Robbie is a handsome white boy with a few black spots. He came in from the Sanford Orlando Race Track. He raced at 72lbs and will turn 4 on August 21st. He is tall and narrow for his weight. He raced 117 races at Orlando and also Birmingham and Sarasota. He got up to B level and won some races and placed in a lot more. His sire is Rhythmless and his dam is Al Kiowa Carbon. Robbie seems like a friendly guy that likes people. He loves the girl dogs and spends most of his time flirting without much success. He doesn't give up easily even when faced with total rejection. Robbie is a sweet boy that just wants a little love. He can be a bit dramatic and squealed when he got a pill even though he didn't flinch when he got his vaccinations. Robbie passed his cat and small dog tests easily. He is not going to be a good apartment dog because he does bark some in his kennel.

Robbie was adopted in 2016 and had a great but short life with his new family. He was lost to cancer in late 2017. RIP Robbie. You will be missed.

Susan just arrived from the Sanford Orlando track in Florida. She is a white female with black spots that raced at 57lbs. Susan retired after 23 races due to a sprained hock. She won't turn 3 until October 2nd. Her sire is the very famous Flying Penske and her dam is Fuzzys Sylvia. Susan did pass her cat test at the track so should be fine to live with cats or small dogs. She is described as being very friendly. More as we get to know her.

Susan was adopted in March of 2014 and called Moo by her new family. After an eventual diagnosis of a brain tumor, Moo lived the last month of her life comfortably and better-fed than her brothers and parents. We lost her in January of 2018. Although her parents only got to spend a few short years with her, they will forever remember--and miss--her uncanny ability to fit herself into any niche possible in order to snuggle with them.  The couch just isn't the same without you, Moo

Kane is a gorgeous light fawn boy with dark ears and dark hair tips, almost sabling. he will celebrate his 5th birthday on Nov 8th. He raced at 66lbs so is a smaller male. Kane had a long successful race career of 200 races at Orange Park in Jacksonville Fl. He broke his leg in his last race and his racing owner paid to have our vet do a surgical repair and for his boarding there while it healed up for the last couple of months. Unfortunately he developed a dangerous bone infection after surgery and he ended up losing his back right leg. He gets around fine without the leg though and as long as he stays thin he should be able to do stairs, jump on and off furniture, and run and play like any other dog. Our vet says Kane has been a wonderful guest there and has become a favorite of her staff. He just hangs out in the treatment room with her own tiny dogs and the cats that live there and is very good with all small animals and all people he has met. He has been very good with all the treatment he has recieved and just loves people and attention. He is very very calm and well behaved. Our vet said she wished she could keep him herself because he is one of the sweetest greyhound she has ever treated. This tripod is a very special boy in more ways than one.

Kane was in a wonderful home since 2013. He broke his remaining back leg and it was unable to be fixed. He crossed the bridge in Jan of 2018.

Rosie is a drop dead gorgeous girl that was also blessed with a wonderful personality. She is curious about everything and wants to check everything out at first but calms down nicely and is well behaved. When she first got to her foster home she greeted the other dogs then found the toys and started to play. Definitely a dog that will be comfortable and not phased by new things and going new places. This stunning girl is a larger girl that raced at 67lbs. Her birthday is October 15th. She is a very happy, outgoing girl that is very loving towards people and she seems to get along well with other dogs as well. Rosie loves to play with toys especially stuffed animals that squeak. Her racing owner says that Rosie and her mom both had a wonderful sense of humor and are fun dogs. Both were a joy to have in their kennel and never caused any type of problem. Rosie did fantastic at her first meet and greet and would greet everyone she saw. She liked children and adults and would bump them with her nose to get more petting if they stopped petting her. Rosie was a good racer but was retired because of a limp that would appear off and on after some races. It stems from an old injury to her hock that she had as a puppy. It has been looked at by our vet and won't effect her life as a pet since she won't run as hard playing as she did at the race track. She loves to run and play with other dogs and that doesn't seem to bother her or cause any limping. Walks don't bother her either and she would love to go for walks with her new owner. Rosie is a great girl that would be good in just about any home or situation.

Rosie had a wonderful life with her family and crossed the bridge on Dec 1st 2017 due to cancer. RIP Rosie you will be missed.

Fostered by (location):

