Dottie was initially adopted through another group after she retired from racing in September of 2016. Her family moved to this area and are going through some family issues that made them decide to ask us to re-home Dottie for them. Dottie was a good racer that had a long career of 205 races at the Orange Park Race Track in Jacksonville Florida. She raced mostly at the top A level and won a lot of races and even was a competitor in several Stakes races that are open only to the top dogs racing at that track. She raced at 62lbs and turned 5 on the 4th of July. Her sire is Kelso's Lorenzo and her dam is Steffie's Mandy. We placed GS Simon and GS Not Cracker that were from other litters that her mom had. She has been around small dogs and seems fine with them. More as we get to know her.

Go just arrived from a Tampa Farm where he has been since he retired from racing in March. He was waiting there on a group to take him. He raced at Derby Lane, Mardi Gras, and Palm Beach. He raced 30 races but only won 3 of those so had a pretty short career. Go is a mid sized guy racing at 71lbs. He will turn 3 on January 29th. Go's sire is Swahili Eile and his dam is RCK Zandra. Go can be playful and silly but seems like he is also a calm, easy going guy. He may be a good choice for a first time greyhound owner. He traveled well and has been pretty quiet. Go did great with the small dog he met so should be able to live with them.  More as we get to know him.

She broke her leg on July 24th and had surgery and since then has been under the care of Pro Greyhound - a group that fixes and rehabs injured greyhounds. Kitty's splint has come off and her leg looks good. Her vet has released her for adoption now. Kitty is a gorgeous, red girl with flashy white socks, chest and blaze. She is very young and won't even turn 2 until November 30th. Her sire is Kiowa Myth and her dam is Kiowa Try Tori. Kitty is a friendly happy girl that is energetic and still can act puppyish. Very cute and playful.

Thyme came in from the adoption kennel at a WV race track. She raced 73 races at Wheeling and at Tri State in WV and was very good. She placed 3rd in the 2015 Wheeling WVGOBA Keystone Classic Stakes race. Her mom and dad were both famous racers. Her dad is Flying Penske and her mom is Slatex Cadillac. Thyme raced at 63lbs and turned 4 on July 9th. She retired from racing a year ago after an injury and went back to the farm probably to become a mom. They just decided to send her to her own home. Thyme is a very calm laid back girl that traveled well and just laid down in the van. When she got to the house she just went into the crate and laid down quietly. She passed her cat and small dog tests with just a casual sniff.  She was around several small children over the Thanksgiving holiday and seemed very comfortable around them she even went to check on one when it was crying. So far she has been a very good girl.

Adoption Status: Adopted by the Austin Family of Augusta GA 12/3/14

Willow is a beautiful, tall, dark red, girl that is all leg. She is very tall for a girl and was even taller than some of the boys she arrived with. Willow is very young and won't turn 2 until February 6th. She had a minor muscle tear on her inner thigh while on the farm so they decided not to send her to race. This will not bother her at all and she could have actually raced even after this type of injury because it would only slow her down the tiniest bit. Because she never raced she doesn't have a racing weight but we would guess her to be around 68lbs. Her sire is RCK Trail Blazer and her dam is NAD Gypsy. Willow is still puppyish and needs some work on walking on leash and basic manners like not jumping on people. She loves to jump up and give hugs. Because she is young she may be a bit higher energy still. She passed her small dog test and just wanted to play with the little dog. She still needs to be cat tested and tested with small kids. Willow is a very happy friendly girl. She is pretty quiet in her kennel. More as we get to know her.

Corda is a small black female that raced at 56lbs. She retired from the Orange Park Race Track. She only raced 10 races there and only won the first one. After that she mainly came in toward the back of the pack so she was quickly retired. She just turned 2 October 10th. Her sire is Flying Westover and her dam is Atascocita Doris. She is owned by Atascocita Racing which is how she got her first name. She is a friendly, happy, little girl that is already one of her foster mom's favorite fosters ever. Her foster mom says Corda is a sweet girl that is so loving that she follows her around the house. Whenever you stop and look at her she rolls over for belly rubs. She adores the children in her foster home and snuggles with them ever chance she gets. She gets along well with their dogs both large and small.

Adoption Status: Adopted by the Gutter family of Felton PA 11/22/17

Beast is a tall, handsome, 79lb, brindle male with a white chest and feet that was originally adopted directly from a Derby Lane racing kennel in Florida. Because of a change in their living arrangements, his adoptive owners have asked us for assistance finding him a new home. Beast also raced at the Southland Track in Arkansas briefly. He raced 103 races and got up to the top A level. His last race was October 5th of 2015 and he has been in an adoptive home since then. Beast turned 5 on August 23rd. His sire is BD's Grayson and his dam is Flying Havana. He is a friendly, confident guy that loves to go for rides in the car. He was living with small dogs in his previous home and in his current foster home and gets along great with them. He showed no interest in the cats at the vet's office. Beast crates wonderfully and quietly. His owner says he hasn't really been around children but he can be a little grumpy about being bothered when sleeping so we think he would do better with older kids that would understand not to bother him then. We got Beast neutered and gave him a fresh dental and heart worm test and got his vaccinations up to date so he is freshly vetted and ready to go home. He is a very sweet guy that hasn't seemed stressed at all by being rehomed. He is happy and has taken everything in stride. Seems like a very well behaved boy.

Beast was adopted by the family that owns his mother Flying Havana. They were reunited right after she was diagnosed with bone cancer.

