Biter needs a new name. He is NOT a biter and never has been. Guess his owner was nearing the bottom of the name barrel. Biter is very sweet and social. He is very playful and was already playing with toys within minutes of arriving at his foster home. He wasn't phased by the trip up from the track or being in a home for the first time. He loves people! His sire is Domingo Dodge and his dam is Barts Joplin. Biter raced at Orange Park in Jacksonville Florida. He had an injury in his 3rd race in Jun of 2012 and was rested and rehabbed at the track until his next race on Dec 15th. He has raced since then but hasn't ever been able to win a race so was finally retired after 19 races. Biter was brought in specifically for his foster family and will be staying permanently with them if their current greyhound likes him. |

Miracle is a tiny greyhound puppy that is the result of an accidental breeding. Since her owner wasn't sure who her daddy was she can't be registered to race and was moved from the farm to our adoption group as soon as she was weaned. She was the only pup of the litter that survived so they called her Miracle at the farm. She is a confident girl that has gotten a lot of attention and is very social. She wasn't phased by being driven half way across the country or by anything in her new foster home. Well she isn't too fond of the leash and collar just yet. Greyhound puppies are not like the calm adults we love. They are full of energy and can run and play all day. Potential puppy owners must have large fenced yards for them to play in and experience with puppies. A puppy that can run 40 mph and reaches nearly adult size in 6 to 8 months can do a lot of damage unless it is supervised every second and has rules that are enforced. |

We placed two of Ralph's littermates Oscar and Otto. They are both sweet, calm, handsome boys that made great pets so we are very excited to get Ralph too. His sire is KJ's Yukon Gold and his dam is Gilded Rose. Ralph just turned 3 on October 7th. His trainers say he is calm and well behaved at the track. He raced 60 races starting out at Bluffs Run in IA and then moving on to Sarasota and Sanford Orlando in Florida. He crates quietly and is being fostered in a townhouse. He did well with the cats and small dogs that he saw at the vets office. Didn't seem to have any interest in chasing them so should be able to live in a home with them. Ralph will need a home with a fenced yard. He would pee on leash but wouldn't do any other business on leash. He held it for a couple of days at his first foster home so we moved him to a home with a fenced yard where he could be more comfortable. He just is way to polite to potty while on a walk on leash, we run into this a lot. |

Kelly Bee just arrived from the Sanford Orlando race track where she raced at 51lbs. She is a tiny, friendly, little girl and was the kennel pet at the racing kennel. She raced for over a year but only because she was a pet and her trainers didn't want to give her up. She only won one race in her career and rarely even placed. She hasn't even raced at all since May. Because she had a dog at home already that didn't get along well with others, Kelly Bee's trainer wasn't able to take her home as a pet and eventually let us have her. Everyone that has met Kelly Bee in the kennel and since she has retired just has fallen in love with her quiet gentle sweetness. We first met Kelly Bee on a visit to the track a couple of days after she arrived from the farm. We all fell in love with her than and she has had a line of people hoping to adopt her since then. She passed her cat and small dog tests and has loved the children she has met. Kelly Bee just celebrated her 3rd birthday on August 10th. Her sire is Tonys Oracle and her dam is WMS Sprint Away. |

Girl Friend is a cute red girl with a little black on her nose and cute floppy ears that flop toward the front. Pay no attention to her racing name- Crazy Girl - there is nothing crazy about her. She is actually very friendly and sweet. Her sire is the very famous Kiowa Sweet Trey and her dam is Fast and Furious. She raced at 64lbs and celebrated her 2nd birthday on May 28th. Girl Friend has 28 races to her credit - 1 win and quite a few placements. She raced at Sarasota and retired from Sanford Orlando. She travels well. She was good with the cats, small dog, ferret and two children in her first foster home, and equally peaceful with the dominant dogs in her second foster home. She is very affectionate and loves attention, always choosing to be with her humans no matter what is going on around her. She will crate and rest quietly at night or when left alone, but she would prefer to be out and about with her pack. Girl is smart and learns quickly so it is important that her family supervises her and teaches her what they want her to do rather than just letting her make up her own rules. She loves to play and would love a home with a fenced yard that she can run and play in. |

Puddles is a handsome black male that just turned 4 on August 14th. He is very tiny for a boy and raced at just 63lbs. His trainers say he is a calm, well behaved boy. He passed his cat test at the track so should be fine to live with cats and small dogs. He had a pretty long racing career with 142 races. He raced his whole career in Florida, starting out at Sarasota, then heading to Ebro, back to Sarasota and finally to Sanford Orlando. There are different levels of tracks so greyhounds are often moved to a mid level track if they aren't competitive at a high level track. They might also be moved from a lower level track to a mid or high level track if they are winning a lot of races, in hopes they will be competitive against higher level dogs and will earn bigger purses. Puddles sire is the very famous Kiowa Sweet Trey, his dam is Ale Black Smoke. Puddles is quiet in his kennel and does potty well on leash so may be a good apartment or townhouse dog. He is very friendly and sweet. He makes great eye contact just staring up at you with the sweetest expression on his face hoping you will pet him. |

Dough is a pretty silver brindle female. Her trainers said she was a nice, calm, friendly girl that would probably do well in a home with kids. We will test her again with cats but they felt that she probably would be trainable with cats. Her sire is the famous Lonesome Cry and her dam is Kelsos Peach. She will turn 4 on Nov 13 and is 61lbs. She raced 98 races so had a pretty long career. She is quite the traveler. She started out racing at Bluffs Run in IA, then went to Naples/Ft. Myers in Florida, then to Sarasota, back to Dubuque IA, then back to Florida to the Sanford Orlando Race Track. |

