Kat just arrived from the adoption kennel at the Sanford Orlando Race Track. She was retired in May 22nd after racing 12 races and not winning one of them. She has been at the adoption kennel since she retired. She is large for a female racing at 68lbs. She is a gorgeous, stocky girl that is built like a body builder. She is dark brindle with a lot of white on her feet and on her chest and neck. Really a stunning girl. She is friendly and happy. Her sire is Kiowa Myth and her dam is Kiowa Juliet Kat. She turned 2 on May 8th. Kat loves playing in water and will splash and dig the water out of a baby pool or bucket. She travels well too. |

Java just arrived from the Orlando Race track. We only found 5 races for him at Southland in Arkansas, Naples Ft Meyers and Sanford Orlando in Florida. He didn't do well in any of his races. Java's litter was named for coffee. His sire is the famous Trent Lee and his dam is DS Stormy. Java is a handsome tall boy with a white blaze on his face, a white chest and some white on his toes. Very flashy! He raced most recently at 77lbs but was 73-74 in most of his races. Java turned 2 on February 14th so is a Valentines Day pup! He passed his cat and small dog tests so should be OK in a home with either. So far he has complained a bit about being in his kennel so may not be the best dog for apartment living. Java is very sweet and friendly and does a bouncy prance a lot of the time that only makes him more flashy and beautiful. He is a very nice boy that loves people and should make a great pet. |

Meredith came to us from the Birmingham Race Track where she raced 32 races without winning a single one of them. She did place second in a few. She turned two on February 11th so is a pretty young girl. She raced at 60lbs. Her sire is the very famous Kiowa Mon Manny and her dam is My Aunt Matilda. She passed her cat test and small dog test so should be fine to live with either. Meridith is a happy, friendly, girl that is a beautiful light fawn with brindle striping. She can be a little timid at first with men and can be a bit timid when out in new places, but that is likely to get better as she is exposed to more new things. She has gotten along fine with the other dog at her foster home. Meredith probably does need a fenced yard to potty in because she just walks on walks and doesn't stop to go potty even if another dog does. |

Harvest is a young female that was co-owned by a couple of our volunteers during her racing career. They both have kept several of their racers already as pets so are letting us place Harvest in an adoptive home. She is very young and won't turn 2 until September 17th. She didn't do well in race training and just wasn't that interested in chasing the lure so was retired without a single official race. Her sire is the famous Flying Hydrogen and her dam is Many Moons. Her mom Many Moons is also available on our website! When Harvest first arrived she was timid but within a day or two was happy, bouncy and friendly. Just like her mom, she will talk to you with happy roos and little barks if you talk to her first. She is a very cute little girl that gets along well with all the other dogs in her foster home and hasn't had one accident. Be sure to check out her other photos to see pictures of her as a young pup. Harvest does complain some about being in the crate so probably would not be a good choice for an apartment. She has been good with the cats in her foster home. Harvest was just moved into a new foster home in Columbia and she wasn't shy with her like she was when we first got her. She was talking to her and playbowing the very first day. |

Gipper retired from the Orlando Track in April of this year. He had been waiting for in the track adoption kennel since then. He is a gorgeous white boy with a few bright red brindle spots. He is higher energy for a greyhound and is bouncy and happy. Gipper only raced 18 races at Orlando and at Dubuque in IA. He only won 2 of those. Gipper raced at 72lbs so is a mid sized guy that won't turn 3 until October 21st. His sire is Djays Octane and his dam is Antsie Nancy. Gipper was a favorite in his racing kennel and his trainer called him her "kennel boyfriend" because he was so devoted to her and wanted to be with her. He would be a great hiking or jogging partner since he isn't the typical greyhound couch potato. He might be a good obedience or agility dog for the same reason. He is very outgoing and confident. He was a bit bossy with some of the other dogs in the adoption kennel so would need to be placed with just the right dog or with no other dogs. Gipper's foster family is working on teaching him to walk nicely on leash and not to jump on people. He just gets so excited to see new friends and wants to check out everything around him. Because Gipper is bouncy and jumps on people we have him listed as no small kids. He has liked the kids he has met but would be likely to knock a small toddler down with his enthusiastic greetings. Gipper just needs plenty of exercise and some training to tone down his excitement a bit. Gipper does bark sometimes when he gets excited so would not be a good apartment dog. He did pass his cat and small dog test and was afraid of the cat after he got smacked by the cat one time. If you want a goofy, happy, boy with a lot of personality this boy is the one! |

