Tawnie went to the the track but only ran three maiden races before deciding she would prefer to be a pet. She is a much better pet than she was a racer and has reached the professional pet level. Tawnie is an exceptionally sweet, laid back girl that is has already been in a home for most of her life. She has good house manners and was returned to us due to financial reasons and not because of anything she did wrong. She is a sweet girl that loves adults and children. Tawny is cat tolerant and has lived with cats before. She has also lived with small dogs in her previous home and even is living with very small puppies in her foster home and is good with them and their mother. This is a great girl that seems to be great with anything and everything and what a beauty she is, with her spots AND stripes! That sweet face is hard to resist! She is a grand daughter of the famous Oswald Cobblepot. |

Simon is a beautiful small white boy with freckles called ticking. He raced at just 64lbs so is very small. He is friendly and happy and loves everyone he meets. He gives kisses and grins when he is happy. His birthday is February 22nd. On Easter Sunday he played in the yard with several small children and did great with them and seemed to really enjoy it. His foster mom says even though he has just arrived he is making himself at home and seems like a wonderful guy already. More as we get to know him. |

Joanie is a tiny little girl that never made it into a real race. She got to the track at Jacksonville but failed out of schooling because she ran too close to the rail and kept hitting it with her toes. What a cute, sweet little girl! She is young and won't be two until May 10th 2012. Her sire is Maryville Rumble. She was just a little timid when she first arrived but loves people and is waggy and happy. When you call her a "pretty little girl" her tail will go in a big circle. She loves playing with toys and likes to play tug. She has had no accidents in her foster home and is very well behaved. She is a natural sitter too. Joanie passed her cat and small dog test so should be fine with small animals. She gets along well with other dogs of all sizes. Joanie also loves children and is doing great with the 5 year old in her foster home. She has made a little noise in her crate so may not be the best apartment dog. Her foster home says that she is the most loveable, laid back little girl that will steal anyone's heart that meets her. |

Fury is a recent Economy Return. Fury was returned for financial reasons a couple of years ago too but bad luck has struck this older gentleman again. Fury is a great pet and already home acclimated and the returns had nothing to do with his behavior because he couldn't be more perfect. Fury is a son of the very famous Fortress and is a gorgeous, tall, red, 10 year old guy. He was quite the racer and won many races and was a real star back in the day. He was his racing owner's favorite dog and his best racer. Those days are over though and Fury prefers lounging on the the couch or bed now and doesn't do much running around anymore. He is very laid back, calm and well behaved. Fury passed his cat test and has been living with a small dog in his foster home and is very good with him. We think Fury would do best in a home with other dogs to hang out with. He has never been an only dog before and enjoys the company of others. Fury has been checked out by our vet, received a dental and is healthy and ready for his new home. Fury had to have all but two of his teeth removed when we got him back because of painful infection and rotten teeth so he will need his food softened. But on the bright side he won't need his teeth brushed or expensive dentals! Because Fury is over 8 years old he qualifies for our reduced adoption fee of $200. Thanks to CrazyCollars for donating another $75 towards Fury's adoption fee which brings his total adoption fee to only $125! |

Amanda is a recent Economy Return. This is her second round of bad luck. She was returned by another family in 2010 for the same reason. Amanda is a tiny, sweet brindle girl that turned 8 on Christmas day. Her sire is the famous Castor Troy and her dam is CC's Debbie Lynn. She is a smaller girl that raced at 58lbs. Amanda lived with children and a small dog in previous homes so would do fine in a home with either. She also passed her cat test. Amanda is sweet, loving and very friendly. She loves to snuggle and rest her head in your lap. She is calm and has been perfectly behaved in in her foster home. We think she would make a nice Therapy Dog because she has such a calm, quiet, but friendly personality and is so well behaved. Amanda is a star at our meet and greets. Her foster mom always dresses her up in fancy collars, coats, bling and occasionally even a hat. Amanda loves it and loves the attention she gets when she is all dressed up. She is so beautiful and looks SO young without much white on her face. No one would dream that she is 8 years old. Because she is 8 years old she qualifies for our reduced senior adoption fee of $200. Thanks to CrazyCollars for donating another $75 towards Amanda's adoption fee which brings her total adoption fee to only $125! |

Fancy is a cute little girl that raced at 61lbs. Her birthday is August 2nd and she is a daughter of the famous Dodgem By Design. Fancy is already home acclimated and has been living in her racing owner's home since she retired in October. Her racing owner already has a number of pet greyhounds so is not able to keep Fancy, even though she would like to. Fancy has great house manners and is very well behaved. She will give a quick bark if she needs to go out to potty and another at the door to let you know she is done and ready to come back in. She LOVES people and will stick close to you if she is awake. She will put her front legs and chest in your lap on a chair to snuggle with you. So far she has not gotten up on furniture though except for this, but we are pretty sure she would with a little encouragement. Fancy loves to play outside and will play with toys outside and entertain herself even if no humans or dogs want to play with her. She seems to really like playing with balls. She was living with quite a few other large dogs of different breeds and gets along great with males and other females. She has even done great with the small 13lb Italian Greyhound in her foster home. She also passed her cat test and even seemed to like the cat as she rubbed up against it - until it smacked her for it. Then she decided it was best not to be too friendly with cats. She is more focused on interacting with the humans than playing with the other dogs so might be OK as an only dog too. Fancy crates well and is quiet in her crate except for a little whining at meal times. |