Molly was originally adopted through another group that is no longer around. She has been returned to us because she suddenly started having problems with another female greyhound in her home after being fine for years. She is a sweet girl with people but may just need to be an only dog. She has responded appropriately to all greyhounds she has met since she came into foster care though. It may have been a one time thing since the dogs had been living together for years peacefully before this. Molly turned 8 on Feb 18th. She raced at 60lbs and has 75 races listed. A few at Southland in Arkansas and the rest at Derby Lane in Florida. Her sire is the famous Oshkosh Slammer and his dam is Venus Theluvstar. Molly did not pass her cat test and mistakes very small dogs for bunnies so needs a home without them. She did fine at her first meet and greet with all the people she met and the other dogs around her. She seemed a little overwhelmed and wasn't going up to people much but wasn't shying away from people either. She is doing great in her foster home and seems to have good manners and is a calm well behaved girl. |

Sangria is a littermate to one of our own dog's Happy Stutz. We have waited for her to retire and she already has a home to go to. She is a tall girl that raced at 65lbs. Her sire is from England - Balligari and her dam is Elysium. She will turn 4 on December 1st. She has 99 races listed and started out at Southland in Arkansas and from there went to Palm Beach in Florida. She just retired from Sanford Orlando race track. She was never a great racer but was able to place at the lower levels and even win a few races. More as we get to know her. |

Bro is another one of the litter that retired straight out of training and didn't ever make it to the track. He is a black male that just turned 2 on May 26th. He is another tiny boy weighing only about 65lbs. His sire is Dave the Dog and his dam is Topaz Lass. Bro's foster home actually owns his dad Dave. Bro is pretty shy and needs some work on walking on leash because he freezes when he gets scared of new things. The shyness is genetic and we have gotted quite a few shy pups from Dave. They all end up being great loving pets once they get over their initial shyness though. Just takes a few months of patience on the part of their adoptive family. So far Bro has bonded very quickly to his foster mom and stays close to her following her around. He is pretty shy still of his foster dad though. Bro did great with a pug he met and wasn't even that interested in some chickens he rode up with, so seems like a pretty low prey drive guy that would be good in a home with small animals. He really likes having another greyhound to follow around and seems to learn from watching. When we took him to the vet a kid ran up to him and gave Bro a big hug before we could stop him. Most shy dogs tend to be more fearful around quick moving children but to our surprise Bro relaxed and did a little sigh and never made any move to avoid the child or get away. Even very social dogs don't normally enjoy being hugged by small strangers but Bro didn't seem to mind. Bro is on medical hold for heartworm treatment. He is expected to be cleared for adoption after it is completed around October 10th. |

Monster is a very sweet ,calm boy that is well behaved at the kennel. His trainer says he is a very beautiful fawn but instead of being tan with black ears, black nose and tail that fawns usually have he is the tan fawn color with blue grey ears nose and tail. He is a larger guy that raced at 77lbs. His sire is Iruska All Star and his dam is RK's Proformance. He celebrated his 4th birthday on the 4th of July. He had a long career of 143 races. He started off in Wheeling WV, then went to Southland in Arkansas. From there he went to Palm Beach in Florida then to Melbourne and finally to Sanford Orlando where he retired from. He seems like he will cat and small dog friendly because he didn't appear to be very interested in chasing either at the vets. |

Larry is a red male from the litter that retired out of race training and didn't make it to the race track. Larry is one of the more confident friendly boys in the litter. His sire is Dave the Dog and his dam is Topaz Lass. Larry's foster mom owns Lass's brother and another of our foster homes owns his dad. Larry turned 2 on May 26th so he is a young guy. So far Larry seems like the most outgoing of the brothers. He does like people and will approach for petting so isn't really shy like some of his brothers but can be a little nervous when first meeting strangers. He will warm up quickly though and definitely prefers his foster dad to his foster mom so would be a great man's dog. He has played well with the other greyhounds in his foster home. He isn't pushy or bossy in play so would probably be fine to live with a more dominant dog. He passed his small dog test with no interest at all in a pug and seems like a really low prey drive guy because he didn't even pay any attention to some chickens that he rode up with. He is just a bit timid but only with some new things but seems like the type that will warm up fast and be a playful silly guy with a lot of personality. He playbows to his foster parents trying to get them to play with him. He enjoys running and playing outside. He does need some work with walking on leash because he will freeze sometimes if something scares him. With exposure to lots of new things by a confident owner, Larry is going to gain confidence quickly. Larry is on medical hold for heartworm treatment and is expected to be cleared for adoption around Oct 10th. |

Henry is a white male with brindle spots. He is very friendly and would play with his trainers at the track if he spots someone that he even thinks might be interested in petting him his tail starts wagging and he tries to make his way over to see them. He also passed his cat test with no interest and hasshown no interest in chasing cats or small dogs he has seen on walks in the neighborhood so he seems like he would do really good in a home that has small furries. He raced at  73lbs so is a mid sized guy. He will celebrate his 3rd birthday on Oct 20 and he hopes to celebrate it with his new family. His sire is the very famous Kiowa Sweet Trey and his dam is VV Here We Go. He raced 69 races and started out at Bluffs Run at Council Bluffs IA, from there he went to Sarasota FL and then on to Sanford Orlando Track where he retired. So far he has done great at his foster home. He has had no accidents in the house and going potty on leash very nicely since his foster home doesn't have a fenced yard. He seems to pick up on things quickly and has already picked up on walking nicely on leash after pulling pretty hard to begin with. He is a very loving guy that his foster home is really enjoying. He may do OK as an apartment or townhouse dog since he does potty on leash and so far has been quiet when left at the townhouse he is fostered in. |

Serena is a mostly white female with black spots. Her trainers at the track say she is a really nice dog that follows them around. She is young and just turned 2 on July 29th. She only raced 15 races all at the Sanford Orlando Race Track in Florida. She raced at 61lbs. Her sire is Kelsos Fusileer and her dam is DS Katie. So far Serena is doing great in foster care and is very calm and well behaved. She walks nicely on leash. |

