muffin does have a high prey drive and mistakes cats and small dogs for bunnies, so needs a home without them. Austin may be just over 2, but no one has told him he is an adult. This guy is the life of the party! He is a joyful, slightly spastic love bug—and oh yeah, Stunning!! He has so much personality, he doesn’t know what to do with himself. He isn’t truly high energy, but does initially present himself that way because of his youthful personality and love of life. Because of his bouncy energetic personality we think he would do best in a home with older children only. Austin is generally quiet in his crate. He is great with the other large and medium dogs in his foster home, but loves people more than other dogs, so will likely be a good single dog home candidate. Austin LOVES toys!!  He will even do some fetching—but should always be rewarded for bringing the toy back, so it doesn’t become a game of keep away.

Ivan is a sweet, friendly guy that needs a home with no kitties. He passed his small dog test so could live with a small dog. He also likes kids. Ivan raced at 75lbs so is a mid sized guy. His foster homes says Ivan is just about perfect. He is a nice medium in most everything - need of attention, energy, food drive and play. He can be a little whiny in his crate so may not be a dog suitable for apartment living.

Phoebe raced 173 races, starting her career at Tri-State in WV in December of 2016. She got up to the top A level there briefly. Then she was moved to Birmingham AL to race in in March of 2018. Phoebe raced most of the rest of her races at the top A level there except for a brief visit to the Sanford Orlando Track in FL Phoebe's last race was July 6th of 2019. She was placed by the track adoption kennel at Birmingham then and has been in a wonderful loving home since then with her housemate Milo(also available for adoption). Their owner was admitted to hospice and they were turned over to former volunteers at the Birmingham adoption center. That adoption kennel was closed in 2020 when that track closed so they reached out to us to see if we could find a family for them. We had hoped to place them together but they didn't seem to interact much and did very well in separate foster homes. They should be fine to be adopted separately.  Phoebe is a super sweet calm senior girl with a very soft personality.  She passed her cat and small dog tests easily and is good with kids.  She is healthy and is in great shape for a 10 year old but is going to lose some teeth when she has her dental. Phoebe's sire is Flying Titanium and her dam is Flying Zinc. Her DOB is 8/23/15.

Liz raced 33 races at Orange Park Race Track in Florida. She wasn't a very good racer and only won 3 races. She raced from November 2018 to April of 2019. After retirement she was placed by Greyhounds As Pets of NE Florida that is now closed. We were asked to help re-home her after her family divorced. Liz's DOB is 3/26/17. Her sire is Last Outlaw and her dam is Super C McKenzie. Liz is a sweet senior girl that loves everyone especially children. She passed her cat test and small dog test so should be fine to live in just about any home. She is not good on steps and had trouble just going up and down the 5 steps at her foster home. She is healthy, but does have corns on her feet. Liz isn't going to be comfortable going for long walks on sidewalks or hard ground. Dogs with corns usually appreciate walking on grass and lots of soft rugs. Removing corns surgically is not recommended because they grow back quickly and it is a painful procedure for the dog.

Milo raced 80 races at the Birmingham AL race course. He started racing in December of 2017 and was an excellent racer racing at the top A level most of his career. In February of 2019 the vet did not let him race due to an injury. He stayed at the track kennel while healing until the end of July. Milo ran a couple more races poorly at the end of July. On August 6th, 2019 the vet scratched him out of what would have been his last race and he was retired. We didn't get information on what the problem was. Whatever it was, it has long since healed and Milo is a healthy 9 year old. He raced at 64lbs, so is a smaller male. Milo was adopted in 2019 through the Birmingham Track Adoption Group. Their owner also had another greyhound Phoebe (also available for adoption). Unfortunately his owner was just admitted to hospice. Volunteers in Birmingham helped get both of the dogs to us. That adoption group has been closed since the track closed in 2020. We had hoped to place both dogs together, but they seemed to mostly ignore each other and didn't seem very bonded so we think they will be fine being placed in separated homes. Milo is a sweet, senior guy at 9 years old. He is friendly and is a silly, life of the party kind of guy. He likes everyone including children. He also passed his small dog test, but is too interested in chasing cats to be able to live with kitties. His sire is the famous Kiowa Myth and his dam is Flying Unrest. Milo's DOB is 7/21/16.

Rosie arrived in January from Australia. She race 50 races there and won 4 of those and placed in a lot. Her last race was October 17th. Rosie's sire is Magic Sprite and her dam is Isla's Style. She was born on October 17th of 2019 and she raced at 61lbs. Our friends Down Under describe her as a real love. A cheerful, active Greyhound, who loves meeting new people and seeks out affection. She's alert and curious in new environments but generally is calm and stress-free. Rosie gets along great with other larger dogs. She also had a small Italian Greyhound buddy named CC. She is a bit too excited around fluffy small dogs, so we think she needs a home without those. On hot days, Rosie loves to paddle around in her pool. She also walks beautifully on lead, never pulling, and enjoys a relaxed stroll. If you're looking for a happy, social, and playful companion, Rosie could be the perfect fit for you! Rosie has been in an adoptive home since shortly after she arrived, but became uncomfortable with their small child. She is looking for another home without small kids.

Charlie just arrived from Australia. He never received a racing name and never completed his registration process, so never actually raced. He was tattooed though, in his right ear VLTEY. He is also microchipped 956000014528586. Charlie is a gorgeous black male with a lot of flashy white on his chest. He is young and just turned 2 on June 3rd. Because he isn't registered we don't know who his sire and dam are. He was around small Fox Terriers at his farm in Australia and was good with them, so should be fine in a home with small dogs. He also passed his cat test without much interest. He has been around kids and likes them. Because he is young, he is more energetic and playful, so will need some exercise and fun in his life.   Update!  Charlie had an unfortunate kitty visitor pop into his outdoor pen, making him extremely interested in cats now.  We are changing his listing to not safe with kitties, and he is once again available for adoption.  He is a fabulous dog much loved by his current family, but with a large number of cats roaming their neighborhood, it's just not a safe or comfortable situation for him now.  Someone very lucky is going to fall in love with this boy!