Broadford is a gorgeous red girl that raced at 68lbs. Her birthday is June 8th and she is another daughter of the famous Dodgem By Design. She retired a little over a month ago and has been good from the start in her foster home. It is almost like she has lived in a home at some point before. She seems like a calm, laid back girl that loves her dog beds and attention from people the most. Broadford is a friendly, happy girl. So far she has done great with a number of other dogs in the home of different breeds and even a small Italian Greyhound. She passed her cat and small dog test without interest in either so should be good in a home with either. She will play bow and pounce down into almost a down and try to get you to play with her. She is so cute and sweet. She can hold it for a long time in the crate and really tries to stay clean. She potties on leash so may be OK without a fenced yard |

Dash is a red male that just arrived from the track in Orlando. He is a sweet, very calm, guy that never caused any trouble at the track according to his trainers. They felt he would be a very easy, sweet dog for just about anyone. He is a mid sized male and weighed 71lbs at the vet. His birthday is Sept 7 2008. So far Dash has been very quiet and very calm at his foster home. He doesn't make a peep in his crate and sleeps thought the night. He seems to walk pretty good on leash already and didn't have any trouble the first time he tried steps. He passed his cat and small dog test with flying colors too. He loves people and was a big hit at his first meet and greet calmly going up to each person and leaning into them wanting to snuggle. He never got nervous or excited even in the busy Expo center with all the people, noises and things going on. He just kept greeting each person as if it was his job. He was very gentle with kids and really seemed to like them. If you want a handsome, very laid back guy Dash may be the one for you. He is one of the more laid back 3 year olds we have met. |

Kimmie is a brood that just arrived from a greyhound breeding faciliity in the Jacksonville Fl area. She is a daughter of the famous Dodgem By Design and is 7 years old. DOB June 24, 2004. She raced at 62 lbs and is a beautiful, brindle girl that doesn't look her age and doesn't have much white on her face yet. For whatever reason she didn't actually ever end up having puppies and didn't actually have much of a racing career either because of a broken hock early in her career. The hock is totally healed and you can't even see where it was broken now. She is very friendly, happy and loving with people. Kimmie passed her cat and small dog testing and has been fine with a small dog in her foster home after an initial sniff. She loves to play with stuffed toys that squeak and stole stuffed toy football of the shelf at Petco and laid on a bed squeaking it and playing with it for much of the day. She was a huge hit at her first meet and greet at Petco going up to kids and grownups for love. She is a confident girl that wasn't phased in the least by all the people, dogs and attention. She is a fun girl that would be another that would probably excel as a Therapy Dog. |

Dorothy was a successful racer and was sent back to the farm for a second career as a mom. She did not have any puppies though and has now been retired and is ready to find a home and a couch. She is a sweet, outgoing, friendly, girl that seems to take everything happily in stride. Dorothy loves to give sweet kisses and is very gentle taking food from your hand. She travels well and seems to do very well with other dogs. Dorothy passed her cat and small dog tests and is living with cats in her foster home so would be fine for a house with cats or small dogs. She also seems to like children and seems like the type of dog that would be excellent in a home with kids. Dorothy likes to snuggle and adapted to her foster home like she had always lived in one. Nothing seems to bother her. Dorothy wants to be with people and is content to just lay at your feet. She doesn't have much white on her face and definitely doesn't look her age or even act her age. Dorothy was born on Feb 7th of 2003 and is a daughter of the famous Craigie Whistler. She is a super sweet, girl that has a lot of personality and a lot of love to give a lucky family. |

Favorite is gorgeous! Tall, dark and handsome with a shiny, black coat. He raced at 77lbs and retired from the Orlando Track. Favorite's birthday is 10/1/09 so he is young, just 2 years old. He is happy, playful, friendly and loves everyone he meets. He didn't pass his first cat test but did pass his second. He does respond to correction so we think he will be trainable with cats and we will be glad to introduce him to your specific cat since he had mixed results with his first two tests. He was fine living with a small Italian Greyhound in his foster home and seems like the type that will get along well with other dogs male or female. He was too interested in chasing a fuzzy pomerianian he met though so my not do well with very small fuzzy dogs. Favorite has discovered toys and loves to play with them - maybe a little too much sometimes. He seems like a fun guy that will be an easy first or 4th greyhound. Favorite was sired by Tony's Oracle. He pulls on leash when excited and needs reminders sometimes. |

Kareem has been in a home before so is home acclimated and has good house manners. He has lived with cats and small dogs and is fine with them. He is a friendly, loving guy and very sweet. He is a smaller guy that raced at just 69lbs. Kareem's birthday is December 12th. Kareem's only negative is that he is very food motivated and has shown some possessiveness over his food occasionally. We are working on that with him. Because of that we think he would do better in a home with no children even though he has lived with children and has always been gentle with them. Kareem is such a gorgeous guy! |