Adoption Status: Adopted by the Styles Sanso Family of Florida 4/3/16

Andy is a light fawn male greyhound that came in from the Orlando Track. He raced 4 maiden races in Palm Beach but didn't do well so he was moved to Orlando to try his luck there. Right after he arrived in Orlando he had a seizure at the end of June 2014. His racing owner retired him right away and they held him for a couple of weeks until we could get to Orlando to pick him up. Andy was with us for months and never had another seizure, so our vet advised us not to start him on the medication to prevent seizures unless he had another one. After he was adopted he had one seizure at the end of October and a couple more in December and a number in two days around Christmas. He was returned to us by his family because they didn't want to give him the inexpensive medication necessary to stop the seizures, even though they knew when they adopted him that he had had a seizure and would need medication if he ever had more. Our vet checked him as soon as he was returned and put him on Phenobarbital. He had one more seizure after a few days so Potassium Bromide was added. He has had no seizures since then in the last 2 months and our vets feel we have regulated his seizures and have released him for adoption. Andy is a very calm, well-behaved boy that is a beautiful light fawn with dark sabling on his face and neck. The medication does have a slightly sedating effect so he is going to be very calm and and more laid back than most greyhounds. Andy loves to go for walks and an occasional run in the yard. Andy is young and turned 2 on September 1st. He is a smaller guy, racing at 67lbs. His sire is Little Andy and his dam is Backwood Terri. He passed his small dog test and is doing great with small dogs in his foster home. Andy was interested in chasing the cats until one slapped him, then he panicked, slipped, and fell down trying to get away from the cats. We couldn't get him to go back near the cats again. So a home with a cat that would stand his ground should be all it would take for Andy to stay away from the cat permanently. Andy loves to go for rides in the car and will wait in the car for you happily when you run your errands. Andy is a very sweet, loving guy and his foster dad has been taking him to work with him every day. Everyone that meets him falls in love with his sweet loving personality. He was fostered with a 2 year old and loves kids. Andy can be a little noisy in his crate so would not be a good choice for apartment living. Andy does have an issue with pottying on leash- it takes him a very long time to go on leash, iF he goes at all. Andy seems to like his privacy and does much better when he can potty in a fenced yard off leash so he has to have a home with a fenced yard.

One of Andy's former foster homes that has moved to Florida decided to adopt him. He only lived another year and a half and his seizures became more difficult to control. The Sanso Family lost him to seizures that wouldn't stop in October of 2017.

Courageous is a beautiful, sweet girl that is very friendly. She is laid back and well behaved. She is just retiring from her life as a mom and had one litter of pups more than a year ago. She was a fantastic mom and chose to spend an entire year raising her pups. They finally had to separate them when the pups went off to race training and she missed them so much. She travels well and just laid down in the car on the trip up from Florida most of the way. She did come up every now and then to check in and get petted. She did fine with two smaller dogs she has met so far so seems like she will be OK with them. She needs to be cat tested. Courageous is a grinner and will do the famous greyhound smile for you when she is happy. There was a lake on the farm where she has lived and she reportedly loves water and likes to swim. More as we get to know her.

Courageous was renamed Emma and lived in her adoptive home until December of 2017 when she passed away suddenly due to cancer. RIP Emma.

Apple is a tiny, black girl with a white face that raced at just 55lbs. She just retired from the Orlando race track. She lived in a foster home with a cat and a bird and has been around the tiniest of dogs and did fine with everything so far so seems to be a very low prey drive girl that can live with anything. She was born on September 7th of 2007 so is 4 years old. Her foster mom says she is sweet and friendly and always does the right thing and is so well behaved. She is quiet in her crate and clean in the house and even asks to go outside when she needs to go. She follows her foster mom around like a shadow and loves to be with her. She will stand forever with her head in your lap for petting and will choose to lay on cold tile next to you over a dog bed across the room. Her foster mom says that she will be a blessing to the lucky family that adopts her. Because she is a quiet girl she should be OK for apartment or townhouse living.

Apple was renamed Rooney and lived with the Young family of Columbia until she passed away from Pancreatitis in December of 2017. She will be missed.

Peterbilt is a gigantic, dark brindle male that raced at 88lbs. He came from the Daytona race track and had a very short racing career. He never actually won a race and was retired after 8 races. He is a very friendly, happy guy that still needs cat testing but is fine with small dogs. Peterbilt seems pretty calm for a guy that isn't even 2 yet. He will turn two on November 7th. His sire is Kiowa Wish Frank and his dam is Pasampsi. He is a happy guy that doesn't seem to be too worried about anything. He just laid down on the haul up from Florida. When another dog growled at him he curled up smaller and turned his head to avoid bumping anyone so he seems like he is just a gentle giant.

Pete was adopted by the Pruitt family of Anderson SC 11/11/12. He became a regular at greyhound events, encouraging greyhound adoption. He lived with other greyhounds and yorkies in his home. He always was a gentle giant and won several largest greyhound contests because he was so big. He crossed the bridge on 12/13/17 shortly after being diagnosed with osteosarcoma (bone cancer). Pete was his mom's heart and will be missed.

Adoption Status: Adopted by the McManis Family of Easley SC 6/21/17

Maddie was initially adopted through another group that has allowed us to re-home her. She was abandoned by her owners a couple of months ago at a boarding kennel. They never returned to pick her up after boarding her there and all attempts to reach them were ignored. So now this sweet older gal is looking for a home. When we took her in, she had a mouth full of bad teeth that had caused her to have difficulty eating and some weight loss. We had her vetted and all the bad teeth pulled so she is feeling much better now. She also had blood work done and appears to be a healthy girl. Maddie is adorable with a very unique roman nose and half a tail. She never raced and was in her previous home since she was very young. She is living with small dogs in her foster home and lived with a male husky in her previous home- he was also abandoned at the boarding kennel.  She also passed her cat test without any interest. Maddie just turned 9 on March 28th. Her sire is Super Lee and her dam is Jax Cleopatra. Because she is a senior, Maddie qualifies for our reduced senior adoption fee of $200. Maddie is a sweet, friendly girl that is calm and well behaved. She has been going outside to do her business at her foster home like a good girl. She kennels quietly so would probably be a very good choice for an apartment. This sweet, well behaved girl is a one of a kind that will stand out in every crowd of greyhounds.