Jasper is a mid-sized black male that raced at 75lbs. His sire is Yahoo Omar and his dam is BF Pina. He is very friendly and sweet and wonderful with kids of all ages. One of those dogs that loves attention and will follow you around. For Millsap, there is no such thing as too much attention. He loves everyone and makes sure they know it. He is a big traveler starting out his race career in Abilene then moving to Bluffs Run and Dubuque in IA. From there he moved to Florida where he raced at Sarasota, Naples-Ft Myers and Sanford Orlando where he finally retired from. He raced 125 races including A level races and even Stakes races, so he was a good racer. He will turn 6 on Dec 27th. Jasper was returned to us from his first home in October of 2014. He lived with lots of kids in a big active family and was very good with them. His actual owner was an 18-year-old girl that did a lot of training with him. Jasper knows many obedience commands sit, stay, down and come and loves to play fetch and can find a treat on command. He was returned the first time because of a family thing and not because of anything he did. He was adopted again in October of 2014 and his name was changed to Jack. This time he lived in a very quiet home and did fine there too.  He is being returned because his owner had an injury and is having difficulty physically and financially taking care of him. If you want a dog that comes pre-trained and has wonderful manners and will be good in a large family with kids and other pets this is your boy! Jasper knows many obedience commands sit, stay, down and come and loves to play fetch and can find a treat on command.

Tart had a short race career of only 24 races at Derby Lane and only won one race. Even though she wasn't a great racer, she and most of the girls in her litter, were sent back to the farm to become moms. Tart had 2 litters and a total of 12 pups registered so far and is now on to her 3rd career as a pet. One of her daughters is actually available for adoption through us right now - Red Harvest Moon. Tart's sire is WW Apple Jax and her dam is Sunsand Fran. She raced at 59lbs and just turned 9 on July 22nd. Tart is a shy girl and doesn't really seek out affection yet. If you talk to her she will roo and talk back to you though. She is VERY good in the house, no accidents and gets along with everyone. She does like her crate but doesn't need the crate because she gets along so well with everyone and is so well behaved. Tart is good with small dogs and is fine with the kids she has met. She loves to go for rides in the car. Because she is a senior Tart qualifies for our reduced adoption fee of $200. Tart did pass her cat test with barely a sniff and is being fostered with small dogs. Families meeting Tart should understand that she will be timid and won't interact much because she is shy at first and will need plenty of time to get used to new people. She may always be happiest in the background and seems to be more of a wallflower type. |

Valerie just arrived from the Daytona Beach Track. She is a small girl and we guess her weight to be about 58lbs. She doesn't have an official racing weight because she never had one official race. She didn't do well in training so was retired. Valerie is very young that turned 2 on August 8th. She still has a thick fuzzy puppy coat which gives her a very cute puppy look. Â Her sire is Dragon Fire and her dam is Astarroyalnsassy. She is a friendly girl that rode calmly on the trip up from Florida and seemed very well behaved. So far in her foster home Valerie has spent a lot of time watching TV and seem fascinated with it. She is calm and gentle with their children. Valerie loves to be close to her people and follows her foster family from room to room. She does fuss a little about being in her crate so may not be an apartment dog. Â More as we get to know this sweet little girl. She has been fine around the small dogs she has met but still needs tested with cats. |

Raven is a tiny girl that raced at 55lbs. She is a mostly white girl with just a few black spots and some ticking (freckles). She only raced 21 races at Sanford Orlando race track before she retired because of a split webbing between her toes. She only won one of those races. Her sire is Premier Fantasy and her dam is JD She Rappin. Raven turned 2 on August 27th. According to the people at the track that know her Raven is pretty social and goes up to some people but not everyone so she can be just a little timid at first. She is a very calm girl. Raven has been friendly so far and very social with us following us around. Seems like she will be a very nice calm girl. She did fine with the small dog she met and was very calm with him. |

Quantico is a big friendly white boy with tan patches. He is an extra large guy that raced at 82lbs. He turns 4 on August 8th. His sire is the famous Kiowa Mon Manny and his dam is RLM's Winter. Quantico was a good racer that started out at Tri-State in WV then moved to Birmingham AL. He raced at the top A level in Birmingham and raced 132 races so had a pretty long, successful career. Quantico was interested in the cat when he met it but quickly lost interest after the cat slapped him a few times so he may be trainable with cats. He did fine with the small dog he met though. He traveled well on our trip back from the track. Quantico is a very friendly bouncy boy that loves people. More as we get to know him. |