Tac will be arriving from Australia in January.  He is described by our friends Down Under as a calm and independent Greyhound who enjoys spending time with his family.. he's great on the lead, loves sniffing and exploring new environments, and is always responsive when called.  While he's relaxed, Tac can be a bit cautious in new situations, taking his time to adjust at his own pace.  Tac loves to join the family on outings, like picking the kids up from school or heading to the pet shop to help choose tasty treats.  He enjoys the attention he gets along the way is is always happy to be included in the fun.  if you're looking for a laid-back, easygoing greyhound who enjoys family time and a little adventure, Tac could be the perfect addition to your home.  UPDATE!  Handsome boy Tactical Shot (Tac) is available again for adoption.  Although his family loved him, they made the hard decision to have him start over.  He's made it clear that in their home, he wasn't completely settled into the pack order of having a small child.  Because of this we are changing his listing to "older children only" just to be safe.  Otherwise he's a wonderful dog and ready to try again in a new place moving forward!

Fostered by (location):

Adoption Status: Adopted by the Bray family of Williamston, SC 5.22.25

Max just came in from the Celtic Hounds Kennel at the Sanford Orlando Race Track. He is arriving with two of his sisters Silver and Lola. He and his sister Lola look just alike. He started out his career in Orlando. He showed some promise as a racer so was moved to Dubuque where he raced briefly at A level. Since Max was good, he was moved up to a tougher track, Southland. The competition there was too stiff, and he only won 1 race, so he was moved back to Dubuque and then to Wheeling. When he wasn't able to win another race at either of those tracks he was moved to Derby Lane. He only won one more race there, so was moved back to Sanford Orlando where his sisters were racing. He was retired after just a few races there. Max is a flashy black guy with a white chest and white feet. He raced at 72lbs and will turn 5 on July 20th. His sire is the famous Oshkosh Slammer and his dam is USS Time To Go. Max travels well. Max got along fine with the small dog he met. He appeared to have already met cats before. As soon as he saw the cat he turned his face to the side and carefully backed away to avoid the claws. Max seems like a pretty calm guy that has been a little overwhelmed so far. He seems like he will warm up after a day or two though. He seemed to like the kids he met and wagged happily. He can be vocal in his kennel occasionally so may not be a great apartment or townhouse dog. So far he hasn't been a very good eater, probably due to the stress of the move.   UPDATE!  Max has been loving retirement for over 5 years with a wonderful family, but their situation is changing.  Through no fault of his own, he is once again available for the perfect family who's been waiting for a senior to share their home with.  He hasn't been living with either small dogs or cats, so retesting would be required before placement with those.

Mr. Banner

Mr. Banner
Pet/Kennel Name:
Hulk/Griffin
Age:
4.5
Color/Gender:
Black Male
Cat Tolerance:
No
Small Dog Tolerance:
Yes
Good w/ Children:
Yes
Fostered by (location):
Broquet (Greenville SC)
Adoption Status: Adopted by the Parker family of Pfafftown, NC 5/16/25

From our Australia Friends:  Hulk is an energetic and loving greyhound with a heart full of enthusiasm!  He is a fantastic walker who enjoys going for long walks and would thrive in a home with an active lifestyle.  He walks beautifully on leash, making every outing a pleasure.  Hulk is incredibly stable and confident, adjusting easily to new surroundings.  He is a social butterfly, always eager to engage with people and share his joy- his tail is constantly wagging in excitement!  If you're looking for a happy, active, and affectionate companion, Hulk is ready to bring lots of love and energy into your life.

Hulk's foster mom says he is quite the dog!  He was born on October 1, 2020 so is currently 4.5 years old.  He has no exposure to children, but definitely knows he is way too interested in cats to live with them.  He passed his test for tolerance with small dogs.  He is listed as 34kg, which converts to about 75 lbs.  We feel that Hulk will do best living with a family who has a yard for him to exercise in, and the desire to be very active on a daily basis.  More as we get to know him!

Update from his foster home!  Mr Banner/Hulk is a black male, born on 10/01/202.  He is out of Zambora Brockie (sire) and Bonna Bale (dam).   Hulk/Banner needs a forever home!  He is looking for a family with structure that is active in some way (hikers, campers, RVers, dog sports) with no small children or cats.  If this sounds like you, please read on!

This boy is one of those special greys that has confidence to spare.  He is bold, curious, and athletic, with tons of personality- not to mention he is handsome!  This gives him "bomb proof" personality.  He will investigate everything in his environment, high or low, small space or big.  He is NOT hyper, just has an insatiable curiosity.  Because of that, he seems almost indifferent to people- but that is a lie!  He does enjoy attention and cuddles (his foster mom can pick him up and put him in her lap without him turning into a stiff board) and is gentle to handle.  Also for a dog with his strength and interests, his is very good on leash.  He is also very food motivated and has been wonderful in his kennel.  He does have high prey drive (no cats), but is fine with dogs of all sizes- though he has no problem speaking up if the other dog is doing something he doesn't like. Banner is a boy that is going to test some boundaries, and therefore needs a definite structured environment where he has clearly defined boundaries.  He has exhibited sleep startle- thus no small children.  (He does like kids.  He is just a bit much for small ones.)  His foster mom is working on training with the sleep startle issues.  He was originally called Hulk, but his foster home says he responds better to Banner.  He is not a destructive dog by nature, but with his curiosity he does tend to bump into things.  He is mellowing with more house time, but isn't likely to be the normal "couch potato" greyhound.  Banner is a very special, unique greyhound that will blossom with a family who will give him the boundaries and adventures he needs to truly be comfortable forever.

