2017 Adoptions
Frodo came in from the Sanford Orlando Race Track. He raced his entire career of 53 races there. He was pretty good getting up to A level. He is a large black male that raced at 80lbs. He has been retired since he pulled up in his last race March 9th 2017. He just pulled a muscle and is fine now. His sire is Flying Coal City and his dam is Kentucky Merlot. We have placed a full brother from another litter and quite a few half siblings on mom and dad's side. All are wonderful pets, so we were excited to meet Frodo. He turned 3 on March 17th so is a St Patrick's Day boy. His trainer said he is a good jumper and is the rare big boy that is a top crate dog at the track because he can jump. He jumped right into our van for the the trip. She also said he can be a big baby and is dramatic. He thinks the world is coming to an end if he has to have his nails trimmed. Frodo passed his small dog and cat test very easily. He is a very friendly, guy that is waggy and happy and follows his foster mom around. He doesn't seemed stressed by much and was laying on a dog bed on his back with his feet in the air on his first day in his foster home. On the trip up he put his head on our laps and just stood there for a couple of hours, not moving and snuggling in. Very sweet boy. He was around kids on the farm where he grew up and really seemed drawn to kids, so was chosen to be in a home with 3 toddlers under 5 years old. He was in that home a couple of months, but was just returned because he would steal the kid's toys and get protective of them and he didn't really like to be bothered when he was laying down. So now Frodo is looking for another home without small kids. Frodo has a very beautiful, shiny, black coat. He is doing great in foster care and is very quiet in his kennel so may be a good choice for apartment or townhouse dwellers. |

Data initially came in from the Jacksonville Fl Orange Park race track. He is a handsome black male that broke his leg in his last race on December 16th, 2016. His break didn't require surgery. His racing owners paid to have the vet splint and care for the leg in Florida. Once the leg was stabilized he was transported to Pro Greyhound for his rehab. They are a group that pays for surgical repairs and rehab of greyhounds with broken legs with your donations. If you would like to donate to help Pro Greyhound please click here. Data raced at 72lbs and will turn 3 on September 21st. His sire is WW Time Warp and his dam is Quirky Lucille. Data is a very friendly guy that is very social and sweet. He passed his cat and small dog tests so should be fine to live with either. Data was such a great dog that he was picked as a service dog candidate and was adopted by a lady wanting to train him to be her service dog. Unfortunately Data was so in tune with his owner, that he picked up on her anxiety and became anxious in the situations that made her anxious, so wasn't able to assist her. Data is a wonderful, well trained boy that should be a perfect pet even if he didn't work out as service dog. He is an easy going guy that isn't an anxious dog normally. He loves being with his humans and really connects with them. He likes to put his head in your lap to get ear rubs. He is very concerned about babies. He lived with two little boys and was very tolerant of the kids even if they crawled on his bed or bothered him when he was sleeping. If one of his babies cried he would not rest until he found them and made sure they were ok. He walks well on a leash and uses a dog door when he needs to go outside to potty. He loves meeting strangers and is friendly with many other breeds of dogs, even small ones. He has lived with cats and small dogs before. |

Lady is a white female with red brindle spots that came in from the Birmingham Race Track where she raced most of her 85 races. She did also race at Wheeling in WV briefly. She was a fast dog that quickly got up to A level at first, but seemed to go up and down in racing levels a lot and then gradually slowed down. She does have one old toe injury that is healed but could have slowed her down just a bit. Lady turned 3 on Feb 7th and she raced at 64lbs. Her sire is CTW Ford Delux and her dam is CTW Powder Base. Lady is doing great in her foster home. She potties on leash really well but does still try to go check everything out because she is so inquisitive so needs some fine tuning on her heeling skills. She has done great with her foster home's one year old daughter so far and is very outgoing and friendly with everyone she meets. She gives kisses and smiles when she gets really happy or excited. She is a natural sitter that will just pop down into a sit unlike most greyhounds who prefer to stand or lay down normally. She does complain some about being in her crate so may not be quiet enough to be an apartment dog. Although she did not pass her initial cat and small dog test at the track it was just due to being excited to sniff them. She has been fine with them here. She just wants to sniff everything and has only just wanted to sniff them even outside and then loses interest. She is even good with an outdoor cat that comes up to her on walks. She has not had any accidents in her crate or in the house since she has been in foster care and follows her foster mom around. She is such a happy, beautiful girl! |

Flash is a handsome white male with black spots, that just came in from the Orlando Race Track. He is pretty tall for 76lbs and just gorgeous! Flash was an amazing racer that raced 156 races. He started out racing in Dubuque and raced at the top A level there and competed in special Stakes races there reserved for the best racers at that track. He was so successful there that he was moved to the top track in the country, Southland in Arkansas. He raced well there at the top levels and competed in Stakes races there too. He finished up his career at Derby Lane and Sanford Orlando tracks in Florida. Flash is a true track star! His sire is the famous Djays Octane and his dam is Pacific Flash. His trainer said he is a very calm boy that is well behaved in the kennel and keeps his crate clean. Flash turned 4 on January 16th. He passed his cat and small dog test with no interest in either of them so should be fine to live in a home with either. Flash seemed calmly friendly to a toddler he met. He is very good on leash. Flash is friendly and very calm like we were told. He didn't seem to be phased by shiny floors and was very quiet in his crate in his foster home. He did complain when he was in a home by himself with no other dogs around, so he may do better in a home with at least one other dog. This is a sweet boy that just wants love and just wants to lean against you. |

