Coastal SC and GA

Greyhounds available for adoption in the Charlotte NC Area.

The majority of greyhounds racing in the US were racing in Florida until all of those tracks closed at the end of 2020.  We only have a very limited number of greyhounds available and don't expect to get many more.

If you have NOT adopted from us before: If you are in our adoption area, please fill out the form below and you will be contacted to complete the approval process with a home visit IF we have a greyhound available that will work for your home.

Greyhound Crossroads Adoption Requests

If you have adopted from Greyhound Crossroads previously: Please check our available hounds page and contact your adoption rep to make arrangements to meet the dog you are interested in.

Idol is a return from a Gainsville FL greyhound adoption group that is no longer in business. He only had 2 schooling races at the Flagler Race Track in June of 2012. He finished so far behind everyone else that he wasn't even on camera. He was sent to Dubuque to try a different track and has one more schooling race in November of 2012.  Again he finished last, so he was officially retired. At some point he was sent back to Florida and was placed in an adoptive home there, at the end of 2012 or the beginning of 2013. He has been in that home until now. He is being returned because his owners are being relocated due to work. They haven't been able to find a place to live that will accept large dogs. Idol is an older guy that turned 11 January 9th so qualifies for our senior discount of a $250 adoption donation. He raced at 74lbs. His sire is the famous Maryville Rumble and his dam is Grey's Paper Doll. He currently lives with an elderly dog and 3 year old twins. He is great with the toddlers and lets them play on and around him. He has also lived with cats and is great with them. Idol barks when he needs to go outside to go potty. He is a very calm, laid back, guy that loves everyone. He likes to be nearby but isn't needy. Idol travels well, he is not on any medications other than heart worm prevention. He likes walks and is excellent on leash. He has a fenced yard to play in and doesn't act his age. His only fault is that he doesn't like his crate. As perfect as he sounds, he probably wouldn't need to be crated. This is a great guy that is looking for a new home through no fault of his own.