Maggie had only months in her new home and passed away suddenly on November 20th 2017 from a ruptured splenic mass.

He seems like a calm, sweet, well behaved boy. DOB 5/22/08. His sire is Deerfield Site and his dam is Steffie's Charm. He was a pretty successful racer racing 211 races. He past his cat test and is living with a cat in his foster home and doing well with it. Speedo is a happy guy that can be just a little on the goofy side sometimes. He loves people. No his tongue is not abnormally long like it looks in his photos. It was just a very hot day when we were taking pictures of him.

Will is a 73lb mostly white boy with one blue brindle spot on his face and golden eyes. He is has 83 races to his credit and was very good getting up to AA level at Tri-State before being moved to Sanford Orlando to race. Will's sire is Kelsos Fusileer and his dam is Bobby's Blanket. He is described as the happiest boy ever by his trainer. She says he loves cuddles and attention. He turned 4 on April 11th. He did very well on the trip up to the vets and got along well with all the other dogs in a crowded situation. He was pretty good on leash and didn't pull much. He did seem calm and well behaved. He didn't pay much attention to the small dogs at the vet clinic or in his foster home. He also passed his cat test. He politely sniffed the cats and couldn't figure out why they popped him on the nose and weren't friendly with him. So he should be able to live with cats or small dogs. Will did complain loudly about being in his kennel when he first arrived so may not be the best dog for an apartment or townhouse.

Will was adopted by a wonderful family and had a great but short life. He passed away after a freak accident while playing in October of 2017. He ran into a tree in his own backyard and was gone instantly.

Alan is an eight year old boy that is very sweet, calm and well behaved. He is a light brindle with beautiful golden eyes. Alan has so much white in his fur already that he looks like a blue brindle. He has lived in a home for years and was returned with his housemate Fargo because his owner's severe health problems made it impossible for him to care for the dogs anymore. He lived with quite a few other dogs in the home of several different breeds and was good with all of them. He is good with small dogs and passed his cat test so should be fine living with either. Alan and Fargo are in separate foster homes and seem to be doing fine being separated so we will adopt them out separately unless someone wants both of them. Alan is a perfect gentleman and just wants snuggle up and lean on you. He would probably make an awesome therapy dog because of his gentle, calm, friendly nature and because he loves children. Because he has lived in a home for years, Alan is not used to being crated and can be a little vocal about it. He is well behaved out of the crate however so may not need one. Alan is an extra large male and weighed in at the vets at 92lbs and is not fat. Don't let his size worry you though. He is very good on leash and very easy to handle. He is so laid back and really a gentle giant of a guy. He did great at his first meet and greet going up to everyone for love, especially the children. This sweet guy will really steal your heart. Alan has a clean bill of health from our vet and is ready to go home. He just had a fresh dental and got all his shots.

Alan had a wonderful home and lots of love until he passed away in his sleep Jan 7th of 2014. RIP Alan the King of the Couch! We hope you are having all the bananas and kitty food snacks you want at the bridge. We love you and we will always miss you!

Stimulus is a very large, dark brindle male that raced at 80lbs. He has the most beautiful, shiny, dark mahogany looking coat and is just stunning with his white feet and chest. He is a calm but friendly boy that just celebrated his 3rd birthday on April 4th. His sire is the famous Dodgem By Design so he has a lot of half brothers and sisters that we have adopted out. He is a littermate to another dog we just adopted out named Eureka. Stimulus let himself out of his run to join his sister Eureka at the vet clinic. He was out all night with the vet clinic cat and didn't chase him or hurt him. He passed his cat test at the track and subsequent cat tests that we have done. In the middle of all of these very positive results with cats he did become interested in chasing cats he met in one home. It was only that one time and was definitely because he had gotten excited by chasing toys right before being introduced to the cats. We have him listed as "trainable" because of that even though he has shown no interest whatsoever in cats before or since. Stimulus did great at a meet and greet at Petco and seemed to enjoy all the attention. He has started playing with toys in his foster home and will throw them and chase them. He lives with a tiny dog that is squirrel sized and fast moving in his current foster home so seems like an exceptionally low prey drive dog that would be good in any home. He likes the kids he has met and seems like he would be a wonderful family dog. He is a big guy but he is gentle, calm and well behaved so seems like he will be an easy guy that would make a wonderful family pet. He has been living with a very small dog and a large bird in his foster home and is fine with both of them now.

Stimulus was adopted and renamed Cash. He passed away in September of 2017 after fighting cancer for some time.