Apollo was called 'Harry' at the race track but his first adopter changed his name. He initially came in from the Birmingham Race Track. Apollo was a very good racer that raced 238 races mostly all at the top A level. He was so good that he won 5 races in a row against the best racers at that track. He also raced at Southland in Arkansas which is one of the toughest tracks in the country. Apollo turned 7 on April 20th. He had just turned 5 when he retired and got adopted by his first owner. Apollo's sire is the famous Kiowa Mon Manny and his dam is RLM's Ripley. This boy has personality plus. He is a happy, waggy boy that goes straight up to everyone he sees for love. He got along really well with other dogs at the track and was picked as a dog that would be likely to get along well with a young, active german shepherd in his first home. Apollo was returned to us the first time because his dad had to move in with a relative and wasn't able to keep him. Apollo raced at 71lbs but is a very tall boy. He has lived with cats and small dogs and is fine with them. Apollo is a snuggler that enjoys sleeping in bed with his foster mom and is a very sweet guy. Now Apollo is available again, this time he was dumped at a NC shelter because his adopter moved didn't want him anymore. Fortunately we were contacted by the shelter and Apollo is back with our group. Apollo is a wonderful, friendly, sweet boy that has just had really bad luck. When Apollo came back to us he had no tail. He was a very happy waggy boy to begin with so we think that he probably had to have it amputated due to a tail injury called happy tail that is common in greyhounds that wag a lot. Apollo travels well and likes to play with tennis balls. He loves to run and play with other dogs but only for a little while. He is very calm and settles well in the house. He doesn't like thunderstorms or fireworks. Be sure to check Harry's other photos to see pictures of him now and 2 years ago when he arrived. The newer photos are the ones where he is a little whiter in the face. |

Domino just arrived from the Birmingham Adoption Kennel. She didn't actually race in Birmingham and was transported there from the Palm Beach Race Track. She only ran 4 races and came in last in all of them. In her last race, a dog ran into her and she hit the rail and finished so far back that she wasn't even in the video. That was in February and she has been waiting on an adoption group to take her since then. Her sire is the very famous Kiowa Mon Manny and her dam is RTR Sugar Shack. Domino turned 2 on April 13th. Domino passed her small dog test so should be able to live with them. She still need to be cat tested. She is doing great in her foster home. She is a friendly sweet girl. |

Stockie just arrived from the Birmingham Race Course Adoption Kennel. She didn't actually race there though and was moved there from the Daytona Beach Race Track. Before that she raced for D. Q. Williams Kennel at Orange Park race track in Jacksonville FL. She never won a race, although she did place 2nd a couple of times, so she was retired after 26 races. She raced at 63lbs so isn't actually "stocky" her entire litter was named big names like Chubby, Godzilla, and Sumo. Stockie's sire is Who Says I Can't and her dam is Imageofanangel. She turns 3 on August 17th. Stockie is very friendly and a grinner when she is happy or excited. She is a natural sitter, most greyhounds aren't comfortable in a sit and chose to stand or lay down rather than sit. Stockie is very friendly and happy. She passed her small dog test without much interest so should be able to live with small dogs. Stockie complained at first about being in her crate so may not be quiet enough for apartment living. |

Tommy is a gorgeous, black and white boy that raced at 74lbs. He just came in from the Orange Park Race Track in Jacksonville FL. He also raced at Mardi Gras in FL and at Dubuque and Bluffs Run in IA. Tommy raced mostly at the mid levels but did compete in a couple of high level stakes races early on. His last race was in January of 2016, so when we got him he had been waiting in a racing kennel for a year for a group to take him. Tommy is a sweet, friendly, boy with an excellent personality and would have been adopted quickly if people had just had the chance to meet him. He walks nicely on leash and will potty on leash so doesn't need a fenced yard if his family is willing to leash walk him. Tommy did not pass his cat test at the track, so needs a home with no kitties. He did great with the small dogs he has met and is being fostered with two small dogs. He was placed in a home in February of 2017 but hasn't been comfortable with the small child in the home so was returned to us. Tommy is home acclimated and will bark to let you know when he needs to go outside. He is the rare greyhound that will bark to alert you that someone is at the door too. Tommy turned 5 on March 19th. His sire is RA Blazer and his dam is Jenna Bear. Tommy is a happy, friendly boy that is doing great in his foster home. |

London just arrived from the Orlando Race Track. He is a blue brindle male that raced at just 66lbs but is pretty tall and narrow for that weight. He only raced 14 races and won 2 of those. We just placed two of his littermates Oxford and Liverpool too. His sire is HL's Tod N Tyler and his dam is Keeper Spode. London is young and won't turn 2 until August 10th. He passed his cat and small dog tests easily with no interest in either of them. He seemed to like a toddler he met. He is good on leash and wants to lean against you when standing and even when walking some. London walked across shiny floors and up and down stairs with no problems at all the first time he tried. He is a calmly friendly guy that seems very well behaved for such a young guy. He does bark in his crate occasionally mainly if other dogs are going outside without him. This is a very nice boy. |

Overpaid just arrived from the Orlando race track. She is a small brindle female that raced at 58lbs. She also raced at Orange Park and raced a total of 55 races. Overpaid got up to the top A level briefly but had an ankle sprain on Feb 2nd that ended her race career. Her ankle has completely healed up now with no limp or any sign it ever happened. Overpaid turned 3 on July 9th. She is a cute friendly girl with big eyes and ears that go straight up when she is curious about something. She is pretty curious about everything and very waggy. She is a grinner too. Overpaid initially showed some interest in the cat but after it slapped her once she wouldn't get near it again. She did slick floors without seeming to even notice them. She jumped right into the van and did steps without a problem. She seemed to really like a toddler she met. Her sire is Rysta and her dam is Most Aggressive. She did complain some the first night in her foster home so may not be quiet enough for apartment living, she does do pretty well on leash though. |