Adoption Status: Adopted by the Carver family of Pendleton, SC 5.10.25

From our Aussie friends:  Junior is a sweet black male greyhound who's all about the love and fun!  He's a big fan of bum scratches and will happily lean in for as many as you're willing to give.  He enjoys his walks and is a dream on the lead, making him the perfect companion for outdoor adventures.  He'd love a yard where he can run around, whether it's chasing toys or playing with kids.  With his friendly, easy going nature and love for activity, Junior would make a great addition to an active household looking for a fun and affectionate buddy.

Junior will turn 5 in October.  He tested safe with an Italian Greyhound and a Cavoodle, but was not able to relax with the cats.  He's also good with children.  Junior is listed at 68 lbs so is a nice, medium-sized boy.  More as we get to know this awesome boy!  Updated testing!  Junior has been tested again for his tolerance with cats.  Unfortunately he's one of those greyhounds whose responses are inconsistent depending on the cat, how he feels, and the situation in which he is tested.  He MAY be trainable if adopted by an owner with experience with both cats and greyhounds- an owner comfortable with consistent and clear testing and the ability to keep everyone safe.  Because of that designation, we are currently marking him as NOT safe because most owners don't fit that experience level.  If you are interested in adoption and feel that you may fit this description, feel free to contact us directly for more information.  He is a marvelous dog but our first rule is safety, while also giving him every option to have a happy and peaceful retirement.

From our Australian friends:  Meet Frank, a strong and affectionate greyhound with a heart of gold!  Frank can be a bit strong on the leash and pulls at first, but he settles into a nice rhythm and responds well to his handler.  He comes when called and is loving towards people, offering positive consent during interactions.  While he might tuck his tail when things get a bit overbearing, he quickly recovers and remains calm.  Frank is relaxed around other dogs and has lived with another greyhound, walking well beside them.  His gentle nature and ability to adapt makes him a great companion for anyone looking for a loving and social dog.

Frank turns 7 on February 21st.  He hasn't spent time with children, but his incoming testing confirms that he is safe with small dogs.  He is too interested in kitties to live safely with them.  His weight wasn't listed for us, but he's described as being on the medium-large male size.  On arrival he was a little pully on leash, but engaging with the volunteers and a touch sensitive to the excitement.  We will have an update on his time settling into retirement soon!  Update!    Frank is coming right along and loving his second chapter as a retired fella.  His foster mom tells us he's very good on leash, in the car, and with all people.  Like most greyhounds he can have active spurts with energy, and can be a little strong, but mellows quickly.  He greets his humans excitedly when they return home, and the foster family is working to teach him calm greetings.  Hes especially good with their children and has experience now with their 5 year old grandchild.  Also very safe with their small dog as tested and confirmed when he arrived.  What an awesome boy!  Surprising he hasn't been snapped up by a special family yet but he's going to be perfect for someone soon.

Adoption Status: Adopted by the Proctor family of Charleston, SC 3.2.25

From our Australia Friends:  Meet George, an energetic and confident greyhound who's read for an active home!  George would thrive in a house with a yard, ideally with older kids who can keep up with his high energy.  He's social with other greyhounds and enjoys walks alongside them, greeting them at barriers without concern.  George does need further training around small animals, but he could potentially live with medium to large dogs after a proper meet and greet.  He's strong and excitable on leash, but calms down as the walk progresses.  Though energetic, George is confident around unfamiliar people and is always ready for an adventure.  If you're looking for a lively, playful companion who loves to be social and active, George could be perfect for your home!

George was born on 1.4.22 so is still very much a young boy at heart.  His foster home describes him as high energy, confident, and possibly trainable with small dogs and cats.  Although he was very curious when meeting them, he would look and then walk away without lunging at them.  He may possibly need a retest after he has settled into retirement and has some time away from the excitement of the trip over.  He had no exposure to children while in Australia. He was never named so at this time we don't have a registered name for him, and there won't be a race history in Australia.  More very soon as he settles in!

From our friends Down Under:  Lily is a sweet and gentle greyhound who's ready to find her forever home!  She is a calm and friendly girl who gets along with other dogs, especially retired greyhounds, and is also great with kids.  She's been a bit shy at first with new people, but once she feels comfortable, she's very affectionate and loving.  Lily enjoys a good run or walk to burn off some energy, but once she's had her exercise, she's just as happy to relax and settle down.  She's quiet, well-mannered, and doesn't have a jumpy, excitable nature.  Lily takes her time getting to know you, but once she trusts you, she'll be a loyal and affectionate companion.

Lily was born on April 1, 2021, so will turn 4 in a couple months.  Her weight was listed as 28kg, making her about 64 lbs.  Just as described above, she seemed a bit shy the first night in foster care but quickly settled in for the perfect retirement.  More photos of this pretty girl soon!

Adoption Status: Adopted by the Buffa family of Easley, SC 2.17.25

Description from our friends in Australia:  Hawke is a playful and energetic greyhound with a lot of personality!  He loves to chase toys and enjoys being active, though he can be a bit erratic on the leash and strong when pulling.  He's manageable with handling, but some leash training would help him settle into a better walking routine.  When it comes to cats, Hawke didn't show much interest in his assessment- he was motionless and seemed more curious than reactive, but further testing is needed before considering placement with cats.  He comes when called and offers positive consent, though he does show some jumping when overly excited.  Hawke is full of energy and would love an active home when her can play, run, and get the attention he craves.

On arrival Hawke passed his cat testing by actually be terrified of the "black ball of HISS!" according to our volunteers.  His birthday is February 21, 2020, so he will turn 5 in just a few days.  They listed his incoming weight as 33kg, making him about 73 lbs.  Contrary to his cute racing name, he's quite the sweet natured boy and will make some luck family very happy!

Chanel was originally adopted 3 years ago from Project Racing Home in NC which has closed now, so we have been asked to assist with her rehoming.  Her primary issue in being returned is that she is uncomfortable living with active children in her space.  She is also not cat or small dog safe, but likes other large dogs.  Her birthday is January 1, 2018 and her tattoos are 18A-71643.  Chanel has been living with a doggy door at her previous home, so we don't have any information on whether she would be good for a family without a fenced yard who walks instead.   More info and new pictures of her will come as soon as she arrives in foster care.

