Monty's owner asked us for assistance in finding a new home. They transferred from the UK about three years ago, and unfortunately the owner is being transferred again and can't take Monty this time. Monty raced only 36 races in the UK at Yarmouth, Romford and Hove and Brighton then was retired at age 2 due to a minor injury. His sire is Droopys Vieri and his dam is Oh So Wonderful. Monty has lived with two different small dogs in the past, he passed his cat test with no interest but has show some correctable interest in a couple of cats since so we listed him as trainable with cats. His owner tells us he is very low maintenance, very house trained, and always prefers to be inside with his humans whenever possible. We were told he could be a little shy at first with strangers but at our recent meet and greet he was trying to squeeze in to get love when people were petting other dogs. He seemed very friendly and social. He isn't a real needy guy though and is pretty comfortable just laying around. He isn't fond of thunderstorms or fireworks and lays under a table at his foster home when either is going on. He doesn't like being hugged or having his ears messed with so we have him listed as no small kids since it is hard to explain to small kids why that shouldn't be done. Monty made friends with everyone at the vet clinic during his dental and seems to be a very nice, well behaved boy. He seems like a very bright guy that quickly figured out how to work folding babygate - he just pushed it to the side and walked right though. He's ready to bless the next family with his unique story and sweet companionship! A couple of our members have made generous donations to cover Monty's adoption fee!

Adoption Status: Adopted by the Jordan of Tryon 8/24/13

Jana just arrived from the Orange Park Track in Jacksonville. She is a tiny red fawn female that raced at just 56lbs. She was a good racer that has 123 races to her credit. Her sire is the famous Kiowa Mon Manny and her dam is Kiowa Cruze Fast. She just turned 3 on April 2nd. Jana is a sweet friendly girl that gives kisses and will put a paw out to touch you to get attention if she is laying down. She passed her cat test and was only a little interested in the moving cat. She acted like she knew cats had claws and would back away from the cat and wouldn't get close to the cat. She lost interest quickly even in a tiny kitten and wandered off to look at other things. She is a kennel favorite and they admitted that she was a little spoiled. She liked to be fed first and would bark at them while they were preparing food to remind them to feed her. She is very food motivated and loves to eat. They said she was quiet the rest of the time in the kennel but she is probably too vocal to be an apartment or townhouse dog.

Fireball just arrived from the Orange Park Race Track in Jacksonville Fl. He was a very good racer with 196 races to his credit and some of those were stakes races! His sire is the very famous Kiowa Sweet Trey and his dam is Greys Rubberneck. He turned 4 on Jan 21st. He raced at 72lbs so is a mid sized male. He is friendly and seems pretty calm and laid back. He stood up looking out the window most of the trip up from Florida. He has settled nicely into his foster home and crates quietly. More as we get to know him.

Adoption Status: Adopted by the Bryce Family of Aiken 8/17/13

Buck is a calm but friendly guy. He is a very well behaved, tall, handsome guy with lots of dark eyeliner around his expressive eyes. He raced at a thin 80lbs and weighs closer to 85 now. Buck was returned by his adoptive family because they had a baby. Buck hasn't had much experience with kids and his one quirk is that he is very uncomfortable with kids. He has always backed away from them and tries to avoid them so they felt he would be very uncomfortable and unhappy in a home with a baby. So Buck is looking for a new home with no small kids. Buck turned 7 on March 20th. We originally got him from Jefferson County Kennel Club in Florida when he was younger and he has been in a home since then. He only has 12 races listed. His sire is Stan's Boy Flyer and dam is PA's Trudi. Buck is a calmly friendly guy with adults but he really does tend to shy away from kids at meet and greets. Anyone younger than a teenager makes him nervous. He isn't a nervous dog at all otherwise - just the opposite. At meet and greets he loves people that come by and will even will put a paw up and paw at them for attention. Buck likes to run and play and will play fetch with a ball. He also loves playing with stuffed toys. He is good on leash and loves to go for walks or hikes. He likes to go for rides too. Buck crates quietly and potties on a leash so he would probably be very good in an apartment or townhouse or in a home without a fenced yard. He passed his cat and small dog tests and has lived in a home with cats before so would be great for a home with small animals. Buck has great house manners and never has accidents in his foster home. He has lived as an only dog for years so might be a good dog for someone that only wants one dog.

