2019 Adoptions
A list of all retired racing greyhounds adopted by Greyhound Crossroads in 2019
Shane just arrived from the Running to Stand Still Farm in Florida. He raced only 10 maiden races at Derby Lane in FL and didn't win any of them. He got bumped in his last race in February of 2020 and had a minor muscle injury, so went back to the farm for some down time. Shane healed up completely long ago. Even though he would have been fine to return to racing, racing is ending in Florida at the end of this year, so Shane's owner decided to just retire him permanently rather than return him to racing for just a few months. Shane is a very special dog whose racing name was given to him in honor of his owner's late husband. He turned 2 on May 14th. Shane's sire is the famous Kiowa Myth and his dam is Be Limitless. Shane raced at 73lbs but currently weighs 76. He is personality plus. Shane will just lean against you for love and his whole body wags when he gets excited. When he gets excited, he bounces and sometimes tries to give hugs. He is very food motivated so may be a great guy for someone that wants to do trick or obedience training. Shane paid very little attention to the cat when he met it and also did great with a small white dog he is fostered with, so should be able to live with either. He loves everyone he meets including the small kids in his foster home. Shane does pull on leash excitedly going to check out new people and things, we are working on that. He crates very quietly so may do well for apartment or townhouse living. Shane was a marker when he first arrived, but is doing good on his potty training in his foster home now. He is likely to need close supervision when acclimating to a new home. Shane has been perfectly behaved with the male and female dogs in his foster home. His racing owner reported that he was a confident guy that could be a bit bossy with some of the other male greyhounds he was turned out with. His neuter may have helped with that, because we have seen no bossiness and have been surprised at how tolerant he has been with a bossy, annoying, large puppy in his foster home. Shane has the best personality and seems like a fun, loving dog that will make a wonderful, devoted pet for some lucky family. |

Loki initially came in from the Roban Farm in Florida. He never actually got to the race track. He just wasn't interested in chasing anything so flunked out of race training. Loki is a tiny guy that doesn't have an official race weight but weighed around 62lbs at our vet. He turned 2 on May 5th and has been in an adoptive home for a year now. Initially he was called Robert but his new owners changed his name to Loki. His sire is WW Time Warp and his dam is Cahillusmarshall. Loki is a sweet submissive guy. He gives everyone he meets kisses and keeps his head body low when meeting people or other dogs. He is also very dramatic and will yelp like a pup if he even thinks something might hurt. His racing name of Iron Man really doesn't fit him, he is not a tough guy at all. Our vet and her staff commented on what a cry baby he was when they were working with him. He is very sweet and loved the toddlers he lived with and follows kids around choosing to be with them for the first year he was around them. Unfortunately he snapped and bit a kid that was falling on him, so now needs a home with no kids. He passed his cat and small dogs tests easily, as we expected. He didn't want to chase them anymore than he wanted to chase the lure. Loki travels well and crates well. He was pretty unsure of himself when he first arrived and doesn't seem like a real confident guy. He has adapted well to home life and is very well behaved according to his former family. The pictures of him are from his first photo shoot when he first arrived and he didn't want to look at the camera. |

Banshee just arrived from the Lester Raines Kennel at the Palm Beach Race Track. She raced 126 races there. She raced mainly at the mid B and C levels. Banshee raced at 63lbs and just turned 4 on November 2nd. Her sire is the famous Trent Lee and her dam is Dancin InMiami. We placed her littermate NPZ Imperial Lee years ago after her very short racing career. Banshee is a very sweet girl. Friendly and happy. Be sure to check out pictures of her as a puppy! |

Destin came in from Eric Griffin's kennel at the Orange Park Race Track in Jacksonville Florida. He raced 84 races, starting out his career at Wheeling Downs in WV, then going to Southland in Arkansas and finally to Orange Park. He got up to the top A level, so was pretty good. He was racing in A, in his last race on November 8th, when another dog ran into him and dislocated his toe. The toe was put back in place before we got him. Our vet examined it and felt it is healing up nicely and shouldn't cause him any more trouble. Desoto is a sweet, friendly, happy, confident boy that raced at 71lbs and turned 3 on July 26th. His sire is the famous KC and All and his dam is WW'sbemasunshine. Destin rode well during transport and jumped right into the van. He is very social and goes straight up to everyone he sees for attention. Destin is curious about everything but walks pretty good on leash and doesn't pull much. He was too interested in the cats at the vet's office to pass his cat test. He did fine with the small white dog he met. He just sniffed and went on to check out the rest of the house. He is being fostered with small kids and seems to like them. He is getting along with the other greyhounds and whippets in his foster home. He proceeds cautiously on wood floors after slipping a few times, but that is the only thing we had seen that makes him at all nervous. He does like to get up on furniture and climbed right up onto the couch to make himself at home. He did bark some at first in his foster home so may not be suitable for apartment living. He is a great guy that has settled into foster care very easily and seems like he will make an easy addition to just about any home. Gorgeous guy with a wonderful personality too! |