Her sire is the very famous Lonesome Cry. We have placed a lot of his puppies. Her dam is Stevie Nicks and we have placed one of Cookie's half sisters named In A Blinkofaeye. Cookie is a sweet friendly girl that seems pretty calm. She is a rare light fawn, a very light blonde color with big dark eyes. She just stares at you when she wants attention. Cookie passed her cat test at the vet's office and was around a small white dog when she first arrived and was fine with him too. She is a very sweet girl that is doing great in foster care. Her foster mom says that if she even has to tell her no, she responds right away. Cookie has been in an adoptive home since September of 2019 with her housemate Scoobie. Their owners are in bad health and are no longer able to take care of the dogs, so have asked for help finding a home for them together.

Arrest just arrived from another group that asked us to help them place dogs. Their vet died and they weren't able to get dogs vetted or adopted. Arrest started racing at the Dubuque race track. He was moved to Southland in Arkansas, then back to Dubuque, then to Wheeling in WV and then to Tri State in WV. In spite of racing 86 races, he only actually won 7 of them. He did get up to the top AA level once. His last race was February 20th of 2024 and he has been waiting on a home since then. Arrest's sire is the famous SH Avatar and his dam is Biodiesel. He is a big, tall guy that raced at 80lbs. He will turn 5 on October 29th. Arrest is a very, very, friendly, loving guy that will follow you around. He likes to cuddle on the couch or on the bed with people or other dogs. He even let a medium sized mixed breed dog sit on him while he was laying on a couch, so seems to be exceptionally tolerant. He is playful and happy. He passed his cat test with very little interest, so should be fine to live with cats. Arrest also did well when introduced to small dogs. About the only thing he really doesn't like much is slick floors. He is practicing on them at his foster home. He is an exceptionally loving guy that will just lean on you for love and will stand there as long as you will pet him. He is a calm guy that loved the kids he met.

Adoption Status: Adopted by the Kostur family of Jacksonville, FL 1.4.25

Thunder just arrived from another adoption group that asked for our help. Their vet passed away, so they have been unable to get any dogs vetted for over 6 months. So these dogs have been waiting on vetting and homes for a very long time. Thunder ran 9 maiden races (for dogs that have never won a race) at Tri State in West Virginia. He placed in some of those, but wasn't able to win a single race, so he was retired in October of 2023. He has been waiting on a home since then. Thunder's sire is the famous Superior Panama and his dam is CET Sunny. He raced at 69 lbs and will turn 3 on October 20th. Thunder is a happy, friendly boy once he gets to know you. He can be just a little timid at first in new situations, but still eventually will go up to everyone for love and petting. A very sweet guy! Thunder is good with other dogs of all sizes. He is in a foster home with small dogs. Thunder had mixed results with cats. He was interested in them, but would redirect. He might be trainable, but we just feel that he was too interested to be safe living with cats, without a lot of training. He liked the kids he met a lot, so should be fine in a home with kids too. Thunder has had a toe injury on one of his back feet and one toe was amputated long ago. It is completely healed now and he doesn't seem to notice it. Thunder loves toys and takes them to his crate, so may be a bit of a toy hoarder.   UPDATE!  Thunder is available again for adoption, arriving on 12.14.24 to Jacksonville FL.  He has shown mixed results with small dogs so shouldn't be considered safe with them without more testing and training.

Meet Marley who just arrived from Australia. She raced 18 races there and retired on December 12th of 2023. She won only 2 of her races so had a short career. She has been living with her owners since then. Her sire is Aston Dee Bee and her dam is Steal the Glory. Marley was born on August 26th of 2020 and raced at 66lbs. She is very tall and leggy. This sweet affectionate girl has a bubbly, friendly nature that is sure to win you over. Marley is crate-trained and is quiet in her crate. She is happy to spend a few hours alone as a solo pet, though she would prefer the company of her humans or another dog for longer periods. She's great with stairs and is learning her "go to your bed" training. She is adaptable and eager to please. Marley absolutely loves playing with toys. She has lived with another female greyhound and has some experience being around kids in Australia and definitely liked the kids she met here. She would do well in a home with older kids that would enjoy her playful energy. Marley is an energetic, curious girl that checks out everything and doesn't seem to be afraid of anything. She was very curious about the cat at first, but spent the same amount of time sniffing everything else in the room. She should be trainable with a cat with some supervision at first. She also passed her cat test in Australia before coming to us. She was the same with a small dog she met, just a lot of curious sniffing and eventually lost interest. Marley should be a wonderful girl for just about any home.

Java just arrived from Australia. He never completed the registration process, so doesn't have an official racing name and never raced. He was tattooed though, his ear tattoo is NJDMT. He is a small guy that weighs about 65lbs, although he doesn't have an official racing weight. He was born on January 15th, 2022. Java is a real snuggle bug. He will just lean and snuggle into you and loves attention. A true velcro boy. He initially seems very confident and curiously checks out everything. He is quirky and loves climbing up on things to explore. If he gets corrected by humans or other dogs, for any behavior, he quickly backs off and acts a little nervous. For example: at first he was confident on the slick floors in his foster home, but after the other dogs bumped into him a few times and made him slip, he is cautious. Java is very polite, not coming up the outside steps until everybody else is out of the way. Java loves to travel and is going to be up for any adventure with his humans. He is playful and always ready to play with his favorite toys and will show off his zoomies in the backyard. He is a happy guy. Java did not pass his initial cat and small dog tests in Australia and seemed too interested in them at first meeting. We re-tested him here and he was initially curious about the cat and did a lot of sniffing, but didn't even get pushy enough for the cat to slap him. He did a little playbow and a bark, but then wouldn't get close to the cat again. He acted as if a cat had slapped him at some point and he knew to stay out of reach. That goes along with his personality, backing off if corrected and being more cautious. He did great meeting the small Italian Greyhound we introduced him to and didn't even stand up when the small dog came into the room. He really didn't seem that interested at all. We think he should be trainable with both, with some initial supervision. Java is good in his crate and is quiet in the crate.