Adoption Status: Adopted by the Archino Family of Columbia SC 11/18/17

Frank just came in from the Birmingham Race Course. He also raced at Southland in Arkansas. He was a very good racer that got up to A level. Frank is a very special boy that is a one of a kind. He has a slightly crooked nose and has a lower canine that sticks out one side because of his crooked nose. One of his ears is slightly longer than the other and he has half a tail. We think this just makes him cuter and so does he. He was a kennel favorite because of this and his sweet personality and is used to getting lots of love and attention from everyone that came in the kennel. He is an extra large guy that raced at 84lbs and is a gentle giant. Frank is calm and sweet and seems to like everyone from adults to kids. He had a little initial interest in the cat he met, but corrected easily so we think he would easily be trainable with cats. Frank turned 3 on October 29th and yes his entire litter was named after characters in the Netflix series House Of Cards. He travels really well and just got in the van and laid down and went to sleep on the trip over from Birmingham.

Chili just arrived from the Birmingham Race Track Adoption Kennel. She didn't actually race there though and was just sent there to get on one of their dog hauls to adoption groups across the country. She raced 85 races at Palm Beach, Flagler, Naples Ft Myers, and Mardi Gras race tracks. She got up to B level but mainly ran at the lower levels. She is a very tiny red girl and her records say she raced at 58lbs but she looks too tiny to be that weight. Her sire is Aerial Battle and her dam is Elaborate Eva. Chili just turned 3 on October 14th. She did not pass her cat test so needs a home without cats. She has done fine with a small Italian Greyhound she met but had some mixed results with other small dogs so needs a careful introduction and the opportunity to sniff them so she doesn't mistake them for squirrels or bunnies. Chili is a very friendly cute girl. We were told she is very quiet in her crate and very calm. She was picked out especially for someone that lived in an apartment and needed a quiet dog.

Princess arrived from a kennel closing at the Orlando Race Track in June. She also raced at Orange Park in Jacksonville FL. Princess raced 29 races and only won two of those, so she retired pretty quickly. She is a 60lb brindle female that will turn 3 on December 10th. Her sire is Dragon Fire and her dam is Super C Ashley. Princess is a happy, friendly girl that loves everyone she meets. She is too interested in cats to be able to live with them. She did fine meeting an Italian Greyhound and Cocker Spaniel, and other non-greyhounds.  She gets along very well with other greyhounds. Princess is very loving and affectionate.  She loves having her ears and neck rubbed. She crates good and has done well with housetraining.  She is nice to walk and would be a great walking, hiking, or jogging companion.  She is a dog that does need some activity each day.  She loves to go places so she is a great dog to take to the park or to hit the trails with.  She is also very food motivated and smart so she would be very easy to train.  She has been introduced to clicker training. She is fully vetted and ready to go home.

Christy came in from the Birmingham Race Track. She raced 50 races there but it took her 18 before she won one race. She eventually won one more race but mainly just placed. She just turned 3 on July 7th. Her sire is the famous Djays Octane and her dam is WWW Mia Hamm. Christy did not pass her cat test. She was very interested at first but did eventually decide to leave the cat alone after he smacked her a few times but we think that she would do best in a home with no cats. She did fine with the small white dog she met though and showed no interest in him at all other than a casual sniff or two. Christy is a happy greyhound and her tail wags most of the time. She loves everyone she meets and seems comfortable in every situation. She jumped in the van and laid down for the trip. Nothing seems to phase her. Christy would be an excellent meet and greet dog because she is so social, she thrives on attention and is so loving. She has a little more energy than the typical greyhound so doesn't just lay around all the time. She does still lay around a good share of the time but still is up for a walk or anything else fun her family may do. Christy's foster mom has been working on her leash skills because she does pull at first and she is much better. Christy has the most wonderful, outgoing personality. She has been in foster care for awhile so already is home acclimated and doing great on house manners. Christy is a gorgeous girl that is always happy and so so sweet.

KC is a 77lb, red male that came in from the CTW Kennel Closing at the Birmingham Race Track. He came to us with his entire litter that all have CTW Montana as their first two names . KC turned 3 on August 22nd. He was raised at the CTW Farm in Texas. His sire is KC and All and his dam is CTW Make It Work. KC raced 86 races and a lot of those were in the top A level. He actually stopped racing August 31st after pulling up in a B level race. Has been off since then. KC just walked past some cats at the vet's office and really was not interested in them during his cat test until one ran. Then he got excited by the movement, but calmed down quickly and responded to correction, so we think he may be trainable with cats. He met a small white dog and was fine with him. KC is a happy, outgoing guy that has a fun personality. So far KC has been quiet in his crate. Be sure to check out his other pictures to see cute ones of him as a pup. KC was around small children at the farm he was raised on so should be fine with them.