Messy is a red fawn, puppy girl that came to us directly from the farm. She weighs about 55lbs. Her sire is the very famous Kiowa Sweet Trey and her dam is CTW Folklore. She celebrated her first birthday on 4-1-13. Messy is not going to be trained to race because she had a broken upper back leg that effects her stride a bit. We had it X-rayed and it is totally healed and she loves to run and play and the injury doesn't seem to cause her any pain and doesn't slow her down much. Messy is very calm and well behaved for a greyhound puppy. She is sweet, friendly and loving. Her foster home recently took her on a beach vacation with them and she was very good at the hotel and enjoyed traveling and interacting with all the strangers she met. Nothing seems to phase her or get her stressed out. She takes everything in stride. She loves hugs and kisses and is crate trained. She has some puppy energy but is not bad and she has become one of their favorite fosters. She loves to snuggle on the couch with her foster family and the other dogs. Getting a greyhound this young is a rare opportunity. Messy did pass her cat and small dog test and has been good with the children she has met so she should be a great family dog. |

Kerry is a mostly white girl with a few brindle spots. She is a tiny girl that raced at just 55lbs. She had a pretty long race career, racing 104 races all in Florida. She started out at Derby Lane and from there went to Palm Beach and then to Sanford Orlando Race Track. Her birthday is 3/7/10. She is very unique because she had the tip of her nose bit off by another dog when she was a puppy. Most of the black part of her nose is gone which gives her a little bit of a piggy look but she is still beautiful. Because she was different, she got lots of attention at the race track. Everyone stopped to see her and pet her and she expects that and loves to have people pay her attention. She is very friendly and loving. Her sire is the famous Kiowa Mon Manny and her dam is Tailteann Slippy. Kerry potties well on leash and travels well. She has whined a bit in her crate so may not be a good apartment dog. She did pass her cat and small dog test so should be fine to live with either. |

Mud is just retiring after a successful racing career. He raced a lot longer than most until he was 5 years old. He just celebrated his 5th birthday on August 23rd. He is quite the traveler racing at Bluffs Run and Dubuque in IA, and Southland and Sarasota in Florida. He just came to us from the Orlando Race track. Mud's sire is the very famous Flying Penske and his dam is Charity Day. He passed his cat test at the track with no interest in cats at first then only a little interest even when the cat ran. On walks outside when he sees cats in the neighborhood he doesn't even pay attention to them so seems to be a very low prey drive guy that should be OK to live with cats and small dogs. He is a mid sized guy that raced at 70lbs. He is a very calm guy that traveled well on the trip over from the track. His trainer says he is a friendly, well behaved guy that never caused any trouble. He is doing great as a foster in an apartment. He potties well on leash and is very quiet in his kennel so should be a good apartment or townhome dog and would be a good dog for a home without a fence yard. He is a dream to walk on leash and never pulls. He does stairs like a champ and has liked kids he has met. He did well at his first outing at PetSmart and was calmly friendly to people he met. He hasn't had a single accident in his foster home and hasn't even tried to mark. This is good boy that should be an easy addition to just about any household. |

Ernie is a larger male that raced at 79lbs at Orange Park in Jacksonville FL. He only has 22 races listed and has been retired for several years now and in a home. We were asked to take him because his former owner had to move into an apartment that wouldn't take dogs due to a divorce. Ernie has good house manners and is good with cats, small dogs and children. He is a very sweet, friendly boy that likes to play with other dogs. He is very calm and well behaved. His sire is Super Lee and his dam is Pak Seminole Win. Ernie turned 6 on March 31st. He traveled well on the trip into foster care and seems like a wonderful guy. Be sure to check out his other photos- these were collected by Ernie's trainer at the track so are from when he was still racing. The one on this page is the only one we have of him that is recent. |

Angie is a beautiful black girl with white chest that we call a tuxedo. She turned 6 on July 14th. She doesn't have any races listed but her racing weight is listed as 61lbs. Her sire is the very famous Flying Penske and her dam is Kiowa Delicate. Angie likes everyone and is very sweet and calm. A very laid back girl that has lived with cats and small dogs. Angie has been living in a home with children and does well with them too. She should do well in just about any situation, just a great girl. She was returned to us with Robbie from the home they have been living in since they retired through no fault of the dog's. Angela has had a few seizures and is on a daily medication for them but they are well controlled at this point, she also takes daily inexpensive thyroid meds. Angie's favorite thing is a soft, comfy dog bed where she can sleep the day away and love from her family when she wakes up. We have Angie and Robbie in separate foster homes and they are doing fine apart so we will adopt them out separately. |

Robbie is being returned to us with Angela from an adoptive home that has had them for 4 years. Not the dog's fault at all but the owners can't keep them. Robbie turned 8 years old on April 29th and is small for a guy and raced at just 67lbs. His sire is PA's Mumbles and his dam is PA's Ronzilla. He raced just 21 races at Lincoln Park before he retired. Robbie's owners said that he is cat friendly and is also good with small dogs. He is just a little shy at first with new people but quickly warms up. After just a couple of days with his foster mom he was seeking out petting and would calmly lean against her for affection. While he likes affection he does spend a good part of the day napping so isn't needy or demanding. He has lived in a home with kids and did well with them. He loves to go for walks and will walk over, look at his leash and whine to remind you it is time for a walk. He responds quickly to "No" though and goes and lays down if no walk is scheduled. He is doing great in his foster home and has had no potty accidents. He has great house manners and has settled in like he was always there. He has crated well and is in this foster home by himself so seems like he would be fine as an only dog. His foster home says he is very calm and easy going and already is a nearly perfect pre-trained pet. This is a sweet guy! |

