Casey just came in from the Birmingham Race Course Adoption Kennel. He actually raced in Palm Beach and Sanford Orlando though. He got up to A level so was good. Casey broke his hock in his 26th race on December 28th. He was sent to the Birmingham Track Adoption Group because of their rehab program for retired Greyhounds. His leg was splinted by the vet there. It did not heal properly and he was still barely using it when we got him. We had him rechecked by a specialist. Casey had to have the leg rebroken and plated in a surgical procedure on April 9th. The surgery was a success and the specialist thinks it will heal up and be usable again. Casey got picked on by other males at the track so will need a home with either no other males or another submissive male that won't pick on him. He is missing a chunk of one of his ears from one of the times someone picked on him. Casey is just a little timid and unsure in new situations. He is friendly and waggy with people though. Casey is bouncy and seems to be pretty energetic, but that could be because he has been on crate rest since the end of December and hasn't been allowed to play or run around at all. Casey just turned 2 on January 23rd so is still very young. His sire is the famous DJ's Octane and his dam is PJ Stay Back Kat. Casey did not pass his cat test at the track and was way too interested in kitties to live with them. He has been fine with a 15lb white Italian greyhound in his foster home so should be OK with small dogs. He crates well and keeps his crate clean. He does pull on leash curious to see everything. He travels well. His foster home says he loves her 12 year old daughter and seems to really like kids. Update one of our vets decided to adopt Casey and he will complete his rehab with her.