She raced 120 races mostly at the top A level so was a fast girl that was a good racer. She wouldn't have been retired yet if her kennel hadn't closed. Bell turned 3 on August 22nd. She is friendly and seems pretty calm. She is pretty quiet in her crate too. She likes to play with toys and eats well. She loves getting petted and is very affectionate. She did not pass her cat test but does fine with the small Italian Greyhounds she is fostered with. Be sure to check out her other pictures to see a cute one of her as a puppy. Bandit is a 73lb, mostly white male with a fawn patch on the side of his neck and another small patch on his tail. He turned 3 on August 22nd. His sire is KC and All and his dam is CTW Make It Work. He raced 83 races and was racing at the top A level when the kennel closed so was a good racer. He is very outgoing and happy. He seemed to understand that the cat he met had claws and stayed away from it. He was interested in chasing when it ran away but as soon as it turned around he backed away and stayed away. So he may be trainable with a cat that would stand its ground with supervision. Bandit was fine with a small white dog he met. He can be vocal in his kennel so would not be a good choice for apartment living. Be sure to check out his other pictures to see lots of pictures of him as a young pup. Bandit was around the small kids that lived at the farm he was raised on so is used to them

Free Bee just arrived from the Blanchard Kennel at Orange Park in Jacksonville Florida. She is a pretty tall girl for just 60lbs. She raced 142 races and was pretty good, racing at Dubuque and Bluffs Run in IA and Southland in Arkansas and Naples Ft Myers in Florida before moving to Orange Park. She was mostly a B level racer but did compete in a top level stakes race. Although she turned 4 on April 9th, Free Bee still has a cute puppy look to her. She is VERY outgoing and gives hugs and just loves people. She loves playing with other dogs and especially loves balls that squeak and toys that squeak. She can be energetic for short spurts but calms down really well in the house and just wants to put her head in your lap and be close. Free Bee's sire is the famous Kiowa Mon Manny and her dam is Boc's Mc Raisen. She has been in a foster home with a calm older yorkie and has been fine with him. She loves playing with all the other greyhounds at a playgroup. We were told that she is a pretty confident girl and can be a little bossy at times. She seems like she is going to be a fun girl for a family that wants a playful, silly, girl. She does potty well on leash and is leash walked at her foster home but she would probably do best with a fenced yard where she can chase balls and run and play since she enjoys that so much. Although she has been living with cats at her foster home they are having to keep her away from them because she is too interested in the to be comfortable with so she needs a home with no cats. Her foster home says she is the most loving dog they have had, even more loving than their personal greyhound. She is super sweet!

Finn came in from a farm in Florida where he has been since he retired from racing in November of 2016. He has been waiting on a group to take him for nearly a year. Finn raced 191 races all at Palm Beach. He won some and did get up to the top A level briefly, but most of his races were at the lower levels. Finn is a taller guy that raced at 76lbs. He just turned 5 on July 5th. His sire is the very famous Kiowa Sweet Trey and his dam is Atascocita Haley. He is owned by Atascocita Racing which is how he got the first part of his name. Finn is a gorgeous white boy with red spots with cute ears that stand straight up when he is watching something. Even though all his spots on his body are red he has a black spot on his tail which is very unusual and very cool. Finn travels pretty well but does like to stand and watch where he is going. He potties nicely on leash so may be fine without a fenced yard. Finn is a really nice, friendly, boy that is happy happy happy. He happily goes up to everyone he meets for attention. His trainer at the race track said he could be bossy with other males while playing. After he retired, he was turned out in a group of males at the farm and had no problems whatsoever. Since he tended to be bossy as a younger guy, he may do best in a home with females or other more submissive males. He needs a home with no kitties because he really wanted to chase the cat he met. He is very calm and well behaved around the small dog he is fostered with, so should be fine to live with them. Finn is very quiet and clean in his crate. He really liked the small children he met but got overly excited to see them so because of his size and strength we think he may do better in a home without toddlers. He would love a home with older kids he could play with. He played with kids ages 5 to 10 that came to the farm with one of the workers. Finn is the unusual greyhound that is a great swimmer and loved to swim in the lake at his first foster home. He has a lot of personality and has a lot of love to give.

Cee Cee came to us initially from the Sanford Orlando Race Track. She is a 63lb black female that just turned 5 on May 17th. She raced 168 races and was pretty good, winning at the top A level. We placed her littermate, a male named Sharp Edge, too. Her sire is Kiowa WW Brother and her dam is Kiowa Sharp Cay. Her trainer said she was still a good racer when she retired and was very fast. She just slowed down in the turns to avoid the other dogs after getting bumped a few times. Cee Cee passed her cat and small dog tests easily without much interest in either and is living with small dogs in her foster home. She is a good girl that seems like she wants to please and gets along very well with other dogs. She went straight back to her new crate and kenneled up without being told after her very first turn out. Cee Cee is a pretty calm girl but was a bit of a houdini at the vet's office. She got out of the dog run there by opening the latches several times. A very smart girl! Cee Cee is a grinner too! Cee Cee was adopted 5/22/16 and was in a home until they dumped her at the Pickens Animal Shelter on September 23rd. She was covered in fleas and ticks and was missing a lot of fur from scratching at them. Her nails were so long it affected her stride. Cee Cee has been checked over by our vet and had a fresh dental and all her vaccines. She looks much better after nearly a month of TLC.

Loma just arrived from the CTW Kennel closing in Birmingham Alabama. She came in with the rest of her litter that all have the CTW Montana names as well. They were raised in a farm in Texas. She is a 60lb almost entirely white female with just some speckles on her ears. Her sire is KC and All and her dam is CTW Make It Work. Loma was a good racer that raced mostly at the top A level and won a lot of races. She was still at the top level when her kennel closed. In fact, she had just won 5 races in a row at the top A level not long before she retired so she was very very good. Loma was a little overwhelmed at first and timid when she first arrived. She warmed up right away and is following her foster mom after the first day though. She passed her cat test and seemed afraid of the cat but eventually carefully gave it a few nervous sniffs. Loma seems like a sweet, sensitive girl. Be sure to look at her other pictures to see cute ones of her as a puppy. Loma was raised around small kids on the farm she grew up on so should be fine with children.