Tazzy is a very young, red female that won't turn 2 until October 9th. Her sire is Flupascrackerbox and her dam is Bills Are Due. She just arrived from the Orange Park Race Track in Jacksonville Fl. She only has 6 maiden races listed and didn't placed in any of them. She is a small girl that raced at 57lbs. She passed her cat test with only a little interest at first but she quickly lost interest in the cats once she sniffed them and realized what they were. Her track trainer said she was a little shy when she first arrived there but that she warmed up fast and within a couple of weeks she was friendly and happy. She is a curious girl and seems to like people and always comes when called. She can be just a bit cautious with new people but did well at her first meet and greet and did approach strangers for love. She travels well and laid down calmly most of the trip. Tazzy complains about being in her crate sometimes so probably is going to to be a little too loud to be an apartment dog. We have discovered that she is pretty quiet as long as another dog is kenneled next to her and is normally only loud when she is kenneled by herself. She has learned to kennel quietly all night by herself though. She does potty on leash very quickly so should do fine in a home without a fenced yard. This is a sweet loving girl that may be just a little shy at first but will warm up fast! |

Emo is a beautiful light fawn with some gray brindle stripes and golden eyes. She is a larger female racing at 69lbs. She is 2.5 and won't celebrate her 3rd birthday until Nov 25th. Her sire is DK's Prime Time and her dam is a sweet girl we have actually met named T Dazzle. Emo was raised on a farm with a lake so she enjoys swimming and playing in water. She is very friendly and happy. She did pass her cat test at the track and seems like she will be good with small dogs as well. She only has 15 races to her credit at Derby Lane and won 2 of those. Although we just got her she has actually been retired since November of 2012. Check her other photos for pictures of what she has been doing while waiting on the farm. |

Patch or Peaches as we have been calling her is a mostly white girl with some red spots on her face and ears. She has 59 races to her credit, briefly racing at Palm Beach but spending most of her time at Sanford Orlando. Peaches raced at 63lbs and her sire is Djays Octane and her dam is Whytell Bali. She passed her cat test at the track but has been a little too interested in chasing cats for us to think she will be OK to live with them since she arrived. She also has mistaken small dogs she has seen on walks for bunnies and seems too interested in them to us to be considered safe. She is doing great with several kids in her foster home so would be excellent for a home with children. Peaches is very friendly and loving and loves to be with her people so much that she just goes outside briefly to do her business and comes right back in to be with her people. She complains sometimes when in her crate so probably wouldn't be a good apartment dog. Peaches is a gorgeous, sweet, happy girl! She is young so is fun and playful and higher energy than most of the older dogs. What a cute girl!! |

Dream just arrived from Orange Park race track in Jacksonville FL. According to her race record she only raced there once and was moved there after racing at Derby Lane and Daytona Beach in FL. She only raced 31 races and won 3 of those and placed some. Her sire is Tyrur Alex and her dam is Peltys Dream. She turned 2 on Feb 12th and raced at 60lbs. She is described as a sweet, friendly, happy girl that gives kisses and loves everyone she meets. She passed her cat and small dog tests with no interest at all even in a kitten. She is living with a small child at her foster homes and seems to like kids. This is a sweet girl that seems like she would be good in just about any situation. |

Dream was originally placed by another adoption group and was returned to us after being in a home for some time so she is already home acclimated. Dream lived with children in her previous home and was very good with them. She also lived with cats and small dogs so would be excellent in a home with them too. She is in a foster home with a couple young dogs of other breeds and loves to play with them and seems to get along well with other dogs of all types. She is a very friendly girl and loves kids. At meet and greets she is absolutely the star of the show greeting each person. She is very much the snuggler. If you sit on the floor she will lay in your lap. If you are looking for a true companion that will adore you Dream is the girl. Dream loves to play with toys too so is a fun girl. She can be vocal sometimes so would probably not be a good apartment dog. She is a smaller girl that raced at 59lbs. Her sire is Impossible Dream and her birthday is April 13th. Dream does have some separation anxiety but seems to do well if she is in home with other dogs. A home with other dogs is something that is required for her. |

Hyatt is a small red male that raced at 69lbs. He just turned 4 on May 1st. He is quite the traveler racing at Gulf, Sarasota, Ebro and Dubuque. He has 91 races listed. His sire is Gable Oscar and his dam is Lil Cash Advance. He has done well with the toddler in his foster home and the small dog next door. He needs some work on his leash skills but is getting better already. He has been a little loud in his crate so may not be a good dog for an apartment. He is doing well settling in to his foster home and turned into a favorite foster very fast. Hyatt is a friendly guy that likes adults and children. He is SO cute with all that eyeliner and those eyebrows! Hyatt would be a wonderful dog for someone that would like to compete in obedience or agility. He does a natural flip finish when you say his name! He wants to please and seems like he is willing to work and do just about anything for attention. He has a higher energy level for a greyhound and that is important for a dog that you want to do training with. He is a fun guy that would also be a good hiking or jogging partner. He is very loving and wants to be a big lap dog. He is all about getting attention and love. |

Tabor is a 78lb brindle male that is full of personality. When he is excited and happy to see someone he does a huge grin - it is something that few greyhounds do. Be sure to look at his other pictures to see a picture of it. We all love the grinners! Although it looks a little scary to people that aren't familiar with greyhounds it is a submissive, happy, friendly gesture that a few special greyhounds do when they are very happy and it is a true smile. Tabor really has an exceptional personality and will be a fun dog for a lucky family. Tabor just celebrated his 4th birthday on July 15th. His sire is Brady Thomas and his dam is Solwest. He raced at Southland in Arkansas but most of his 132 races were at Derby Lane in FL. Tabor was a very good racer even competing in Stakes races. Tabor did not pass his cat test so needs a home without cats. He has done fine with the small dogs in his foster home though. He is a VERY friendly, loving, goofy guy that is very happy and friendly and loves people!! Such a cute brindle boy!! |