Steve came in from the Bolton Kennel at the Sanford Orlando Race Track. He raced just 22 races starting out at Southland in Arkansas. He wasn't successful there but did well in Orlando and went straight up to the top A level. His last race was September 25th. He trailed pretty far behind the other dogs in his last race due to an injury. He was healed up and rehabbed, but wasn't able to return to racing, so is being officially retired now. Steve is a white male with black spots that raced at 74lbs. He turned 2 on April 3rd so is still a pretty young guy. His sire is Flying Fired up and his dam is Windy Reba. We would love to hear the story of how he got his name because he doesn't actually have a dirty face and is a gorgeous guy. Steve is settling into retirement very well in his foster home. He can't seem to figure out how to keep his body on the dog beds but does like to use them as pillows. He has the cutest curly tail. His trainer says that Steve is an old soul and acts older than his age. He can be just a bit reserved at first with new people and environments but has warmed up fast in foster care. He can be a little nervous on walks and seems like he prefers to be more of a homebody. Steve did fine with the small dogs he met and didn't even want to get near the cats so should be fine in a home with either. |

Iron Man is a gorgeous, tall, 79lb, white male with black spots. He came in from the Bolton Kennel at the Sanford Orlando Race Track. He raced just 24 races, starting at Wheeling Downs in WV. He got up to B level there in May. He was moved to Orlando in June and raced only a few races there in July. He was at the track kennel until we got him. His trainer describes him as a nice, calm, quiet guy. Iron Man turned 2 on March 24th. His sire is Dyna Nalin and his dam is Oshkosh Fantasia. Iron Man has settled into foster care really well. He gets along great with all the dogs in his foster home. He also likes kids and has been great with them. He had too much interest in the cats he met though so needs a home with no kitties. He is loving affectionate and gentle and adapts to change well. He is great on leash. He loves people. Great guy with a wonderful personality. |

Rita came in from the Bolton Racing Kennel at the Sanford Orlando Race Track. Rita raced most of her 156 races at the Orlando track and we met her there on a visit to her kennel when she was still racing. We fell in love with her and have been waiting on her to retire. Rita also raced at Derby Lane. She raced a lot of her career at the top A level and even raced in one stakes race. Rita raced at 63lbs and is a beautiful red girl. Her sire is Surf Lorian and her dam is PJ Never Ask Why. Rita turned 4 on July 20th. Rita was pretty overwhelmed at first and nervous away from her trainers and the kennel she was used to. She has quickly regained her confidence and starting to get back to the friendly, goofy, girl that we met at the kennel. She was too nervous at first to be interested in the cats in her foster home. As she has gotten more confident she is paying more attention to their cats, so we have changed her from OK with cats to needs a home with no cats. She is doing great in foster care. She was noisy in her kennel the first night but has been pretty quiet since. |

Sunshine's sire is Superior Panama and her dam is Offhand Olga. She raced at 62lbs. Sunshine passed her cat test at the track so should be able to live with cats and small dogs. More as we get to know her. |

Stumper just arrived from the Celtic Hounds Kennel at the Sanford Orlando Race track. He only raced 14 races there and wasn't able to win one of them. He usually finished toward the back. Since he just didn't seem interested enough or fast enough to race, he was retired young. He just turned 2 on November 22nd and still can act a bit like a young pup. Stumper is a smaller guy that raced at 67lbs. His sire is SE Tali Sundance and his dam is Butch Becall. Stumper is a happy, friendly, goofy, young guy. Very outgoing! |

Spectacular just arrived from the Goodman Kennel at the Sanford Orlando Race Track. She raced at 60lbs and raced 105 races. She also raced at the Mardi Gras Race Track and at Melbourne. She was pretty good getting up to A level. She turned 3 on May 5th. Her sire is Boc's Blast Off and her dam is Boc's Danica P. More as we get to know her. |

Special Needs! Envoy initially came in from trainer AJ Grant at the Sanford Orlando Kennel Club in FL. His last race was actually at Derby Lane in September and he also raced at Dubuque earlier. He was moved to Orlando in hopes he would be competitive there, but but never had an official race at that track. He won a couple of races early on, but usually came in toward the back of the pack, so the decision was made to retire him after 20 races. We got him in October of 2018. Envoy turns 3 on November 25th. He raced at 71lbs. His sire is Flying Titanium and his dam is Flying Cesium. Envoy is a happy, silly, guy that is pretty playful and energetic for a greyhound. He is going to need a very special home. He has some space issues and has bitten 3 women that tried to move him off of furniture or bumped him when he was laying down. He has been returned two families so far and never challenged the men in those homes, so we think he would do better in a home with men only. Envoy is very friendly with women and everyone he meets, when out and about. He only growls and snaps about his space when he is laying down. Although he normally likes kids and has shown no aggression towards them, because of space issues, he needs a home with no kids. Envoy is a very, happy, sweet, guy 99.9 percent of the time, but he is going to need a very special dog experienced home that has experience with working with dogs that have space issues. |