Diesel came in from the Palm Beach Race Track. He is a 75lb brindle boy with flashy white stockings and chest and a small blaze on his nose. He raced 34 races mostly at Palm Beach but also raced a few at Derby Lane. He wasn't a great racer so was retired pretty young. He turned 3 on May 11th. Diesel's sire is the famous Djays Octane and his dam is Deanos Liz. Diesel is a friendly boy that is very sweet. Be sure to check his other pictures to see a cute one of him as a puppy. Diesel passed his small dog test so should be fine to live in a home with them. He also has liked the kids he has met so seems like he would do fine in a home with them. Diesel is a friendly, loving guy that has been a velcro boy with his foster family. He loves to be with them. He crates well too. Diesel was a little nervous in a loud crowd at a busy farmers market. He is playful and loves to run around and play in his backyard.

Adoption Status: Adopted by the Gray Family of Raleigh NC 10/13/17

Lark just arrived from the CTW Kennel Closing at the Birmingham Race Track. She came in with her littermates that all have the same first two names CTW Montana. The litter was raised on the CTW farm in Texas. Their sire is KC And All and their dam is CTW Make It Work. Lark is a small 56lb white female that seems to be very high energy like her mother. She is very outgoing and happy and is a natural sitter which is unusual for a greyhound. Most greyhounds find the sit position uncomfortable. Lark turned 3 on August 22nd. She did not pass her cat test but did seem OK with a small dog she met. She is was a good racer that mostly raced at A level. Be sure to check out her other pictures to see one of her as a puppy. Lark can be vocal in her kennel so probably would not be a good choice for apartment living. She is very devoted to people and would rather stay close to the people than going out to play in the yard with the other dogs. Lark was around small kids at the farm she was raised on so should be fine with them.

Cat Tolerance:

Small Dog Tolerance:

Good w/ Children:

Fostered by (location):
Mcmanis Easley SC
Adoption Status: Adopted by the Galvin Family of Savannah GA 10/7/17

Bob initially came in from the Sanford Orlando Race Track. He a gorgeous all white boy except for a red spot over one eye that looks a bit like an eyebrow and a little color on his ears. He is a mid sized guy that raced at 69lbs and only ran 30 races. He started out racing at Tri State in WV but didn't do well there so was moved to the Orlando Track. He only won 2 races during his career so was retired young. Bob will turn 4 on September 18th. His sire is Handball Victory and his dam is Snap A Heel. Bob is a happy boy that can be bouncy and silly in short spurts. He passed his cat and small dog tests and lived with several cats in his previous home. Bob was adopted in June of 2016 and was called Darby there. He was returned in September of 2017, because he started growling and being protective of his space and toys. Bob has been very well behaved in his foster home since he was returned and they have not seen any growling or possessive behavior. Bob seems like he can be a little timid in new situations and isn't a really confident dog. He seems to do better with other dogs around him. He has good house manners and is home acclimated. Because he has shown possessiveness over toys in the past, Bob needs a home with no children. We would prefer to place Bob in a dog experienced home. Bob has been a very well behaved guy in foster care with other dogs around that he can follow around and he seems to copy their behaviors. He doesn't seem to do well as an only dog. He is being fostered with cats and larger dogs and is great with both.

Kern just arrived from a dog farm in Florida. She actually retired from racing in July of 2016 after a successful career of 151 races. She raced at Palm Beach, Flagler, Mardi Gras, and Naples Ft Myers. She did get up to the top A level for part of her career. After she retired she went back to the farm to wait on an adoption group to take her and has been there for a year. She got her front leg stuck under a fence recently and suffered a terrible break, photos of her X-ray are in her other photos. Pro Greyhound is an organization funded by your donations that takes in greyhounds with injuries, gets them the surgeries they need and rehabs them. Pro Greyhound took her in, had one of their vets in Florida reconstruct Kern's leg and then drove from NC to Florida to get her after surgery. Her surgery cost $2000. If you would like to make a donation to help pay for her surgery and rehab please go to Pro Greyhound's Page. She is in NC now for her long recovery and probably won't be released for adoption until the end of August. Kern's sire is the very famous Kiowa Sweet Trey and her dam is Atascocita Bonny. Kern raced at 57lbs and will turn 5 on August 17th. More as we get to know her.

Because she didn't show much promise as a racer, Sakura's owner never completed the registration process and she never got a registered name. Her DOB is 8/11/15 and her sire is Go Bon Hawk Talk and her dam is Rido's Honeybear. She came in with her littermate Rido's Steve. His sire is HL's Tod N Tyler and his dam is Gable Roseanne. Raider passed his cat and small dog tests easily. Go Go traveled well and walked right into her crate, laid down and was quiet in her crate. She is a calm, friendly, well behaved girl. Go Go is very waggy for a greyhound, so much so, that she sometimes wags along with her tail. Go Go passed her cat test without much interest in the cat. She didn't pay much attention to the small dog she met either. Go Go is a super sweet, happy go lucky girl. She loves to snuggle with her humans. She was in an adoptive home briefly but wasn't comfortable with their small child so is available now to a home without very small kids. She should be fine with older kids. She has been in an adoptive home now for over a month so is home acclimated and very well behaved.