Blade is an extra large male that raced at 87lbs and weighed in at 99lbs at the vets when he was returned to us. We usually try to keep greyhounds within 5lbs of their racing weight so he has been on a diet but is an extra large greyhound. Blade's sire is the famous Flying Hydrogen who is owned by one of our volunteers. His dam is Slatex Alice. Blade retired from the Sanford Orlando Race Track in Nov of 2012 and raced before that at Gulf and Bluffs Run tracks so is a bit of a traveler. He has 49 races listed but looks like he was just too big to be a successful racer because it doesn't look like he won even one race. He did place in some though. Blade has been living in a home since he retired and has very good house manners. He does have a very high prey drive so needs a home without cats and small dogs. He just mistakes small furry critters for bunnies and wants to chase them. Blade seems like a calm, confident guy that adapts well to where ever he is. He is an easy going, calm guy and is very good on leash in spite of his extra large size. He potties on leash and is quiet in his crate so may do well as an apartment dog. Blade is protective of his space when laying down. Even though he has lived with kids before, we would prefer not to place him with young kids because of that. Blade can be very protective in his own home and will bark and growl at strangers. Outside his home he is a friendly, happy, sweet dog that loves everyone he meets and seeks out attention from complete strangers and happily allowed the vet and her staff to handle him. |

Dundee just arrived from the Orange Park track in Jacksonville. His sire is Kiowa Mon Manny and his dam is AMF Toyota Turbo. He raced at 77lbs and turned 3 on May 10th. Dundee has quite the story! He was an excellent racer that competed at the top level of racing there and even competed in special big money stakes races! His luck wasn't all good though, while laying next to the fence outside he got bit by a cottonmouth snake on his upper back leg. It caused him to lose most of the skin on the back of his leg. They weren't sure he could be saved because it was pretty bad by the time they noticed the snake bite. Dundee lived at the vet's for a long time and he surprised everyone by surviving. His last race was at the end of April and that was about the time of the snake bite. He has been recooperating since. His leg has healed over but does have a bad scar on it now. It doesn't affect his running and the vet said he could have even gone back to racing. His racing owner wouldn't hear of it and wanted to retire him because he had been lucky enough to survive. While we were in Florida to pick up dogs everyone at the track from the vet to trainers to adoption people were talking about their miracle dog Dundee. Everyone said he was the sweetest greyhound they had ever met and that he really had a special personality. We met him and agreed - he really was a happy, outgoing, guy with such a special personality so we asked if our group could take him. Dundee is very cat tolerant. He had been moved to the track adoption kennel and went into one of their foster homes. Their cat cornered him and he was so scared he wouldn't go near the cat again. He also has been around lots of kids in the adoption kennel and they said he really loves kids and follows them around. Most of the trip up he had his head resting on us trying to snuggle. Dundee is a super, sweet, loving, happy guy! |

Voyager is a littermate to Tazzy and looks just like her. They have been together since they were born and even raced briefly at the same kennel. The girls won't be 2 until October 9th so are very young girls. We have them living apart now in separate foster homes and they are doing fine so we will place them separately. Their sire is Flupascrackerbox and their dam is Bills Are Due. Voyager has 12 races listed but only won one of them. She is a small girl that raced at 58lbs. Voyager is a sweet girl but is the more timid of the two girls. She did give us kisses on the trip back from the track though so isn't really shy with people just more overwhelmed by all the new things around her. Her trainer said that when she first arrived at the kennel she was a little bit shy but after a couple of weeks she warmed up and she was friendly and happy. She had no interest in the cats she met at all and only gave them a passing sniff. Even a wiggly kitten didn't interest her. She walked pretty well on the leash too. Because she is so young Voyager is likely to still have a lot of puppy in her still and be more active than the older greyhounds. Most greyhounds tend to start acting very sedate sometime between 2 and 3. It is hard for us to judge her activity level because she just had her spay and isn't allowed to run and play for 10 days. She is also pretty overwhelmed by everything so may not get comfortable enough to show her true personality for weeks. Voyager is being fostered in a home with a cat and has done well with it. She potties well on leash so would do well without a fenced yard. She is being fostered in a townhouse so may be a good choice for an apartment or townhouse owner. |

Morton is a very tiny, red brindle male that raced at just 62lbs. He was an excellent racer that raced for several years. Morton turned 7 on May 15th. He loves to give gentle hugs and kisses and has a lot of personality. He passed his cat and small dog test and has lived with small animals. Morton is tiny enough to crawl into your lap to snuggle and that is exactly where he wants to be. He loves to play with stuffed animals and will empty his toy box and hide all his toys in his crate. He potties well on leash walks and is very quiet and well behaved when left. He would be the perfect dog for apartment or townhouse living and has lived in an apartment. He is a calm, sweet guy but has a lot of personality and is a fun dog. Morton was in a home since 2010 but his owner just recently passed away so sadly he is looking for a new home now. These photos were taken when he was 4 years old so he has a little more white on his face now. New photos coming soon! One of our generous adopters has taken care of Morton's adoption fee! |

Ben came from a kennel closing at the Sanford Orlando Race Track. He is a small red male that raced at 68lbs. He is 2 years old and won't celebrate his 3rd birthday until Oct 9th. He has 32 races to his credit. A few at Gulf in Texas but most at Sanford Orlando. We also got his littermate I'm Sasha Fierce from the same kennel and petted her out quite awhile ago. His sire is the very famous Dodgem By Design and his dam is JT Hyper Jax. Ben is much too interested in chasing cats to be able to live with them and mistakes smaller dogs for bunnies too. He has done well with medium to large sized dogs that he has met though. You will want to look at his other photos to see photos of him as a tiny puppy that his racing owner took. So cute!! Another photo of him running and dragging the lead out at the track towards the box in a huge hurry to race. Ben LOVED racing! Ben is outgoing and very friendly. He is interested in checking everything out and seems very curious but calms down quickly and is a real couch potato at home. He is an easy going guy that takes everything in stride. He is smart and has picked up on leash walking fast and potties on leash. Ben has done great with the kids he has met and seems to really like them. He loves water and loves to cool off in a kiddie pool at his foster home. Ben had a unique upbringing and got a lot of socialization as a pup. His litter got parvo when they were tiny and spent a few weeks at a vet clinic being nursed back to health. He made a complete recovery and ended up being healthy enough to race. He is a very lucky boy. He is a friendly, confident, well adjusted boy that has been very good in his foster home and is one of her easiest fosters ever. Ben will need a home with another dog because he has shown that he can be stressed by being left totally alone and does better when people leave if he has another dog to be with. |