Sweet Pea just arrived from a kennel that closed at the Orlando Race Track. She is a tiny girl that raced at just 56lbs. She only raced 14 races, starting out at the Valley Track in Texas and then moving to Orange Park before going to Orlando. She only placed in 2 races, and never won any of them, so retired quickly. Her sire is Rhythmless and her dam is Miss Adelaide. She turned 2 on March 17th. Sweet Pea lives up to her name. She is a sweet, friendly girl that is very happy and waggy. She seems to have a wonderful personality and was so comfortable when she arrived that she happily laid down in the grass and rolled around in a busy parking lot when we picked her up. She loves belly rubs. So much personality and sweetness! Sweet Pea was very interested in the cat when she first met it but after a couple of slaps from the cat decided she wanted nothing to do with cats. That first cat made a huge impression on her because she has avoided other cats she has met since. We think she should be trainable with cats. We think Sweet Pea would do better in a home with no cats based on her initial level of interest. Sweet Pea did fine with a small white Italian Greyhound she met so should be OK to live in a home with small dogs. More as we get to know her. |

Oxford just arrived from a kennel closing in Orlando. He only raced 4 races and came in toward the back of the pack in every race, so had a very short career. He is a tiny blue brindle male that raced at just 64lbs. He is a littermate to Liverpool that arrived in the same load. He is shorter of the two boys, his littermate Liverpool is taller and lankier. His sire is HL's Tod N Tyler and his dam is Keeper Spode. He is a young guy that will turn 2 on August 10th. He seems like a pretty calm guy for one so young. He seems pretty friendly. Oxford passed his cat test with no interest and he also has done fine with the small dogs he has seen so should be able to live with either. More as we get to know him. |

Smore just arrived from the Blanchard Kennel at the Orange Park Race Track in Jacksonville FL. We placed his littermate Dancin Milkyway last year and his family wanted the opportunity to adopt Smore when he retired too. They are fostering Smore and plan to keep him so he is not available for adoption at this time. Like his brother, Smore is a happy friendly guy that is curious about everything. His sire is Hi Noon Renegade and his dam is SL Ava. Smore turned 3 on Dec 2nd. Smore raced 44 races and got up to B level. He has cute floppy ears like his brother Milkyway and a similar sweet personality. |

Rich is a gorgeous 75lb fawn male with a small white blaze on his face and white toes and chest. He was a good racer that had a long career of 225 races. He just retired from the Birmingham Race Course and also raced at Pensacola and Southland tracks. He was a top A level racer and did compete in a big stakes race for the top racers at that track so he was a very fast guy. He just turned 5 on June 26th. Rich is a very friendly happy guy that seems confident and easy going. He was initially curious about the cats he met but lost interest after he got slapped. He may be OK in a home with a very confident cat with supervision and training. No timid cats though. He did fine with the small dog he met and tried to get him to play with him. Rich is pretty good on leash and seemed to travel well. His sire is PG Tiger and his dam is Whispering Pines. More as we get to know him. |

Mo is an XL sweet boy that never raced and never received an official racing name. He weighed 82lbs at his vet visit. Mo schooled once but just walked out of the box and stood there looking around. He really wasn't interested in running or chasing so he was just retired. He came straight to us from the Kansas farm where he was raised. Because of never having a racing career Mo has not been exposed to much about home and city life and still has a lot to learn. He is particularly confused with the variety of flooring, carpets, wood, brick tile, and stairs. He isn't fond of any of it yet, but is learning. Dirt and grass are his preferred things to walk on since that is what he is used to. He will just freeze on other surfaces. Mo is a sweet guy that is very loving and friendly toward people, but he does seem to be a sensitive guy that gets worried about new things. He gains confidence slowly. On the trip over from Kansas in one of our volunteer's vans he would snuggle up to her when she would lay down to rest in the van. Mo is just a little jumpy if you move suddenly, but he does want to be with you and stay close. He is great on walks and walks politely on leash outdoors. Inside he can freeze on leash when he encounters new types of flooring that scare him. He is doing pretty good on the tile and wood floors in his foster home after about a week, but the carpets and brick in the home are a little harder for him to accept. He is great with the small dog that is in his foster home and he just sniffed the cat he met. Mo is normally pretty quiet in his kennel but sometimes does the famous greyhound roo that sounds much like a sad wolf howl. He is quite the singer with a deep, sweet, sad voice. He is very sweet and still has his furry, farm puppy coat that is starting to shed out now. He just turned 2 in April so is pretty young. His sire is Kiowa Myth and his dam is Fly Miley Cyrus. |

Liverpool just arrived from a kennel closing at the Orlando race track. He only has one official race listed there and came in 7th because he went so wide in the first turn. He must not have done well in schooling either so was retired young. He is a tiny, blue brindle boy that raced at just 63lbs. He retired with his brother Oxford, Liverpool is the taller and skinnier of the two tiny boys and may actually be a good bit bigger than his brother once he puts the weight he needs. He is very young and will turn 2 on August 10th. His sire is HL's Tod N Tyler and his dam is Keeper Spode. Liverpool seems very calm for his young age. He stood and looked out the car window for most of a 2.5 hour car trip but didn't seem to be stressed by it. He just wanted to see where he was going. Liverpool passed his cat test easily with just a few calm sniffs and was the same with the small dog he met. He seemed OK with a toddler he met briefly too. He seems pretty friendly but maybe just a little bit overwhelmed by everything new in his life. He didn't come across as a real confident guy. More as we get to know him. |

PK just arrived from a kennel closing at the Orlando Race Track. He also raced briefly at Valley Race Park in TX. He had a very short race career of only 11 races, because he only placed in 3 of his races and normally finished toward the back of the pack. PK is a 76lb white male with big brindle spots. He will turn 3 on October 21st. His sire is Super Lee and his dam is BWG Judy Carol. PK was initially very interested in the cat, but after a few slaps from the cat he lost all interest and didn't want to go near the cat again. Even though he may be trainable with a very mean cat, like our tester, we think he would probably do better in a home with no cats. PK was fine with the small dog he met and never showed interest in him other than a polite sniff. He seemed to really like the toddler he met. PK traveled well and has been quiet in his crate so far. He is very friendly, happy and waggy. More as we get to know him. |