He was the very first greyhound that his racing owner ever owned so had a special place in her heart. She brought him home for a month while waiting for an adoption group to take him. Harry was named for her friend's father. He is very mellow and lives in his foster home with a cat, walking by and hardly giving a glance. He's already been vetted and has responded well to house-training. He sleeps well in his crate at night too. He is good with kids, cats and other dogs. He played nicely with the two labs in his racing owner's home and loved to play fetch with them. What a nice, all-around greyhound ready for his new home!

Harry was adopted ion 2011 and renamed Bear. Bear was a Therapy Dog and a blood donor and was a wonderful ambassador for the greyhound breed until he passed away on August 12th of 2017.

KB just arrived from the Orange Park track in Jacksonville but she also raced at Tri-State in WV and in Abilene KS. She raced 74 races and raced at 62lbs. She turned 3 on October 7th and her sire is TMC's Remedy and her dam is PTL Banana Cake. KB passed her cat test at the track and did great with a small dog in her foster home so should be able to live in a home with cats and small dogs. She traveled well on the trip to the vet and mostly just laid down in the van. KB is a pretty, calm girl but does enjoy playing with the other dogs. She is good on leash and is a very, sweet, happy, outgoing girl. She was an easy well behaved girl so we gave her to a first time foster home. This is a great gal.

KB was a great girl and loved very much until she passed away in May of 2017.

Even though she ran a lot of races she only won 5 of them. Her sire is Kiowa Pretence and her dam is Sheena Shines. She is described as being a very friendly social girl that goes up to everyone for love. She is calm and well behaved though. Faith has been pretty overwhelmed since she arrived and has been pretty shy with us. Since she was so outgoing with her trainers at the track we are sure she will warm up fast. She passed her small dog test and didn't even get up from laying down when she saw him.

Faith was renamed Neala and lived happily in her adoptive home with the Persic family until she passed away suddenly on 6/26/17 due to either a blood clot or a brain tumor.

Kiska was a good racer that raced 172 races at Derby Lane in St Pete Florida. She retired from racing in February of 2010 and began her second career as a mom. She had 2 litters since and raised 11 pups. Kiska has now been retired from that career and is ready to be a pet. She just turned 8 years old on June 16th. Her sire is the famous Gable Dodge and her dam is Flying AC DC. She passed her cat and small dog tests so should be fine to live with either. Kiska has done great in her foster home. She is very confident and doesn't let anything bother her. She gets along great with all the other dogs in her foster home large and small. Kiska walks great on leash and loves to go for walks. She loves to play with squeaky toys even more. She is a very sweet girl that will come up and lean against you for affection. It doesn't show so much in her photos but she is a beautiful light fawn with dark sable tips. She is good with children that treat dogs respectfully but she did take offense to a child that crawled on her and laid on her. So she needs to be placed with children old enough to be taught that you should never lay on or crawl on dogs because it hurts them. Because Kiska is over 8 years old she qualifies for a discounted adoption fee of $200.

Kiska was adopted by a wonderful family in 2014 and had a wonderful life. She was diagnosed with bone cancer in 2016 and survived until March of 2017. RIP Kiska.

Cisco came from the Birmingham Race Track adoption kennel. He raced only 2 schooling races at Tri State in WV in December of 2012, then was moved to Birmingham AL. No official races on him that we could find at that track. Cisco was adopted out from the adoption kennel there and had been in an adoptive home for a little while. He was returned to the adoption kennel in Birmingham because he was "afraid of the dark". They ended up sending him to our group and we figured out that it wasn't really fear of the dark, it is just that he doesn't want to go outside unless another dog is with him, day or night. In spite of not wanting to go outside to potty he would hold it forever in the house and rarely had an accident. Cisco is a very good boy that tries hard to please. He has done great with other dogs around and regularily goes for walks even in the dark as long as another dog is there for company. Cisco's sire is Afleet Alex and his dam is Kelsos Corkhill. He turned 4 on November 12th. So far Cisco has been a very calm, friendly guy that likes everyone and is a super sweet guy. His foster homes have been tempted to keep him because he is so easy to fall in love with. Cisco passed his small dog tests but needs a home without cats. He is a very quiet boy in his kennel so may be a good choice for apartment or townhouse living. He just needs to be in a home with at least one other dog to help his confidence. Cisco is home acclimated, very loving and super cute! He would be an easy first or 5th greyhound.

Cisco was adopted by his foster family and passed away in April of 2017. RIP Cisco!

