Lefty is a 61lb red fawn girl that raced at Orange Park in Jacksonville Florida and Sanford Orlando. She was a pretty good racer getting up to A level but broke her leg in her last race and was retired. She had surgery done on her leg on October 2nd and stayed at the track in Orlando for a month until the vet cleared her for travel. She arrived with our adoption group Nov 1st. Lefty was in a splint for some time after she arrived. She is out of the splint now and is doing very well so the vet has released her for adoption! Lefty's sire is Count Ivan and her dam is SE's We Goin Too. She turned 3 on December 18th. Lefty is a very sweet affectionate girl. She passed her cat and small dog test so should be fine to live with either. She has been around a toddler and seems to like kids too. She is a playful silly girl that we think would make an excellent family dog. She can be vocal when excited so we don't think she would make a good apartment or townhouse dog. If you are able to help us out with Lefty's expensive surgical repair please go to our Injured Athlete Page. Your generosity allows us to take more injured dogs and get them fixed. |

Neville is a tiny black boy with a white chest and toes that raced at just 64lbs. In that tiny body is a lot of personality and a super star racer! He came from the Birmingham Race Track where he consistantly was a winner at the top A level and was quite the racing celebrity. He also raced some of his 171 races at Tri State in WV. He won 45 of those races! And he placed in most of the others! He even won 6 "A" races in a row against all the top racers at that track! Neville retired in June and has been at the track since, waiting to be adopted. Neville just turned 4 on Nov 12th. He has had mixed results with cats, when he first meets new cats he is way too excited but after being around them for awhile he looses interest and is fine with some cats. We had him listed as trainable with cats but changed it to no cats because he varies so much from cat to cat and test to test. Neville did pass his test with small dogs. He is being fostered in a home with small dogs so he is used to being around them. His sire is Igoby Brady and his dam is WWG Torriewilson. Neville is a bouncy, happy boy that is friendly and fun. His foster home says that he is one of the happiest fosters they have had. He is full of personality and is a very funny, goofy guy. Everything makes him happy and he even drinks water with his tail wagging. He seems like he is a little higher energy than the typical very lazy couch potato greyhounds. He loves to play with toys and seems like he will be an excellent family dog. He is excellent with company and meeting new people makes him very happy. He does great out in public and loves going places and exploring his environment. He is a very curious, sweet boy that will do well in just about any situation. He doesn't seem to be worried about much of anything. |

Jimmy is a handsome black male that raced at 75lbs. He just retired from the Birmingham Race Track due to playing with other dogs during the race instead of concentrating on what he was supposed to do. He raced 46 races. He will turn 3 on March 29th. His sire is Kiowa WW Brother and his dam is Doctor Elliott. Jimmy did not pass his cat test because he was much too interested in playing with them, but did easily pass his small dog test. He is living with a couple of small dogs in his foster home and does great with them. Jimmy is a sweet, friendly guy that is doing great in foster care. He has the cutest little head tilt when he is listening to something. This handsome boy loves people and is going to make a great pet! |

Harmon is a red male that is a big traveler racing at 5 different tracks - Abiline KS, Bluffs Run and Dubuque in IA, then on to Palm Beach and Sanford Orlando tracks in Florida. He had 51 races to his credit and raced at 71lbs so is a medium sized male. His sire is Iceman Brutus and his dam is Rocking Jade. He just turned 3 on March 19th. Harmon rode well on the trip and didn't seem to be phased at all by traveling. He hops into the van on his own and doesn't need a boost. He settled nicely in his crate the first night and didn't make a peep. He also potties well on leash so doesn't require a fenced yard and may be a good choice for apartment living. Harmon is very friendly and happy and is a real leaner going up to strangers and wrapping himself around them for love. He needs some work on walking on leash because he is excited to check everything out and can't decide where to go first so ends up doing a lot of zig zagging but settles down after a little ways and walks beside you. He is smart and learns quickly. Harmon did great at his first meet and greet at a hockey game. He loved all the people he met adults and kids. The noises and crowd didn't phase him. He had a great time! He met some small dogs outside that were barking and running and he didn't pay any attention to them at all so appears to be very small dog tolerant. He has been living in a foster home with cats and a ferret and is great with both. This is a very sweet loving guy! |