Cat retired from Sanford Orlando Kennel after racing at Palm Beach and Derby Lane. She raced 124 races in her career. She raced at 65lbs and is a blue fawn. That is an unusual fawn with grey on dark areas instead of the black that most fawns have. It gives her a unique dusty red look. Cat turns 4 on June 16th. Her sire is from Ireland- Swahili Eile. Her dam is Red Hot Victory. Cat didn't pass her cat test so needs a home without kitties. She did do good with the Jack Russell next door even when he was barking and yelping at her but has mistaken really small dogs for squirrels so would need a home without very tiny dogs. She potties well on leash and is very quiet in her crate so might make a good apartment dog. She seems like a very gentle, sweet, calm girl. She has done great with her foster home's grandchildren so should be OK to live in a home with kids. She walks well on leash and travels well. Her foster home says she is nearly perfect and a very easy girl that would be great for a first time foster or adoptive home. She is just gorgeous with her beautiful coloring and cute little ears that stand straight up when she is curious about something.

Isabelle just arrived and was returned to us with Caleb after being in an adoptive home for 2 years together. They were returned due to allergies of one of the family members to them and not through anything they did wrong. Both are well behaved and sweet dogs that have excellent house manners. They don't seem especially dependent on each other so we will place them separately. Isabelle is mostly red with just a little brindle striping and a beautiful white chest. She raced at 64lbs and won't turn 6 until October 1st. Her sire is the very famous Kiowa Sweet Trey and she looks a lot like her famous dad. Her dam is M's Krazy Korner. She has been great with small dogs she has met amd hasn't paid any attention to the cats she has seen at PetSmart either so we think should would be fine in a home with either. She has lived with kids in her previous home and has done well with them so should be a great choice for a home with kids. Issy is confident and friendly at home but seemed just a little stressed at her first meet and greet. She didn't seek people out as much as she does at home but did enjoy being petted. Issy is playful and loves running in the yard and playing with stuffies. She has gotten along very well with the other greys in her foster home. She does potty well on leash so would do well in a home that doesn't have a fenced yard.

Chumley is another of the litter that retired out of race training and didn't make it to the race track. Chumley just celebrated his 2nd birthday on May 26th and is a little guy that weighed only 67lbs. His sire is Dave the Dog, And his dam is Topaz Lass. His foster parents actually own one of his mom's littermates! Chumley has been pretty friendly and outgoing since he arrived. He wants to get up in the front to be with people during transport to the vet and doesn't shy away from people at all like some of his brothers. He is definitely one of the more confident ones in the litter and went right up to children for petting on a recent walk in the neighborhood. He mastered a flight of steps right away and he seems to be able to deal with new things. Chumley is living in a foster home with small dogs and cats and has been absolutely fine with them. He even did well with a hyper puppy that was nipping at him. He is a very sweet loving guy. Althought the rest of his litter were heartworm positive and are on hold for treatment Chumley was heartworm negative and is ready for a new home. Be sure to look at his cute floppy ears in his other photos.

Carter is a young white male with black spots. He never actually raced. He and the rest of his litter ended up being retired straight out of race training at the same time and we ended up taking all 4 of them. Carter is a very shy and seems like he hasn't been handled a lot. He will come up to people cautiously but needs work on walking on leash and building his confidence in new situations. He freezes on leash when scared. His sire is Dave the Dog and his Dam is Topaz Lass. Dave seems to throw some genetically shy dogs and we have placed quite a few of his pups. All of the dogs we have placed have become wonderful pets though that are very loving with their families. They just need some time to get comfortable. Carter is a small guy around 65lbs. He did pass his cat and small dog tests. He will cautiously come up to his foster mom for love sometimes and bounce and play bow to get her to play then at other times he is nervous and timid around her and won't take treats. He is probably the most timid guy in the litter. He really is uncomfortable on leash right now and new things like the ceiling fan scare him. He will warm up with exposure and some patience. Be sure to look at his other pictures to see some of him as a tiny baby.

Carter is on medical hold for heartworm treatment that will last about 2 months. He is expected to be cleared for adoption around Sept 10th.

His Pedigree

Carter was adopted by the vet that fostered him during his heartworm treatment.