Her sire is Andos Mac and her dam is Kingsbrae Chooky. Jill is a cute, furry gal that definitely still has her thick winter coat - the seasons are reversed in Australia. She looks chocolate brown right now, but should shed out and have a shiny black coat soon. Jill has a cute overbite that makes her pointy nose even more pointed. Jill is a calm, friendly girl that walks beautifully on lead. She loves soaking up the sun and likes to be outside when the weather is nice. She is a fantastic traveling companion, and really enjoys car rides. When it is playtime, Jill has a soft spot for squeaky toys. With her easy-going nature and affectionate personality, Jill is ready to bring joy and love into your home. Jill passed her small dogs tests in Australia and was good with an Italian Greyhound and a Cavadoodle puppy she met. She also passed her cat test there and her cat test here without more than a few sniffs. She hasn't lived around kids but seemed to like the children she met.

Tiger just turned 4 on Septermber 2nd. His sire is Turanza Bale and his dam is Twisted Love. Tiger has spent his life in a home and is walked everyday around 4pm along busy streets. He is very gentle on the lead and walks with confidence. Beneath his impressive exterior, Tiger is a gentle sweetheart. His personality is a blend of calm and confidence, with a touch of playful curiosity. He has a knack for making everyone around him feel at ease with his calm presence and friendly demeanour. While he can be exuberant during playtime, he's equally content to curl up in a cozy spot and enjoy a peaceful nap. Tiger is happy to make besties with other medium/large dogs. He was very excitable around small dogs and cats when he first met them in Australia but did great with both when he got here and met them again. He has no issues passing them on the street, on leash, either. Tiger may take just a short time to get adjusted to a new home and when he does he will be a very happy, loving guy.

Adoption Status: Adopted by the Koch family of Vale, NC on 11.4.24

So someone with a sense of humor named this litter of pups. Dung's littermates are Dookie, Deuce, Runs, and Squirts. We were asked to help another adoption group place some of their dogs because their vet passed away and they haven't been able to get their fosters vetted. That adoption group decided to call him Doug instead of Dung and we like that name much better too. Doug raced at Tri State Race Track very briefly. We were only able to find 7 schooling races for him. He always finished toward the back of the pack, so never had an official race. Doug's sire is Show On The Road and his dam is Kelso's Very Cool. He is a big, tall guy racing at 80lbs. He is 2 and won't turn 3 until December 23rd. When we picked him up at the other adoption kennel, he came running out and came right up to us with his tail wagging. He appeared to be a friendly happy guy and didn't seem shy or timid at all. He traveled really well and laid down most of the trip. But when he got out of the van, he was a totally different dog. He seemed completely out of his element and nervous. His head was down and he was very quiet and clearly overwhelmed. Once he warms back up and gets more comfortable we are sure he will return to the happy, bouncy, young guy we saw when he was comfortable. Doug easily passed his cat test and didn't seem interested in the cat at all. He is being fostered with cats and is doing great with them too. He didn't show much interest in the small white dog he met either.   UPDATE:  Doug decided he might like a nibble on a cat in his foster home, so to be on the safe side we are changing him to NO for cats.  Still an amazing, gorgeous dog!

Diabolic just arrived from another group that asked us to help them place some of their dogs. Their vet passed away and they haven't been able to get their dogs vetted and adopted for months. Diabolic started out racing at Wheeling in WV, then was moved to Southland in Arkansas. When that track closed, he was moved to Tri-State in WV. He raced 44 races, but only managed to actually win 4 of them. Looking at the comments on his races, he was fast, but just ran wide and got bumped a lot trying to get to the outside. Diabolic raced his last race February 11th of 2023 so has been waiting on a home for well over a year. Diabolic turned 4 on March 23rd. His sire is the famous Barcelona Boss and his dam is CH Honey Im Good. Diabolic raced at 78lbs. He is a very happy, friendly guy that isn't pushy. If other dogs are getting love, he will politely wait his turn and doesn't seem to be a really needy guy. He is a very confident guy. Nothing seems to phase him; slick floors, stairs and other new things are all taken in stride. He travels well and seems to adapt well to just about any situation. He is too interested in kitties to be able to live with them. He is living with a medium sized mix breed dog in foster care, and was fine with the small dog he met. Diabolic has been around older kids and and small kids and seems to like everyone. He gets along well with the other greyhounds in his foster home too.

Adoption Status: Adopted by the Kirshtein family of Charleston, SC 10.13.24

Leo just arrived from another group that asked us to help them place some dogs. Their vet passed away and they have been unable to get dogs vetted, so these dogs have been waiting for a very long time. Leo raced at Tri State Race Track in West Virginia. He raced 90 races there and won 6 of those. His last race was August 8th of 2023. He pulled up and did not finish that race due to a broken leg. Leo had his leg fixed and rehabbed at the track adoption kennel. The repair looks fantastic and isn't noticeable. Once in awhile he favors that leg just a bit, but runs and plays and will still be faster than any non-greyhound. His leg is completely healed after a year. Leo is a special guy that is going to need a dog experienced owner. He is very loving and likes every person he has met so far. He loves having company at his foster home. More people to love. He lives for love and attention. He is very dramatic about new things and things he doesn't like and tends to overreact. He is really worried about slick floors and just freezes, for example. He was also worried about even walking on a rug at first, but is getting more comfortable with those after a few days. His foster home is working on him with both but he is going to need carpet or at least carpet runners because he still freaks out on the shiny floors after having to walk on them for weeks. He will hop right up on a couch though. We were told he can be growly over his food with other dogs, so he has always been fed separately in his kennel. Leo has never growled at people over his food. Even though he doesn't want to share food with other dogs, he actually really seems to need another dog around him and refused to eat when kenneled alone at first. We think he would probably do best in a home with another dog or two, but probably not a large pack of dogs. His racing kennel felt that he needed to go to a home with his littermate Joaquin. Because of Leo breaking his leg, he had to be separated from Joaquin for 6 months, and did OK though. We tried putting them in separate foster homes and they did fine. Leo passed his cat test. He paid no attention to the cat and was much more worried about the slick bathroom floor he was standing on. Leo's sire is the famous Kiowa Sweet Trey and his dam is Braska Diane. His DOB is 8/7/19 so he just turned 5 years old. He raced at 69lbs.