Zenith just arrived from the Birmingham Track Adoption Kennel. She raced 74 races at 58lbs. She got up to A level at that track and also raced at Palm Beach in Florida. In her last race in July she pulled up and didn't finish the race due to a minor injury. She recovered and was adopted to a family in Birmingham. They couldn't keep her so returned her a few months later to the track adoption center and we picked her up not long after she arrived. She just turned 3 on October 12th. Her sire is Soprano Drive and her dam is Kiowa Surfingirl. She has the same mom as CRT Lenny, one of our other available dogs! Zenith has an unusual dark chocolate brown color between her black brindle stripes. She also has a cute white blaze on her nose and white on her chest and toes. A really cute girl with a very sweet personality. She loves to get the other dogs in her foster home to chase her and is very friendly with people. Her foster home describes her as the happiest greyhound they have ever met. |

I Run To You is a 75lb brindle male that is coming to us from the Melbourne Adoption kennel but he actually raced at Tri-State in WV and most recently at Sanford Orlando in FL. He raced 44 races but only won 3 of those. He got a lot of 2nds though. Since he wasn't really good his racing career was short. He will turn 3 on April 25th. His sire is Iruska All Star and his dam is Iruska Promise. He passed his cat and small dog tests at the track so should be fine to live with either. He is described as pretty calm dog but not a total couch potato. Generally good on leash and pretty friendly. Approaching people for affection and love but in a calm way. More as we get to know him. Bernie is a cute brindle girl that turned 2 on May 24th. She is coming in from the Palm Beach track where she raced 25 races. She never won any of her races but did place in some of them. Her racing owner is one of our volunteers! She has quite a few greyhound pets already so is unable to keep Bernie as a pet. She has asked us to help find her a great adoptive home. Bernie raced at 66lbs. Her sire is from Ireland named Jim Joes Up and her dam is Bolo Whisper. More as we get to know her. |

Ashley is an older girl that is being returned because her owner is having a baby and moving. She has been with her family since 2010. Ashley is a brindle girl that is around 60lbs. She will turn 10 August 18th. Her sire is Matt's Comet and her dam is RJ Blown Away. She has 10 races listed starting out at Southland in Arkansas in schooling in 2007 but was quickly moved to Florida for the rest of her races. She didn't show much promise so was quickly retired. Ashley is a very shy girl that is likely to be pretty overwhelmed by losing her family and having to move to a new location and adjust to a new family. She will be checked over by our vet to be sure she is healthy when she comes in and will have a full dental and anything she needs. Because she is an older girl she will qualify for our reduced adoption fee of $200. Ashley did pass her cat and small dog test. She has not been around kids much but has done OK with the ones she has seen. Because she is a timid girl she would probably do better in a home with quiet kids rather than loud rowdy ones. More after we get her. This is a photo of her taken when she first arrived years ago. She has more white on her face now. Â |

Pro is a brindle male that raced at 76 lbs. He raced a lot of races in Birmingham, 206 in all, and was a very good racer. He raced at the top A level and won a lot of races. He broke his right hock in his last race on May 21st and has been at the track healing up since then. His leg looks very good and is long healed. It shouldn't affect his life as a pet and he is able to walk, run, play and even jump up on his back legs to give hugs with no problem. His sire is the famous Kiowa Mon Manny and his dam is Abita Bellaray. He turned 4 on November 11th. Pro did pass his cat test and small dog test with some initial excitement about both. He was very correctible and didn't want to get too close to the cat again after one slap. He is a bouncy, excitable boy and approaches everything new with excitement at first, then calms down, so we think he will be fine to live with both cats and small dogs with some supervision at first. Pro LOVES people and will bounce up happily to give people hugs (we are working on stopping that). He is very social and curious about everything new and seems like a higher energy fun greyhound. Pro has a lot of personality and confidence. Pro is going to be a very fun, playful boy for a lucky family. Be sure to click on his other pictures to see the cute happy expression that he wears most of the time. |

Poser just arrived from the Birmingham race track he also race briefly at Orange Park in Jacksonville Fl. He only raced 19 races and placed some but never won any of them. He is a pretty white male with black spots he is a mid sized guy racing at just 69lbs. Poser's sire is Djays Octane and his dam is WW Breeze Aimee. He just turned 2 on December 10th and still is pretty puppyish. He is very friendly and happy boy and still somewhat energetic for a greyhound due to being so young. Poser is curious about cats and small dogs but responds well to correction and did quickly lose interest, so we think he would be able to live with them with supervision at first. He did great with the kids he met at a home show too. We lost Poser too soon shortly after adoption due to a poisonous snake bite. He was loved by his family very much. |