Adoption Status: Adopted by Little, 4.23.11

Lolita is a pretty little 62lb light fawn girl. This is a littermate to one of our prior placements named Dim Sum and has the same mother as Blondie, Annie and Katie who we placed that have become wonderful pets. She comes from a breeder that hand raises only one litter of racing greyhound pups a year. Most of their dogs are very social and very people oriented. Her racing owner says she is the most loveable, snuggler that he has ever had and is his favorite greyhound of all the ones he has raised. He had a hard time letting her go but already has quite a few greyhound pets in his home so really can't keep another. She has been living with little dogs at his farm and gets along well with them. He says she doesn't pay any attention to the barn cats either so should be fine with either. So far she has been a little overwhelmed with the big move and has been very quiet and subdued and seems like she may be a little shy initially until she gets comfortable in a new situation. Her owner assures us that as soon as she warms up that she will be an incredibly devoted pet. Lolita is the cutest thing with these big doe eyes and stand up ears. She just stares up at you looking for cues on what to do next. When we weighed her at the vets she stood on the scale and didn't move once she was placed there. When we put her in her crate on the hauler she jumped right in but had to be given permission and encouragement to come back out when it was time. She seems like she will be a real easy dog that is going to look to her owner for all her cues and will want to please. She retired and has been living on a farm with her racing owner for awhile and hasn't been in a crate for awhile. She has been a little vocal about her dislike of the crate so may not be the best apartment dog unless she improves.

Lolita lived with her family for 6 years before passing away due to Lymphoma in early 2017.

Shelby has been in an adoptive home for years. She was originally placed by a group in Michigan but moved down here with her family. The place the family moved to here didn't allow pets over 25lbs though so Shelby is looking for a new home. She is a very sweet, friendly girl. She already has good house manners and is good with cats, small dogs and kids. Her family said that she doesn't use the crate anymore and doesn't get into anything when she is out all day. She is a quiet, laid back girl but she still loves to run and play in the yard. Shelby only has 11 races listed at the now closed Dairyland Race Track in 2006 and 2007. Her sire is the famous Dodgem By Design and her dam is Cals Undefined. Her foster family says she is very sweet and easy. Very well behaved and is a fun girl that acts much younger than she is. Because of her age Shelby qualifies for a reduced adoption fee of $200.

Hank was born in 2004 and celebrated his birthday on Dec 27th - the day he officially retired from racing.  Hank is a super friendly guy that wants to be with people more than anything else. He walks wonderfully on leash because he just wnats to be right next to you. This tall guy has lots of personality and couldn't be any sweeter. He crates quickly but needs another quiet dog for company because he dislikes being left entirely alone. Hank likes to go for rides in the car. He passed his small dog test and while initially a little interested in the cat, responded well to correction and quickly lost interest. He should be trainable with cats with careful introductions and a few reminders on what is expected. Hank isn't comfortable in a home with the activity that comes with small children. This is a precious 'velcro doggy' who wants a quiet family to bond with. Owners who are home most of the time would be his dream!

Hank was adopted in 2009 and had a wonderful life with his family until he passed away in February of 2017 at 12 years old. He will be missed by his family and everyone that met him.

Lulu is a sweet brindle girl that retired due to a pretty common minor muscle injury in her back leg. Fortunately this injury heals up well on its own and doesn't cause any limping or permanent problem for the dog. She will be fine to run around again and play very soon and her adoption does not need to be held up because of this type of injury. Lulu is really a nice girl that seems like a pretty laid back girl. Her trainer said she was low key and well behaved and never caused any problems at the kennel and that seems to be a good description of her according to her foster home. She does like toys and will play with them but is a lower energy girl that should be a really easy dog. She is another Maryville Rumble pup and he seems to throw some exceptionally sweet well behaved dogs. We have also adopted out a quite a few pups from her mother's line that have been very sweet dogs. It would be hard to go wrong with this great combination. She is a mid sized female that raced at 62lbs. She seems like she is likely to be the perfect companion and is settling into her foster home as if she has always been there.

Lulu was adopted by the Cox Family in 2011 and lived a happy life with them for 6 years. She crossed the bridge in January 2017 at 9 years old due to colon cancer. RIP sweet girl!

She was moved to Birmingham AL in June and only had 3 races there before she broke her leg badly in a race on June 13th and was unable to finish the race. She was splinted by the track vet and was brought to the track adoption kennel. They took her to a specialist who recommended surgery and performed that surgery on June 16th. Pro Greyhound a charitable greyhound rehab organization funded the expensive surgery which cost over $2000. Her surgery was very successful and her leg looks great, but she managed to break one of the pins. So Stacy had to have the pin and all the hardware removed a few weeks ago. She has recovered from the last surgery and is being released for adoption by our vets. She has healed up very well. Stacy's sire is the very famous Soprano Drive and her dam is Huska Oasis. She is a friendly, happy girl that seems very social and not stressed by new things. Stacy loves people and is very sweet. She is a small girl that raced at 56lbs. Stacy can be vocal in her kennel so would not be a good choice for apartment or townhouse living. Stacy passed her cat and small dog tests so should be fine to live in homes with either. As you can see from her picture, Stacy likes to snuggle and be close.

Stacy was adopted by the Brock Family of Gastonia NC in January of 2016. She ran out through an open door and was hit by a car and passed away on Jan 16th of 2017. She will be missed by her family and everyone that knew her.