Chris started out racing at Melbourne and went straight to the top A level so was moved to Ebro. She didn't do as well racing there so she was moved to Birmingham in September of 2014. She raced nearly all of her races in Birmingham and stayed at the top A level most of her career. Her last race on May 13th was an A level race, in fact. She broke her leg in that last race though. She had her leg fixed at the Birmingham track and then was sent to Pro Greyhound to complete her rehab. Pro Greyhound is a 501C3 organization that takes care of injured greyhounds with the help of your donations. Once she is released by the Pro Greyhound vets she will be available for adoption through our group. Chris's leg is healing well and she is no longer wearing a splint.  Chris's sire is KC and All and her dam is PG Breaking News. She will turn 5 on September 23rd. Chris can be just a little timid at first in new situations but loves people and attention. She is quiet in her crate and is very sweet. She was a little interested in small dogs at first but has been fine since she realized what they were. She is a natural sitter unlike most greyhounds.

Cos came to us from a farm in Florida where he has been since he retired from the track in July of last year. He has been waiting for over a year there for an adoption group to take him. He raced just 41 races and started out racing in Palm beach, and was good, quickly getting up to the top A level. He was moved to Naples Ft Myers and was also an A level racer there. From there he went to Flagler. After only racing there a short time he stumbled and hurt himself so was retired. He is completely healed long ago from that old injury. Cos is a 71lb red male that turned 4 on May 11th. His sire is Flying Westover and his dam is Atascocita Dulce. He was owned by Atascocita Racing which is why that is part of his name. Cos is very laid back and friendly. He gets along well with the other dogs in his foster home and is quickly mastering the stairs. He seems like a very sweet happy guy. Cos passed his cat test with just a little initial interest but after the cat slapped him he lost that and was fine so we think he would be trainable with some supervision at first. He did fine with a small fluffy dog that he met too.

Manning just arrived from the Birmingham Race Course Adoption Kennel. He didn't actually ever race there though. He raced 35 races at Southland in Arkansas and at Flagler, Naples Ft. Myers and Palm Beach tracks in Florida. He only ever was able to win one race so was retired young. He is a big, tall, guy that raced at 83lbs. His sire is the very famous Kiowa Mon Manny and his dam is KL's Muriel. He won't turn 3 until November 20th. Manning is a friendly guy that is really sweet. He was quiet in his crate after just a couple of reminders the first day but once in awhile he does get excited and makes a little noise - mainly when guests come over and he is in his crate. He walks great on a loose leash. He is a higher prey drive guy that isn't going to be able to live with cats. He is OK with small dogs indoors but gets too excited about them outside when they run around so probably would do best in a home with medium sized dogs or larger. He is being fostered with an 15lb Italian Greyhound, to help him get used to being around small dogs and he is doing great with him now. Manning is doing great in his foster home and would be a very easy first or 4th greyhound. He seems to get along well with other dogs and seems pretty calm for his age. Manning is a gentle giant.

Loader is a special needs guy that we are advertising for a track adoption group in Iowa. He is a dominant guy that doesn't get along well with other dogs, so just needs to be placed as an only dog. Loader is very friendly and loving and is described as being "amazing with people". He is currently still in Iowa and transport from the track adoption kennel can be arranged for a suitable adopter. Loader is a handsome, confident, red male that weighs 76lbs. He turned 4 on April 14th. His sire is BD's Grayson and his dam is Kiowa Neon Nanny. Loader is a velcro dog that loves to be by the side of people working in the kennel. He was a pretty good racer that raced 132 races at several tracks and won a lot of races. He started out at Bluffs Run in IA, then went to Naples Ft Myers in FL, then to Dubuque IA. From Dubuque he went back to Florida to the Mardi Gras Race Track but he didn't race well there so he was sent back to Dubuque again. So this guy has been quite the traveler. Loader did get up to the top A level while racing in Dubuque the first time. He retired on May 26th and has been at the track adoption kennel since then waiting on the right home. Loader didn't pass his cat test either so needs a home with no kitties. If you are only planning on having just one dog, please consider adopting Loader. He has been fully vetted, is healthy and has been waiting on a home for along time. Great news! Loader found a home and is coming to Inman to a previous greyhound owner. Transport has already been arranged and he will arrive on September 8th.

He did not pass his cat test so needs a home with no kitties but was fine with the small dog he met. He liked the baby and toddler he met, but because he is so big and enthusiastic when greeting them we think he would do better in a home with kids older than toddler age that he wouldn't accidentally knock down. Delahoya is very friendly and loves people

Hero came in to our group as a result of the Mobile Alabama track being shut down. He raced 32 races and also raced briefly at Ebro. He wasn't a very good racer and only won 2 races in his career. Hero has a meaningful name that was chosen by one of our local volunteers and adopters that is a doctor that had open heart surgery as a child and now works with children because of that. That is why we ended up getting him to place. Hero is a gorgeous white boy with black spots that raced at 76lbs. His sire is Destini Fireball and his dam is KB's Mercedistar. He is young and won't turn 3 until November 9th. According to his trainer Hero is very shy at first and will need some time to warm up to new people. His foster home says that he is jumpy and will shy away if approached directly, but has been curious enough to check out things and approach her. He is a very shy boy though that is probably going to want to be a home body and will prefer staying home with his family and in familiar areas. Once he warms up we are told that he will be a velcro dog and want to stay close. Nothing bad has ever happened to Hero, he is just a genetically shy guy that is timid and sensitive and will need time to warm up to his new family.