Georgia is an 8 year old brindle girl with black ears and tail. Her birthday is July 10th. She is friendly, waggy and very loving with her family but can be a little timid out in public and with people she has never met. She is quiet, well-behaved, clean in the house, and crates willingly with 'let's go to bed'. Georgia loves to play with toys and is great on stairs. So far she hasn't tried to get up on the furniture and just comes over and puts her head in your lap and lays on dog beds near you. Georgia was living in a home with 4 little boys and was great with the older ones but was not comfortable with the 3 year old or a baby. She needs a home with well behaved older kids or no children. She gets along well with other dogs small and large and has lived with a cat in her foster home and a puppy. Georgia seems like she would do well with other animals or as an only dog. She is healthy and has been vetted and is ready to go home. Her foster home says they can't say enough good things about her. The older dogs that have already been in a home before are the easiest to foster and often the hardest to let go. Because of her senior status Georgia qualifies for a reduced adoption fee of $200. |

Inez just arrived from the track in Florida. She is a small girl that raced at 56lbs. She has the same mother as one of the other sweet girls we have adopted out and we bet that she will be just as sweet as her half sister. She is 4 years old and was born on Oct 17, 2007. She passed her cat and small dog tests at the track so should be able to live with either. She is curious about small animals at first meeting but just needs some supervision and a sniff and seems to lose interest in them quickly. She is a friendly, happy girl that doesn't seem to know a stranger. A cute lighter red girl with some dark fur on her face. She likes to play with other dogs and will pounce up to them and bounce around trying to get them to play with her. Seems like she is going to be a very fun girl. She has been a little loud when left alone in a crate so probably wouldn't be a good dog for apartment or townhouse living. |

Breezy is a very young girl that wasn't fast enough for the race track or just not that interested in chasing. She will turn 2 on April 4th. Her sister Angel also retired with her. Breezy has been a little timid and overwhelmed with all the changes in her life but seems like she will warm up quickly. She seems like the more active of the two girls and stays busy checking everything out. She has the cutest way of greeting people with a happy wag and a roo roo roo when you come to the gate to get her. Her sister Angel stands back a bit more. Breezy needs a little work on leash because she is nervously checking things out. It was hard to get her to stand still for photos. She is such a gorgeous girl with lots of eyeliner and such a happy personality that is easy to see even though she is still nervous. She was perfectly fine with the small white dog in her foster home so should be fine with other small dogs. |

Rarefeat is an extra large, tall, brindle male that raced at 83lbs. He is such a handsome well behaved guy! His birthday is May 5th and he will turn 4 then. He is an easy going guy that is very friendly and calm. Just walking up to people and wagging his tail politely and leaning in for love. We think he has potential as a great therapy dog. He is the grandson of a brood mom we adopted out named Greys Fiddle De and is very sweet like his mom. His father is the famous Stan's Boy Flyer. He goes potty on leash so would do fine in a home without a fenced yard like an apartment or townhouse. He is also very quiet which makes him a good candidate for apartment living. This is a sweet, easy guy because of his friendly, laid back personality. He is going to be a great dog for some lucky family. His foster family says he is very well behaved. He is cat friendly and does well with dogs of all sizes and is fostered with some tiny dogs. He is very gentle with children and seem to like them. If you like big dogs this is your guy! He is a gentle giant. |

Edna is a red brindle girl that was a good racer at Derby Lane. She just retired after 179 races and celebrated her 4th birthday on October 13th. She raced at 60llbs. Her sire is Maryville Rumble. She is very happy cute and waggy. She tried to climb up in her foster mom's lap every time she sat down. She got along well with all the other dogs in her foster home including small dogs. More as we get to know her. |

Hope is a tiny little girl with the prettiest dark, red brindle coat. Her birthday is April 20th 2006. She is just a bit shy and unsure of herself at first mainly just around men but warms up fast. Hope never raced because she would not chase the lure and would just stop in the middle of the track during training. She tested cat and small dog safe and was even a bit afraid of the cats so would be fine living with either. Hope has been in an adoptive home since she was just 18 months old. When Hope's owner had to go into a nursing home, one of her caregivers took Hope temporarily but eventually we had to find her a permanent home. She lived with another older female greyhound in her previous home and seems to get along well with others. Hope is already home acclimated and is a sweet, well behaved girl. She crates well and likes to go there during thunderstorms which scare her. Some of the photos of Hope were taken when she was 18 months old when she first retired from the track but she looks nearly the same now. There are a couple of recent full length photos of her under her other photos - the one of her stretching and the photo of her with the lab. This is a cute sweet girl that is already house trained and used to living in a home. She grins when she is happy to see you and will lay at your feet and make little moaning noises to get your attention - mainly if no one is petting her. She is such a cute girl with the sweetest personality! |

Iggy is a smaller 69lb, red brindle male that is very timid at first. He is a littermate to two of our other dogs BT Ember and BT Fire that have been adopted and are great pets. Iggy's birthday is Jan 28th, 2008 so he is 3.5 years old. His sire is the famous Flying Penske! He loves to watch TV and has actually laid on his foster dad's lap and napped while watching TV - see his photos. He is living with quite a few other dogs including a couple of puppies in his foster home and seems to get along very well with others. Ignite crates quietly and likes to be in his crate. Although he can be shy out in public he warmed up in his foster home after just a couple of days and now is friendly and happy and a big snuggler. Iggy is living with cats and small dogs in his foster home so should be fine living with either. He seems to prefer women over men but did warm up to his foster dad. He could go to a home with only a man and would be fine since he would be forced to interact with him. In a family situation with a woman and a man we have noticed that he prefers the woman and takes a longer to warm up to a man. Iggy will be a great devoted pet if he just is given a little time to warm up. Because of Iggy's shyness we listed him as older children only, this is something we do with many shy dogs. We think that small, loud children would scare him and would just be a little too much for him to handle on a daily basis. We don't think he would ever intentionally harm a child in any way. He would probably be OK with visiting children although he may choose to stay in another room and not interact much. |