Mo is an economy return we've been asked to be given a second chance at a new family because of the loss of a job. He is not being returned because of any behavior problem. Mo likes: rides in the car, walks long or short, a good belly rub, treats, human companionship and a nice cuddle in bed (to his disappointment NOT allowed at his foster home). Mo dislikes: cats and being crated. Mo is great with children and tends to be a mama's boy. He came from a household with 3 dogs so should be able to get along great in a home with existing dogs. He is playful, but respectful with his 3 new foster sisters and brother. He has adapted quickly to a new routine and house rules. A smart boy. Mo surprised everyone at the fun run. This quiet laid-back boy can really still run. He held his own at the front of the pack. What a beautiful sight! Sleeping or running Mo is the Magic Man"."

Mo was adopted as a 6 year old in 2011 and had a great home until he passed away in January of 2017. He was loved and will be missed. RIP Mo!

Caleb is a return that came in after living in an adoptive home for about 2 years. He was originally adopted from an adoption group up North. Their family had to return them to us because one of their family members was allergic to them. Caleb is a gorgeous light fawn with black stripes. He raced at 71lbs so is a mid sized guy. He just turned 6 on October 4th. His sire is the famous Lonesome Cry and his Dam is Craigie Maxi. He is friendly, sweet and already home acclimated. He is used to being around the children in his previous home so should be great for a home with kids. He does great at meet and greets, greeting everyone happily. He will give kisses and loves to be petted and loved on. We initially thought he had too high a prey drive to live with smaller dogs because he would bark excitedly at other breeds of dogs so we never let him approach them. We finally actually let him sniff some small chi mix dogs and he was fine after the initial sniff and lost interest. Now we think he just had no idea they were dogs. He will still need an introduction to strange dogs because he still barks but he seems to be good with other breeds once he gets over his initial excitement and knows they are actually dogs. Caleb has wonderful house manners, crates well and is quiet in his crate and sleeps all night in his crate. He does bark some mainly when he gets excited about seeing other dogs or small critters so may not be a good apartment dog. He does potty on leash well so doesn't require a fenced yard if you are willing to leash walk. This is a sweet guy that has been looking for a home for more than 6 months now.

Caleb was adopted and had a great life with his family until December of 2016 when he passed away due to bone cancer. RIP Caleb you will be missed.

Color/Gender:
Dark Brindle Male
Cat Tolerance:

Small Dog Tolerance:
Yes
Good w/ Children:

Fostered by (location):
Johnson, Greenville, SC
Adoption Status: Adopted to the McMahan family of Greenville 8/13/15

Fargo is a very tall, gorgeous guy with a beautiful, shiny, dark brindle coat. He is an extra large guy, one of the tallest we have seen. Because he has a more tall and narrow build, he probably weighs somewhere in the upper 80s instead of in the 90s like a stockier boy his size would. Fargo is not tattooed and never raced we think he may be an AKC bred greyhound rather than a racing bred greyhound. He was acquired by his first owner as a puppy. He has lived in a home as a pet all his life. His first owner had a serious health condition that prevented him from caring for his dogs anymore and relinquished Fargo in 2012. He was quickly re-adopted but now it has happened again. His current owner also has some serious health problems that is forcing her to return her 3 greyhounds to us Fargo, Lucy and Angel. She loves these dogs very much, but just can no longer care for them due to her rapidly declining health.

Fargo is very outgoing and loves everyone he meets. He will give free kisses to everyone. He loves to snuggle and will quickly make himself at home beside you on a bed or couch and is likely to try to get in your lap. Don't plan on napping alone if Fargo is around. He is a happy, silly guy with ton of personality and no one would ever guess that he is an older guy if he didn't have a little gray on his face. He likes to play and run. He is a guy that will be up for any type of activity because he still has quite a bit of energy. He is the typical couch potato though, going for short bursts, then sleeping for hours. Fargo is very smart and curious and opened a crate door, walked inside picked up a dog bowl and carried it out of the crate to hopefully have it filled the first morning in his foster home. He is a fun, entertaining guy that makes his foster home laugh. He seems to adjust well to anything and has shown no anxiety after being moved into foster care. He is just so happy and loves everyone and everything so we think he would make a fantastic therapy dog or meet and greet dog. He will certainly get a lot of attention being the biggest dog in the room and the one with the sweetest, most outgoing personality. Fargo is wonderful with kids. The only flaw we have found with him is that he is afraid of thunderstorms and fireworks. He crates well but isn't always perfectly quiet so may not be an apartment dog.

Fargo was seen by our vet and had a dental and has a clean bill of health and is ready to go home. Fargo passed his cat and small dog tests so should be able to live with either. He lived in a home with a number of other dogs of different breeds both males and females so should be very good with other dogs. This is a super sweet guy!!

Because Fargo is a senior, he qualifies for our reduced senior adoption fee of $200.

Fargo passed away on December 6th of 2016 at the age of 12. He will be missed.

Blondie came in initially from her owner's farm. She had raced 81 races at Derby Lane and the Tampa Track before retiring. And had been retired for nearly a year and living with her racing owner and littermates until she came to our group. She was a good racer getting up to the top A level. Her sire is Be Discrete and her dam is M's Ingrid. She was born Nov 21st of 2004. We got her and 2 littermate sisters Katie and Annie at the same time. Blondie is the most outgoing of the 3 girls. She is pretty outgoing and very sweet. She loves people so much that her owner told us that she would jump out of her 5 foot fence to be around people especially if she was by herself. She never liked being by herself much. So she definitely needs a 6 foot fence or someone that will leash walk her.