Squeaky is a tiny, dark brindle female that just arrived from the Sanford Orlando track. She was in training to race there but didn't show much promise as a racer so never actually ended up having an official race. She is very young and doesn't even turn 2 until August 31st. We don't have an official racing weight for her but she is very small in the 50s range. She is very short but pretty stocky and muscular and can just walk right under taller girls or boys. She was a little overwhelmed when she first arrived but was really friendly and happy after just a few minutes. She is submissive and politely laid down when we opened her crate door to feed her. She didn't try to take the food until the door was closed. She needs some work walking on leash because she goes back and forth between pulling toward things she wants to see and shying away from things she thinks are scary, just like a pup. She is a cute, little, waggy girl most of the time though and did ride well on the trip up from the track. She is short so puts her feet up on other dogs and things in her environment to get a better view. She has been a little noisy in her kennel but does correct and quiet very well. Her sire is Gable Wyatt and her dam is Gable Burma. Because she is a little shy we think loud, small children might be scary for her. We think she would probably do better in a home with quiet kids or older kids.

Avery is a white girl with big black spots. Her racing weight was 58lbs. She raced at quite a few tracks - Wheeling in WV, Southland in Arkansas and finally Derby Lane in St Petersburg Fl. She has 49 races listed. She turned 3 on December 13th. Avery's sire is the famous Lonesome Cry and her dam is Odd Garbo. She paid no attention to a little dog she met so should be fine to live with small dogs. She also passed her cat test so should be OK in a home with cats. Avery seems very social and likes people and other dogs. She has done very well in her foster home and is very sweet and friendly to everyone she meets. She is a higher energy girl that loves to play. Even though she likes kids and has been fine with the ones she has met we think she might be too playful and rough for a small child and knock them down. She would be great for a family that wants an energetic dog to do things with like long walks, hikes or other activities.

Her sire is the famous English racer Balligari and her dam is Elysium. We adopted out her her littermate Happy Stutz who has been a sweet, nearly perfect guy. So far she seems just as sweet as her brother. She has a beautiful bright red coat and a white chest and some white toes. She has ears that go straight up sometimes just like her mom's. She has 78 races to her credit racing at Wheeling in WV, and Palm Beach and Sanford Orlando in Fl most recently. She had a minor injury in April and was rehabbed at the track by her trainer before they sent her to us. She is not limping and we can't tell that she even had an injury now. She seems like a calm, friendly girl. She traveled well on the way up from the track and quietly settled into her crate when she arrived. So far she has been well behaved and quiet in her crate. She is playful and loves to play with toys. She really wants to please so the smallest correction works to stop any mistake. She passed her small dog test with a boston terrier but she is definitely not going to be cat safe. She was very excited about the cat she met and even a smack by kitty claws didn't make her back off.

Adoption Status: Congrats to the McGraw Family of Columbia, SC 7/12/13

Katie is a very tiny, shy, black female with white toes and chest. Katie was so shy she couldn't race due to her fear of strangers. Her sire is Rhythmless and her dam is Ucme Instantly. Her birthday is September 2nd and she is 2 years old. After meeting Katie she appears to have not been socialized with humans as a puppy so is very fearful like a wild animal would be. She does not approach her foster mom yet and circles around warily still. She seems a little curious when she has food but will not take food from her but will eat it if her foster mom puts it down near her. We have placed several other unsocialized greyhounds that ended up making wonderful pets. They do take months if not a year to warm up to their new family. They do need a family that will be very patient with them. Most of the time they don't get comfortable with strangers or going out to new places and are homebodies that are happier just staying in their own familiar environment. They are normally not just fearful of people but of anything new and any change in their routine. Katie will need a home with a securely fenced yard since she is far too nervous to potty on leash outside of a fenced area. Dogs like Katie typically are too nervous to be around loud, fast moving small children so we automatically put them down as needing a home with older children only or no children. Katie will need a lot of time to learn to trust and love people but families that have worked with this type of dog say that it is so rewarding when they finally do come around. Katie is adapting to home life well and has picked out a favorite bed in the house. She has had no accidents in the house and follows the other dogs outside and back in so her foster mom hasn't had problems catching her. She gets along great with the dogs and cats in her foster home and is not shy with other dogs - just people.