Jimbo is a gorgeous fawn male that just arrived. His 3rd birthday was November 15th and he raced at 70lbs. His sire is the famous Dodgem By Design which makes him a half brother to some of our other available dogs. He passed his tests with cats and small dogs without a problem. He did get interested in one cat although he was totally uninterested in chasing any other cats he has met so we changed him from safe with all to trainable. He has been living with cats and small dogs in his foster home with no problem. Jimbo is a friendly, happy guy that was a favorite at his racing kennel and a really good boy. He has been great in his foster home as well and has quickly settled in to life as a pet. His foster home really likes him and thinks he will be a great easy addition for some lucky home. What a cute face! This one won't last very long. |

Aggie will be arriving Saturday from the Derby Lane race track. She is 3 years old and just celebrated her birthday on December 12th. She is white with black spots - we call that color a "cow doggy". She raced at 63lbs and her sire is Fuzzy's Cannon. More as we get to know her. |

Courageous is a beautiful, sweet girl that is very friendly. She is laid back and well behaved. She is just retiring from her life as a mom and had one litter of pups more than a year ago. She was a fantastic mom and chose to spend an entire year raising her pups. They finally had to separate them when the pups went off to race training and she missed them so much. She travels well and just laid down in the car on the trip up from Florida most of the way. She did come up every now and then to check in and get petted. She did fine with two smaller dogs she has met so far so seems like she will be OK with them. She needs to be cat tested. Courageous is a grinner and will do the famous greyhound smile for you when she is happy. There was a lake on the farm where she has lived and she reportedly loves water and likes to swim. More as we get to know her. |

Blackjack is a sweet, friendly, happy boy that will celebrate his 4th birthday on March 19th. He raced at 75lbs. Blackjack passed his cat and small dog test so should be fine living with either. He has been living with a small white dog in foster care with no problem. He is home acclimated and has great house manners already. Blackjack has a glossy black coat and is SO beautiful. We need to get some newer photos of him because the ones we have are from when he first arrived and didn't have a shiny coat and was a little too thin still. Blackjack is quiet in his crate and potties well on leash and was actually fostered for awhile in a townhouse so would be a great apartment dog. He gets along well with other dogs but seems like he would also be fine as an only dog. He isn't that interested in playing with toys but has a ball he likes. He will roll over, show his belly and wave his paws at you to get a belly rub. Blackjack's only negative is that he has been a little grouchy about his space occasionally when laying down. Just a growl, never a bite. It isn't something that happens often and has improved and only happened once in the last 4 or 5 months. We think he probably should be placed only with older children that will understand not to bother him when he is asleep or laying down though. |

Strider is a beautiful black, shiny boy that raced at 71lbs. He is very young and just celebrated his 2nd birthday Dec 10th. Strider is a bit shy at first and would try to hide his head under someone's arm when he was nervous. He started following his foster family everywhere after only a couple of days and just melts for a tummy scratch. Strider is very sensitive to correction, just a stern word and he stops doing what he is doing. He is home acclimated and well behaved so rarely does anything wrong though. Strider potties well on leash so doesn't require a home with a fenced yard if his family is willing to leash walk him. He is good on leash and can do steps very well. He plays nicely with other dogs large and small, and is fine with cats. Strider even lived with birds so should be find with just about any small critters. He is a very loving, devoted boy once he warms up although he is initially a little shy about approaching strangers. He prefers women over men but will warm up to men too with a little time. Strider has shown some separation anxiety when left totally alone so would do best in a home with at least one other dog for company. Since he sometimes cries when left alone in his crate he would not be a good dog for apartment or townhome living. Strider is a great guy with a lot of love to give. He is young so is a playful, fun guy. |

Evie just arrived. She raced at 59lbs and turned 2 on Oct 29th. She is a daughter of the famous Dodgem By Design. Evie was retired due to a minor injury to her front wrist. This is nothing that even causes a limp at a walk but did effect her speed as a racer. Our vet said she will be fine to run around and play as a pet and it won't limit her in any way and is not going to be noticeable. Evie is friendly and well behaved and traveled well on her way up from the track in Florida. She is living in a foster home with several very tiny dogs and has been great with them so could go to a home with small dogs. Evie settled right into foster care and was so relaxed that she was on her back sleeping with all her legs in the air - we call that a roach and it is a sign of a happy relaxed dog. Her foster home says that she is one of those dogs that makes you feel good because she always wags happily if you even make eye contact with her. Evie is a very happy girl that loves everyone. She passed her cat test with only a little interest when the cats ran or jumped. The rest of the time she was perfectly fine with them. She seems very trainable and mainly just will need supervision with cats at first. |