Blondie was adopted by Ken Crouch and was the first of many greyhounds for him. Because of Blondie, he got involved in fostering and headed up meet and greets and helped many greyhounds find homes. Blondie was a very special girl. She lived to be nearly 12 years old and passed away on October 20th of 2016. She will be missed by her dad and everyone that knew her. She was responsible for many greyhound adoptions through her dad and her calm sweet way of greeting people at all the meet and greets she went to.

Rainy has been in home for 2 years but their lifestyle recently changed and they really don't have time for her anymore so returned her. Rainy originally came from the Orlando track. She is a sweet, friendly girl that is very happy, confident, and loving. Her tail is happily wagging most of the time. Her birthday is 5/20/09 so she is almost 5. She raced at 60lbs. She passed her cat and small dog tests and has been babysat and fostered with very small dogs and has lived in a home with a cat. Rainy is a Tony's Oracle pup and a full littermate to a wonderful boy that we placed already. She is such a sweet girl and is so happy to see you when you come home, she wags her tail and her entire body. She is a smart girl that likes toys and loved running and playing in her big backyard with her lab housemate. She loves kids but we have her marked older children only because she has growled about her space some when sleeping. She needs to be placed with kids old enough to understand that all dogs need to be left alone when sleeping. She is doing great with the other dogs in her foster home, small and large.

Rainy lived with her new family until 11/16/16 when she died of kidney failure at just 7 years old. She will be missed.

Adoption Status: Adopted by the Perry Family of Greenville 12/24/12

Tessie is a pretty brindle, 5 year old girl that is a daughter of the famous Kiowa Sweet Trey. We have placed many of his pups and they are exceptionally sweet. Tessie raced at 67lbs and just turned 5 on April 23rd. She is a happy, playful, friendly girl that would be an excellent meet and greet dog. She goes up to everyone asking for love. She has lived in a home with another female greyhound (Tamale), cats and a toddler so should be fine in a home with any of those things. Her foster home has a small white fluffy dog that she is also fine with. Tessie did not have a fenced yard in her former home and is used to going outside on leash to potty so should do fine in a home without a fenced yard. She did enjoy going to the neighbor's fence yard to run around occasionally and does still love to run a few laps now and then. Tessie was returned with her housemate Tamale due to financial reasons. Both girls have settled into their foster home and are perfectly behaved and wonderful sweet girls. If you look in their other pictures you will see a photo of the two girls snuggled up together in their foster home. They are very bonded and we are hoping to find a home that can take them together. Tessie is home acclimated and just had a fresh dental and a checkup from our vet. She has already been spayed.

Tessie and her housemate Tamale were placed together with the Perry Family of Greenville SC in December of 2012. Tessie crossed the bridge November 12th of 2016 of an inflammatory disease of unknown origin.

Fostered by (location):

Adoption Status: Adopted by the Colbert Family of Kennesaw GA 9/16/16

Bonnie is a very friendly, sweet girl that is listed as black but actually is more of a beautiful dark brown greyhound than black. She travels well and has traveled all over, racing at many tracks. She started off at Derby Lane in St Pete FL, then went to Ebro, then to Palm Beach and Mardi Gras in Florida. She went to Wheeling WV, then back to Florida to Mardi Gras and on to Sanford Orlando, where we picked her up. She raced 84 races and won a lot of those including top level stakes races. She mainly competed at the longer distances and was the 2014 Ebro Derby Champion. Her sire is the famous Trent Lee and her dam is Kelsos Inga. Bonnie is a tall, leggy beauty that raced at 61lbs. She will turn 4 on October 16th. Bonnie passed her cat test. There was some interest when she first met the cat, but she quickly lost interest and checked out other things. She is fostered in a home with cats and is doing great with them. She loves kids and has children in her foster home that she is very good with. Bonnie has it all, good with cats, kids and other dogs of all sizes. She is gorgeous and has a great personality. She took no time at all to get comfortable in her home and settled right in. She loves to be around people and loves to go for car rides. She has been very quiet in her foster home so may be OK for apartment living.

Sadly Bonnie passed away suddenly of unknown causes after a run on Sat Oct 15th 2016. Only a month after she was adopted. She had a wonderful family and died doing what she loved. RIP Bonnie! You were only with us for a little while but you couldn't have been more perfect.