Jackie came from the Sanford Orlando Race track due to a kennel closing. She is a cute little black girl that raced at 60lbs. She will celebrate her 2nd birthday on June 10th. Her sire is the famous Dodgem By Design and her dam is Jasmine Breeze. She is a littermate to Dodge Jazz. Jackie passed her cat test at the track so should be OK to live with cats and small dogs. She is living in a foster home with small dogs now. She loves playing with stuffed animals but doesn't chase balls. She complains some about being left in a crate so may not be the best dog for an apartment. Jackie is very friendly with everyone she meets but in a gentle way without being overly excited. She did great at a recent meet and greet with all the people she met. She really worked the crowd and stole quite a few hearts. Very affectionate and loves being petted. She is great on leash and is a good eater. She is really good with her house manners and is totally comfortable with being in a home now. SHe doesn't counter surf or steal things. She has learned to sit and down on command. She is very good with other dogs. She would make a great pet for a first time greyhound owner or as an addition to home with several already. She does well in new situations too and doesn't seem to be phased by much. She will be an excellent dog to take out in public because she loves to work a crowd. |

Monty's owner asked us for assistance in finding a new home. They transferred from the UK about three years ago, and unfortunately the owner is being transferred again and can't take Monty this time. Monty raced only 36 races in the UK at Yarmouth, Romford and Hove and Brighton then was retired at age 2 due to a minor injury. His sire is Droopys Vieri and his dam is Oh So Wonderful. Monty has lived with two different small dogs in the past, he passed his cat test with no interest but has show some correctable interest in a couple of cats since so we listed him as trainable with cats. His owner tells us he is very low maintenance, very house trained, and always prefers to be inside with his humans whenever possible. We were told he could be a little shy at first with strangers but at our recent meet and greet he was trying to squeeze in to get love when people were petting other dogs. He seemed very friendly and social. He isn't a real needy guy though and is pretty comfortable just laying around. He isn't fond of thunderstorms or fireworks and lays under a table at his foster home when either is going on. He doesn't like being hugged or having his ears messed with so we have him listed as no small kids since it is hard to explain to small kids why that shouldn't be done. Monty made friends with everyone at the vet clinic during his dental and seems to be a very nice, well behaved boy. He seems like a very bright guy that quickly figured out how to work folding babygate - he just pushed it to the side and walked right though. He's ready to bless the next family with his unique story and sweet companionship! A couple of our members have made generous donations to cover Monty's adoption fee! |

Jana just arrived from the Orange Park Track in Jacksonville. She is a tiny red fawn female that raced at just 56lbs. She was a good racer that has 123 races to her credit. Her sire is the famous Kiowa Mon Manny and her dam is Kiowa Cruze Fast. She just turned 3 on April 2nd. Jana is a sweet friendly girl that gives kisses and will put a paw out to touch you to get attention if she is laying down. She passed her cat test and was only a little interested in the moving cat. She acted like she knew cats had claws and would back away from the cat and wouldn't get close to the cat. She lost interest quickly even in a tiny kitten and wandered off to look at other things. She is a kennel favorite and they admitted that she was a little spoiled. She liked to be fed first and would bark at them while they were preparing food to remind them to feed her. She is very food motivated and loves to eat. They said she was quiet the rest of the time in the kennel but she is probably too vocal to be an apartment or townhouse dog. |

Fireball just arrived from the Orange Park Race Track in Jacksonville Fl. He was a very good racer with 196 races to his credit and some of those were stakes races! His sire is the very famous Kiowa Sweet Trey and his dam is Greys Rubberneck. He turned 4 on Jan 21st. He raced at 72lbs so is a mid sized male. He is friendly and seems pretty calm and laid back. He stood up looking out the window most of the trip up from Florida. He has settled nicely into his foster home and crates quietly. More as we get to know him. |

Buck is a calm but friendly guy. He is a very well behaved, tall, handsome guy with lots of dark eyeliner around his expressive eyes. He raced at a thin 80lbs and weighs closer to 85 now. Buck was returned by his adoptive family because they had a baby. Buck hasn't had much experience with kids and his one quirk is that he is very uncomfortable with kids. He has always backed away from them and tries to avoid them so they felt he would be very uncomfortable and unhappy in a home with a baby. So Buck is looking for a new home with no small kids. Buck turned 7 on March 20th. We originally got him from Jefferson County Kennel Club in Florida when he was younger and he has been in a home since then. He only has 12 races listed. His sire is Stan's Boy Flyer and dam is PA's Trudi. Buck is a calmly friendly guy with adults but he really does tend to shy away from kids at meet and greets. Anyone younger than a teenager makes him nervous. He isn't a nervous dog at all otherwise - just the opposite. At meet and greets he loves people that come by and will even will put a paw up and paw at them for attention. Buck likes to run and play and will play fetch with a ball. He also loves playing with stuffed toys. He is good on leash and loves to go for walks or hikes. He likes to go for rides too. Buck crates quietly and potties on a leash so he would probably be very good in an apartment or townhouse or in a home without a fenced yard. He passed his cat and small dog tests and has lived in a home with cats before so would be great for a home with small animals. Buck has great house manners and never has accidents in his foster home. He has lived as an only dog for years so might be a good dog for someone that only wants one dog. |