Fargo is a very tall, gorgeous guy with a beautiful, shiny, dark brindle coat. He is an extra large guy, one of the tallest we have seen. Because he has a more tall and narrow build, he probably weighs somewhere in the upper 80s instead of in the 90s like a stockier boy his size would. Fargo is not tattooed and never raced we think he may be an AKC bred greyhound rather than a racing bred greyhound. He was acquired by his first owner as a puppy. He has lived in a home as a pet all his life. His first owner had a serious health condition that prevented him from caring for his dogs anymore and relinquished Fargo in 2012. He was quickly re-adopted but now it has happened again. His current owner also has some serious health problems that is forcing her to return her 3 greyhounds to us Fargo, Lucy and Angel. She loves these dogs very much, but just can no longer care for them due to her rapidly declining health. Fargo is very outgoing and loves everyone he meets. He will give free kisses to everyone. He loves to snuggle and will quickly make himself at home beside you on a bed or couch and is likely to try to get in your lap. Don't plan on napping alone if Fargo is around. He is a happy, silly guy with ton of personality and no one would ever guess that he is an older guy if he didn't have a little gray on his face. He likes to play and run. He is a guy that will be up for any type of activity because he still has quite a bit of energy. He is the typical couch potato though, going for short bursts, then sleeping for hours. Fargo is very smart and curious and opened a crate door, walked inside picked up a dog bowl and carried it out of the crate to hopefully have it filled the first morning in his foster home. He is a fun, entertaining guy that makes his foster home laugh. He seems to adjust well to anything and has shown no anxiety after being moved into foster care. He is just so happy and loves everyone and everything so we think he would make a fantastic therapy dog or meet and greet dog. He will certainly get a lot of attention being the biggest dog in the room and the one with the sweetest, most outgoing personality. Fargo is wonderful with kids. The only flaw we have found with him is that he is afraid of thunderstorms and fireworks. He crates well but isn't always perfectly quiet so may not be an apartment dog. Fargo was seen by our vet and had a dental and has a clean bill of health and is ready to go home. Fargo passed his cat and small dog tests so should be able to live with either. He lived in a home with a number of other dogs of different breeds both males and females so should be very good with other dogs. This is a super sweet guy!! Because Fargo is a senior, he qualifies for our reduced senior adoption fee of $200. |

Wendy came to us from the Birmingham Race Track Adoption Kennel. She was a winner at the track and won at the top levels even racing in several stakes races. She didn't actually race at Birmingham. She raced 105 races at Palm Beach until she hurt herself in her last race 5/28/11. She was retired and went back to the farm to be a mom. She has 2 litters listed that are racing now. She is retiring from mom duties now and arrived on May 29th. Wendy turned 7 on April 7th. She did pass her cat and small dog tests so should be fine to live with either. Her sire is Inspecda Deck and her dam is Hush Hush. Wendy is a sweet girl that is very well behaved and so cute! She is very loving and calm and will make a wonderful pet for a lucky family. |

Connie just arrived from the Sanford Orlando Race Track. She also raced at Mari Gras in FL and Bluffs Run and Dubuque in IA. Connie did get up to the top A level of racing and race 133 races. She raced at 65lbs and turned 4 on April 23rd. Her sire is Rhythmless and her dam is Kay Shivon Sally. Connie is used to being around the children of her race trainer so should do fine with kids. She passed her cat and small dog tests with no interest in chasing either. She tried to avoid the cats and didn't want to even sniff them. She seems like a pretty friendly girl so far and is quiet in her kennel. More as we get to know her. |

Cisco came from the Birmingham Race Track adoption kennel. He raced only 2 schooling races at Tri State in WV in December of 2012, then was moved to Birmingham AL. No official races on him that we could find at that track. Cisco was adopted out from the adoption kennel there and had been in an adoptive home for a little while. He was returned to the adoption kennel in Birmingham because he was "afraid of the dark". They ended up sending him to our group and we figured out that it wasn't really fear of the dark, it is just that he doesn't want to go outside unless another dog is with him, day or night. In spite of not wanting to go outside to potty he would hold it forever in the house and rarely had an accident. Cisco is a very good boy that tries hard to please. He has done great with other dogs around and regularily goes for walks even in the dark as long as another dog is there for company. Cisco's sire is Afleet Alex and his dam is Kelsos Corkhill. He turned 4 on November 12th. So far Cisco has been a very calm, friendly guy that likes everyone and is a super sweet guy. His foster homes have been tempted to keep him because he is so easy to fall in love with. Cisco passed his small dog tests but needs a home without cats. He is a very quiet boy in his kennel so may be a good choice for apartment or townhouse living. He just needs to be in a home with at least one other dog to help his confidence. Cisco is home acclimated, very loving and super cute! He would be an easy first or 5th greyhound. |