Butch is a pretty red fawn boy that raced at 75lbs. He raced at Southland, Palm Beach and just retired from Sanford Orlando. He did get up to the top A level briefly. Butch turned 3 on April 17th. His sire is the very famous Kiowa Sweet Trey and his dam is Marsey. He was described by his trainer as an energetic, fun, happy guy that is always very well behaved in the kennel. She said that Butch was good with the other dogs but tended to do his own thing and was more attached to the people than other dogs. She thinks he would probably do fine as an only dog as well as in a pack. Butch is a very sweet guy, he passed his cat test and is living with a cat in his foster home. He also passed his small dog test and seemed to like the toddler he was introduced to. More as we get to know him. |

Boss Hog came in from the Brindle Kennel at Palm Beach Race Track in Florida. He is a stunning, huge, muscular, red fawn, male that raced at 86lbs. Boss Hog raced 67 races and also raced at Naples Ft Myers but never was a very good racer, maybe due to his size. He mainly placed at the lower D levels. Boss Hog turned 3 on February 16th. His sire is KC and All and his dam is Broomhilda Bones. Boss Hog is a waggy, stocky boy that looks like a big body builder. It isn't that he is that tall, but he is heavy because of all the muscles he has. He is a happy, playful, guy that is curious about new things and very friendly. Boss Hog is a very confident, outgoing guy. He has done fine with small dogs he has met and doesn't show prey drive towards them. He is an alpha male and can be bossy with other dogs - mainly when they bother him when he is laying down. So he needs placement with a family with more submissive dogs or no dogs. Boss Hog was initially a little interested in cats but quickly lost interest after a slap. We think he would be OK in a home with a cat that stood his ground with supervision at first. Because Boss has shown some issues with his space when laying down, we won't place him with small children that could fall on him or wouldn't understand the old saying "Let a sleeping dog lie." Boss Hog is a very happy, friendly guy that would do great with a confident owner. He kennels nicely and quietly. The only time he makes noise in his kennel is when his foster family first comes home and he gets excited to see them. His foster family quickly fell in love with his joyful personality and wanted to keep Boss Hog, but just aren't able to add another dog to their pack at this time. |

Neo came in from the Birmingham Race Course adoption group. He didn't actually race there though and is a dog from Melbourne FL. He only raced 3 races and got bumped by another dog in his last race and just quit running. He is a timid, sensitive boy, so we can see how he could just quit running if something scary happened. Neo is a beautiful, fawn male that raced at 72lbs. He just turned 2 on February 6th. His sire is Yahoo Omar and his dam is Slatex Emerald. Neo passed his initial cat and small dog tests and has lived in two foster homes with cats now successfully. He also passed his small dog test. Although he is very loving and happy at home with people he knows, Neo can be shy at first. He prefers the comfort of his familiar home environment and gets stressed out in new places. Although he considers his crate his safe place and retreats to it if he is scared of something, he does complain sometimes when he doesn't want to be in the crate - like when his foster mom comes home from work. So Neo probably would not be a good choice for an apartment. Neo is very loving, playful, sweet and will stand beside you as long as you will pet him. His foster home says that after a few weeks he has turned into their shadow and follows them around everywhere. He loves to collect toys and stuffed animals but isn't destructive with them. He just collects them. Because Neo is timid and loud noises bother him, we think he would be nervous living in a home with small, loud children that move fast. Older quieter children should be OK. Neo's confidence is growing and he now will walk up to strangers in his home in just a short amount of time for petting. Neo is a gorgeous boy that has been waiting on home since March 20th just because he is shy. |

Cody just arrived from the Sanford Orlando Race Track. We just placed his brother Pope Cody so we were excited to meet this guy too. Cody only raced 3 races and came in in the back of the pack each time. He is an XL brindle boy that raced at 88lbs. Cody passed his cat and small dog tests without any interest in either. He liked the toddler and baby he met too. Cody is a very friendly, happy boy. He likes to travel and is good in the car. Cody crates quietly and seems to be a calm, well behaved guy for one so young. He won't turn 2 until November 18th. Cody is very cute and still has his fuzzy puppy coat. His sire is BD's Grayson and his dam is D's Pride. |

Flip just arrived from the Sanford Orlando Race Track. He is an XL black male that raced at 89lbs. Flips is a calm guy that will turn 3 on July 24th. He started out racing at Southland but when he didn't do well there he was moved to Derby Lane and finally Sanford Orlando. He just wasn't able to win a single race in his career of 55 races so was eventually retired. He did come in 2nd and 3rd quite a few times. Flip travels well and liked the children he met. He also passed his cat and small dog tests easily and is living with a small dog in his foster home. He is a calm friendly guy that seems like he will be an easy boy like so many of the gentle giants we get. His sire is Tyrur Alex and his dam is All Access Pass. |

Easton turned 4 on February 2nd. She raced at 62lbs. Her trainer said she is very well behaved and likes to play. They said she is was a very good girl in the kennel. Easton is very athletic. He raced at 73lbs so is a mid sized male. He was calm and quiet on the dog haul down to us and seems like a very friendly, well behaved guy. Gee Jay passed his cat and small dog tests. He was picked as a very easy well behaved boy that would make a very easy foster and be an easy guy for first time greyhound owners. Such a good boy! |

Franky just arrived from the CTW Kennel in Wheeling WV. He is a small, cute dark brindle male with a cute curly tail that curls up over his back most of the time. He will turn 3 on October 13th. His sire is CTW Ford Deluxe and his dam is CTW Halo Hattie. Franky seems like he is a happy, outgoing boy. He is pretty small, racing at just 67lbs. He gets a little excited at first when he comes out of his crate but calms down and does great on leash after just a couple of minutes. He has been very quiet in his kennel while he has been recovering from his neuter. He passed his small dog test easily and has been living with a small white Italian Greyhound in his foster home. Franky also passed his cat test easily. He just sniffed the cat and then turned around wagging his tail wanting attention from the people in the room. Franky seems like a fun, happy, little guy that is just a cute as he can be. More as we get to know him. |