Adoption Status: Adopted by the Fisher Family of North Myrtle Beach SC 8/31/17

Scotty initially was adopted from the Birmingham Race Course Adoption Kennel 5 months ago. He had a long career of 214 races starting out in Birmingham, then moving to Wheeling WV and then back to Birmingham. He was the most successful racing in Birmingham, and raced a lot of his career there at the top A level. After he was adopted his family moved to Charlotte NC. Scotty was very friendly and confident in the kennel environment where he was comfortable with other greyhounds around. When he got home with his new family and was away from other greyhounds, he was terrified. He would stress almost constantly and never warmed up to them or their home unless a friend's greyhound came over. When another greyhound was around he was happy and acted normal. They hoped he would adjust and get better with time, but finally made the difficult decision to re-home Scotty so he could be in a home with another greyhound. Since Scotty has been in a foster home with other greyhounds his behavior is completely normal. He doesn't freak out about things and is a very calm, friendly guy with a waggy tail and happy disposition. Scotty seems like he is a sensitive guy that thrives on routine. He walks good on leash. He has lived with cats and seems fine with the small dogs he has met. He would be fine with visiting children, but we think living with fast moving and loud little kids is likely to make him nervous. He is a very sweet guy that just needs a home with other greyhounds where he can be comfortable. Scotty will turn 6 on September 14th. His sire is CTW Plaza Rio and his dam is Great Lee. Scotty is such a friendly, outgoing, happy, silly, guy when he is around other greyhounds. It is hard to imagine him as the shy, timid, fearful guy that his former family described.

Fuse fell in her last race and didn't finish the race. An X-ray found a tiny bone chip in her left hock. The vet felt that it would heal quickly on its own. She is doing fine and it doesn't seem to bother her much now except for a very slight limp sometimes. Fuse is a cute, tiny, red female that raced at 53lbs. She turned 3 on May 9th. Her sire is WW's Dog Gone and her dam is WW Electric Eye. She passed her cat and small dog tests easily and has been living with small dogs that she likes very much. Fuse is used to being around children because her trainer has several kids that help in the kennel with the dogs ages 5 - 12. She is a sweet, calm girl that seems little unsure of her new surroundings at first and just wants to be near her family. Fuse had been in an adoptive home since March but they had to make the difficult decision to re-home her due to their busy work schedule and traveling required for work. They feel that Fuse would do better with a family that had more time to spend with her and other dogs that she can play with. If you are looking for a tiny, sweet girl that is great with cats, small dog and kids Fuse is your girl.

His sire is KC and All and his dam is Tiger Will Win. He is two years old and won't turn 3 until October 19th. Gordo is described as having a very laid back personality. He can be just a little timid at first with people he doesn't know but his foster family says that he was silly and friendly within the very first day. Gordo passed his cat and small dog tests at the race track easily so should be fine to live with either. He is living with cats in his foster home and did show some interest in them at first but seems very trainable with them. He gets along well with a border collie and another greyhound in his foster home. He loves the other dogs and loves people and affection. He potties well on leash so may be fine without a fenced yard. He did complain some about being in his kennel the first couple of days so may not be a good choice for an apartment. Gordo has no trouble with stairs or hardwood floors. He seems like a quick learner and has been perfect with his potty training. He loves his naps and is pretty calm for a young guy. He has very short spurts of playful energy and loves rope toys. Gordo likes to go for rides in the car and just lays down. Gordo has been fine with the children he has met. His foster home thinks he is pretty perfect and would do well as a first greyhound or 4th.

Frodo came in from the Sanford Orlando Race Track. He raced his entire career of 53 races there. He was pretty good getting up to A level. He is a large black male that raced at 80lbs. He has been retired since he pulled up in his last race March 9th 2017. He just pulled a muscle and is fine now. His sire is Flying Coal City and his dam is Kentucky Merlot. We have placed a full brother from another litter and quite a few half siblings on mom and dad's side. All are wonderful pets, so we were excited to meet Frodo. He turned 3 on March 17th so is a St Patrick's Day boy. His trainer said he is a good jumper and is the rare big boy that is a top crate dog at the track because he can jump. He jumped right into our van for the the trip. She also said he can be a big baby and is dramatic. He thinks the world is coming to an end if he has to have his nails trimmed. Frodo passed his small dog and cat test very easily. He is a very friendly, guy that is waggy and happy and follows his foster mom around. He doesn't seemed stressed by much and was laying on a dog bed on his back with his feet in the air on his first day in his foster home. On the trip up he put his head on our laps and just stood there for a couple of hours, not moving and snuggling in. Very sweet boy. He was around kids on the farm where he grew up and really seemed drawn to kids, so was chosen to be in a home with 3 toddlers under 5 years old. He was in that home a couple of months, but was just returned because he would steal the kid's toys and get protective of them and he didn't really like to be bothered when he was laying down. So now Frodo is looking for another home without small kids. Frodo has a very beautiful, shiny, black coat. He is doing great in foster care and is very quiet in his kennel so may be a good choice for apartment or townhouse dwellers.