Cat retired from Sanford Orlando Kennel after racing at Palm Beach and Derby Lane. She raced 124 races in her career. She raced at 65lbs and is a blue fawn. That is an unusual fawn with grey on dark areas instead of the black that most fawns have. It gives her a unique dusty red look. Cat turns 4 on June 16th. Her sire is from Ireland- Swahili Eile. Her dam is Red Hot Victory. Cat didn't pass her cat test so needs a home without kitties. She did do good with the Jack Russell next door even when he was barking and yelping at her but has mistaken really small dogs for squirrels so would need a home without very tiny dogs. She potties well on leash and is very quiet in her crate so might make a good apartment dog. She seems like a very gentle, sweet, calm girl. She has done great with her foster home's grandchildren so should be OK to live in a home with kids. She walks well on leash and travels well. Her foster home says she is nearly perfect and a very easy girl that would be great for a first time foster or adoptive home. She is just gorgeous with her beautiful coloring and cute little ears that stand straight up when she is curious about something. |

Isabelle just arrived and was returned to us with Caleb after being in an adoptive home for 2 years together. They were returned due to allergies of one of the family members to them and not through anything they did wrong. Both are well behaved and sweet dogs that have excellent house manners. They don't seem especially dependent on each other so we will place them separately. Isabelle is mostly red with just a little brindle striping and a beautiful white chest. She raced at 64lbs and won't turn 6 until October 1st. Her sire is the very famous Kiowa Sweet Trey and she looks a lot like her famous dad. Her dam is M's Krazy Korner. She has been great with small dogs she has met amd hasn't paid any attention to the cats she has seen at PetSmart either so we think should would be fine in a home with either. She has lived with kids in her previous home and has done well with them so should be a great choice for a home with kids. Issy is confident and friendly at home but seemed just a little stressed at her first meet and greet. She didn't seek people out as much as she does at home but did enjoy being petted. Issy is playful and loves running in the yard and playing with stuffies. She has gotten along very well with the other greys in her foster home. She does potty well on leash so would do well in a home that doesn't have a fenced yard. |

Chumley is another of the litter that retired out of race training and didn't make it to the race track. Chumley just celebrated his 2nd birthday on May 26th and is a little guy that weighed only 67lbs. His sire is Dave the Dog, And his dam is Topaz Lass. His foster parents actually own one of his mom's littermates! Chumley has been pretty friendly and outgoing since he arrived. He wants to get up in the front to be with people during transport to the vet and doesn't shy away from people at all like some of his brothers. He is definitely one of the more confident ones in the litter and went right up to children for petting on a recent walk in the neighborhood. He mastered a flight of steps right away and he seems to be able to deal with new things. Chumley is living in a foster home with small dogs and cats and has been absolutely fine with them. He even did well with a hyper puppy that was nipping at him. He is a very sweet loving guy. Althought the rest of his litter were heartworm positive and are on hold for treatment Chumley was heartworm negative and is ready for a new home. Be sure to look at his cute floppy ears in his other photos. |

Carter is a young white male with black spots. He never actually raced. He and the rest of his litter ended up being retired straight out of race training at the same time and we ended up taking all 4 of them. Carter is a very shy and seems like he hasn't been handled a lot. He will come up to people cautiously but needs work on walking on leash and building his confidence in new situations. He freezes on leash when scared. His sire is Dave the Dog and his Dam is Topaz Lass. Dave seems to throw some genetically shy dogs and we have placed quite a few of his pups. All of the dogs we have placed have become wonderful pets though that are very loving with their families. They just need some time to get comfortable. Carter is a small guy around 65lbs. He did pass his cat and small dog tests. He will cautiously come up to his foster mom for love sometimes and bounce and play bow to get her to play then at other times he is nervous and timid around her and won't take treats. He is probably the most timid guy in the litter. He really is uncomfortable on leash right now and new things like the ceiling fan scare him. He will warm up with exposure and some patience. Be sure to look at his other pictures to see some of him as a tiny baby. Carter is on medical hold for heartworm treatment that will last about 2 months. He is expected to be cleared for adoption around Sept 10th. Carter was adopted by the vet that fostered him during his heartworm treatment. |

Squeaky is a tiny, dark brindle female that just arrived from the Sanford Orlando track. She was in training to race there but didn't show much promise as a racer so never actually ended up having an official race. She is very young and doesn't even turn 2 until August 31st. We don't have an official racing weight for her but she is very small in the 50s range. She is very short but pretty stocky and muscular and can just walk right under taller girls or boys. She was a little overwhelmed when she first arrived but was really friendly and happy after just a few minutes. She is submissive and politely laid down when we opened her crate door to feed her. She didn't try to take the food until the door was closed. She needs some work walking on leash because she goes back and forth between pulling toward things she wants to see and shying away from things she thinks are scary, just like a pup. She is a cute, little, waggy girl most of the time though and did ride well on the trip up from the track. She is short so puts her feet up on other dogs and things in her environment to get a better view. She has been a little noisy in her kennel but does correct and quiet very well. Her sire is Gable Wyatt and her dam is Gable Burma. Because she is a little shy we think loud, small children might be scary for her. We think she would probably do better in a home with quiet kids or older kids. |

Avery is a white girl with big black spots. Her racing weight was 58lbs. She raced at quite a few tracks - Wheeling in WV, Southland in Arkansas and finally Derby Lane in St Petersburg Fl. She has 49 races listed. She turned 3 on December 13th. Avery's sire is the famous Lonesome Cry and her dam is Odd Garbo. She paid no attention to a little dog she met so should be fine to live with small dogs. She also passed her cat test so should be OK in a home with cats. Avery seems very social and likes people and other dogs. She has done very well in her foster home and is very sweet and friendly to everyone she meets. She is a higher energy girl that loves to play. Even though she likes kids and has been fine with the ones she has met we think she might be too playful and rough for a small child and knock them down. She would be great for a family that wants an energetic dog to do things with like long walks, hikes or other activities. |