Surfin is a small brindle male that raced at just 64lbs. He has the most beautiful shiny, dark red, brindle coat and cute ears that stand up all the time. He is very cute! He raced at Daytona Beach and then Birmingham AL. Most of his races were in Birmingham. He was pretty good getting up to the top A level of racing and being competitive enough to win at that level. He ran 113 races before quitting in the middle of his last race after being checked by another dog in June of 2014. His sire is Surf Lorian and his dam is JD She Hottie. Surfin turned 3 on August 10th. Surfin can be just a little timid at first in new situations but seems to love people and was happily wagging his tail at the vet clinic as soon as he got there. Surfin is a pretty calm guy but does enjoy running a lap or two in the backyard. He did pass his cat and small dog test so should be fine in a home with either. He seemed to like a 7 year old boy that he met so we think he would be good with kids that age or older. He hasn't been tested with very small kids yet. |

Dee is a red female that raced at 67lbs. She raced a 146 races. She traveled around, racing at Palm Beach, Sanford Orlando, Pensacola and finally retiring from Birmingham. Dee's sire is Yahoo Omar and her dam is KB's Gemstone. She turned 4 on October 13th. Dee passed her cat and small dog tests and is doing well in a foster home with both. She is a pretty red girl that is friendly and sweet. Her foster home says she is learning the house rules fast. She does a cute little greyhound grin when she is happy. She is a very calm, well behaved girl but seems like she is taking a little while to settled in because she whines and paces as if she is missing her track kennel. She has done the whining and pacing in a home with other dogs and in a home without other dogs so having other dogs and people around her doesn't seem to help. It will probably just take time for her to settle into a new routine and adjust to her new life. |

Beast is a very sweet, black boy that is arriving from the Birmingham Race track. We were told that he is actually more Teddy Bear than Beast. He is stunning with his white blaze, feet and chest on his shiny black coat. He only raced 8 races and didn't win any of them. His kennel is closing so he is being retired early. He raced at 73lbs and will turn 3 on April 19th. His sire is the famous Kiowa Mon Manny. His dam is BD's Regan. Beast passed his cat and small dog tests so should be fine to live in a home with either. He was picked as a quiet, well behaved guy that would do well being fostered in an apartment. So far he has been a little timid with all the changes and new things in his life but seems like he will be one that warms up fast. He seems to like people and seems like a very sweet laid back guy. |

Zoe is a stunning brindle with black stripes over an unusual chocolate brown and a dark face. She raced for a long time. She started out racing at the Naples Ft Myers track, then moved to Jefferson County, and on to Daytona Beach before ending up at the Birmingham Race Track. She raced 230 races and is still winning. Her last race was a top 'A' level race. Her kennel is closing and because she is 4 and a half years old they are chosing to retire her even though she is still a good racer. Her sire is the very famous Kiowa Sweet Trey and her Dam is Miss Irish Jawa. She did not pass her cat test so will need a home with no cats. She did pass her small dog test so should be fine in a home with them. She turns 5 on July 21st. She is a friendly, happy girl that is calm and well behaved. She has picked up the rules quickly in foster care and is very good. Zoe hasn't had one accident in her foster home. She gets along well with the other dogs in her foster home. Zoe is very sweet and her foster home says very nearly perfect. She is quiet in her crate and potties well on leash so would be fine for an apartment or other home without a fenced yard. She should be great for a first time greyhound owner that wants an easy dog or someone that is looking to add a greyhound to their existing pack. |

Ryan came in from the Orange Park Track in Jacksonville Florida. He had a long successful career racing 195 races. His last race was in November. Ryan turned 5 on April 7th. His sire is Stan's Boy Flyer and his dam is Tryton's Baby. He raced at 74lbs so is a mid sized male. Ryan is not really a wild boy like his name suggests. He is loves to play but just in short bursts like the typical greyhound then is back taking a nap. This is a very sweet boy. Andy didn't pass his cat or small dog test and was too interested in chasing them to be able to live in a home with them. Medium sized dogs and larger should be fine though. We have Ryan listed as older children only. He really likes small kids and seeks them out and is very good with them normally. Like many dogs, Ryan doesn't like to be bothered when he is sleeping though, so we can't place him with children that are too young to understand that. |

Faith is a small girl that raced at 55lbs. She is a light fawn that turned 3 on March 3rd. Faith raced 111 races in Abilene KS, Dubuque and Bluffs Run in IA and Sanford Orlando in Florida. Even though she ran a lot of races she only won 5 of them. Her sire is Kiowa Pretence and her dam is Sheena Shines. She is described as being a very friendly social girl that goes up to everyone for love. She is calm and well behaved though. Faith has been pretty overwhelmed since she arrived and has been pretty shy with us. Since she was so outgoing with her trainers at the track we are sure she will warm up fast. She passed her small dog test and didn't even get up from laying down when she saw him. Faith was renamed Neala and lived happily in her adoptive home with the Persic family until she passed away suddenly on 6/26/17 due to either a blood clot or a brain tumor. |