Ace is a beautiful brindle male that just retired from the race track where he was racing at 76lbs. He is pretty young at just 2.5 years old and was born on April 17th, 2009. He is living with a cat and the 7 and 3 year old children in his foster home so should be fine in a home with cats, kids or small dogs. Ace has really adjusted to home life quickly. He is a total love bug and will come up and lean on you to get petted - we call it a "greyhound hug". Ace is also a kisser. He loves to play with squeakie toys and gathers them all up and hoards them in his crate after he is done playing with them. His favorites are the stuffed animals. Ace enjoys running and playing in the backyard and loves playing with the other greyhounds in his foster home. His foster home says he is very intelligent and picks up on things quickly. This is a sweet, friendly, fun, boy that seems like the type that will easily fit into just about any home. |

Beauty sure has the right name. She is just gorgeous with her rich, red brindle coloring. She is a 4 year old, brindle female that is a new arrival from a track in Florida. Her DOB is October 29 2007 and she raced 61lbs. Beauty has the short and stocky greyhound build. She is very short and can just walk right under larger males. She passed her cat and small dog tests at the track and has been great with the small dog in her foster home. Beauty was just a little timid when she first arrived but has gotten silly and playful since arriving and now seems to be a pretty confident girl. She crates quietly and potties quickly on leash so may be OK for apartment living and would be OK living in a home without a fenced yard. Beauty has a friendly happy attitude and is a great little girl! |

Tanner is a beautiful guy. He is another economic return. He and 4 other greyhounds are being returned because their family was moving and could not take them with them. Tanner gets along well with other dogs and lived in a home with many other dogs including a more dominant male so should be fine with males or females. He is cat and small dog tolerant too. He loved the 9 month old grandchild that was a frequent visitor in his previous home should be fine living in a home with children. His foster mom thinks he would really enjoy a home with children to play with. Besides being so handsome, Tanner has a wonderful personality and was described as "everyone's friend". This is a happy, outgoing guy that greets everyone like they are a long lost friend. Because he lived in a house before he has house manners already and is home acclimated so should be an easy addition to just about any home. |

Dominick is a very small, black male that raced at 62lbs but weighed in at the vets at just 56lbs. He is young and turned 2 on September 11th. Dominick is a son of the famous Dodgem By Design so is a half brother to quite a few of the dogs we have placed and some of our available dogs. He passed his cat and small dog tests so can live with either. Dominick was a just a little timid at first but he got over that right away and their is nothing timid about him now. He loves his foster family and even goes right up to strangers for love at our meet and greets. We have to watch him that he doesn't jump on people in his excitement to greet them. He loves going for rides. Dominick is a very loving, sweet guy with exceptional house manners. He doesn't have accidents in his foster home and never has. He gets along well with the other male and female dogs in his foster home. He is a master of the sad doggy eyes as you can see from his pictures but he is not a sad dog. He is really a happy, fun loving guy. Since he has been in foster care he has gotten the shiniest, beautiful black coat and is just a gorgeous guy with those flashy white socks, the white chest and the white blaze on his nose. Dominick can be a bit vocal when left alone so wouldn't be the best dog for apartment or townhouse living. |

McCoy was a dark brindle male that came from the Orlando race track. He raced at 69lbs. McCoy was born on July 1st 2008. He passed his cat and small dog test and was great with the small white dog he is living with in his foster home and the animals at the vet clinic he was boarded at. He was a friendly boy that wags his tail a lot but he wasn't a confident guy at all. He loved people and wanted to interact but circled around play bowing and trying to get their attention at a bit of a distance at first. Once he warmed up he would play and get quite silly. He had the most gentle loving eyes and cute puppy face. McCoy arrived with a tail injury. We tried to get it to heal up for a month but he wags so hard that he kept injuring it again. We ended up having to amputate his tail. It is pretty common to see greyhounds with no tail and is the mark of a very happy waggy dog. McCoy was adopted 1/1/12 but sadly passed away due to bone cancer shortly after adoption near his 4th birthday. |

Starburst is a tall beautiful, dark red, male that raced at a thin 66lbs. He actually a pretty tall guy for his weight. His birthday is July 10, 2009. He is friendly and sweet and loves people. The vet that treated him said that he was one of the most tolerant, sweet dogs she had met. When they put him up on the table to re do some staples, instead of struggling, he just laid there and wagged his tail happy to be getting attention. He didn't want to get up when they were done because he was enjoying the attention so much in spite of getting stapled. Starburst passed his cat and small dog tests and is living in a foster home with a small dog so should do fine in an adoptive home with either. Starburst crates quietly and potties well on leash so may be a good choice for townhouse or apartment living. He pulls on leash and we are working on that. This is a super sweet, loving guy that wants to please. He gets along well with the dogs in his foster home and if the play gets rough he walks away and chooses not to get involved. Such a sweet, sweet personality. We think he would do really well with kids because of his sweet nature, willingness to please and choosing to walk away instead of defending himself. He was a big star at meet and greets. He feels it is his job to personally greet every person he sees. No one is going to get by without a kiss, a snuggle or a lean. He is almost like a cat rubbing on people. |