Billy just arrived from another adoption group that asked us to help them place some dogs. Their vet passed away and they haven't been able to get dogs vetted, so these dogs have been waiting on homes for too long. Billy went to the Tri-State RaceTrack in West Virginia to race. He ran 6 schooling races in October of 2023, and came in toward the back of the pack in all of them, so never had an official race. His sire is Show On The Road and his dam is CTW Funfetti. He is an extra large, tall boy that raced at 80bs. That was a very tall, skinny 80lbs. He is as tall as some 90lb greyhounds, so may fill out and be heavier than 80. He was born February 12, 2022 so is just 2 years old. Billy is a friendly, goofy, happy guy, that runs up to everyone he sees. If another dog is getting petted, he will be poking his nose in to get love too. He still seems like a goofy pup most of the time and is still learning that his long back legs are supposed to follow the long front legs up and down stairs. He is like a colt sometimes learning to use those legs and actually has something a bit different about his stride that is probably the reason he never was able to race well. We will have our vet check him out when he goes in for his neuter. Billy passed his cat test with just some casual sniffing. He likes kids of all ages. Billy passed his cat test and his small dog tests easily, so should be fine to live with them. This is a really sweet guy that is going to be a great best friend. Although he is pretty young still, he doesn't chose to run around a lot and doesn't require a lot of exercise. He seems like he is going to be a pretty calm guy.

Batman just arrived from another adoption group that asked us to help them place dogs. Their vet passed away and they couldn't get these dogs vetted or adopted. Batman raced 7 races at the Tri State Race Track back in October of 2023. He didn't place in any of his races so was retired then, and has been waiting on a home since then. His sire is the famous Rob Gronkowski and his dam is Britney Eureton. He raced at 68lbs and will turn 3 on September 20th. Batman is a gorgeous, shiny black boy that is very friendly and happy. He travels very well and just got in the van and laid down to go for a ride. So far Batman has been pretty excitable about everything, wanting to go check everything out. Kind of like a squirrel on the leash. He was way too excited about the kitties to be able to live with them, but may need to be re-tested, since he was so excited about everything new when he arrived. He did do OK with the small dog he met, after some initial excited sniffing. He will need a careful introduction to small dogs, since they can look like cats or squirrels at first glance. Batman wants to run up to everyone he sees. When he saw people riding by on bikes, he wanted to go run with them too. He is very curious about everything and is ready to be part of any activity. He really liked the kids he met, but we think he may be too excitable and playful for small, young kids. He would probably enjoy a family that had older kids that he could play with though. He has a lot of personality, but does calm down nicely in a home. Batman is going to be a wonderful part of a lucky family. He can be whiny in his kennel, so may not be the best choice for apartment living.

Cat Tolerance:

Yes
Good w/ Children:
Older Children Only
Fostered by (location):
Bowden (Greenville, SC)
Adoption Status: Adopted by the Vinson/Shamblin family of Ackworth GA, 9.24.24

Promise came in initially from a dog farm in Arkansas in 2018. She was called Ally at the track, but her previous owners decided to call her Promise. She raced 70 races, mostly at Wheeling Downs in WV, and was very good getting up to the top AA levels at one of the toughest tracks. Promise also raced briefly at Southland. After she retired in January of 2018, she went back to the farm to be a mom. She had just one puppy. It was too big and she had trouble having it, so the pup didn't make it. Her owners decided to just retire her instead of having more litters. Promise was adopted in October of 2018 and lived with her owner until he passed away. His family has asked us to rehome her. Promise lived with a male greyhound in her previous home so should be OK to live in a home with another dog. She turned 9 on January 6th, so qualifies for our reduced adoption donation of $350. She will be completely vetted before we place her again. Her sire is the famous Flying Penske and her dam is Cidina. Promise raced at 65lbs. She is good on leash and potties on leash, so may do fine with potty walks instead of having a fenced yard. Promise travels really well and just gets in the car and lays down. She is calm in her crate. Promise can be just a little timid when she first meets you, but is happy to let females come up and pet her. Even though her previous owner was a man, that loved her, she just never really warmed up to other men and remains standoffish with guys. We would prefer to place her in a home with a woman. Although she may not go up to a lady at first to be petted, it won't take her long to warm up and she will then seek out petting and affection. Promise does like kids and gets more excited to see them than adults. Because she is timid we think that very young loud kids and their toys and fast movements could still scare her, so we would prefer to place her in a home with older children only. She is a grinner, that smiles when excited, once she is comfortable. She is very calm. Promise was interested in the first cat she met, but after that was fine with the other cats she met and not interested in them at all. She has not lived with cats in her previous home so we retested her with cats and she just sniffed curiously and then walked away. Promise even walked nicely past several ducks so seems to have a low preydrive. She has the glossiest, gorgeous, black coat. Promise had an injury to her tail, when she was young, so now has a cute little nub that is only about 3 inches long. She thinks it makes her even cuter and she doesn't have to worry about it getting shut in a door or gate like other greyhounds.