He is a littermate to Boy that is also available and arrived with him. George is a young guy that won't be 2 until September 3rd. He only has 7 races to his credit but did win one of those. George is currently being boarded at our vets and is looking for a foster home. If you are interested please contact us. George was a little stressed when he first arrived and didn't want to eat but is over that now. He is a little more timid with new things than his brother Boy and is still having some trouble learning the steps. New things like that can be pretty scary. He is very friendly with people though and will bounce happily when new people come up to see him. He passed his cat test by calmly sniffing the cats at the vet clinic and like his brother was more interested in sniffing around the clinic than in the cats. He also has met some small dogs at the clinic that he has shown no interest in other than a casual sniff so should be OK to go to a home with cats or small dogs. He is living with a male pitbull in his current foster home and they get along great.

Noble is a stunning large, white male with a black patches. He is very flashy, drop dead gorgeous and even trots with a prance. He weighs 85lbs and is an extra large guy. Noble is not a retired racer. He has been in a home since he was a puppy so has great house manners and is already home acclimated. If he does anything wrong all you have to do is say something and he will stop right away. He really wants to please people. Noble hasn't been out a lot and does get a little stressed in new situations with people he doesn't know. He is a bit timid and isn't initially as friendly as our more confident dogs and tends to stand back a bit at our meet and greets at PetSmart. He takes a day or two to really bond with new people but once formed that bond is very strong and he will follow his new owner around and ask for affection. Noble will quietly stand leaning against you or put his head in your lap for petting. He is very good with children.Noble was given to us to rehome because he was not getting along with a new male greyhound in the home. From what we have seen Noble is not a confident dog and can be uncomfortable with new dogs coming in to his home large or small. Although he lived with small dogs in his previous home and was fine with them, we would rather not put him in a home with small dogs. Noble does love to play with the other greyhounds and a wolfhound in his foster home and we have seen none of his previous behavior except if dogs he doesn't know run up and get in his face. His previous owner had quite a few dogs and felt that may have been part of the problem and thought he would do better in a home with fewer dogs where he would get more attention. Noble passed a recent cat test with very little interest so we think he may be trainable with indoor cats. Noble will need a home with a fenced yard because we haven't been able to get him to go potty on leash even one time during his walks. He just likes to trot around looking for that perfect spot and is much too polite to go while on leash. Noble likes to go for walks and travels very well. He is a really stunning guy that is already home acclimated and is going to make someone a very nice pet.

Gambino is an extra large, black guy that is very friendly. He is tied with one other dog to be the biggest dog we have ever adopted out with a racing weight of 98lbs. He is pretty calm for a young guy and well behaved. He does need some training on leash because he pulls some and is pretty strong. He is a gentle giant though and seems to be very sweet and gets along well with others. He retired from Derby Lane without an offical race. He did some training races there but they decided he was too big to be a successful racer. He seems pretty smart and is picking up on house manners quickly. He crates nicely and quietly. He likes people and seemed to like the children he has met too. He did good with small dogs that walked past him at the recent meet and greet. He still needs tested with cats.

Kitty is a gorgeous sable fawn with dark guard hairs in her coat over light fawn fur. Very unusual and striking. She has a lot of natural eyeliner. She retired in February from the Wheeling WV race track and we picked her up from the farm she went to when she retired. Kitty's sire is the famous Dodgem By Design and her dam is Huska Damsel. She will celebrate her 3rd birthday on June 22nd. Kitty was pretty shy when she first arrived but she has become a very outgoing friendly dog very quickly in her foster home. Now she greets strangers that come over happily and chooses to interact with them and follow them around. She walks perfectly on leash and travels well. She just gets into a vehicle and lays down for the entire trip. She crates quietly and potties very nicely on leash so may be a good choice for an apartment or townhouse without a fenced yard. She passed her cat test with no interest other than a casual sniff so should be fine to live with cats or small dogs. She seems like a very calm, laid back girl that should make an easy addition. She even was fine being outside when a chainsaw was being used and didn't seem phased by the loud noise. Kitty has developed a very silly fun personality. She loves to play with toys and can keep herself entertained by squeaking a toy and playing with it all by herself but would rather have a person join in the game with her. So far she really hasn't wanted to join in games with the other dogs in her foster home though.

Kitty has been diagnosed with SLO which is an auto immune disease that causes her toe nails to fall off. We have started the treatment of Fish oils and Niacinamide (b-vitamin). Her nails are growing back. She is likely to require continued vitamin supplements to keep her SLO from flaring up again. This is something that we see in greyhounds sometimes. She has returned to being able to run in the yard pretty normally now but when she has a flare up and loses her nails she will be tender footed and won't be able to go for long walks and won't be able to play until they heal up again. Fortunately the supplements to keep this in check aren't expensive and seem to be effective.