Hoffa is a beautiful, black male that just arrived from the Orlando track. He raced at 74lbs. He was born May 6, 2008 so is 3.5 years old. He passed his cat and small dog tests at the track so should be fine living with either. Hoffa is doing GREYT so far! He is very laid back and sweet and is a very happy, waggy, loving guy. He gets along great with other dogs including a small one in his foster home. He is good with the children in his foster home as well!! Hoffa loves to be petted and will give kisses if you rub his ears. He eats well and has not had one accident in the house! He crates nicely and doesn't even try to get up on the furniture but he sure loves his dog beds. Hoffa is a wonderful guy that just wants to give and receive love and be a member of the family. |

Trindad is a friendly, sweet, red fawn male that is almost 3. He was born Jan 4 2009 and raced at 75lbs. He was at the adoption kennel at the race track briefly before coming to our group and quickly became a favorite of the workers there because of his sweet, outgoing nature. Trinidad is being fostered with a cat and a small dog and gets along well with other animals. Trinidad loves to be near his foster family and chooses to follow them around although he was just a little timid when he first arrived. He is playful and loves to give kisses. He wants to please and loves people and his foster homes say he is very well behaved. He travels well and has been great with the children in his foster home. He has been nervous around toddlers 3 and under though so would probably do better in a home with children beyond the toddler stage. Trinidad is a sweet guy that will be well behaved and very loving. Trinidad was featured on News 6 at Noon! Click here to watch his TV Debut! |

Zoe is a small Irish lass that was born in Ireland 10 years ago on August 1 2001. She is tiny, racing at just 55lbs. She is very short and is literally about knee high and is one of the shortest little girls we have ever seen. No one would ever guess that Zoe was 10 years old because she is in such good shape. She is buff and has such nice muscle tone that she looks more like a racer than an older gal. Zoe is a real beauty and a real lady. Since she has lived in a home for years she has perfect house manners and behavior. Zoe lived with cats and small dogs so would do fine with either. She was returned because after years of living with children she suddenly started avoiding a 7 year old child in the home and would stay in the bedroom to avoid interacting with the child. Although she has lived with children since she retired from racing, we think that Zoe would do better living in a home with adults. Now that she is an older girl, she needs more beauty rest and fewer annoyances in her life. Zoe has been seen by our vet and is healthy and ready to go home. Zoe is a star! She was on the news! Since Zoe is a senior she qualifies for a reduced adoption fee of $200. Thanks to the generosity of one of our members it has been lowered to $125. |

Apple is a tiny, black girl with a white face that raced at just 55lbs. She just retired from the Orlando race track. She lived in a foster home with a cat and a bird and has been around the tiniest of dogs and did fine with everything so far so seems to be a very low prey drive girl that can live with anything. She was born on September 7th of 2007 so is 4 years old. Her foster mom says she is sweet and friendly and always does the right thing and is so well behaved. She is quiet in her crate and clean in the house and even asks to go outside when she needs to go. She follows her foster mom around like a shadow and loves to be with her. She will stand forever with her head in your lap for petting and will choose to lay on cold tile next to you over a dog bed across the room. Her foster mom says that she will be a blessing to the lucky family that adopts her. Because she is a quiet girl she should be OK for apartment or townhouse living. |

Dentyne's entire litter had chewing gum names. She just arrived from the Orlando track. She was born on April 29th, 2008 so is 3.5 years old. She is a gorgeous girl with the most beautiful, shiny, black coat. She walks great on leash and seems like a lower energy girl that will be calm and well behaved. She is very sweet and friendly and likes to stay close. When she got to her foster home after her spay she wasn't feeling too good so didn't even try to get out of the car. Dentyne just laid in the back thumping her tail any time someone spoke to her. She has been perfectly quiet in her crate. Her trainer said she was a sweet, quiet, well behaved girl at the track too. On the haul up from the track she was a snuggler and seems to love people. She has the same father as one of our other available dogs, Iggy, and quite a few of the dogs that we have placed in the past. Dentyne passed her cat and small dog test at the track so should be able to live with either. She showed absolutely no interest in a small white dog that looked like a bunny in her foster home so seems like she is a very low prey drive girl. Dentyne does not potty well on leash so will probably need a home with fenced yard. When she is on leash she just walks next to you and stares up at you with love and doesn't spend a lot of time sniffing around. |

Ada Way is an extra large male that raced at 86lbs and is likely to still fill out some since he is so young. He is a big silly pup that won't turn 2 until March 4th. He is having a lot of fun playing with the kids and 5 other dogs in his foster home, including 2 small ones. Way is a very outgoing, friendly boy that loves everyone and looks at everything as a potential playmate. He wanted to play with the cat during his cat test but didn't show any prey drive toward it. Because of his size he would need some supervision and instruction that cats shouldn't really be played with from potential owners or a confident cat. He will also need some work on leash manners. This is a sweet guy that has a higher energy level because he is still a pup. He will need a home with a fenced yard where he can run and play and someone willing to play with him and make sure he gets plenty of exercise. Greyhounds don't really mature and act like calm laid back adults until sometime between their 2nd and 3rd birthdays. Way seems to be a smart guy that has learned the stairs and doggy door in his foster home right away. If you want a big soft affectionate young boy, Way is your guy. |