Annie came in from the Orange Park Race Track with her sister Alice from the Clear Lake Racing Kennel. She raced 168 races there. Annie was a good racer and did get up to the top A level for part of her career. Annie raced at 65lbs and turned 4 on December 17th. Her sire is Pat C Clement and her dam is Calypso Amy. Some of our volunteers met Annie and her sister Alice on a recent trip to the track and asked if we could place them when they retired. They had such stunning unusual dark brindle coloring with silver stripes instead of the usual orange stripes. Annie's sister Alice was adopted right away. When Annie came in she had an ear infection that needed treated, so that held up her placement initially. Her ears are healed and are fine now and Annie has been completely vetted and has been released by our vets for adoption. Annie is a sweet, friendly, confident girl that loves attention. She is very loving and happy. She is a very calm girl that is very well behaved and great on leash. She has excellent house manners too and has been in a foster home for longer than most, due to her initial ear infection. Annie passed her cat test so should be fine to live in a home with kitties. She also passed her small dog test and has been living with Italian Greyhounds and Greyhounds in her foster home. When Annie first arrived she was bossy at first with new dogs in her foster home, if they bothered her when she was laying down. Her foster mom worked with her and she has completely stopped that behavior now and is very good with her housemates large and small. Although she is normally a very confident, outgoing girl, Annie does seem stressed and uncomfortable around new dogs (especially dogs of other breeds that she has not been around before) at first. We feel she may do best as an only dog, although she does warm up to other dogs with time. Annie really liked every child she has met, but we think she would do best in a home with older kids only and no toddlers that might fall on her when she is sleeping. She has never shown any issues with her space with people or kids, but since she has with other dogs, we like err on the side of caution. This is a stunning girl with such unusually beautiful markings and coloring! |

Super came in initially from the Orlando Race Track. She also raced at Derby Lane and at Melbourne. She retired in May of 2015. She raced 60 races and won a few of those. She raced at 64lbs. Super is a very friendly girl. She passed her small dog and cat test and lived with cats, small dogs and kids in her first home. She is being re-homed because she seemed stressed by all the dogs, kids and activity in her very busy home. Neighbors of her previous family fell in love with Super and are adopting her. Super is a shiny, black girl with cute, floppy ears. She travels really well, just hops in the van and lays down and doesn't get up. Her sire is Kiowa WW Brother and her dam is Express Mail. Super was a little bit accident prone at the track. She got a gash on her inner thigh that healed up fine but there is a scar there. Not long after that healed, she got her tail partially amputated in another accident. So she has a tail that is shorter than usual. Everything is healed up and she is fine now. She may be accident prone but she is a gorgeous girl that is very calm and friendly. She is a very smart girl that is a bit of a houdini. She figured out how to get out of a regular metal crate so will need a more secure airline approved vari kennel (the plastic type). Super is a sensitive girl that does best in a quiet home. |

Kid just arrived from the CTW Kennel at the Wheeling WV track. That is a top tier track, so he was a very good racer to be competitive there. He is a very handsome white and black male with freckles in his white. He turned 4 on February 2nd. Kid is a midsize male racing at 75lbs and weighing in at 77lbs at our vet. His sire is DJays Octane and his dam is CTW Pole Dancer. Kid is a calm, friendly guy that is very good on leash. He crates well but has been known to sing a bit in his crate and has a very nice Roo Roo singing voice. He does correct easily and quiets right down and sleeps quietly through the night. He is completely vetted and ready to go home. Kid passed his small dog test and is being fostered with a small white Italian Greyhound. He was a little curious at first about the cat but never tried to chase it so we think he should be easily trainable with some supervision at first. He is used to being around kids at the farm he grew up on and they sent us a picture of him with one of the kids there. His owners told us Kid was a wild puppy and that his how he got his name. He became a calm, well behaved, adult after he matured like most greyhounds do. Kid travels well and just gets in and lays down on trips. |

Buffy never raced. She is a very young girl that won't turn 2 until October 29th. She broke her leg on the farm before she got to the track. She had surgery to repair her leg on April 26th. Buffy is with Pro Greyhound for her vetting and rehab and will be on vet hold until her leg heals completely, then she will be placed through our group. Buffy is expected to make a full recovery and be able to run around and play normally. Pro Greyhound is a 501C3 organization that pays for surgeries of injured greyhounds with fundraising. If you would like to make a donation towards Buffy's care here is their contact information. Buffy's sire is Jax Manny and her dam is Jax Ginger. Buffy is a sweet, friendly girl that is handling her vetting really well. She is playful and very happy. Buffy is healing up well and just needs time for her leg to get strong. She will be on vet hold until the end of June at least and may need leash walked for longer before being allowed to run around and play. |

Friend just arrived from the Brindle Kennel at the Palm Beach Race Track. She started racing at the Tucson Track before it closed. Then she moved to Palm Beach, Mardi Gras and Naples Ft Myers for a total of 97 races. So she has traveled around a good bit. She was a pretty good racer staying at the top A level for awhile. We are very excited to get Friend because we placed her littermate Frosty a year or so ago. Friend is a tiny girl racing at just 54lbs. Her sire is Coldwater Torres and her dam is Cruzin the City. She turns 4 on August 2nd. Friend is a very happy friendly girl that seemed to do fine on the haul and take everything in stride. Very sweet girl. Friend is completely vetted and ready to be adopted. She has been great with the kids and small dogs she has met so should be fine to live with either. She still needs testing with cats. |

