Additional Details:

Shane just arrived from the Running to Stand Still Farm in Florida. He raced only 10 maiden races at Derby Lane in FL and didn't win any of them. He got bumped in his last race in February of 2020 and had a minor muscle injury, so went back to the farm for some down time. Shane healed up completely long ago. Even though he would have been fine to return to racing, racing is ending in Florida at the end of this year, so Shane's owner decided to just retire him permanently rather than return him to racing for just a few months. Shane is a very special dog whose racing name was given to him in honor of his owner's late husband. He turned 2 on May 14th. Shane's sire is the famous Kiowa Myth and his dam is Be Limitless. Shane raced at 73lbs but currently weighs 76. He is personality plus. Shane will just lean against you for love and his whole body wags when he gets excited. When he gets excited, he bounces and sometimes tries to give hugs. He is very food motivated so may be a great guy for someone that wants to do trick or obedience training. Shane paid very little attention to the cat when he met it and also did great with a small white dog he is fostered with, so should be able to live with either. He loves everyone he meets including the small kids in his foster home. Shane does pull on leash excitedly going to check out new people and things, we are working on that. He crates very quietly so may do well for apartment or townhouse living. Shane was a marker when he first arrived, but is doing good on his potty training in his foster home now. He is likely to need close supervision when acclimating to a new home. Shane has been perfectly behaved with the male and female dogs in his foster home. His racing owner reported that he was a confident guy that could be a bit bossy with some of the other male greyhounds he was turned out with. His neuter may have helped with that, because we have seen no bossiness and have been surprised at how tolerant he has been with a bossy, annoying, large puppy in his foster home. Shane has the best personality and seems like a fun, loving dog that will make a wonderful, devoted pet for some lucky family.