Kate is a beautiful, brindle female that raced at 63lbs. She was born June 26 2009 so is just 2 years old. Kate is a friendly happy girl. Kate has quickly settled into her foster home. She is a quick learner and is very eager to please. She has discovered toys and gathered up a huge pile in her bed and went from one squeeky to the next and back again - oh so much fun! She likes to gather up clothes and shoes and sleeps on them when her foster family is away. We think she feels comforted by their scent. She never damages anything when she does this. She has checked out the cat, the bird and the mixed breed small dog in her foster home and found them all interesting but not chase worthy. Kate seems to have a low prey drive and will be able to live with small critters with no problem. She will even let the cat steal her food. She is a precious little girl! Kate loves to hang out with the other 2 greys in her foster home and usually follows them around. Her foster family just loves this sweet girl and you will too. |

Goofy is a tiny guy that is smaller than most female greyhounds. This cute guy actually grins. That is why we picked him out of all the available dogs at the race kennel. If anyone got near his kennel he would give you a big grin and try to kiss your hand through the bars while he was wagging his whole body. If someone talked to him he would spin around in his crate in happiness. He is such a cute little, happy, loving guy we just couldn't resist him. He potties well on leash so may be OK without a fenced yard. He has great house manners and likes children and has lived with them in his foster home. He gets along well with the greyhounds in his foster home males and females. He still needs to be tested with cats. Goofy is a fun, playful, silly guy that loves playing with toys and balls. His foster family has nicknamed him Hollywood because he is always smiling and looks ready for his closeup. He is going to be a fun little guy for some lucky family. Congratulations to his foster family the McKees!!! Goofy will be staying with them! |

Rosie is a drop dead gorgeous girl that was also blessed with a wonderful personality. She is curious about everything and wants to check everything out at first but calms down nicely and is well behaved. When she first got to her foster home she greeted the other dogs then found the toys and started to play. Definitely a dog that will be comfortable and not phased by new things and going new places. This stunning girl is a larger girl that raced at 67lbs. Her birthday is October 15th. She is a very happy, outgoing girl that is very loving towards people and she seems to get along well with other dogs as well. Rosie loves to play with toys especially stuffed animals that squeak. Her racing owner says that Rosie and her mom both had a wonderful sense of humor and are fun dogs. Both were a joy to have in their kennel and never caused any type of problem. Rosie did fantastic at her first meet and greet and would greet everyone she saw. She liked children and adults and would bump them with her nose to get more petting if they stopped petting her. Rosie was a good racer but was retired because of a limp that would appear off and on after some races. It stems from an old injury to her hock that she had as a puppy. It has been looked at by our vet and won't effect her life as a pet since she won't run as hard playing as she did at the race track. She loves to run and play with other dogs and that doesn't seem to bother her or cause any limping. Walks don't bother her either and she would love to go for walks with her new owner. Rosie is a great girl that would be good in just about any home or situation. |

Don't let his name fool you, this boy is no gangster. He is a real lover and is very well behaved! Hoffa is a stunning mahogany red brindle male. He is a smaller male at under 70lbs. He is a half brother to Deacon. Hoffa is friendly and gives sweet kisses and is wonderful on leash too and is a very quick learner. This smally guy is very food and toy motivated so would be easy to train to do any type of trick. He calmly crates and has been very quiet in his crate and very well behaved so he might be a good choice for apartment or townhouse living. When you approach his crate he rolls over, shows his belly and waves his paw at you to get your attention. If you speak to Hoffa he will often talk back with a few little yips as if he is carrying on a conversation with you. He has been very good with the small dog in his foster home so should be able to live with other dogs of all sizes and passed his cat test. He loves children and is a real leaner that will rub against your legs similar to a cat. Hoffa loves stuffed toys with squeakers in them and will carry them around and play with them but he will also chase tennis balls. This is a sweet little guy that is a lot of fun!!! |

Congratulations to the Gibbs family of Inman! Shawna is a red girl with lots of white that is friendly and sweet. She is small and raced at 57lbs. Her birthday is April 4 2009. |

Nita Break - don't you just love that name! Nita was born Jan 7th 2008 and raced at 61lbs. Although Nita was pretty shy at first, now she is an affectionate, loving girl with her foster family. Nita follows her foster family around and initiates play with them - but still can be a little timid with strangers. This adorable, little girl has lived in a foster home with small dogs and cats so should do fine in an adoptive home with them. Nita loves to play with stuffed animals and a plain teddy bear is her favorite. She will toss her bear up and play all by herself if no one will toss it for her. She avoids shiny floors and stairs if she can. Nita is such a stunning red brindle and seems like she will be a wonderful pet for a very lucky family! |

Deacon is a young, unusually light fawn male with lots of black on his face and cute little floppy dark ears. Deacon is a medium sized guy that raced at 71lbs. He is playful and LOVES stuffed animals and balls with squeakers! He is very friendly and walks like a dream on leash without pulling. He seems eager to please and is very bonded to people and likes to stand right beside you with his head in your lap. If you are cooking in the kitchen or watching TV he will be laying at your feet. He barked a little in his crate at first but did correct easily so was able to be fostered in a townhouse and should be fine living in a townhome or an apartment. He is good with children and loves everyone he meets. He has gotten along well with dogs of all sizes in his foster homes including very small dogs. He has met some cats in cages at Petco and was politely curious but not overly excited. He has not been around free roaming cats yet but it looks like he may be able to live with them. We would be glad to introduce him to your cats carefully to make sure before he is adopted. Seems like he is going to be a sweet, happy, devoted addition for some lucky family. |