Hooper is coming in from Eric Griffin at Orange Park Race Track in Jacksonville Florida. He raced 93 races and also races at Southland in Arkansas and Wheeling WV. He got up to the top A level and was racing in A in his last race. He pulled a muscle on his inner thigh and pulled up and didn't finish that race on November 16th. It is a common injury that doesn't affect life as a pet and is only moderately painful for about a week. Greyhounds can sometimes return to racing after this type of injury. Since he was already nearly 4 years old and had a long career, the decision was made to retire him now. Hooper is a sweet boy who raced at 69lbs. His sire is Barcelona Boss and his dam is WW's Sally Field. Hooper turns 4 on December 17th. Hooper is a very calm easy going guy that is excellent on leash. He passed his small dog test with just a casual sniff. He liked the small kids he met going right up to them for affection very gently. More as we get to know him. |

Sherwin came in from the Blanchard Kennel at Orange Park. He only had 3 schooling races and finished toward the back of the pack in the first two and pulled up and nearly stopped in the last one. His last race was in January but they kept him at the track for a long time before they made the decision to officially retire him. Sherwin raced at 75lbs. He turned 2 on June 20th. He was adopted in May but has been returned by his family due to some personal issues, not anything he did. They were heartbroken to have to return him to us for rehoming. They said he is a very good boy and has excellent house manners. Sherwin's sire is P's Gibbs and his dam is Zero. He seemed a little timid and overwhelmed when he first arrived from the track but warmed up right away in foster care. After just a day or two he became a friendly guy that would seek out attention. He is great with the other greyhounds, male and female in his foster home. He also passed his cat and small dog tests easily. Sherwin seems to love the kids he has met too. He loves to lay on doggy beds and is calm in the house but also has an active fun playful side too. He has done great with his potty training and didn't have one accident in the house when he came from the track or when he was returned to his foster home. He doesn't get up on the furniture and only comes in the kitchen if invited. He is very quiet so may be a good choice for apartment living. He has not been using a crate in his previous home or in his foster home currently. |

Pop Tart just arrived from Eric Griffin's kennel at the Orange Park Race Track in Jacksonville Florida. She raced just 6 races and only won one of those. In her last race on Nov 6th she hurt her hock. It was taken care of at the track before she was sent to us and is fine now. She just needs a couple of weeks more of leash walking before being allowed to run around on it. She isn't even limping on it anymore, but will hold it up once in while while standing. Pop Tart is a tiny little black girl that raced at just 53lbs. She is very young and won't turn 2 until May 16th of next year. She seems pretty well behaved for such a young girl. She does get a little excited and bounces when she first sees you and thinks she may get attention. She walks great on leash though and just stands next to you once she gets over her initial excitement. Her sire is Nashapelli and her dam is WW's Sour Tart. Pop Tart passed her small dog test easily and went straight up to the little kids she met with a wagging tail so seems to really like kids. She is a very friendly girl that travels well and just lays down in her kennel. She has a lot of red hair in a stripe down her tail which is very unusual on a black dog. |

Gimpy came in with her two sisters Lee Peg Creator and Lee Peg Mator from the King Kennel at the Sanford Orlando Race Track in Florida. Gimpy never actually had an official race at the track due to an old injury to her right front foot. It looks like she may have been stepped on by another dog or maybe she kicked something while running and damaged several toes as a puppy which gave her her name. One toe had been partially amputated by a vet at some point, but because she was a pup, the bone continued to grow and was causing some pain. One of our vets did another incomplete amputation June 13th but it didn't heal up well. We took her to a specialist for a complete toe amputation at the end of October and also had a tendon surgery performed on her foot to flatten out her toes to make walking more comfortable. She developed corns on her feet due to the gait problems she was having and the tendon surgery will help with those. So she is on restricted exercise temporarily until her toes heal up from her most recent surgery. Before the surgery she was still holding up the foot when standing and had a pronounced limp when walking on the foot due to the incomplete amputation and the corns on her good toes. Corns feel like walking on tiny rocks all the time. Even with all her foot problems she rarely slows down. She loves to run and play and doesn't worry too much about her foot. She loves going for walks and gets so excited to see the leash. After we took care of her toe we changed her name to Lucky which was more fitting for her. Lucky is full of energy and is a real love to everyone who meets her. Whoever meets this happy little girly is going to fall madly in love! So much happiness and personality in this one. Lucky's sire is the famous Trent Lee and her dam is Dakota's Peggey. She is a tiny girl who weighed just 56lbs at the vet. Lucky is young and turned 2 on April 4th. She passed her cat and small dog tests at the track. She was fostered with a cat in her first foster home and did fine with it. Lucky doesn't seem to be stressed by much and was roaching (Sleeping on her back with her feet in the air which is the sign of a relaxed happy greyhound). Lucky is doing great on hardwood floors. She gets excited and jumps on people sometimes, so it is a good thing she is a tiny girl. She doesn't like to be bothered while lying down, so needs to be placed in a family with older kids capable of understand the saying "let a sleeping dog lie" or placed with no kids. She is friendly and goes right up to everyone for attention and seems like she is going to be a very loving pet and companion. This is the cutest little girl! |