Sheldon just arrived from the Orange Park Race Track in Jacksonville FL. He raced 8 races at Derby Lane but didn't do well at that track so was moved to Orange Park. He broke his front leg in his first race there. So he only had a total of 9 races and never won one of them. One of our volunteers is his racing owner. His racing owner has already had surgery done on his leg before we got him and the surgery went very well. His owner has already has kept several retired racers as pets at her home so Sheldon will be available for adoption as he is healed and cleared to be adopted by our vets. That should be in July. Sheldon's sire is USS Raceway and his dam is Bow Fine Tune. He is a larger guy that raced at 79lbs. Sheldon just turned 2 on February 17th so is pretty young. Sheldon is a little timid when being handled and having his splint changed so far. He will have plenty of experience with handling by the time his leg heals up with at least 2 splint changes a week. More as we get to know him.

Edison just arrived from the Daytona Race Track because his kennel closed. He only raced there for a little while and raced most of his 67 races at other tracks, Sanford Orlando, Mardi Gras, Derby Lane and Dubuque. He traveled around a bit in his short career. Edison raced at 74 lbs so he is a mid-sized male. His sire is Bob's Skeet and his dam is Elsie Bones. He turned 3 on January 29th. He is calm and submissive, but very friendly, going up to most people for love. Edison passed his cat and small dog tests so should be OK to live with either. He is being fostered in a home with both. His trainer brought her young boys into the kennel so all the dogs are used to being around kids. More as we get to know him. |

Biscuit came in from a Daytona Beach Race Track Kennel closing. He is a tiny, black male that raced at just 62lbs. He only raced 27 races in Daytona and Sanford Orlando. His sire is Gable Sour Cream and his dam is Sovereign Lady. Biscuit just turned 2 on May 25th so is a young guy. He has a beautiful black, muscular boy. Biscuit is a friendly, waggy guy that is a lot of fun and has a lot of personality. He enjoys belly rubs and flops over on his side for them. He tried to climb in his foster mom's lap when she was sitting on the couch - good thing he is a small boy! Like most greyhounds can be a bit dramatic if he thinks it will help him get out of doing something he doesn't want to do. He is mostly quiet in his crate but he has started complaining a bit about being in the crate sometimes so may not be a good choice for an apartment. Biscuit passed his cat and small dog test so should be able to live with either. This is a goofy boy that will keep life interesting. His trainer had 3 boys that were at his racing kennel a lot so he is used to being around kids. Cute cute boy! He is a very loving guy! Biscuit may need a home where he can be with another large dog or greyhound because he has seemed stressed when by himself. |

Banjo is a handsome stocky boy that raced at 73lbs. He just retired from the Daytona Race Track after 91 races. Banjo is an active, bouncy, outgoing boy that would be perfect for an active family that likes to go and do things with their dogs. He is very friendly and has never met a stranger according to his trainer and is very goofy and silly. Banjo's sire is the very famous Kiowa Sweet Trey and his dam is Trophy Collector. Banjo has been around his trainers kids and loves kids but because he is so active and bouncy we think he would do better in a home without tiny kids that could be easily knocked down by a big excited dog. Banjo did easily pass his cat and small dog tests so should be able to live in a home with either. |

Mercedes is a pretty black female with a white chest. She is very alert and curious with ears that stand straight up when she is checking something out. She is small and raced at 58lbs. Her sire is Rhythmless and her dam is Djays Just Playn. She is 3 years old and will turn 4 on September 5th. Mercedes raced 111 races and did get up to the top A level briefly. She retired from Sanford Orlando but also raced at Daytona Beach and Palm Beach in Florida and at Bluffs Rn in IA. Mercedes is a sweet, friendly girl that approaches everyone for affection. She seems confident and very happy. Mercedes passed her cat test and small dog tests and has been living with cats in her home. She travels well and is already home acclimated. She is being returned because one of the cats in her home didn't like her. Mercedes was fine with the cat, the cat just was stressed by having a dog in the house and hadn't gotten over it in 3 months she had lived there. Mercedes walks nicely on leash and is used to going for long walks and loves them. |