Delta just arrived from the Melborne Race Track adoption kennel. She raced 34 races in Orlando FL before she broke her leg on November 28th 2014, She also raced about half of her races at Derby Lane in Florida. Her leg was operated on at the track on December 1st and she was moved to the Melbourne Track Adoption Kennel to complete her rehab. Her surgery was a success and the bone healed up completely already. When she arrived some of the wire and pins had broken and worked their way through the skin so she had to have all the hardware removed at the end of February. She is all healed up now and ready to be adopted. She is putting weight on the leg and walking much better since having the hardware removed. Our vet that took out the hardware says the knee looks great and has good range of motion. Delta isn't able to do really long walks or hikes yet but does like to go for shorter walks and will work up to longer walks as her leg gets stronger. She is expected to make a full recovery and will be able to run and play normally. Delta was too interested in the cat to be able to live with cats. She is fine with small dogs. Her sire is Red Ranger and her dam is SE's Racen Rainy. Delta is a calm girl that walks nicely on leash. She goes right up to people and is very sweet and friendly. Delta is a very good girl with some quirkiness. She loves her crate and insists on having a crate to sleep in even if the door is open. Her other quirk is that she waits for an escort in the house. She will just stand at the door with the door open and waits to be led in. What a gorgeous girl! Those eyes!

Delta passed away in 2016 after surgery

Tyson is a famous male greyhound that was a stud dog. He has 39 pups listed so far, with more on the way. He was a great racer that raced AA at Wheeling in West Virginia and competed in Stakes Races. His name will be in many pedigrees of racers of the future. Tyson's sire is the famous Jimbo Scotty and his dam is Concerto. He just turned 11 on June 5th. Adoption Status: Adopted by Burnette, 3.17.11

Clyde is a laid back, friendly guy. He has quickly adjusted to home life. Clyde is smart and learned how to use a doggy door the first day. He has picked up on potty training automatically too. He travels very well and seems to enjoy it. Clyde has been great with his foster family's cat. Although Clyde is very friendly and loves attention he would do best in a smaller, quiet family. He was with a very large family with lots of children for a short time and didn't seem comfortable with the constant activity and would choose to stay in his crate. That is one of the reasons we think he would do better in a family with older, more quiet kids or no kids. Not much phases this guy otherwise. He is a happy go lucky guy that checks in frequently with his family and seems to want to please. He loves to go for walks and is very good on leash and potties quickly on leash when taken outside on leash so doesn't require a fenced yard. He is a more submissive guy temperment wise so seems like he could get along well with other dogs.

Her birthday is September 22 2007 and her sire is Lonesome Cry. She raced at 68lbs so is a larger girl. Nadia has quickly settled in to life as a foster. She is a sweet happy friendly girl and is quickly becoming a favorite of her foster family. She loves toys especially stuffed animals that have squeakies in them. Nadia has crated quietly and has been very well behaved in the house and with the other dogs. She passed her cat and small dog tests so should be fine in a home with either and has been good with the children that she has met. Seems like a great little girl that would do great in just about any situation.

Mo is an extra large male that raced 84lbs. He is very tall and is one of the tallest dogs we have adopted out. He is a gorgeous bright red boy with a white blaze and white feet and chest. Mo hides his age very well and doesn't have any white on his face yet to give his age away. He has very long legs and prances when he trots and is still just stunning at 9 years old. Mo has been in an adoptive home for 6 years and is looking for a new home only because of some financial trouble his family had. Mo was a good racer when he raced and got up to A level at Southland in Arkansas. He raced 78 races. We also adopted out his sire Hey Zohar and his dam Lofty Girl and many of his littermates. Mo loves to play and be silly for a short time but is mostly a couch potato. He is excellent on leash and loves to go for walks. He loves to get up on the couch or on the bed to snuggle with his people. He is very outgoing and isn't bothered by much. On New Years he slept though the fireworks, totally unconcerned. He loves people and will follow you around. He is a more dominant, confident boy so would probably do best in a home with females or other males that aren't real dominant. This is a sweet, loving guy that has been one of his foster home's favorite fosters ever. He shows no prey drive towards cats or small dogs and has lived with them in his previous home. He also lived with a toddler in his previous home.

Their mother Sara had been retired for awhile and was also placed through Greyhound Crossroads. We also recieved a 3rd littermate Kohle a few weeks later and a sister a few months after that that were also adopted through our group. His Pedigree

Update after adoption: Miles has been a great pup. He is very sweet and outgoing and is the happiest dog. He does events to promote greyhound adoption and is a performer with the Hounds of East Fairhaven which is a group that promotes greyhound adoptions at the Georgia and Carolina Renaissance Festivals. Miles earned his Canine Good Citizen title at 8 months old and earned his CGCA title after that. Miles does agility, obedience, rally Lure coursing, amateur racing and Barn Hunt. He finished in the top 20 in LGRA amateur racing in 2012 and in the Top 10 in NOTRA Amateur Racing in 2012 He grew up into a very tall handsome guy. He and his brothers got together to play often.

The pups mother, Sara passed away in Dec of 2013 suddenly of unknown causes. Miles brother, Kohle passed away of cancer in April of 2016 at just 6 years old. Miles brother Otto passed away a couple of months later in June of 2016 of Bone Cancer. Miles went to join his brothers at the bridge 8/5/16 after a very rare condition where bubbles form on the lung and pop causing air around the lungs and the inability to breathe. Emergency surgery was attempted but his lungs had too many of the bubbles on them to save him. There is no known cause and not much is known about the condition. He was a member of the family and his bubbly personality and sweet face will be missed.