She mainly competed at the mid levels of racing but did get up to the top A level briefly. She raced at 60lbs and turned 3 on April 13th. Her sire is KC and All and her dam is B's Elite Wendy. She gets along well with other dogs. She cried a little just the first night in the new house but quieted down after that. She hasn't even had one accident in her foster home and acts like she has been in a home before. More as we get to know her. |

Orbit just arrived from the Blanchard Kennel at the Orange Park Race Track. He started out his career at Southland in Arkansas in January of 2019. He only raced 4 races there and came in toward the back of the pack in all of those. He sprained an ankle and was healed up before moving to the Orange Park track. He started racing there in May, but only raced twice before he sprained his ankle again. He hasn't raced since May to give his ankle plenty of time to heal up. It is totally healed but they decided not to return him to racing. Orbit's sire is Defrim Bale and his dam is Arkuska Dolly. We placed his littermate Listen Linda in May. Orbit turned 2 on May 26th. Orbit passed his small dog test and likes the kids he met. |

He started racing at Palm Beach and also raced at Melbourne, Naples - Ft. Myers, and Flagler. He got up to the top A level of racing and had a long career. His sire is KC and All and his dam is JS Summer Hummer. Party Time is named appropriately according to his trainer. He is very outgoing and kissy guy that is a kennel favorite. His foster home decided to keep him. |

So far she has been pretty quiet so may be a good apartment dog. She is very sweet with a bubbly, happy, personality. Dina is very social and loves to cuddle and is curious about everything new. She is food motivated and very social. |

He turned 2 on April 14th. His sire is College Causeway and his dam is Boc's Jennyfinch. Piddy has been a little timid, shy and overwhelmed at first, but is very sweet. He is quiet in his crate, loves meal time and will let you know when he needs to go out in the morning. He gets along great with the two greyhounds in his foster home and is fine with the 5 year old child there. He also passed his small dog and cat tests so should be fine to live with either. |

Indy just arrived from the Bolton Farm in farm in Florida. She is a one-eyed girl due to an ocular tumor that caused her eye to have to be removed. She has never looked in a mirror so has no idea she only has one eye. She raced a total of 100 races at Sanford Orlando and at Derby Lane in Florida and was really good. Most of her races were at the top A level and at one point in her career she won 4 top level races in a row. Twice she won 3 in a row. She was quite the star. So she went back to the farm to be a mom after she retired in March of this year. Sometime after she got to the farm the tumor was discovered in her eye and it was removed by their vet. Her owners changed their minds about letting her have puppies because of the situation with racing ending in Florida. So now Indy is up for adoption. This sweet girl raced at 60lbs and will turn 5 on December 2nd. Her sire is Surf Lorian and her dam is I Got The Luck. She seems like a calm girl that walks good on leash. She paid no attention to the cats and small dogs she met at the vets office so should be fine to live with either. More as we get to know her. |

Jack just came in from the Blanchard Kennel at the Orange Park Race Track in Jacksonville Fl. He never showed promise as a racer so was retired straight out of training and never had an official race. He is a very young, handsome black boy that won't even turn 2 until March 25th of next year. His sire is Boc's Tony Romo and his dam is DK's Leapinlizzy. Jack is a tiny boy that weighed in at just 63lbs at the vets. He is a friendly, happy, young guy with a very fun, playful personality. He passed his cat and small dog test with some curiosity and sniffing, but just seemed playful and was happily greeting them. Jack really liked the small kids he met and followed them around. He seems like a very sweet boy that is pretty well behaved for such a young guy. |

Lippie is a young white male with black spots. He just arrived from the Bolton Kennel at the Sanford Orlando Race Track. Lippie won't even turn 2 until April 15th of next year. He had a minor muscle injury and got sore after training, so they decided to retire him young. He never actually raced. Lippie's sire is TK Quick Strike and his dam is TMC's Sweety Pie. Lippie is a very tall lanky boy that weighed 76lbs at the vets. He doesn't have an official racing weight since he never raced. Lippie showed no interest in the cat whatsoever during his cat test so we think he should be fine to live with cats and small dogs. He loved the kids he met so seems like he would be good with kids too. He was a little whiny the first night in the kennel. |

She turned 3 on April 11th. Lynx is a beautiful dark red color with dark hair mixed in with the red. She passed her cat and small dog tests so should be fine in a home with either. She was a little overwhelmed at first and had her tail tucked some, but still went up to adults and the small children she was introduced to and wasn't really shy. Even though everything was new she would still wag her tail some. She seems like a very calm sweet girl. |