Shadow is a black female that turned 9 years old on Jan 1st. She raced at 60lbs and she has 107 races listed when she was younger at Derby Lane and Naples Ft Meyers in Florida. Her sire is Lauren Tide and her dam is Oneco Persnickty. She has been in an adoptive home for 5 years since she retired and was adopted out through another adoption group that has given us permission to help rehome her. Her family is having to give her up because of moving into a senior living center. They are heartbroken about having to give her up. Shadow has good house manners and has been living with small white dogs and larger dogs and is good with all of them. She needs to be tested with cats. Shadow loves to go for rides in the car and always wants to go and rides nicely once she gets in but is a little afraid to jump into the car. When she first arrived at her adoptive home years ago she was very very shy and would run from people. Now she is very loving towards her family. She settled right into foster care though without any problem. She has even been out to a meet and greet at PetSmart. While she didn't actually go up to all the new people there she didn't shy away either and enjoyed the attention. Shadow has never tried to get up on the furniture in her home. She is a pretty black girl with white feet and chest and a white face.

Jack is a tiny, friendly, brindle male that raced at 67lbs at Palm Beach race track. He raced 35 races there then was moved to Sanford Orlando Race Track. His sire is Dragon Fire and his dam is Greys Realclassy. Jack just turned 3 on May 24th. He passed his small dog test with a boston terrier and seemed to enjoy having her play with him and jump on him so seems like he will do well with small dogs. He is not cat friendly though so can't live with them. He has been an excellent foster, very easy and well behaved. Very sweet and friendly and very good with the 3 kids in his foster home. He has a gorgeous, shiny almost chocolate coat with black stripes and a cute, tiny, little face. He pulled a little on leash at first but with some training now walks right beside you politely. He potties very nicely on leash so may be OK to live without a fenced yard if his family was willing to leash walk him. He is usually quiet in his crate so may be a good choice for living in an apartment or a townhouse. He plays so nicely with the female greyhound in his foster home very gently playing and rolling around together. Very cute! He loves toys.

He just celebrated his 2nd birthday on May 17th. His sire is Get Over and we actually adopted out his dam MRL Courageous last year. Big Ugly is a sweet friendly guy that loves to swim and run. The farm he was raised on has a lake in the middle of it so he is one of the rare greyhounds that actually knows how to swim. He raced at Tri State in WV for a short time but was at Orange Park in Jacksonville Fl for the rest of his career of 67 races. Impolite is a sweet, friendly red female with a cute black face that we have been waiting on to retire since we met her at the track. She is actually very polite and was well behaved at the track. She raced at 55lbs so is a tiny girl. She is 2 years old and won't turn 3 until September 1st. She has raced her entire career of 19 races at Sanford Orlando Race Track and was a favorite of her trainers. They nicknamed her Sophia because Impolite wasn't a very pretty name for such a gorgeous girl. Her sire is Tony's Oracle and her dam is Campbell Brown and she is a sister of quite a few sweet dogs we have already placed. Impolite passed her cat test at the track so should be fine to live with cats or small dogs. She needs a little more work walking on leash but her trainers at the track have been working on it with her since she arrived. When she first got to the track she would freeze when she got nervous and refuse to walk anywhere and it very nearly prevented her from racing. Her trainers worked with her for quite awhile and finally got her walking but after all that work she just wasn't fast enough to win a race so was retired. Even though she can be nervous on leash she was very outgoing and loved visitors that came into the kennel at the track. She still freezes sometimes on walks when a loud vehicle comes by but walks nicely most of the time now. She is very quiet in her crate and likes her crate. She doesn't potty on leash at all though so will need a home with a fenced yard. This is very happy sweet girl that can be just a bit shy at first in new situations but really loves people. She has been to meet and greets now and has done very well with kids and all the people she has met. She is a great girl with an unsual dark red almost brown coloring with a nearly black face. So cute!