Hal is a red fawn male pup that is very happy, goofy and friendly and because he is so young he is a higher energy guy. He has a great personality and has been described as "personality plus". He is still very young and just turned 1 in October. Hal never was officially registered to race due to an injury he got on the farm playing with his littermates. He ran into something and did nerve damage to his shoulder that caused the muscle to atrophy. It is an older injury that is long healed and just makes his shoulder look less muscled on one side than the other. He fell down some stairs in his first home and broke a different leg which was surgically repaired and totally healed now. Pups are clumsy and pups that can run 40 mph can injure themselves when playing. In spite of his previous injuries Hal is strong and loves to play and go for walks. He is fine to run around and play with other dogs and would love to have a home with a big fenced yard that he can run around in. Hal's sire is RA Blazer and his dam is WW's Kunina. Hal did pass his cat test and small dog test. We love his beautiful eyes that match his coat. He is settling into foster care very well and doing well with the cats and even the chickens at his foster home. He does try to play with cats and is a little big for that. He would do better in a home with medium sized or large dogs to play with. He is a smart boy and can learn that he is too big to play with the cats or tiny dogs especially if he has larger dogs to play with instead. Hal should do well in just about any home and will be a very loving devoted guy that will make his family laugh on a daily basis. Hal loves to chase a ball and will bring it back most of the time. Hal can be vocal in his kennel so probably would not be a good apartment dog. He loves kids. |

Betty just arrived from the Daytona Beach Race Track where she raced 57 races. Her kennel just closed and we are helping move the dogs into adoption groups. Betty is a small girl that raced at 56lbs and she will turn 3 on Nov 7th. She has the cutest ears that stand straight up sometimes. Her sire is the famous Kiowa Mon Manny and her dam is Sobe Queens Row. Betty has a wonderful personality and is very outgoing and loves attention. She gives plenty of kisses in return. Betty loves squeaky toys, and goes up and down stairs already like a champ. She goes to her crate on her own at night to go to sleep and is starting to learn how to ring bells on the door when she needs to go outside. She was interested in the cats at first in her foster home, but now sleeps in bed with the cats and is very good with them. She can be a little loud in her crate sometimes so may not be a good apartment dog. Her trainer took her kids to work with her in the kennel so she is used to being around children. Her foster home loves her and says her personality is A+++ She will turn 3 on Nov 7th.

Mandate just arrived from the adoption kennel at the Sanford Orlando race track. He has been there since he retired in March waiting on an adoption group or adopter to pick him. Because he is a big black male, he was overlooked. He raced at Southland in Arkansas and Derby Lane in Fl too. He raced 51 races but didn't win many. Mandate is a shiny, black boy that is very tall. He only raced at 76lbs but towers over most other greyhounds because of the length of his legs. He is just stunning with a personality to match. He was an adoption kennel favorite because of his great personality - friendly and fun- without being hyper or obnoxious. He is a silly boy that loves people. He doesn't seem to have any problem sharing space with other dogs and humans. The other dogs on the haul didn't want him to lay down close to them so he stood most of the way to avoid trouble. When he finally found a spot to lay down he never fussed at any of the other dogs for stepping on him or bothering him. His sire is the very famous Kiowa Mon Manny and his dam is Soda Sipper. Mandate passed his cat and small dog test easily and didn't seem to be interested in chasing either. He responded well to the baby in his foster home too. So far he has been very quiet in his kennel so might be a good apartment dog. This is a drop dead gorgeous guy with a personality to match! More as we get to know him. |

Money is a 62lb female that raced only 19 races in Sarasota and Birmingham. Although she was fast, she interfered with the other dogs when they were racing, intentionally bumping them or playing with them. That isn't allowed, so Money was forced into retirement and not allowed to race anymore in July of 2013. She was sent back to the farm then to be a mom. She was blind in one eye already because of an injury but her owners noticed that her good eye was becoming cloudy too. She was diagnosed with Pannus which can cause blindness if not treated with drops. So she was retired from her mom duties and came in as a special order for a family that owns her littermate in Atlanta. Money will need drops the rest of her life to keep from going completely blind. She is a very calm, sweet friendly girl that doesn't mind having the ointment put in her eye. Money's sire is BD's Herby and her dam is WW Gale Finance. Money turns 4 on September 7th. |

She came in as a special order for one of our families that saw her picture. Leap's sire is KC And All and her dam is PJ Take A Leap. Leap has a family already and is not available for adoption. |