Sweet Tart just arrived from the Ryan Kennel at the Palm Beach Race Track in Florida. She is a black female that raced at 65lbs. She raced 49 races mainly at D level and only ever won 5 of those races. She wasn't a very good racer so was retired. She turned 3 on June 27th. Sweet Tart's sire is KC and All and her dam is WW's Mint Candy. So far she seems like a happy outgoing girl that is curious about everything. She is bouncy and has a lot of personality and she seems to be on the more active side for a greyhound. She did well in her cat test at first, keeping her distance. After the cat hissed and slapped her, she barked at it and showed more interest. We put her in a foster home to see how she did with their cats and she seemed to become more interested in the cat with time. So we think she needs a home with no kitties. She liked the small kids she met and seems to like everyone. She did fine with a small white dog she met too. |

Grapefruit just arrived from the Ryan Racing Kennel at the Palm Beach Kennel Club. She raced 48 races there mainly at the lowest levels. She only won 2 of those races so wasn't a very successful racer. She just turned 3 on October 12th. Her sire is Flying Fired Up and her dam is WW's Key Lime. Grapefruit seemed a bit overwhelmed at first with everything new and so far has been a bit timid. She seems very calm and well behaved. When she first met the cat she stared at it and was very focused, until it slapped her. Then she screamed, ran away and wouldn't even look at the cat again. We retested her with another cat a few days later and she wouldn't get close to the cat and didn't want to have anything to do with it at all. She was also fine with the small dogs she met. She was a little timid with the small kids she met. |

Grenade is an extra large black male that raced at 91lbs. We also placed his littermate Gambino so were very excited to get him too. He came in from Derby Lane in Florida where he raced 93 races there. Grenade was a good racer and raced his last race on June 4th 2014. He finished the race but slowed some and came up lame afterward due to a minor hock sprain that healed completely. Grenade was adopted by a family in August of 2014 that has had to return him to us due to financial issues. Grenade turned 8 on January 16th so qualifies for our senior adoption fee of $250. His sire is Tyrur Alex and his dam is Fire Storm Drive. Grenade passed his cat test and lived in a home with cats and small dogs so should be fine in a home with either. He is very friendly and loves everyone he meets. Grenade would be an excellent therapy dog or meet and greet dog since he loves kids and is very gentle and friendly with everyone he meets. |

Poppy just came in from the Birmingham Race Track Adoption Kennel. She didn't actually race there but was moved there because they transport a lot of dogs to adoption groups across the country. Poppy is a cute, friendly, brindle girl that just turned 6 on March 15th. She raced 142 races, mostly at Palm Beach but also raced some at Bluffs Run. Poppy raced mostly at the mid level C and B races but did make it up to the top A level one time. Her last race was March 10th of 2018. She raced at 64lbs. Her sire is the famous Rhythmless and her dam is Keen Katy. Poppy was a little interested in the cat when she first saw it, but calmed down after she sniffed it and realized what it was. We think she would be trainable with cats with a careful introduction and she is being fostered in a home with cats. Poppy was fine with the yorkie and italian greyhound that she met and is being fostered with a small dog. She is great on walks and has been settling in to foster care very well. She has been fostered in a townhouse and is pretty quiet in her kennel so may be good for apartment or townhouse living. Poppy is a very sweet girl that is pretty calm and friendly. She is missing about half of one ear due to some rough play with her littermates as a puppy. This just makes her cuter. Poppy was adopted in April of 2018 and has been in a home since then so is already home acclimated. Her human mom developed bad allergies to dog dander so they are having to rehome Poppy. |

Valry just arrived from the Birmingham Race Course, where she raced most of her 94 races. She also raced briefly at Mobile and Palm Beach Tracks. Although she raced a lot of races she rarely won and mainly just placed at the lower levels of racing. She is a small black girl that raced at 58lbs. She turned 3 on June 27th. Valry's sire is the famous Oshkosh Slammer and her dam is Atascocita Davia. She is a friendly, happy girl with a tail that wags a lot. She is pretty calm and very sweet. Valry passed her cat and small dog tests without much interest in either. She seems to like the young boy in her foster home so should be good with kids. She travels really well too. |

Tara is a brood mom that we met on one of our track trips. She came in from the Bolton Farm in Florida. She raced at the Bolton kennel at Sanford Orlando most of her career. She also raced briefly at Flagler and Naples Ft Myers. Tara was a big star the race track and won an amazing 9 top A level races IN A ROW. She was so fast that her finishes were described as Electrifying, Cyclonic, Explosive, and Super Sonic. Unless she was bumped, blocked or actually fell, she almost always won. A true superstar that was retired at the top A level in November of 2015. She went back to the farm to have pups then. We got to meet some of them on one of our group's track trips. Now she has been retired from mom duties and is available for adoption. She turned 6 on January 12th and raced at 61lbs. Her sire is the famous Djays Octane and her dam is Fuzzys Autumn. This is a very special girl and her owner and trainer want to stay in touch with her pet owners and get updates. Tara has been in a adoptive home since November, but their dog bit her and she was uncomfortable around him after that. They think she would do better in another home. Tara is more comfortable around women and can be a little timid of men at first. Tara passed her cat test and just sniffed the cat. She was fostered with small dogs and was fine with them too. |