Chucky just arrived and is an extra large male that raced at 91lbs at Southland in AK, Victoryland and Mobile in AL, and most recently Palm Beach and Sanford Orlando in FL. He was quite the traveler and does enjoy going for rides and is good on trips. Chucky's sire is DK's Prime Time and his Dam is Char Jimmy Pop. He just turned 4 on June 2nd. He is a gorgeous brindle and is very tall. He towers over even other large greyhound males and is one of the largest dogs we have ever adopted out, and is one of the tallest greyhounds we have ever placed. Chucky may be a giant, but he is a gentle giant that actually lacks confidence. He can be a little timid at first in new surroundings but warms up fast. He loves to be petted and calmly leans in for petting. He has done well on slick floors and stairs in his foster home and is very calm and laid back. He has been to PetSmart on outings several times and has done fine with all the dogs and people he has met there and goes up to strangers for attention. He has been great with the small dogs or cats in his foster home so would be an excellent dog for a home with cats or small dogs. Chucky seems like the type that would walk or more likely run away from confrontation, in fact, when he gets scared he does have the tendency to run. The folks at the track adoption kennel warned us that he got scared and tried to scale their fence - without success. So he will need a yard with a 5 or 6 foot fence or someone that will leash walk him if he goes to a home without a fenced yard. He is quiet in his crate and likes to be in his crate so may be OK as an apartment dog. Chucky has seemed to be pretty comfortable with the well-behaved children he has met so far so may be good in a home with kids. He is settling in nicely to his foster home and has been well-behaved. If you want a sweet, gentle giant Chucky is your man. We just found out that Chucky likes water and enjoys swimming!

She also raced at Derby Lane and Palm Beach in Florida and had a total of 71 races. Babe passed her cat test with no interest in the cat or the small dog she met so would be good in home with small animals. She is living in a foster home with a Yorkie with no trouble. She seems to travel well and seems pretty calm and well behaved so far. She loves her foster home's grandkids that are 10 and 13 and runs and plays with them. She can be a little vocal in her crate when no other dogs are around so might not be a good apartment dog. She can be just a little timid at first but quickly warms up and is always wagging her tail happily. She has had no accidents in her foster home! She turned 3 on March 28th and she raced at 62lbs. Her sire is DK's Prime Time and her dam is Money Go Get Her. Echo is very good with cats and small dogs and didn't pay attention or get excited about seeing either. The cat hissed at her and she kept her distance as if she was already familiar with cats and their claws. So far Echo seems like she is a very sweet friendly girl that is calm but has a silly playful side too. She is very good on leash and never pulls. She likes everyone but seems like she is particularily fond of men. Echo did a cute little bounce and spin when meeting her foster mom's husband for the first time. Echo does go potty on leash and is quiet in her crate so should be OK in an apartment or in a home without a fenced yard. Echo is a sweet, well behaved girl that should make an easy first or 3rd greyhound. She has hardly used the crate in her foster home and is very well behaved even when left out with no supervision.

Funny Face is very gentle and will seek out affection calmly by standing beside you for ears scritches and petting. She plays gently with stuffed animals and just squeeks them and tosses them around. She likes to chase balls too but hasn't learned to bring them back. She is very quiet in her crate. She seems pretty confident and curious in her foster home but can be a little timid when out of her element in new places at first. She walks well on hardwood floors. Funny Face will probably need a home with a fenced yard because she doesn't potty on leash well. She has been very good with all the small and large dogs in her foster home but hasn't really interacted much or played with them yet. She seems to like tools and carried off a roll of duct tape, a hammer and a screwdriver out of the shop. Funny choice of toys for such a girly girl. Jim was a return because the rental agreement changed and they could no longer have a large dog. His family was very upset about having to give him up. Jim is the rare greyhound that actually will bark happily to let you know people are arriving at the house or walking by. Because of that he wouldn't be a good choice for apartment or townhouse living. This cute, sweet little guy is a couch potato but also has a fun playful side that will keep you entertained. She is mostly white with brown spots although she is listed as white and red. Her sire is Tonys Oracle and her dam is Campbell Brown so she is a full sister to Impolite that is also available for adoption. They both have that same unusual brown color to their fur. Little Brown is very friendly and really thought she should sit in the laps of the people that were driving on the trip up from Orlando or maybe she just thought she would be a better driver. She just arrived from a kennel closing in Orlando and has 56 races to her credit. She wasn't a great racer but she placed enough to earn a little money and even won a few races. Little Brown raced at 63lbs and won't turn 3 until September 1st. She passed her cat and small dog tests very easily. She was just friendly and greeted each with a happy tail wag and a friendly sniff and was surpised that the cat slapped her and decided to stay away from the cat. Little Brown has arrived in her foster home and is a very outgoing girl with people and other dogs. When meeting people and new dogs she happily wags her whole body and not just her tail. She pulls on leash excited to see everything new so we need to work on that some. She also puts her feet up on things and people trying to see better. She does it gently but we are working on that too. She has a lot of personality and is a sweet fun girl that is very social and loving.