Klondike came from the Birmingham Race Track Adoption Kennel. He raced most of his 157 races at that track but also raced early in his career at Melbourne, Daytona Beach, Jefferson County, Sarasota and Ebro tracks. He is a very tall, handsome, brindle male that raced at 78lbs. His sire is USS Raceway and his dam is Greys Redington. He did not pass his cat test so needs a home with no kitties. He did do OK with the small dog he was introduced to so should be Ok in a home with small dogs with supervision at first. Klondike has a wonderful, happy, personality and loves people. He seemed to handle the trip very well and didn't seem stressed by anything. He was adopted but now Klondike is back with us and looking for another family because he made noise when left alone in his crate. He needs a housing environment without very close neighbors and definitely isn't an apartment or condo dog. He was living with another greyhound so having another dog with him doesn't seem to really help him stay quiet. He's a gorgeous, friendly boy and is ready to try again with the right situation! |

Peg is a beautiful white and black girl that is a littermate to Dream that we just adopted out. She looks a lot like her, mostly white with black spots. She raced at 57lbs so is a smaller girl. She raced at several tracks starting at Wheeling Downs in WV then moving to Daytona Beach in FL and finally to Birmingham AL where she retired. She raced 58 races and only won 3 of those but managed to place enough to make some money and continue racing. She will turn 3 on May 7th. Her sire is TK Quick Strike and her dam is Hamparsum. She is an outgoing, happy, girl. She likes people and is very waggy and greets everyone happily. No one is a stranger to this sweet girl. |

Barry came in from the Orange Park Race Track in Jacksonville Florida. He made it to the track but never had an official race. He is a pretty timid, shy boy so he was retired before he really got started. Barry is very young and won't turn 2 until March 6th. His sire is Pat C Clement and his dam is GS Millie. He is a smaller guy that weighs 68lbs. Barry is a shy greyhound that is going to need a family with patience that will give him the weeks or months it will take to warm up to them. He is likely to be more of a home body that is too timid to enjoy going out to new places around a lot of people. Barry did pass his cat test, and was afraid of the cat. So far Barry is doing well in his foster home. He does cautiously follow his foster mom around and likes to be right behind her. He gets timid if she turns and looks directly at him but he does like to be petted and you can grab his collar without him running away so he doesn't seem to be as shy as we thought. He isn't brave enough to take treats out of her hand yet. He crates well but does make some noise when alone so wouldn't be a good apartment dog. For a young boy he is very calm. We think he will be a wonderful pet for his new family after he has a chance to warm up to them. |

He is a calm boy that is well behaved and was picked for a foster home with a toddler and small dogs. He is doing great in his foster home with both. He is quickly getting acclimated to living in a home and is very well behaved. Stuart is friendly, sweet and loves people. |

Tara is a beautiful, shiny, black female that raced at 60lbs. She raced 25 races and never won one of them. She raced at several tracks, Derby Lane, Daytona Beach and finally Birmingham AL. She was picked for a foster home with a small child because of her good nature. She passed her test with small dogs so could live in a home with them. Tara turned 3 on September 15th. Her sire is Kelsos Lorenzo and her dam is Kelsos Sleeven. Tara is doing great in her foster home with a toddler and a small dog. She is very outgoing and loves everyone. A happy, bouncy girl that her foster mom says is the best foster she has had. Tara potties on leash and is fostered in a home without a fenced yard so is used to going for regular walks to do her business so would be perfect for an adoptive family that doesn't have a fenced yard. |

Sugar is a small 56lb red female. She just retired from the Birmingham Race Track but also raced at Naples Ft. Myers. She turned 2 on June 8th. Her sire is the famous Flying Penske and her dam is AMF Sweet Betty. Sugar passed her cat and small dog tests at the track and is doing fine in her foster home with both. She is a grinner that does a cute smile when she is happy or excited. Sugar took over the couch and bed as soon as she got into her foster home and was a great snuggler from the first day. This is a sweet, sweet loving girl. She is doing great with the children in her foster home too. |

Hazel is a brindle girl that raced at 63lbs. She is retiring from the Birmingham Race Track after 82 races. She also raced at Wheeling Downs in WV. She wasn't a great racer but did get up to B level and won a few races at that level. She did pass her small dog test at the track and is being fostered with a small dog. She will turn 4 on March 16th. Hazel is doing great in foster care and is very sweet and loving. |