Heritage now know as Rosie came in initially from the Birmingham Race Track where she raced 48 races. She was retired for bumping into and playing with other racers during races. That isn't allowed. Her sire is BD's Grayson and her dam is Flying Marietta. Rosie is a smaller red female that raced at 57lbs. She turned 7 on the 4th of July. She is greyhound grinner! When she is happy she will do the cutest big grin and show her teeth. Heritage did pass her cat and small dog tests at the racetrack but hasn't lived with them since then. Rosie has been in an adoptive home since she was 2 years old and they changed her name from Heritage to Rosie. She is back with us because her family's other greyhound died and she was not happy as an only dog. She is doing great around other dogs and greyhounds since she has been in foster care though. She is good with children. She has no health issues, is up to date on everything medically, and is ready to go home again. Another dog is a requirement for any family that wants her. Another group that only handles older returns asked if they could place Rosie with one of their adopters that was a good match for her. |

Lashes just arrived from a farm in Arkansas. She never raced due to a muscle injury as a puppy and has just been living on the farm up until now. The injury is long healed and she can run and play without any problem. She just wouldn't be fast enough to race with an old injury although she doesn't seem to limp and looks like she runs pretty fast. Lashes is a mostly white female with brindle spots. She was never given a registered racing name. We called her Lashes because she has a tiny spot of fur that grows out her lower lash line that looks like she is wearing a false eyelash. The vet clipped the hair off when she was under for her spay and it may need to be trimmed every so often as it grows out. The rest of her litter were registered and are now racing. They all have the prefix SJ's. Her sire is Starz Jenko and her dam is Go Home. Lashes was born on July 26th of 2017 so she just turned 2. She is an outgoing girl that loves everyone she meets. She is just a little overwhelmed so far with everything new but even while having her first bath, she snuggled and kissed her foster mom. This is a really sweet girl that showed no interest in the small white dog she met other than a casual sniff and even let him eat her food. Lashes was good with the cats she met too and seemed to be like the small children she met. |

Edge just arrived from the Blanchard Kennel at the Orange Park Race track. He only had 3 schooling races and finished toward the back of the pack in all of them. He was more interested in playing with the other dogs than chasing a lure. He even raced one of his schooling races with blinkers on in hopes it would encourage him to focus on the lure instead of playing with the other dogs. Playing with the other racers is not allowed during races and is the quickest way to be retired. So Edge won't turn 2 until June 6th and is already retired and looking for a home. He is a silly guy that loves to run and play but he calms down nicely and sleeps in his crate and is very quiet in the crate even when completely alone. So he may do fine as an apartment dog or an only dog. He has done fine with the small dog in his foster home but does want to play with him. He would need rules and supervision with very small dogs just because of the size difference. Edge passed his cat test at the vet's without much interest. When he got into a foster home with kitties he got more interested in them moving around him so we decided that he would do better in a home without cats. He really liked the small kids he met and was fostered with a small child. Edge raced at 69lbs so is a smaller guy. His sire is Dox Out Of Peace and his dam is Superior Carly. Edge is a very good boy that responds really well to correction. He is calm for such a young dog but does have some energy because he is so young. He will run around the yard a few times and settle right down though. He is curious about everything. He has done very well on his potty training. Updated Description! Edge, now known as Bowie, is once again available for adoption. His family loves him very much, but they have recently brought home an adorable newborn! His behavior has since changed significantly demonstrating that he's just not going to be safe with the infant in the home. This is unusable in greyhounds, but in his case they have tried very hard to turn the situation around. We agree with their decision completely and will move Edge into foster placement as soon as we find a good location. He is a great dog and this is the one and only reason they are returning him to us. To reflect this, we have changed the status above to reflect "older children only" so that interested adopters will see this explanation. |

Fuzzy just arrived from the Blanchard Kennel at the Orange Park Race Track in Jacksonville FL. She also raced at Dubuque and Naples Ft Myers. Fuzzy raced 131 races and won some. She competed in a couple of stakes races too. Fuzzy raced at 61lbs and will turn 4 on December 5th. Her sire is Boc's Blast Off and her dam is Superior Peace. Fuzzy is very happy and outgoing and loves attention. She loves other dogs of all sizes and gets playful and bouncy wanting to play with them. She passed her cat easily and wanted nothing to do with the cat after her first sniff led to a smack by the cat. She is being fostered with cats and is doing great with them. Fuzzy passed her test with small dogs as well, but because of her playfulness with other dogs really tiny dogs might get accidentally hurt. She would love a home with a medium or large dog though. Fuzzy crates nicely and loves belly and ear rubs. She is a real sweetheart!!! |