Maddie was initially adopted through another group that has allowed us to re-home her. She was abandoned by her owners a couple of months ago at a boarding kennel. They never returned to pick her up after boarding her there and all attempts to reach them were ignored. So now this sweet older gal is looking for a home. When we took her in, she had a mouth full of bad teeth that had caused her to have difficulty eating and some weight loss. We had her vetted and all the bad teeth pulled so she is feeling much better now. She also had blood work done and appears to be a healthy girl. Maddie is adorable with a very unique roman nose and half a tail. She never raced and was in her previous home since she was very young. She is living with small dogs in her foster home and lived with a male husky in her previous home- he was also abandoned at the boarding kennel. She also passed her cat test without any interest. Maddie just turned 9 on March 28th. Her sire is Super Lee and her dam is Jax Cleopatra. Because she is a senior, Maddie qualifies for our reduced senior adoption fee of $200. Maddie is a sweet, friendly girl that is calm and well behaved. She has been going outside to do her business at her foster home like a good girl. She kennels quietly so would probably be a very good choice for an apartment. This sweet, well behaved girl is a one of a kind that will stand out in every crowd of greyhounds. Maggie had only months in her new home and passed away suddenly on November 20th 2017 from a ruptured splenic mass. |

Special Needs - Seizures! Roar came in from the Orange Park Race Track Adoption Kennel in Jacksonville Florida. He raced 53 races there. Roar wasn't a great racer, racing mainly in the C and D levels but he did win his last race on Dec 3rd of 2016. He was retired then because he had a seizure in the kennel. We were hopeful that the seizure was a one time thing. He didn't have any more seizures until an episode of multiple seizures on March 13th and 14th. Roar is currently on 2 seizure medications that have done a good job of controlling his seizures since then. Roar is a little guy that raced at just 66lbs. He is very calm and well behaved and completely vetted already. He travels well and is super sweet. Roar kennels well and loves his crate and would be an excellent only dog because he has no problem with being left alone. He is excellent with other dogs too though. His sire is the very famous Flying Penske and his dam is Lee Judy. Roar will turn 3 on June 26th. He is a very good foster, 'perfect" according to his foster mom. The rare times Roar does anything he shouldn't, he responds well to gentle corrections. He is a very sweet, easy, gentle, guy that would be a great first or third greyhound. He gets along great with all the dogs he has met so far. He also passed his cat and small dog tests so should be fine to live with either. Roar just recently went on a beach trip with his foster mom. He did great traveling and enjoyed 2 mile beach walks with her. Roar is a wonderful, friendly, happy boy that couldn't be any sweeter! One of his littermates took the tip off of one of his ears when he was young. Roar does need midday meds, so needs an owner that can come home on their lunch break or a stay at home owner. This is a sweet loving guy that has been looking for a loving home since December of 2016 only because he is a seizure dog. |

Cody just arrived from the Sanford Orlando Race Track. He is an extra large male that is 88lbs. He is so tall that he wouldn't fit into the standard crate at the race track so they had to fix a special one for him to give him enough room. He is very tall and lanky with long legs and a long tail that touches the ground. He is a young guy that was only at the track for a few schooling races and just was so big and uncoordinated that they didn't think he was cut out to be a racer. So he never had one official race. He is a very young guy that won't turn 2 until November 18th. His sire is BD's Grayson and his dam is D's Pride. Cody is very quiet in his crate so may be good for someone living in an apartment. He is very calm for a pup but does enjoy running in the yard sometimes. He still has some puppy fuzz that will shed out later. He is a friendly guy that is good on leash in spite of his size. He kind of leans into you on walks and likes to stay close. He travels very well and just lays down in the back of his foster mom's van. He seems like he wants to please and do the right thing. More as we get to know this sweet, gentle giant. Cody was brought in as a special request for a previous greyhound adopter that lives in Massachusetts. He is not available. |

Hayley is one we have been waiting on to retire for a long time. A couple of her sisters are already retired and were placed through our group. Hayley had a longer career that spanned 116 races in Palm Beach and Derby Lane. She just retired from Palm Beach and placed in the money 61% of the time. Her sire is Dusty Outback and her dam is Nightingale. She raced at 61lbs and turned 3 on December 5th. Hayley is sweet, silly, funny, loving and playful. She loves rice krispy treats. She was brought in for one of our previous adopters and will be going home with them after she is vetted. |

Eyeful just arrived from the Goodman Kennel at Sanford Orlando Race Track. She also raced some of her 113 at Palm Beach and Southland. She mainly raced at the lower levels but did get up to the B level for a while. Eyeful is a cute, little, white with brindle spots girl that turned 4 on March 8th. She is tiny, racing at just 54lbs. She has the cutest ears that go straight up when she is looking at something. Her sire is Kelsos Fusileer and her dam is Estonia. She settled in to her crate right away and is doing great in her foster home. More as we get to know her. |

Night is a tiny little girl that came in from the Daytona Race Track in Fl with her sister Day. She raced at just 52lbs. Night and Day are in separate foster homes and are are fine being placed separately. Night started racing at Derby Lane but only raced a few races there. Most of her 48 races were in Daytona. She only won 2 of those races, so was retired young. She just turned 2 on December 11th. Night passed her cat and small dog tests very easily so should be able to live with cats or small dogs. She was interested in a very timid cat that would run away from her so would probably do better with a confident cat that stood its ground though. She is used to being around the children of her racing trainer ages 5 to 12 and likes kids. She is a curious, playful, little girl that is very friendly and has never met a stranger. She is very happy and excitable and her foster home is working on her leash skills since she wants to check out everything on walks. Night is a talker and will answer you with a cute little roo roo if you talk to her and get her excited. She is very confident and comfortable in any situation. She was relaxed and laying on her back with her feet in the air within 24 hours of being in a house the first time. She was fostered in a home with cats, small dogs and kids. Her sire is Bonafide Top Dog and her dam is RC Mystic Nugget. Since she is a pretty confident girl she is likely to want to be the top dog in a pack, so would need to be placed with more submissive dogs that would be OK with that. She can be a bit bossy with the other dogs in her foster home and her foster mom has been working on that. She is getting much better. She loves water and tried to go swimming in the pool. If you want a cute, tiny little girl with a great, outgoing, personality, Night is your girl. |