Joaquin just arrived with his brother Leo from another group that asked us to help them place some dogs. Their vet passed away and they haven't had anyone to vet their dogs for some time. So these guys have been waiting on a home for a very long time. Joaquin raced 83 races at Tri-State Race Track and was pretty good, quickly getting up to the top A level there and winning 15 of his races. His last race was August 12th of 2023 and he has been waiting on home for over a year. His sire is the famous Kiowa Sweet Trey and his dam is Braska Diana. He just turned 5 on August 7th. Joaquin is a happy-go-lucky, sweet guy. Very outgoing and friendly. He is being fostered with kids, cats and small dogs and has been good with everything. His kennel at the track felt strongly that Joaquin and Leo should be placed together, but they were separated for 6 months when one was at the track and the other was with the previous adoption group. They are in separate foster homes now and are OK, so we think they may be able to be placed separately. Joaquin can be a little loud in his kennel so may not be the best apartment dog.

Adoption Status: Adopted by the Pendergraft family, 9.15.24

Charlie B just arrived from Wheeling Downs Race Track in WV. She raced 51 races, mostly at the lower C and D levels. Her last race was July 3rd of 2024. Charlie B won 4 races and placed in others. She may have raced a little longer, but her kennel, Rangle Kennel, is closing its doors. Charlie B is retiring with her sister Cruella but they don't seem bonded enough to need to be placed together. Her sire is Need My Moneynow and her dam is Pat C Zitty. She just turned 3 on August 16th. Charlie B has a wonderful, friendly personality and her tail wags most of the time. When we asked her trainers who their favorite dog out of this load was, they quickly said Charlie B. She is very curious and checks everything out. On the trip down she mostly stood up and looked out the window, but did eventually lay down. Even though she is busy checking everything out, she always come back to people for love. She whined some on the trip and at first in her crate, but calmed down and quieted down the second day. She was raised with children and is very good with the kids she has met, giving them gentle kisses and choosing to interact with them. She is a big favorite of the kids in her foster home and she lets the 4 year old lead her around by the collar, even though she is bigger than he is. She really seems to love being around children. She has been good with the dogs she has met of all sizes and breeds. She has had mixed results with the cats in her foster home. She corrects easily when you tell her 'no', but has continued to show too much interest in chasing the cats again later. We think she will need a home with no cats, after working with her and the cats for awhile. Charlie B is such a sweet, loving girl that loves everyone she meets. She is going to be a great family dog.

Adoption Status: Adopted by the Williams family of Ringgold GA, 9.13.24

Cruella just arrived from Wheeling Downs Race Track in WV. She raced 26 races and only won one of them. Normally she finished toward the back of the pack, so probably would have retired quickly even if Rangle Kennel had not closed. She raced her last race on July 6th and arrived with her sister Charlie B. Cruella likes her sister, but doesn't seem so bonded that they need to be placed together. They are in separate foster homes and seem to be completely fine. Cruella is a small female that raced at just 60lbs. Her sire is Need My Moneynow and her dam is Pat C Zitty. Her DOB is 8/26/21, so she just turned 3 years old. Cruella is happy and sweet and is very laid back for her age according to her owner. She was raised around kids at the farm she lived on. She can be a little standoffish with new dogs on first meeting, especially other breeds that she hasn't been around before. Once she knows dogs, she seems like she is good and she would repeatedly give her sister Charlie B kisses and curled up beside the other girls on the trip. She spent a lot of time curiously sniffing the cat, then walked off to check out that dog in the mirror. So Cruella should be fine to live with cats. Cruella is a natural sitter, that is a position that is not comfortable for most greyhounds. She loves toys and carries them around and may be a bit of a toy hoarder. Her foster mom says she is pretty perfect, playful and confident. She has had only a couple of potty accidents in the house so picked up on potty training fast. She is still learning that counter surfing is not allowed. She is smart and seems to be learning fast. She is quiet all night in her kennel. She follows the other dogs in her foster home and does what they do. She does stairs like a champ up and down. Not only gorgeous but a great personality too.

Adoption Status: Adopted by the Link family 9/2/24

Pippa initially came in from the Sanford Orlando track as a very young girl at just a year and a half old. She didn't ever race though. She just wasn't interested in chasing the lure and you can't make a greyhound run is it doesn't want to. Pippa was initially called Trista but her adoptive family has called her Pippa since they adopted her. She has been in that home for 8 years and is being returned to us because the toddler in her adoptive home became allergic to her. Pippa will turn 10 on December 13th, so qualifies for our reduced senior adoption donation of $250. She is missing a leg due to a bad break she had after adoption in 2019. It couldn't be fixed, so the leg had to be amputated. It healed up long ago and Pippa gets along great on 3 legs. She can still run and play and it hardly slows her down. She loves to play with toys and will throw them around and pounce on them in short spurts between naps. Her sire is Bonafide Top Dog and her mom is Retail Therapy. We also placed her mom. Pippa was an emotional support dog for her previous owner after he got out of the service, so it was really hard on both of them to be separated. Pippa is very cat friendly and isn't any more interested in chasing a cat than she was in chasing a lure. She was living with a cat in her home and sleeps with it (check out her pictures). She is also good with small dogs. Pippa is much more interested in getting up in your lap for snuggles than chasing anything. She is a happy, sweet girl that so far has loved everyone she has met and hasn't shied away from anyone including kids. Pippa is already home acclimated and should be a calm, easy going addition to just about any home. She is absolutely adorable.

Jasmine just arrived from the closing Rangle Kennel at the Wheeling Downs Race Track in WV. She raced 12 schooling races and usually finished toward the back of the pack, so never had an official race. Her last schooling race was July 19th, 2024. Jasmine arrived with her sister VJ Moulin Rouge, they are being fostered together but so far don't seem to be too bonded to each other. So we feel they can be placed separately. Jasmine's sire is Show On The Road and her dam is MJ Max Freeze. Her DOB is 3/4/22 so she is 2 years old. Jasmine is a tiny girl that raced at just 58lbs. Her owner described her as not really shy but reserved at first, until she adjusts. Then she can be silly and a bit of a wild child in short spurts. Jasmine has been pretty timid since she has arrived, but does seem to be more outgoing every day. She comes up cautiously and seems like she wants affection, but is a little too timid to ask for it. She just stares up at you with the sweetest eyes. She has been very good with the other dogs she met and didn't even fuss when stepped on or layed on on the trip down. Jasmine does well with kids and loved the 8-10 year old at her owner's farm, but was timid at first with new kids we introduced her to. She has also been fine with a medium sized dog of another breed that she met. She still needs cat testing, but we are pretty sure she will be safe with them because she wasn't even that interested in chickens when she first saw them. She is pretty quiet in her kennel and is calm and well behaved in the house so far. She can be timid on leash when she sees something new and tries to back away, so may need to be walked on a harness at first and may need a home with a safely fenced yard. Jasmine travels well and just laid down for the entire trip and rarely got up. She was a little worried about the stairs at first but learned them quickly. Jasmine is a sweet little girl that is a little overwhelmed by everything new, but should warm up quickly.