Templeton is from a litter that was all named for Charlotte's Web characters. Templeton was the very intelligent rat in the story. He is a very young guy that won't turn 2 until September 28th. His sire is Seldom Told and his dam is B My Erica. We met this litter of puppies a year ago, when they were small, on a trip to the Bolton Farm in Florida. Templeton never had an official race because he was just was not fast enough. He was pulled out of the one race he was supposed to race at the last minute. Several pictures of him and his litter as puppies is up at the Sanford Orlando Race Track, on the rail though. We have a photo of it in his pictures. We do have a few pictures of the litter from our trip to his farm last year. He was an excellent traveler on the trip back from Florida. Templeton seems pretty calm and quiet for such a young guy. He is a mid sized guy at 73lbs. Fearless and confident, he strolled right across the shiny hardwood floors without any trouble and the vacuum didn't phase him either. Templeton settled into his crate nicely and was quiet there too. He chatters his teeth when excited - some greyhounds do this and we think it is really cute. Templeton is a happy boy that comes running to see you with his tail wagging. Very sweet guy! |

Sweet Senior! Rumble is a mid sized 73lb, friendly, brindle guy. He raced 9 races years ago at Jefferson County Kennel Club in Florida before they closed. DOB is 3/27/07 so he is a senior that qualifies for our reduced adoption fee of $250. He was adopted way back in 2009 out of our Tri County Tech program and has been in a home since then. HIs family is having to move in with their father to take care of him and will not be able to bring their 3 senior greyhounds with them. They are asking for our help rehoming all three of their dogs. Rumble is very laid back guy. He is a leaner and wants to be with people. He is very bonded with their 11 year old female named Leena and we would love to place them together if we can. We understand that finding someone to take two 11 year olds at the same time is not something that may be possible, so we will consider placing them separately too. Their other 8 year old greyhound, Razor, would be fine being placed separately. All three dogs have the same sire Maryville Rumble. Rumble's dam is Regall Redrocket. The photos of Rumble were from when he first arrived. All three of the dogs have been living with cats. They have not lived with children but have been great with the kids they have met. |

Sweet Senior! Leena raced at Derby Lane, Naples Ft Myers, Sarasota, and Palm Beach Race Tracks. She was moved around a lot looking for a track she could be competitive at. After 25 races and only 1 win her owners decided she wasn't cut out to be a racer and retired her. We placed a couple other pups her mom had too. Leena is a pretty, red brindle female with white on her feet, chest and tail that can be sensitive and a bit timid at first. DOB 10/17/06, she is 11 and will turn 12 on October 17th. Since she is a senior Leena qualifies for our reduced adoption fee of $250. Leena has been in an adoptive home since December of 2010. Her family is having to move in with their father to care for him and they cannot bring their 3 greyhounds with them. They have made the decision to re-home their 3 senior greyhounds Leena, Rumble and Razor. Leena and Rumble are both 11 and very bonded. They sleep curled up together and often choose to sleep in the same crate together and do not like if if the are put into crates separately. It would be nice to find them a home together, but we understand that may not be possible, so will consider placing them individually. Razor is 8 years old and his owners believe he would do fine without the other two. All have the same sire Maryville Rumble and all are brindles. Leena's dam is Too Shy To Say. They have been living with cats. They have not lived with kids but have been fine with children that they have met. The photos we have now of them are from when they were younger. |

Kareuhline is just coming in from the Lester Raines kennel at the Orange Park Race Track. She is a fawn brindle female (tan with black tiger stripes). She only raced 7 races and usually finished toward the back of the pack. She didn't win any races so she was retired. She raced at 64lbs and turned 2 on July 5th. Her sire is Legull and her dam is Cerreal. Her trainer says she is a really sweet friendly girl. More as we get to know her. |

El Jefe just arrived from the Sarasota Race Track. He also raced at Ebro, Melbourne and Mardi Gras. He got up to B level and won a few races off an on. He raced 60 races in all. El Jefe is a gorgeous shiny black male that raced at 68lbs and just turned 3 on March 20th. His sire is the famous Trent Lee and his dam is SH Eywa. El Jefe seems like a calm loving guy. He passed his cat test and should be able to live with small dogs as well. He is friendly and sweet. Update! El Jefe is returning to GC through no fault of his own. He's been living peacefully with cats, and we've been told is also perfectly safe with small dogs and children. He might do better in a home without another large dominant male because conflict caused by a dog (not a greyhound) in his previous situation has now created a problem. This gorgeous fella just needs some time to relax and find his new perfect family. |

Cookie just arrived the Bolton Kennel at the Sanford Orlando Race Track. She had a good career of 96 races there and raced much of her career at the top A level. She turned 3 on June 15th. Her sire is the very famous Lonesome Cry. We have placed a lot of his puppies. Her dam is Stevie Nicks and we have placed one of Cookie's half sisters named In A Blinkofaeye. Cookie is a sweet friendly girl that seems pretty calm. She is a rare light fawn, a very light blonde color with big dark eyes. She just stares at you when she wants attention. Cookie passed her cat test at the vets office and was around a small white dog when she first arrived and was fine with him too. She is a very sweet girl that is doing great in foster care. Her foster mom says that if she even has to tell her no, she responds right away. |