Fifi is a young girl that never raced that came to us from Julia Ward's farm in Kansas. She is a young girl that was born on 12/3/13. Her sire is Last Outlaw and her dam is WW's Sedan. Fifi has no prey drive and wouldn't chase a lure, so she never made it to the race track and never completed the registration process. She has tattoos in her ears but doesn't have an official racing name. Fifi is happy, sweet girl that is very friendly but submissive, dropping down at your feet and rolling over to show her belly while wagging her tail like crazy. Fifi has been in an adoptive home since March but she is getting more and more afraid of their toddler and his toys as he gets older and more mobile. They have made the difficult decision to find another home for her without toddlers where she can be happy. Fifi has no prey drive and doesn't even chase squirrels or neighborhood cats in her backyard. She lives with a cat and a small kitten. She is excellent on leash. She is very sensitive and rarely ever does anything again if she is corrected for it. Her foster home the Hayes Family decided to keep Fifi. |

Weird is an extra large brindle boy that raced at 82lbs. We don't know how he got his "weird" name but he doesn't seem weird at all. Super sweet and cute! He retired from the Palm Beach Race track after only 8 races on August 13th. He did win a couple of races out of those. He is young and just turned 2 on October 29th. His sire is Kiowa Wish Frank and his dam is Rosalina. We placed his littermate Kiowa Wish N You too! He was too excited about meeting the cat so we don't think he should live with a cat. He seems OK with a small white dog though. He is pretty good on leash. He is a very outgoing happy guy. More as we get to know him. His foster mom who also owns his brother decided to adopt him. His new name is Andy. |

Domina just arrived from a Kansas farm. She raced very briefly in Wheeling and Sarasota and wasn't very good, only winning a couple of races. She did have a good bloodline so her owners wanted her to be a mom. She had 2 litters of pups that are racing now. Three pups in 2014 and 4 more in 2015. There may be more pups that aren't registered yet from more recent litters. Domina raced at 66lbs and her sire is Super C Sampson and her dam is Sing It Blondie. She will turn 9 on September 22nd. Domina has it all, super sweet, calm, happy and friendly personality. She is the favorite dog of the grandkids on her farm. She is pretty stressed out by everything new since she arrived. She should warm up with time and become the happy friendly girl she was at the farm after she gets more comfortable. Because she is an older girl Domina qualifies for our reduced adoption fee of $200. More as we get to know her. |

Gracie came in from a greyhound puppy farm. She was the result of an accidental breeding so she can't be registered to race and was never tattooed. We aren't sure who her parents were and the rest of the puppy litter has already been placed in adoptive homes. This cute girl is very tiny, at just 29lbs when she arrived. She should be bigger than this at this age so she is either younger than we think, or is the runt of the litter and likely to stay tiny. A tiny adult female greyhound usually weighs 50 - 55lbs, so she has a lot of growing to do to catch up. She is only about knee high right now and perches on the arm of a sofa comfortably. She is a friendly, sweet girl that seems very social. She is a puppy so is likely to be much higher energy than the typical adult greyhound. Greyhound puppies need large fenced yards and can run and play for hours. Like all puppies they need constant supervision while they learn house rules and learn how to be a good dog. Once they learn it they are likely to still need supervision and frequent reminders because they forget the rules quickly. Greyhound puppies are like any other breed of puppy and are not the easy laid back dogs that adult greyhounds become. For those that have a lot of time and patience, puppies can be a lot of fun, but they can be very challenging. |

Noralie just arrived from the Kansas Farm where she has been living since she retired from racing. She was a great racer that traveled around and raced at a lot of tracks: Flagler, Naples Ft. Myers, Southland and Pensacola. She was consistently a top level A racer and even competed in big Stakes Races. So when she was retired she went back to the farm to be a mom. Her pups are too young to be registered yet so we aren't sure how many she has. Noralie raced at 62lbs and just turned 6 on January 6th. She is a bouncy, happy girl that loves people and is very outgoing. She is playful and doesn't act her age at all. She needs some work on walking on leash because she does pull. Her sire is the very famous Kiowa Sweet Trey and we placed her mom Flying Northern. More as we get to know this gorgeous girl. |

Spin is a small red fawn girl that raced at 56lbs, She just retired from the Daytona Beach Race Track after only 5 races. She placed toward the back in every race. She is very young and won't even turn 2 until May 5th. Her trainer says she got her name because she will get down low and spin on her back legs when she is excited or happy. She is a super outgoing girl that loves everyone she meets. She would be a meet and greet superstar according to her trainer. Since she is young she is still pretty active and playful. Her sire is WW Apple Jax and her dam is WW's Revolver. Spin passed her cat test and should be fine to live with small dogs too. She has been around her trainer's kids ages 5 to 12 for the short time she was in the racing kennel. She has been there since January. Spin has done well on walks and is pretty good on leash. She wasn't phased by the hardwood floors in her foster home. Very cute girl that doesn't seem to be worried by much. |

She was mainly competitive at the lower racing levels. Shale just turned 3 on Feb 6th. Her sire is the famous Rhythmless and her dam is CJC's Equalizer. Shale is doing great with the grandchild of her foster mom and follows her around all the time. She is a friendly, happy girl that is going to make a very loving pet. Shale passed her cat test with only a little initial interest. She corrected easily and lost interest so we think she should be trainable with some supervision at first. She passed her small dog test too. |