We placed her littermate Freak N Magic. She was interested in the cat during her cat test but seemed correctable so may be trainable with cats. She still needs to be tested with small dogs. Freaky Fast is a very calm, well behaved girl. She is very quiet in her crate. She walks perfectly on leash and never pulls. Freaky Fast hasn't learned to potty on leash though so will probably need a home with a fenced yard. She is quietly friendly and comes up to you for love but isn't pushy about it. She will follow you around where every you go looking up at your with big sweet eyes to see what you are doing. A very sweet laid back girl! She has done great with the kids she has met and is friendly to them.

Curley is another littermate to Larry and Mo. She has been separated from her brothers for some time now since she continued racing for longer than they did. She would be fine being placed by herself. Finding a home for 3 littermates at once would be very difficult. Curley just arrived and so far seems to be a bouncy, energetic, happy girl and the more energetic of the 3 littermates. She is a tiny girl that raced at 54lbs. Her sire is Iceman Brutus and her dam is WJS Raina Jem. Her birthday is Sept 19th 2010 so she is 2 years old. More as we get to know her.

Maddy is a tiny fawn girl that only weighs 50lbs but should weigh 56lbs according to her racing weight. She celebrates her 7th birthday on December 22nd. She is a return that has already been in a home for years so already has good house manners and is well behaved. She is a very sweet loving girl but can be a little timid at first and we think loud fast moving kids are likely to scare her so we listed her as older children only. She passed her small dog test so can live with them but still needs cat testing. She is calm and sweet and so adorable! Maddy's sire is the famous Flying Penske and her dam is TM's Very Few Do.

After she was adopted by the Mitchell family, they returned her to Project Racing Home in Randleman NC. That group let us know that they rehomed her with another family.

Stutz is big guy that just arrived from a farm in Kansas. He has 59 races to his credit at Derby Lane track in Florida and was retired to the farm because of a toe injury. He raced at 98lbs so is an extra large guy. His sire is Balligari and his dam is Elysium. Stutz is named for a famous man in greyhound racing history that is in the Greyhound Hall of Fame. He was described by his trainer as a sweet friendly boy that was a favorite with everyone that visited the kennel. He needs careful placement because he did have some trouble getting along with some of the other male dogs at the track. He never started anything, but he would only put up with so much according to his trainers. He celebrates his birthday December 1st. Stutz passed his small dog tests and lives with a small dog in his foster home. He has done great at meet and greets with children and adults and loves anyone that will pet him. He does nip to get your attention and we are working on correcting that behavior. He is being playful but it does hurt. He is a real snuggly guy that loves to curl up in bed with his people. His favorite place in the house is the bed - human bed, not dog bed. He seems to be a follower and follows the other dogs in his foster home and looks to them to see what he should do next. He has a pretty high prey drive and had mixed results with cats so we don't think he should live in a home with them.

His Pedigree

Update on Stutz. He was adopted by his foster mom. He is a wonderful boy that has never shown any aggression to any dog since he left the track. He is so tolerant that he helped raise an Italian greyhound puppy. He has quit the nipping behavior entirely. He does still have a high prey drive and that has been used doing Barn Hunting competitions where he sniffs out a rat safely contained in a tube. He loves that. He also performs at the Carolina and GA Renaissance Festivals in the cast of The Hounds of East Fairhaven. He is a sweet sensitive boy that always tries to do the right thing and never gets into trouble.

Mojo is a light brindle male that came from the Sanford Orlando Race Track. He has no races listed so retired before his career really started. He is a young one that just turned two on April 18th. Mojo is a Kiowa Sweet Trey pup so is a half brother to Canadian Passion that arrived on the same load and a whole bunch of other super sweet dogs we have placed. He has a very low prey drive so should be great with cats and small dogs and has been living with a very tiny dog. Mojo seems like a pretty calm boy for one so young. He has shown that he can be stressed by being alone and prefers to be with his people or with other dogs. He likes to snuggle and will walk right up to you and lean in for petting. He is good on leash. Mojo loves children and has done great with them in his home. He does potty well on leash so might be good for a home without a fenced yard. Mojo would not be a good apartment dog though because he tends to be a little more vocal than most greyhounds.