Pam is a red brindle female that raced at 65lbs. She is retiring from Palm Beach Race Track after 73 races. She also raced at Flagler and Naples-Fr. Myers tracks. She will turn 3 on March 21st. Her sire is Flying Coal City and her dam is USS Out of Sight. She has a beautiful red brindle coat and is a very sweet girl. Pam was very interested in the cat she met at the track but was much better with the second cat she met here. She went right up to sniff but got slapped by the cat and had no interest in getting near the cat again. So we put her down as trainable. She would probably do best with a cat that would stand its ground and not run away. She seems like a bit higher energy girl that gets excited easily about everything and runs up to check out anything new. She was equally excited meeting the small dog but just sniffed politely and quickly realized what he was. She has complained loudly about being in her crate the first few hours she has been here so may not do well in an apartment. She travels very well. She was hard to get photos of because she wanted to lean up against the legs of the person holding her leash the entire time and it was hard to get the legs out of the pictures. |

Dream is a little white girl with black spots. She is small, racing at 58lbs. She raced at 67 races mainly at Daytona Beach. She recently moved to Birmingham and only ran a few races there. She did win some races. Her sire is TK Quick Strike and her dam is Hamparsum. She turned 2 on May 7th. She passed her cat and small dog tests at the track so should be fine to live with either. She is doing well with the cats in her foster home. Dream did great with an 18 month old that visited her foster home. She is still a bit timid but does wag her tail when people approach. Dream kennels nicely and will go in when told and is very quiet in her kennel. She eats well and is a very good girl. She doesn't do steps very well yet. She is just getting the hang of going down but has a lot of trouble going up steps still. So far Dream hasn't tried to get up on the furniture and prefers to lay on her dog bed. Most greyhounds aren't comfortable in the sit position and it isn't a natural position for most of them but it is for Dream. She will sit on her own. |

Kendra originally retired from Orange Park in Jacksonville Florida but also raced at Derby Lane. She raced 42 races and didn't win a single one but did place sometimes. She retired in September of 2009 and was placed by another group and has been in her adoptive home since then. Her family is moving now and aren't taking her with them, so she is looking for a new home. Kendra is timid and shy at first but is good with cats, small dogs and kids. Her sire is Aimin By Design and her dam is BD's Patches. She will celebrate her 9th birthday on January 31st so she does qualify for our senior adoption discount. More as we get to know her. These photos are ones from when she was younger hopefully we will be able to get new ones soon. |

Sweet Senior! Razor is a 71lb brindle male that is a real traveler. He started out racing in Abilene KS, then went to Sarasota FL, Naples-Ft Myers, Derby Lane, Orange Park and then to Daytona Beach where he retired. He never was a good racer and in 118 races only ever won 4. He kept trying though. Razor just turned 8 on May 27th so qualifies for our reduced adoption fee of $250. He is a friendly, sweet, playful boy that has been in an adoptive home with 2 other greyhounds since January of 2015. His family is having to move in with their father to take care and can't take their 3 greyhounds with them. They have asked us to re-home them. Razor has a great personality and is still a playful, silly, guy that doesn't act his age. He has been living with cats and other greyhounds and is fine with small dogs. He hasn't lived with kids but has always been fine with the ones he has been around. His family thinks he would do fine in just about any situation and would be fine being placed on his own without his buddies. All three dogs have the same sire Maryville Rumble and Razor's dam is B's Katy Bee. The pictures we have of him are from when he first was placed over 3 years ago. Razor's family was able to figure out a way to keep him although they are still having to place his two housemates! |

Connor just arrived from the Birmingham Race track. She is a tiny black female that only weighs 55lbs. She turned 2 on May 5th and only raced 39 races. She was pretty good and quickly got up to the top A level of racing there and won a couple A level races. She pulled up in her last race August 2nd and they found she had a broken front leg. Her leg was fixed and splinted at the track. She is out of the splint and cleared for adoption now. The break healed up very well and shouldn't affect her life as a pet. Connor is a shy girl at first with people she doesn't know but it usually only takes her a few days to warm up to new people. She is very sweet and loving with her foster mom and the staff at the vet clinic that she has visited frequently. She was a little interested in the cat at first in her cat test, but once the cat slapped her she wouldn't get near it again. She has done well in her foster home with the cat there too so should do well in a home with a cat. Most of our shy dogs are a little too timid to live with loud, rowdy, young children and prefer more quiet homes with older or calm, quiet children or children that just visit occasionally but Connor hasn't really been around many children yet. Connor is a very sweet, happy girl that is so beautiful! |