Sage is a very tall leggy girl that was the tallest dog on this dog haul, even taller than the boys. She raced at 71lbs. She is 3 and won't celebrate her 4th birthday until December 1st. Her sire is the famous English racer Balligari and her dam is Elysium. We adopted out her her littermate Happy Stutz who has been a sweet, nearly perfect guy. So far she seems just as sweet as her brother. She has a beautiful bright red coat and a white chest and some white toes. She has ears that go straight up sometimes just like her mom's. She has 78 races to her credit racing at Wheeling in WV, and Palm Beach and Sanford Orlando in Fl most recently. She had a minor injury in April and was rehabbed at the track by her trainer before they sent her to us. She is not limping and we can't tell that she even had an injury now. She seems like a calm, friendly girl. She traveled well on the way up from the track and quietly settled into her crate when she arrived. So far she has been well behaved and quiet in her crate. She is playful and loves to play with toys. She really wants to please so the smallest correction works to stop any mistake. She passed her small dog test with a boston terrier but she is definitely not going to be cat safe. She was very excited about the cat she met and even a smack by kitty claws didn't make her back off. |

Katie is a very tiny, shy, black female with white toes and chest. Katie was so shy she couldn't race due to her fear of strangers. Her sire is Rhythmless and her dam is Ucme Instantly. Her birthday is September 2nd and she is 2 years old. After meeting Katie she appears to have not been socialized with humans as a puppy so is very fearful like a wild animal would be. She does not approach her foster mom yet and circles around warily still. She seems a little curious when she has food but will not take food from her but will eat it if her foster mom puts it down near her. We have placed several other unsocialized greyhounds that ended up making wonderful pets. They do take months if not a year to warm up to their new family. They do need a family that will be very patient with them. Most of the time they don't get comfortable with strangers or going out to new places and are homebodies that are happier just staying in their own familiar environment. They are normally not just fearful of people but of anything new and any change in their routine. Katie will need a home with a securely fenced yard since she is far too nervous to potty on leash outside of a fenced area. Dogs like Katie typically are too nervous to be around loud, fast moving small children so we automatically put them down as needing a home with older children only or no children. Katie will need a lot of time to learn to trust and love people but families that have worked with this type of dog say that it is so rewarding when they finally do come around. Katie is adapting to home life well and has picked out a favorite bed in the house. She has had no accidents in the house and follows the other dogs outside and back in so her foster mom hasn't had problems catching her. She gets along great with the dogs and cats in her foster home and is not shy with other dogs - just people. |

Blast Off is a small white female with red spots that raced at just 54lbs. She turned 2 on December 13th. Her sire is the famous Kiowa Mon Manny and her Dam is WWW Jimbo Betty. She retired from the Sanford Orlando Race Track and also raced at Palm Beach in Florida. She had a total of 41 races and won 6 of those. She passed her cat test at the track and is living in a foster home with cats and small dogs and does very good with them. Blast Off is a very happy, outgoing, waggy girl. Her foster mom nicknamed her "Happy". She loves everyone and doesn't seem to know a stranger. She is bouncy and excited at first when meeting new people and is very curious about anything new. Happy seems like she is a higher energy girl but does calm down. We have had mixed results getting her to go potty on leash well so she will probably will need a home with a fenced yard. She is very quiet in her crate. She isn't bothered by anything, even the bad thunderstorms we have had recently haven't fazed her. Very sweet girl wiith a lot of personality and so pretty. Her foster home says she is a great girl and they have really enjoyed having her there. |

Beth is a gorgeous light fawn female that raced at 60lbs. She just celebrated her 4th birthday on May 15th. Her sire is Kiowa Mon Manny and her dam is Bow Okie Barb. She was a pretty good racer getting up to A level at Southland in Arkansas then racing at Derby Lane in Florida. She has 75 races listed. She is friendly and sweet and paid no attention to a small dog she met. She passed her cat test with a little interest but she was correctible so with some supervision she should be trainable with cats. She loves lounging in a baby pool on hot days. She just arrived, more as we get to know her. Beth is doing great in her foster home. She is well behaved and is a very nice girl. |

Fin is a red fawn male that raced at the Sanford Orlando track. He only has one race listed at the Mardi Gras Track where he came in last. He was moved to Orlando for more schooling but just didn't seem to be competitive so was retired young. Fin passed his cat test so should be OK to live with cats and small dogs. He is a larger guy that raced at 77lbs. He is young and turned 2 March 11th. His sire is the famous Greys Statesman and his dam is Fuzzys Autumn. He is good with kids and did fine as an only dog in his previous home but really likes other dogs and is good with them. He is very loving and sweet. He has good house manners already and has lived in a home since January but was returned to us because of a divorce. He should be an easy addition to just about any home. |

George just arrived from a kennel closing at the Sanford Orlando Race Track. George is a small guy that raced at 68lbs. His sire is Tonys Oracle and his dam is Country Ginger. He is a littermate to Boy that is also available and arrived with him. George is a young guy that won't be 2 until September 3rd. He only has 7 races to his credit but did win one of those. George is currently being boarded at our vets and is looking for a foster home. If you are interested please contact us. George was a little stressed when he first arrived and didn't want to eat but is over that now. He is a little more timid with new things than his brother Boy and is still having some trouble learning the steps. New things like that can be pretty scary. He is very friendly with people though and will bounce happily when new people come up to see him. He passed his cat test by calmly sniffing the cats at the vet clinic and like his brother was more interested in sniffing around the clinic than in the cats. He also has met some small dogs at the clinic that he has shown no interest in other than a casual sniff so should be OK to go to a home with cats or small dogs. He is living with a male pitbull in his current foster home and they get along great. |

Zane is a beautiiful black male with white feet, chest, blaze and a white tip in his tail. He is a small guy racing at just 67lbs. He turned 2 on March 3rd. His sire is Pat C Clement and his dam is Brett's Raceyone. He is a calm boy and travelled well on the trip up from the track. He passed his small dog test and showed no interest in them so should be fine in a home with smaller dogs. He paid no attention to the cats he met at PetSmart so should be fine with them as well. He is a friendly guy that did great at his first PetSmart meet and greet with all the people he met adults and children. So far he has been very good in his foster home. He has made some noise in his crate when left alone so probably will not be a good apartment dog. He seemed stressed when left alone with no other dogs nearby so may do better in a home with other dogs to hang out with. |