Hotdog just retired from the Sanford Orlando race track but spent most of his racing career at Palm Beach. He has 45 races to his credit. Hotdog is a black male that raced at 75lbs. He just turned two on Feb 16th. His sire is Trent Lee and his dam is Jawa Whelton. Hotdog played nicely with all dogs at the dog park including small dogs. Even one that looked like a white rabbit. He came to us when we called him and followed us to the gate when we left. Hot Dog is so laid back, nothing bothers him & our female greyt is the boss which is fine with him. They play well together, he loves the stuffed toys. Walks perfectly on leash...no pulling. He is a counter surfer..so we've been working on that. He just loves everybody & is one happy dude!!! Potties outside in the yard and on leash. Not sure about cats yet still needs to be tested. He complains about being left in a crate sometimes so probably won't be a good choice to live in an apartment. Hopefully that may change some since he's getting more comfortable being in a home environment. Whoever gets this sweet boy will have an awesome friend and greyt dog!!

Amour is a beautiful, tiny white girl with black spots. She raced at only 54lbs so is very tiny. Her sire is Fuzzys Cannon and her dam is Ultimate Deva. Her birthday is Dec 4th. She has 14 races to her credit and started our racing at Palm Beach then moved to Sanford Orlando but never won a race. She is a very silly girl that loves to run in circles in the yard while barking happily. She doesn't care if anyone joins her and often is the only one running. She does this every turnout and seems like a higher energy gal that will need a fence yard to play in since she likes to run every time she goes outside. She got along well with the other girls at the track. She passed her cat test at the track so should be able to live with cats and small dogs. She is in a foster home with small dogs and has been fine with them. She seems like a very outgoing, happy girl. Amour is doing great in her foster home and is very well behaved and sweet. What a pretty girl!!

Amour passed away suddenly due to kidney failure.

Little Face got her nickname because she has such a tiny face with huge eyes. She is a pretty, tiny girl that raced at just 56lbs. Her birthday is July 31st. Little Face is very friendly, sweet and calm. She was good in the kennel and kept her kennel clean and never had accidents. Her trainers at the Sanford Orlando track really liked her and said she really has a very sweet personality and that is what her foster home said about her too. A really sweet, easy greyhound that loves people. She can be a little timid to begin with but warms up very fast. Little Face has 98 races to her credit and raced at several tracks. Her sire was TK Quick Strike and her dam is Audacious. We think she may be trainable with cats. She passed her first cat test easily but was a little interested in a different cat later so we listed her as probably trainable. She will need a careful introduction and will need supervision at first. We can introduce her and evaluate her with your specific cat as some dogs can react differently to cats that look different. She would be an easy first or third greyhound and seems like she will calmly fit into about any home. Check out her new photos - she is a star and was on the news!!

Declan just arrived from Derby Lane in Florida. He was a star racer but was on a break from racing due to a broken toe. When the first toe healed up he broke another toe so they just decided to retire him rather than risk any more toes. Declan's birthday is October 15th, 2010. His sire is the famous Oshkosh Slammer so he is a half brother to a bunch of dogs we have adopted out. His dam is Dixie Stampede. Declan is an extra large guy at 86lbs. We have some of the biggest boys we have ever adopted out available right now. If you like big, friendly, playful boys Declan could be your guy. On the trip up from the track he found a glove that he was tossing around in the back of the van. Definitely a guy that isn't stressed by being in a vehicle or around strangers. He likes everyone he meets and doesn't seem to get worried or stressed by anything. He still needs to be tested with cats but has been very good with the small dogs he has met and hasn't even shown interest in chasing squirrels in the yard so we think he will probably be cat safe as well. Declan crates quietly and likes to sleep in his crate so might be quiet enough for apartment living. He is a total love bug that will stand patiently and wait to be petted and will follow you around. He does well with the other male dogs in his foster home and has just settled in like he has always been there. He only had one accident in the house when potty training. He doesn't counter surf and is very well behaved. If he does anything wrong an "UH UH" is all it takes to make him stop. Because of his two broken toes his racing trainer doesn't think he would be a good performance dog prospect for agility or lure coursing. He is fine to run and play with other dogs, hike, go for walks or jogs with his owner though. Those toes shouldn't bother him as a pet.