Andrea just arrived from a greyhound farm in Kansas with her sister Abby. She raced 162 races at 57lbs in Palm Beach Florida. She retired from racing in January of 2014. Andrea has been at the farm since, with the plans for her to have puppies. Her owner decided to retire her and let her be a pet so she is ready for the pet stage of her life now. We already placed her mom Audacious and one of her sisters Beguiled so have been waiting on her and her sister to retire. Her sire is TK Quick Strike. Both girls passed their cat tests so should be fine to live in a home with cats or small dogs. We found out that Andrea is a grinner when she is happy. Very cute! More as we get to know her. |

Bo never raced. He was born on November 4th in 2005. Bo has had a long run of bad luck with adoptive homes. He was adopted out as a young dog and was in his first home for 4 years until 2011 when one of them started having trouble with a dog allergy. He was adopted out to another family in 2011 but was found running loose in April of 2014. His previous family didn't respond to attempts to contact them to see if they wanted their dog back so the family that found him decided to keep him. Bo has been whining a lot in that home and didn't appear to be happy, so now he is being rehomed again. His sire is the famous Fortified Power and his dam is M's Elizabeth. He just turned 9 on Nov 4th so qualifies for our reduced adoption fee of $200! Bo is a handsome boy that loves to be by your side. Bo absolutely loves children and slept in the bed with a 7 year old boy in one of his previous homes. He gets along well with other dogs small and large. Bo is a fun boy, and is constantly making his foster family laugh. Even though he is an older guy, he is still playful and loves to run around in the yard. After a very short run can usually be found laying on the couch or bed nearest his people. He is such a loving happy guy and so cute too! Bo seems like he has too high of a prey drive towards cats to be able to live with them but has been living with small dogs and is wonderful with them. Bo can be vocal if left alone so wouldn't be a good dog for an apartment or townhouse. If you want a dog that is already used to living in a home that loves kids, this is your guy! |

Sarah is a beautiful, unusual light fawn with black stripes. She is a tiny girl racing at just 55lbs. She was a successful racer and raced 131 races at Derby lane in St Pete FL. She even raced in a couple of Stakes races. Because she was good she had one litter of pups before she was retired. Even though she had a long race career and is a mom she is still very young and won't turn 5 until February 2nd. She is a very special girl with a great personality that her trainer would love to just adopt herself if she had room for another one at home. She wants this girl to get a very special home. Sarah's sire is the famous Dodgem By Design and her dam is Dreamy Blossom. More as we get to know her. Be sure to look at her other pictures to see pictures of her as a puppy. |

Elf never actually raced and broke her leg in training. She is very young and just turned 1 year old on April 19th. Elf had surgery to fix her leg and was transported to our group a month later after she was cleared to travel. Her sire is Kelsos Fusileer and her dam is Kiowa Adara Amy. She has made a good recovery from the break and should be able to walk and play just fine. Her splint is off and she has her final vet appointment on October 10th so is available for adoption now. To help our group take in more injured athletes like Elf please go to our Injured Athlete Page. This is a very special fund that we have just for dogs with major injures and 100 percent of it goes to pay for surgeries and vet care. Thanks to our generous supporters we are able to help quite a few dogs with broken legs. Elf is a very sweet snuggler that loves to get up in your lap. She loves people and gives puppy kisses and even grins sometimes. Elf loves kids and everyone she meets. Since she is still a playful pup, she might accidentally knock over toddlers while playing with them so we have her listed as older children only. Because she is still a pup, Elf needs supervision and frequent reminders about household rules. She has played with a Jack Russell in her foster home and is good with him, but being a pup she might play too rough to play with a tinier dog than that. |

Lindy is a very young, beautiful, white girl with black spots that came to us straight from the farm. Her sire is Djays Octane and her dam is Leprechaun Girl. Lindy never showed much interest in racing so her racing owners feel that she would make a better pet and decided not to send her to the race track. She did pass her cat and small dog tests so should be fine in a home with either. Lindi is very timid and shies away from strangers. If you come to meet her she will go to her crate and won't interact but she only needs a little time to warm up. She is very friendly and comfortable around her foster dad after just a short time. Lindy just needs a little time and patience and she will be the BEST girl. Lindy has turned into a very sweet snuggler at her foster home. Very loving! Lindy came in with her sister Lori who has already been adopted so some of the pictures are of both girls. |