New York is a happy, outgoing boy that likes people and does well with other dogs. SO cute - just look at those sweet eyes! He followed his racing trainer around while doing chores and quickly became a favorite of his. He is doing great in his foster home and is a really sweet, happy guy. He has enough energy to be a fun guy but has been perfectly behaved and tries to please. He loves the grandkids in is foster home so should be good for a family with them. New York should be perfect in just about any situation. He raced at 69lbs so is on the small side for a male and has the prettiest red brindle coat. He just turned 2 on May 20th so is a young guy. He passed his cat and small dog tolerance tests so should be able to live with either and is living with some cats in his foster home. He crates quietly and potties on leash well so may do well in an apartment or townhouse. He loves to play with toys. Stuffed animals with squeakers are his favorite. You are going to love New York! Update New York has been renamed Harley and was adopted by one of our group's volunteers! |

Grumbler is not grumbly or grumpy at all. He is actually very friendly and loving. We think he got his name from the sound he makes when he he needs to go outside - kind of like the hamburgler in the McDonalds commercials - "rabble, rabble". Grumbler is an extra large greyhound, a gorgeous red brindle male that raced at 83lbs. He has an unusual slightly roman nose. Grumblers birthday is March 29th, 2008 so he is 3 years old.His foster home describes him as playful but pretty laid back and no trouble at all. He is a huge guy with long legs that is one of the tallest greyhounds his foster home has ever had. If you like big dogs this is your greyhound! He walks nicely on leash and potties on leash so may be OK without a fenced yard if his family was willing to walk him. In spite of his size he is easily corrected when he sees something interesting on a walk like a squirrel. He settled into home life very well and has done great on potty training since he makes the cute grumbly noise to let you know when he needs to go out. He gets along very well with other greyhounds male and female. He is a confident, happy guy that wags his tail a lot and will stand and let you pet him for as long as you are willing. Grumbler did great with kids and adults at a recent meet and greet and seemed to do OK with small dogs over 20lbs. He still needs to be tested with cats. Grumbler loves to roll around and play with toys and is usually found roaching on the living room rug! He may need some time to adjust if he would be a single pet, as he's used to having his foster-buddy around, and seems to be much happier when they can be together. He loves to show his appreciation and affection by hopping around when he's excited, coming up for ear rubs and body scratches, and talking in the funniest voice his foster family has ever heard! He will talk to you about how happy he is to go for walk, eat, or just to play. Grumbler came to us from a good owner and racing kennel and has always been treated well. You can tell from his sweet personality and love of people. He is a healthy guy that is neutered and ready to go home.

Peeler is a medium sized, brindle guy with lots of white trim that raced at 73lbs. His birthday is May 21st. He is one happy guy and is so silly that his name kind of fits. He is good with the cat in his foster home. He is very smart and wants to please. He has learned house manners after just being told once or twice. He seems to instinctually understand hand signals. His foster home thinks he might be a good dog for someone that wanted to train for competition obedience or agility. He is great with the children in his foster home (3 and 7 years old) He crates quietly and doesn't fuss about being in there although he prefers to be out. He is a velcro dog and likes to be near you. He likes to play with squeaky toys and will collect them and put him on his dog bed. He walks great on leash and loves to give kisses! His foster home says Onion Peeler is such a great guy that he would be a keeper if they didn't already have 4 greyhounds. |

Clown is an economic return from a family who has fallen into difficult times. He was originally adopted from a group in Rhode Island which we've been told has closed but we'll check that as soon as we can. Clown is a nicely-mannered, sweet boy that gets along with everything and everyone. He was living peacefully with other dogs as small as a Yorkie in his previous home. He loves to ride and quickly lies down in the car to enjoy the sights through the back window. Although he doesn't sit on command, he does a beautiful 'down' and will do that automatically when inside with his humans. Testing for cats and children will be done as soon as possible, but given what's been seen of this awesome dog, we would expect him to be wonderful with everything in the world around him.He qualifies for the special adoption fee of $200. Clowny was adopted by some volunteers that had moved to England but ended up in the states when they moved back. He performed with the Hounds of East Fairhaven at the Georgia and Carolina Renaissance Festivals until he crossed the bridge. |

Cobb is a sweet friendly medium sized guy that raced at 73lbs. His birthday is Feb 25th, 2008. He was a huge hit at his first meet and greet going to each person to get attention. He loved the kids he met too and seemed very tolerant. Cobb crates quietly day or night. He likes to play and was comfortable enough in his foster home to start playing right away. He likes to throw stuffed animals then pounces on them. He hasn't payed much attention to the small dogs or cats in his foster home so seems like he could live with either. Cobb is healthy, neutered and ready to go home. He seems like the type of greyhound that would do great with a first time greyhound adopter or one with a house full of greyhounds. His foster home says he is one awesome greyhound. Cobb came from a very good racing kennel that takes great care of their elite athletes. |