Cindy's sire is Go Bon Hawk Talk and her dam is Rido's Sandra. She is a friendly, sweet girl that is pretty calm and well behaved. She is used to being around her race trainer's children that are ages 5 - 12 and she really loves kids and will seek them out. Cindy passed her small dog test so should be fine to live in a home with them. She was interested in the cat at first but was correctable so would need further training with cats to be able to live with them. Such a sweet, cute girl! A good girl that has adapted very well to life in a home. |

Stan is a large red male with cute ears that stand straight up. He is 80lbs of sweetness. Although he is large he isn't as tall as he is muscular. He has that body builder look. Stan just arrived from the Daytona Beach Race Track but he also raced a lot of his 111 races at Orange Park in FL. Although he ran quite a few races he mainly raced at the lower levels and did more placing than winning. Stan will turn 4 on August 28th. His sire is Stan's Boy Flyer and his dam is Blazing Lilac. We placed his littermate Blazing Andy last year. Stan is a calm, friendly male that was always good in the kennel. He doesn't jump up or bark and so far hasn't had accidents in the house and hasn't tried to steal anything. He would be a very easy first or 4th greyhound He is used to being around his race trainer's children ages 5 to 12. Stan also passed his cat and small dog tests so should be able to live with either. |

Dusty is a 78lb black male that won't turn 3 until November 26th. His sire is the famous Lonesome Cry and his dam is TMB Sweet Alex. He just retired from the Daytona Beach Race Track. He only raced a few races there before his kennel closed. He also raced a few races at Palm Beach and Derby Lane. He didn't race long and only has 29 races listed. Dusty is a very friendly, sweet guy that stood with his head on our shoulder for an entire 2 hour drive. He seems like he has a real goofy personality that shows in his pictures. He does have a short attention span and wants to check out everything at once which helped him pass his cat and small dog tests. Small dogs cool! Cool cats! Look a plant! What is this a rug? A toy! Look a TV! Wow so much to see! Dusty is a handsome guy that has a shiny black coat and will make someone a fun friend. He is young and does have a higher energy level because of his age than a typical couch potato greyhound probably because he is so young. He is bouncy and does pull on leash trying to see everything in his exciting new world. He does have an amazing tongue but in his defense it was a really hot day when the pictures were taken. Dusty's trainer at the track took her 3 boys with her to the kennel so all her dogs are used to being around children. Dusty is doing great in his foster home on a farm with the cats, chickens, goats and cows. |

Willy initially came in from the Sanford Orlando Race Track where he raced 122 races. He was pretty good and got up to the top A level briefly. Willy is a an extra large guy that raced at 83lbs. His sire is Gable Sour Cream and his dam is Sweetsouthern. He just turned 6 on December 24th. Willy is a very friendly, happy, confident guy. He was in an adoptive home since April of 2015, so he is already home acclimated. He loves people and does great at our meet and greets going up to each person for love. He is the rare greyhound that will actually bark at intruders that try to come into his home and yard though so would be a great dog for someone that wanted a watch dog. He loves to go out on walks and for drives and is very friendly with everyone he meets off of his own property though. He adores going for walks and potties great on leash so would be fine for a family without a fenced yard. Willy is a great guy with a fun, playful personality in short bursts. He is calm and well behaved in the house though. He loves to lay on the couch with his owner with his head in his lap and loves to snuggle. Because he can be protective of his property, we think he would do best in a quiet, adult only home that doesn't have guests often. Willy has had some grumpiness over his space when laying down and that is another reason we have him listed as no children. He has done great in his foster home living with other greyhounds and two smallish to medium sized dogs but Willy can be bossy with other dogs. Medium to large housemates are OK if they are submissive and OK with another dog being the leader of the pack. Willy has lived in a home as an only dog so would be perfect for a one dog household too. His foster mom says he is a super sweet guy and is perfectly behaved, clean in the home with no accidents, and sleeps quietly both in his crate and all night long. Willy may be a good choice for apartment living too. If you like big greyhounds, Willy could be your guy! |

Coco came in from the Jacksonville FL Orange Park Race Track. She broke her leg in her last race on Jan 18th. She had surgery to repair it funded by Pro Greyhound, a group that funds surgical repairs and rehab of retired racers through your donations. If you would like to donate see their page here. Coco raced 121 races, some at Gulf Greyhound Park in Texas before moving to Florida. She raced at 61lbs and turned 4 on Feb 6th. Her sire is Look My Way and her dam is Poor White Dog. She has completed her rehab and recovery and has been released by our vets for adoption. Her leg has healed very well and she should be able to run around and play normally. Coco is pretty friendly and likes people, but she isn't a social butterfly. She isn't pushy for affection and is perfectly happy to stand back and let others get the attention. Coco loves to be outside and will lay in the yard watching her foster dad while he does yard work. She is calm and sweet. Coco does complain some when crated so probably wouldn't be a good apartment dog, although she is quiet when out of the kennel. She passed her cat and small dog test so should be fine to live with either. |

Gem just arrived from North Shore Kennels at Palm Beach. She is a tiny girl that raced at just 53lbs. She only raced 17 races total and also raced briefly at Derby Lane. She didn't win one of her races and broke her hock in her last race on October 19th. Her leg was fixed and rehabbed at the track and the vet has cleared her for adoption now. The leg healed up great and she can play and run around with no problem. Her trainer describes her as "super sweet and friendly", and says she'll climb right up in your lap. She is definitely a snuggly girl that loves to be close. She's playful and probably would prefer a family that will keep her active or a playmate with a yard where she can run around. She's quiet and calm inside the kennel and house though and gets along with all the other dogs. She is a cute girl that has ears that stand straight up when she sees something she is interested in. Gem's sire is the famous Lonesome Cry and her dam is Kiowa Lazy Jill. She is young and just turned 2 on Dec 11th. Gem passed her cat and small dog tests so should be fine to live with either. She seems to like the grandchildren that visit her foster home. |