Collins originally came to us from D'Arcy Kennels at Derby Lane in Florida in August of this year. She is a daughter of the very famous Kiowa Sweet Trey and her mom is a dog that we placed Deco Caraways. We already placed her sister Vale of Arryn too. Collins raced 50 races at Derby Lane and is a young girl that celebrates her 3rd birthday on December 8th. She is a bouncy happy girl that loves to play and run and does the cutest greyhound grin when she is happy. Collins passed her cat and small dog test so should be fine to live with either. She has been in an adoptive home since August but is being returned to us. |

Leeza came from the Sanford Orlando race track where she raced just 16 races. She didn't win one of them. Her sire is a famous guy that actually lives in Upstate SC, Dave The Dog. Her dam is Jr B's Amy Lou. Leeza is a small girl that raced at 57lbs. She was a little timid at first but warmed up fast. She did great at a meet and greet recently with kids and adults all around her and was very friendly. She plays with her foster mom and the male greyhound in her foster home. She is a calm, well behaved girl that turned 2 on July 26th. She passed her cat and small dog tests so should be OK to live with either. Leeza is a follower and is more confident if she has another dog to follow around so her ideal home would have at least one other dog. |

BoJack is a black male with a white face that raced at 76lbs. He just turned 8 October 30th. He raced at 4 tracks Wonderland in Mass, Tri State in WV, and Palm Beach and Jefferson County in Florida. His sire is WW Apple Jax and his dam is Flying Neely. BoJack is a sweet, friendly guy that was very well behaved at the track. He passed his cat and small dog tolerance tests at the track and lived around cats in foster care. He lived in a home for a couple of years after he retired but his owner had to move and couldn't take him. Last year he was adopted by a family with a lot of kids of all ages and he has been wonderful with all the children and the large family. But now they have to return him to us. BoJack is a wonderful dog and should be comfortable in almost any home situation. He would be perfect for a home with kids. Because Bojack is 8 years old he qualifies for our senior discount! |

Leila just arrived from the Birmingham Race Track where she raced 31 races. She never won a race so her career was short. Her sire is Cry Homer and her dam is Humdinger Doll. Leila raced at 64lbs and just turned 2 on August 16th. She was more interested in checking out everything in the room than the cats when she met them and did fine with the small dog too. So she should be fine in a home with cats or small dogs. More as we get to know her. |

Yingling will turn 3 on Dec 10th. She is a red brindle girl that raced at 63lbs. Yingling didn't pass her cat test so needs a home without kitties but she did pass her small dog test so should be fine to live in a home with small dogs with supervision at first. Don't let his tough name fool you, Crusher is a sweet, loving guy that looks like a deer with big dark eyes. In spite of his cuteness he has been waiting on someone to adopt him or another group to take him at the Birmingham Adoption Kennel since he retired in May. Crusher has a higher than average prey drive and at first mistook other breeds of dogs for bunnies so it didn't appear that he was going to be able to live with small dogs or cats. He is doing great in his foster home though and after sniffing a few dogs of other breeds figured out that they were just dogs. He has been fine meeting even a small white Italian greyhound. He loves to play and does try to get other dogs to play with him so he would probably do better with medium to larger dogs that could actually play with him than very small dogs that couldn't. Crusher loves toys and especially likes ones that squeak. He complains sometimes about being left in his crate so probably wouldn't be a good dog for apartment or townhouse living. He loves people and is great with other greyhounds he has met. He was a good racer that raced 110 races in Birmingham and he got up to the highest A level of racing. He raced at 73lbs which is mid sized. Crusher turned 3 on April 24th. His sire is Mulberry Lazer and his dam is Mulberry Tipsy. |

Patsy originally came to us from the Orange Park track in Jacksonville Fl. She actually raced in Sarasota Florida and in Dubuque IA though and never actually competed in Orange Park according to her race record. She is a 66lb red female that raced 40 races. Patsy turned 3 on July 25th. Her sire is from Ireland named Team Record and her dam is Pat C Fluctuate. Patsy is a happy, friendly girl with a great personality. She is used to being around kids because her trainers brought their kids to work with them and she loved the kids. In a greyhound racing kennel all the dogs wake up and get up when someone comes in or opens their crate so sleep startle is rarely ever seen and definitely isn't a problem. Since she arrived we have found that she doesn't like to be touched when she is sleeping. For this reason we prefer to place her in a home without kids or a home with older kids that are old enough to understand not to bother her while she is sleeping. Her foster home has been working on this behavior and Patsy is responding well to training. Patsy has lived with a small hyper dog but would do better with larger, calmer dogs that will not jump on her when she is sleeping for the same reason. She has lived with cats and is good with them. She gives kisses and loves to play with toys. A very happy, friendly girl and what a GORGEOUS girl! She is very sweet and well behaved and has great house manners. |