Her DOB is 3/4/22 so she is just 2 years old. Her sire is Show On The Road and her dam is MJ Max Freeze. She is the opposite of her timid sister and doesn't know a stranger. Mulan goes straight up to everyone she meets with a wagging tail and a grin on her face. She is super sweet and loves kids. She was one of the favorites of the 8-10 year old girl that lived on the farm where she was raised. She is very used to being handled by kids. Mulan is very curious about everything, but does calm down nicely at home. She has mastered the steps at her foster home. She gets along well with other dogs including a medium sized dog of another breed. Mulan did great on her cat test and just sniffed curiously and then wanted petting. Mulan is a happy happy girl that loves everyone and does the big greyhound grin.

Stuart is a return. He was initially placed in his current home by an adoption group that has shut down. Stuart is being returned because his family can no longer care for him due to health issues. No problem with him. Stuart was born on December 3rd of 2017, so is 6 years old. We were only able to find that he raced 6 schooling races at Palm Beach in Florida. He came in 5th or 6th in all of those races, so he was retired young and didn't have an official race. His last schooling race was 8/28/2019 and he has been in an adoptive home since then. He has never lived with cats so it is unknown how he would do in a home with them. He is friendly with other dogs of all sizes on neighborhood walks, but has never lived with small dogs. He is friendly with all the people he meets on walks but hasn't lived with children either. Stuart is already home acclimated. He is afraid of thunderstorms. His owners think he may have a little separation anxiety so he may do best in a home with another dog. Stuart's sire is Flying Fired Up and his dam is Flying Husky.

Adoption Status: Adopted by the Nevius Family of Atlanta GA, 8.17.24

Fritz came in from Australia. He raced only 8 races and did OK winning one of those and placing in most of the others. His last race was March 8th of 2024. He raced at Wagga, and Healesville. Fritz's DOB is 1/5/22, so he is 2 years old. His sire is Wow and his dam is Gamma Bale. He is a very tiny boy racing at just 62lbs. He was smaller than the girls that he arrived from Australia with. Even though he is a small boy, Fritz is a very confident guy, that is likely to be the leader of whatever pack he is in. So he needs a home with other dogs that would be OK with that. Fritz was completely vetted in Australia before arrival and his ear tattoo is VLXIS. Fritz is a happy, friendly, loyal dog that loves to be around people, joining in on the fun whenever he gets the chance! He is super easy-going and is happy to go along with, and join in on, whatever you’re doing! Fritz is equally as social with children- he just loves kids! The children that Fritz has grown up with are 6, 8 & 10 years old and he is gentle and sweet with them. He is used to playing with them, getting a wash, and just generally being handled by them. When we did his nails he just laid there and let us dremmel them without flinching or fussing. So long as he gets his love and pats, he’s a happy boy! Fritz is happy to be doing whatever you’re doing and is a pretty calm guy. He does love to play with toys in short spurts. Fritz has interacted with other dog breeds besides Greyhounds and gets along well with them, but he definitely prefers his human friends. Fritz has lived with a Blue Heeler and her puppies and got along fine with them all- he was just happy he was never asked to babysit them! Fritz did great with a small Italian Greyhound he met when he arrived. His best friend was a small Dachshund in his foster home - they would play together and sleep cuddled up together. Fritz did not pass his cat test so needs a home with no cats. He is a natural sitter that seems very comfortable in that position, unlike most greyhounds. He has the cutest puppy look about him.

White (Augusta, GA)
Adoption Status: Adopted by the Good Family of Charlotte NC, 8.17.24

Vista arrived recently from a farm in Florida. She was transported there from the Tri-State Race Track in WV. She raced only 7 races there and was only able to win one of those, so was retired young. She just turned 2 on June 7th. She is a tiny, fawn girl that raced at just 58lbs, but looks even smaller than that. Her sire is Hashtag Dangrite and her dam is Hashtag Xxntexas. Vista traveled well. She stood up and looked out the window some of the trip up from Florida, but laid down after awhile. She is a singer and likes to lead the other dogs in long roos. Vista is a little shy at first, mainly with men. She was pretty friendly with women and kids and came when called. She seems submissive, coming up pretty low to the ground with her tail wagging cautiously. She seemed submissive at first with other dogs too, not growling or correcting other dogs, even when they were bothering her. She passed her cat and small dog tests easily. She seemed afraid of the cat, but was very comfortable with the small white dog she met. She did panic on leash when something scared her and she tried to bolt away. She seems like she is pretty stressed at first in new situations, but she wants attention and should warm up fast. She also seemed to like the small kids she met. Vista was vetted at Emerald City Animal Hospital in Greenwood, SC. UPDATE!  Vista is available for adoption again after a very short time with her adoptive family, because she did chase the cat after she got over her fear of it. She was also having some fear responses and mixed messages when spending time with the other dogs in her home. Vista may do best in a quiet, calm home with a family with shy greyhound experience. Vista is in a foster home now and has done really well, even warming up to her foster dad slowly. She has been very good with the other dogs in her foster home and is especially drawn to their male greyhound, following him around. She has shown no interest in chasing their chickens either so seems to have a pretty low prey drive. She is a very sensitive girl that tends to panic and over react to new things. She will need a patient owner that will give her the time she needs to adjust.