Fostered by (location):
Bowden (Greenville, SC)
Adoption Status: Adopted by the Speight Family of Lexington SC 8/11/17

Data initially came in from the Jacksonville Fl Orange Park race track. He is a handsome black male that broke his leg in his last race on December 16th, 2016. His break didn't require surgery. His racing owners paid to have the vet splint and care for the leg in Florida. Once the leg was stabilized he was transported to Pro Greyhound for his rehab. They are a group that pays for surgical repairs and rehab of greyhounds with broken legs with your donations. If you would like to donate to help Pro Greyhound please click here. Data raced at 72lbs and will turn 3 on September 21st. His sire is WW Time Warp and his dam is Quirky Lucille. Data is a very friendly guy that is very social and sweet. He passed his cat and small dog tests so should be fine to live with either. Data was such a great dog that he was picked as a service dog candidate and was adopted by a lady wanting to train him to be her service dog. Unfortunately Data was so in tune with his owner, that he picked up on her anxiety and became anxious in the situations that made her anxious, so wasn't able to assist her. Data is a wonderful, well trained boy that should be a perfect pet even if he didn't work out as service dog. He is an easy going guy that isn't an anxious dog normally. He loves being with his humans and really connects with them. He likes to put his head in your lap to get ear rubs. He is very concerned about babies. He lived with two little boys and was very tolerant of the kids even if they crawled on his bed or bothered him when he was sleeping. If one of his babies cried he would not rest until he found them and made sure they were ok. He walks well on a leash and uses a dog door when he needs to go outside to potty. He loves meeting strangers and is friendly with many other breeds of dogs, even small ones. He has lived with cats and small dogs before.

Adoption Status: Adopted by the Davidson family of Top Sail NC 8/6/17

Lady is a white female with red brindle spots that came in from the Birmingham Race Track where she raced most of her 85 races. She did also race at Wheeling in WV briefly. She was a fast dog that quickly got up to A level at first, but seemed to go up and down in racing levels a lot and then gradually slowed down. She does have one old toe injury that is healed but could have slowed her down just a bit. Lady turned 3 on Feb 7th and she raced at 64lbs. Her sire is CTW Ford Delux and her dam is CTW Powder Base. Lady is doing great in her foster home. She potties on leash really well but does still try to go check everything out because she is so inquisitive so needs some fine tuning on her heeling skills. She has done great with her foster home's one year old daughter so far and is very outgoing and friendly with everyone she meets. She gives kisses and smiles when she gets really happy or excited. She is a natural sitter that will just pop down into a sit unlike most greyhounds who prefer to stand or lay down normally. She does complain some about being in her crate so may not be quiet enough to be an apartment dog. Although she did not pass her initial cat and small dog test at the track it was just due to being excited to sniff them. She has been fine with them here. She just wants to sniff everything and has only just wanted to sniff them even outside and then loses interest. She is even good with an outdoor cat that comes up to her on walks. She has not had any accidents in her crate or in the house since she has been in foster care and follows her foster mom around. She is such a happy, beautiful girl!

Flash is a handsome white male with black spots, that just came in from the Orlando Race Track. He is pretty tall for 76lbs and just gorgeous! Flash was an amazing racer that raced 156 races. He started out racing in Dubuque and raced at the top A level there and competed in special Stakes races there reserved for the best racers at that track. He was so successful there that he was moved to the top track in the country, Southland in Arkansas. He raced well there at the top levels and competed in Stakes races there too. He finished up his career at Derby Lane and Sanford Orlando tracks in Florida. Flash is a true track star!  His sire is the famous Djays Octane and his dam is Pacific Flash. His trainer said he is a very calm boy that is well behaved in the kennel and keeps his crate clean. Flash turned 4 on January 16th. He passed his cat and small dog test with no interest in either of them so should be fine to live in a home with either. Flash seemed calmly friendly to a toddler he met. He is very good on leash. Flash is friendly and very calm like we were told. He didn't seem to be phased by shiny floors and was very quiet in his crate in his foster home. He did complain when he was in a home by himself with no other dogs around, so he may do better in a home with at least one other dog. This is a sweet boy that just wants love and just wants to lean against you.

Adoption Status: Adopted by the Monaghan family of Blythewood SC 8/4/17

Apollo was called 'Harry' at the race track but his first adopter changed his name. He initially came in from the Birmingham Race Track. Apollo was a very good racer that raced 238 races mostly all at the top A level. He was so good that he won 5 races in a row against the best racers at that track. He also raced at Southland in Arkansas which is one of the toughest tracks in the country. Apollo turned 7 on April 20th. He had just turned 5 when he retired and got adopted by his first owner. Apollo's sire is the famous Kiowa Mon Manny and his dam is RLM's Ripley. This boy has personality plus. He is a happy, waggy boy that goes straight up to everyone he sees for love. He got along really well with other dogs at the track and was picked as a dog that would be likely to get along well with a young, active german shepherd in his first home. Apollo was returned to us the first time because his dad had to move in with a relative and wasn't able to keep him. Apollo raced at 71lbs but is a very tall boy. He has lived with cats and small dogs and is fine with them. Apollo is a snuggler that enjoys sleeping in bed with his foster mom and is a very sweet guy. Now Apollo is available again, this time he was dumped at a NC shelter because his adopter moved didn't want him anymore. Fortunately we were contacted by the shelter and Apollo is back with our group. Apollo is a wonderful, friendly, sweet boy that has just had really bad luck. When Apollo came back to us he had no tail. He was a very happy waggy boy to begin with so we think that he probably had to have it amputated due to a tail injury called happy tail that is common in greyhounds that wag a lot. Apollo travels well and likes to play with tennis balls. He loves to run and play with other dogs but only for a little while. He is very calm and settles well in the house. He doesn't like thunderstorms or fireworks. Be sure to check Harry's other photos to see pictures of him now and 2 years ago when he arrived. The newer photos are the ones where he is a little whiter in the face.