This is a rare greyhound puppy! This is a very small brindle female that won't race due to being born with a deformed leg. We will have her checked to see if there is anything that can be done for the leg after she arrives. As it is, she has no idea that anything is wrong with her or her leg. It is all she has ever known, so she has adapted and runs and plays normally. She is a very happy, outgoing pup that has quite the personality according to her owner. She is only 11 weeks old so is small right now, about the size of a large cat, but will be nearly adult sized in 6 months. Raising a greyhound pup is nothing like adopting a retired adult racer. They are hyper and can be very destructive. Imagine having a large breed puppy that can run 40 mph and needs to run and play most of the day. If their energy isn't drained in appropriate ways they will get into trouble. A large fenced yard is required for puppy adoptions. We recommend doggy daycare unless you have other dogs that will run and play with the puppy. Running and play is important to develop the strong bones and muscles they need to prevent injuries. Crating is important for potty training and when they aren't supervised to keep the puppy and your house safe. More as we get to know her. |

Washy is a red female that just came in from a farm in Arkansas. She was a fantastic racer racing 162 races at the top AA levels at both Southland and Wheeling. She also was in some stakes races. Washy retired from racing in July of 2016 and went back to the farm to become a mom. She had two puppies in 2016 AMF Keep Wishing and AMF You Wish who are already retired and placed in adoption groups. Those are the only two puppies registered so far but she may have other litters that are under two and not registered or racing yet. Washy is a tiny 55lb girl. She is calm and friendly. She crates very quietly and seems good on leash. She cooperated very nicely during her bath and leaned against her foster mom and rubbed her nose on her. She jumped right up into her crate in the van on the trip home. Washy's sire is Kiowa WW Brother and her dam is AMF Push. She will turn 8 on December 15th. She passed her cat test without much interest and also seemed fine with the small dog she met. She liked the kids she met too. |

He passed his cat test and just sniffed but wasn't that interested. |

Buzzy is a retired brood that just came in from a farm in Arkansas. She retired from racing in November of 2013. She has 4 litters of puppies in 2015, 2016 and 2017 for a total of 18 pups. Buzzy raced at Daytona Beach, Southland and Orange park race tracks. She wasn't very good, only winning 10 of her 86 races. She mainly raced at the lower levels. She has an excellent bloodline. Her sire is the very famous Oshkosh Slammer and her dam is Bonex. Buzzy turned 9 on July 17th. She raced at 60lbs. Buzzy is a calm sweet lady. Buzzy passed her cat and small dog tests and seemed to like kids too. She was calm and seemed to like to travel and go for rides. She is great with all the other greyhounds in her foster home too. She seems like the perfect girl. Because of her senior status Buzzy qualifies for our reduced adoption donation of $250. |

Miles just came in from the Sanford Orlando Race Track Kennel. He also raced at Derby Lane and Palm Beach in Florida. Miles has been promised to our group since he was a puppy. He was named for one of our volunteer's dogs that passed away. We first met Miles at around 8 months old at his farm in Texas and have followed him growing up through training and his career of 81 races. We have photos of him along the way and he even has his own Facebook page for his followers so he is pretty special. Miles will turn 4 on December 10th. His sire is the famous Trent Lee and his dam is CTW Flirtatious. Miles is a smaller guy that raced at just 68lbs and is a stocky muscular guy, so is pretty short for that weight. He wasn't a great racer, mainly winning at the lower levels and only briefly getting up into the top A level one time. He was retired because he broke his outside back toe in his last race. Our vet amputated that toe and unless you count the toes you won't even notice one is missing. Miles definitely doesn't notice and has felt better since the problem toe came off. He is healed up and ready to go home now. Miles is a very outgoing guy that loves everyone he meets, kids and adults alike. He bounces happily to see you when you get home, but calms down nicely. He will stand next to you for petting for nearly as long as you will pet him. Although he is mostly quiet in his crate and crates really well, he sometimes makes some noise when he can see or hear people outside and wants to go see them. He potties nicely on walks and walks nicely on leash so wouldn't require a fenced yard. He gets along great with other dogs large and small and was living with an Italian Greyhound in his foster home and is exceptionally tolerant of the little guy. He is being fostered now with cats and is doing great with them too. Miles is a very sweet boy that loves people and is going to make a very loving pet. He is shiny and gorgeous. |

She was pretty good getting up to the top A level for part of her career. She raced at 60lbs and just turned 4 years old on July 20th. Her sire is Golden Squire and her dam is Forger. She is a very outgoing girl that was a favorite of ours on kennel visits. Very social and very well behaved according to her trainers. Her trainers have one of her littermates as a pet at their house. Smuggler is little Miss Personality and is the most vivid red brindle. Just stunning. Smuggler passed her cat and small dog tests without much interest. She loves kids and everyone she meets. She is just precious! |