Spellbound is a tall red fawn female. She raced at 66lbs. She just arrived from the Birmingham Race Track. She only ran 12 races and is another one that started bumping into and playing with the other racers so was not allowed to continue her racing career. Her sire is BD's Greyson and her dam is WW's Uh Huh. She turned 2 on Nov 6th. Spellbound was too interested in kitties to pass her cat test so we thought she would need a home with no cats but she paid no attention to that cats in later cat tests so seems to be OK now. She did well with small dogs as well. More as we get to know her. |

Irena just arrived from the Sanford Orlando Race track. She was brought in specifically for one our families that met her at the track and has been waiting to adopt her. She raced 128 races and got up to the top A level at Sanford Orlando. She started out her career at Southland in Arkansas and also raced at Flagler and Derby Lane briefly before being moved to Sanford Orlando. Irena raced at 60lbs and her sire is the very famous Kiowa Sweet Trey. Her dam is USA Lila. Irena's last race was September 14th of 2014. While she was racing, her trainer took her over to the local highschool to be a mascot for the Lyman Greyhounds. She loved all the attention and her naturally confident, happy personality made her perfect for her other job. Be sure to look at her other pictures to see pictures of her as a mascot. She is good with small dogs and loves kids. |

Mac is an extra large, loving greyhound that raced at a huge 84lbs and is well over 90lbs now. During his time at Orange Park track adoption kennel (GPA of NE Florida) he was a kennel favorite. His sire is the famous Kiowa Sweet Trey so he is a half brother to a bunch of the dogs we have placed. His dad seems to throw extra sweet pups and Mac is a twin to another big guy that we already placed. He was born on March 21st of 2009 so he is 4 years old. This boy is a happy, loving guy that loves everyone he meets. He seems like a fun guy that bounces happily when he meets you but so far has crated quietly so can be calm and lazy too. He is food motivated so should be easy to train to do tricks or obedience. Mac is a big lovable guy that is going to make a great pet. He is cat and small dog friendly so could live with either. Mac has been in an adoptive home for over a year now and was returned to us because they had a child and no longer had time for a dog. He is wonderful with kids and should be an easy pre acclimated pet for some lucky family. He was returned to us very overweight so we are working on getting some weight off of him. The photos we have of him are ones when he first retired and was in great shape. |

Dempsey is arriving from the Birmingham Race Track. He is a white male with black spots that raced at 69lbs so is on the smaller side for a male. He only raced 2 races, one in Daytona and one in Birmingham. He tried to play with the other racers in both races which is not allowed. It meant he had to be retired. He is young and turned 2 on August 7th. His sire is Kiowa Mon Manny and his Dam is Kiowa Deli Dana. He did not pass his cat test at the track so will need a home with no kitties. He was OK with the small dog he met at the track and should be OK to live with small dogs with supervision at first. He is a quiet guy that should be OK to live in an apartment. |

Salsa is a cute little black female that is arriving from the Birmingham Race Track. She didn't show much promise as a racer and never even raced an official race there. She turned 2 on March 21st. Her sire is CTW Plaza Rio and her Dam is CTW Pole Dancer. She did pass her cat and small dog tests at the track and is being fostered in a home with cats. She is a sweet, friendly girl that her foster home says is a joy to have as a guest. |

Bambi is a friendly happy girl that turned 2 on September 5th. She only raced two races at the Birmingham Race Track and finished last in both of them so was retired. She passed her cat and small dog tests so should be fine to live with either. She is a sweet friendly girl! More as we get to know her. |

Mike is arriving from the Birmingham Race Track where he raced 134 races. He was a good racer competing at the top A level for much of his career and until he retired. Mike is a small male that raced at just 64lbs. He passed his small dog test at the track and seemed to be a little interested but trainable with the cat. Mike loves the kids that have visited him at the track adoption kennel and seems like he would be wonderful for a family with kids. He turned 3 on June 14th. His sire is Rhythmless and his dam is Gable Nip. He is a happy, friendly guy with a great personality. More as we get to know him. |

True is a pretty black female that raced at 69lbs. She only raced 18 races at Wheelng Downs in WV and Orange Park in FL and didn't win one of them and only placed in 2 of them. Her sire is the famous Trent Lee and her dam is Kay Carmella. True is a very calm, quiet girl that was well behaved on the trip up and is excellent on leash. She will turn 3 on April 15th. True passed her cat test at the track so can live in a home with them and should be fine to live with small dogs. She was fine with the kids she met too. She loves going for walks with her foster dad. She potties well on leash and is quiet in her crate. |