She only ran 4 races and came in last in all of them. In her last race, a dog ran into her and she hit the rail and finished so far back that she wasn't even in the video. That was in February and she has been waiting on an adoption group to take her since then. Her sire is the very famous Kiowa Mon Manny and her dam is RTR Sugar Shack. Domino turned 2 on April 13th. Domino passed her small dog test so should be able to live with them. She still need to be cat tested. She is doing great in her foster home. Stockie just arrived from the Birmingham Race Course Adoption Kennel. She didn't actually race there though and was moved there from the Daytona Beach Race Track. Before that she raced for D. Q. Williams Kennel at Orange Park race track in Jacksonville FL. She never won a race, although she did place 2nd a couple of times, so she was retired after 26 races. She raced at 63lbs so isn't actually "stocky" her entire litter was named big names like Chubby, Godzilla, and Sumo. Stockie's sire is Who Says I Can't and her dam is Imageofanangel. She turns 3 on August 17th. Stockie is very friendly and a grinner when she is happy or excited. She is a natural sitter, most greyhounds aren't comfortable in a sit and chose to stand or lay down rather than sit. Stockie is very friendly and happy. She passed her small dog test without much interest so should be able to live with small dogs. Stockie complained at first about being in her crate so may not be quiet enough for apartment living.

Adoption Status: Adopted by the Monson family of Greenwood SC, 7.29.17

Tommy is a gorgeous, black and white boy that raced at 74lbs. He just came in from the Orange Park Race Track in Jacksonville FL. He also raced at Mardi Gras in FL and at Dubuque and Bluffs Run in IA.  Tommy raced mostly at the mid levels but did compete in a couple of high level stakes races early on. His last race was in January of 2016, so when we got him he had been waiting in a racing kennel for a year for a group to take him. Tommy is a sweet, friendly, boy with an excellent personality and would have been adopted quickly if people had just had the chance to meet him. He walks nicely on leash and will potty on leash so doesn't need a fenced yard if his family is willing to leash walk him. Tommy did not pass his cat test at the track, so needs a home with no kitties. He did great with the small dogs he has met and is being fostered with two small dogs. He was placed in a home in February of 2017 but hasn't been comfortable with the small child in the home so was returned to us. Tommy is home acclimated and will bark to let you know when he needs to go outside. He is the rare greyhound that will bark to alert you that someone is at the door too. Tommy turned 5 on March 19th. His sire is RA Blazer and his dam is Jenna Bear.  Tommy is a happy, friendly boy that is doing great in his foster home.

London just arrived from the Orlando Race Track. He is a blue brindle male that raced at just 66lbs but is pretty tall and narrow for that weight. He only raced 14 races and won 2 of those. We just placed two of his littermates Oxford and Liverpool too. His sire is HL's Tod N Tyler and his dam is Keeper Spode. London is young and won't turn 2 until August 10th. He passed his cat and small dog tests easily with no interest in either of them. He seemed to like a toddler he met. He is good on leash and wants to lean against you when standing and even when walking some. London walked across shiny floors and up and down stairs with no problems at all the first time he tried. He is a calmly friendly guy that seems very well behaved for such a young guy. He does bark in his crate occasionally mainly if other dogs are going outside without him. This is a very nice boy.

Overpaid just arrived from the Orlando race track. She is a small brindle female that raced at 58lbs. She also raced at Orange Park and raced a total of 55 races. Overpaid got up to the top A level briefly but had an ankle sprain on Feb 2nd that ended her race career. Her ankle has completely healed up now with no limp or any sign it ever happened. Overpaid turned 3 on July 9th. She is a cute friendly girl with big eyes and ears that go straight up when she is curious about something. She is pretty curious about everything and very waggy. She is a grinner too. Overpaid initially showed some interest in the cat but after it slapped her once she wouldn't get near it again. She did slick floors without seeming to even notice them. She jumped right into the van and did steps without a problem. She seemed to really like a toddler she met. Her sire is Rysta and her dam is Most Aggressive. She did complain some the first night in her foster home so may not be quiet enough for apartment living, she does do pretty well on leash though.

Sweet Pea just arrived from a kennel that closed at the Orlando Race Track. She is a tiny girl that raced at just 56lbs. She only raced 14 races, starting out at the Valley Track in Texas and then moving to Orange Park before going to Orlando. She only placed in 2 races, and never won any of them, so retired quickly. Her sire is Rhythmless and her dam is Miss Adelaide. She turned 2 on March 17th. Sweet Pea lives up to her name. She is a sweet, friendly girl that is very happy and waggy. She seems to have a wonderful personality and was so comfortable when she arrived that she happily laid down in the grass and rolled around in a busy parking lot when we picked her up. She loves belly rubs. So much personality and sweetness! Sweet Pea was very interested in the cat when she first met it but after a couple of slaps from the cat decided she wanted nothing to do with cats. That first cat made a huge impression on her because she has avoided other cats she has met since. We think she should be trainable with cats. We think Sweet Pea would do better in a home with no cats based on her initial level of interest. Sweet Pea did fine with a small white Italian Greyhound she met so should be OK to live in a home with small dogs. More as we get to know her.

Oxford just arrived from a kennel closing in Orlando. He only raced 4 races and came in toward the back of the pack in every race, so had a very short career. He is a tiny blue brindle male that raced at just 64lbs. He is a littermate to Liverpool that arrived in the same load. He is shorter of the two boys, his littermate Liverpool is taller and lankier. His sire is HL's Tod N Tyler and his dam is Keeper Spode. He is a young guy that will turn 2 on August 10th. He seems like a pretty calm guy for one so young. He seems pretty friendly. Oxford passed his cat test with no interest and he also has done fine with the small dogs he has seen so should be able to live with either. More as we get to know him.