Sweet Tea is a red female that raced at 58lbs. She has 125 races listed and is coming in from Birmingham but also raced at Sanford Orlando, Palm Beach, Flagler and Naples-Ft Myers in Florida, Bluffs Run in IA and Southland in Arkansas. She was good getting up to AA at Southland. Her sire is B's O'Grady and her dam is UCME Smoke N Ace. Sweet Tea turned 4 on March 14th. She did not pass her cat test at the track and seems too interested in very small dogs that look like bunnies to be able to live with them. Sweet Tea is settling in well in her foster home. She is very friendy and affectionate and loves people. She likes to play with toys and will even fetch the toys. At first she was uncomfortable being around very young kids that approached her but has done much better with exposure to more kids and is fine now. Sweet Tea is a very sweet loving girl that will make a fantastic pet for a lucky family. |

Farm just arrived from the Daytona Race Track where he only raced one race. He had raced 19 races before that at the Melbourne Track but only ever won one of them. His Daytona kennel is closing so after he came in last in his first official race they decided to retire him. He is young and won't turn 2 until October 12th. He is a short, stocky, muscular guy racing at 77lbs. Farm's sire is Kiowa Wish Frank and his dam is Kiowa Fuzzy Abby. He is a handsome guy that is mostly white with a lot of freckles and one big spot on his face. He loves meeting new people and seems to be a very outgoing friendly guy. He is calm and quiet in his crate. He has calmed down nicely after the first few days in his foster home and has settled right in. He gets a little excited at first and pulls some on the leash when you first go for walks, but then calms down and is very good after a few minutes. This is a fun guy that would love to go and do whatever you were doing with you. Farm was a little too interested in cats to pass his cat test but he did fine with the small dog in his foster home. He is used to being around kids because his track trainer had 3 young boys that she took with her to the kennel. More as we get to know him. |

Ember just arrived from the Daytona Beach Track where she raced 14 races. She also raced 10 races at Wheeling in WV. She is coming to us because her kennel is closing. She never won a race so she probably would have retired quickly anyway. Ember raced at 61lbs so is a mid-sized girl. She is still young and won't turn 2 until September 19th. Her sire is Pluto Tyme and her dam is Flying Aflame. At the kennel Ember was described as friendly, playful and fun, not overly active, but not a total couch potato either. She is a very friendly, happy girl that is becoming one of her foster families favorite fosters. Ember passed her cat and small dog tests and is being fostered in a home with cats. She has been around the 3 young sons of her track trainer so is used to being around kids. She is happy, cheerful and bouncy and very curious about everything. Ember is the rare greyhound that might actually have watch dog potential. She does bark if she hears something going on outside that is different. She is far to sweet to actually be a guard dog but she might at least alert you when something was amiss. |

Chill is a mid-sized, 75lb red brindle male that just arrived from a Daytona Beach kennel closing. He is a young guy that only raced 25 races and won't turn 2 until November 18th. He raced in Melbourne, Derby Lane and Sanford Orlando and had just been moved to Daytona when the kennel closed so never actually raced there. He is described as calm guy that is very friendly. He traveled well and was so laid back that we think the name Chill really fits him. He slept quietly in his crate all night the first night in his foster home. He wasn't worried about the fireworks going off. He goes to the back door and stares at it when he needs to go out. Chill is good with the small dogs in his foster home and is curious about the children and very calm and gentle. He was around his trainers 3 kids in his racing kennel. |

Gracie just arrived. She was returned because of issues within her family and not because of anything she did. She has been in an adoptive home for over 4 years so is home acclimated. Gracie never raced. We aren't sure why she didn't race but she has a deformed nail and a corn on one toe that could have caused her problems when running. She doesn't limp most of the time but a long walk on a hard surface like concrete is probably going to bother her. Grass or soft dirt is much better and she will probably love short walks on any surface. Her sire is the very famous Dodgem By Design and her dam is Greys Run About. She just celebrated her 6th birthday on June 2nd. Since she has been returned Gracie has seemed sad and overwhelmed. She does wag her tail some and seems like she will be a friendly girl once she gets over the shock of losing her family. Gracie lived with cats in her previous home and she is doing great with small dogs in her foster home. She doesn't act like she has been crated in her previous home and may not need one. She does complain loudly about being in one but is quiet otherwise. |

Breeze originally came to us from the Ebro race track. She was a good racer that raced an amazing 234 races, at Sarasota, Sanford Orlando and Ebro. She was a top level A racer that raced at 60lbs. Breeze is a littermate to dogs we already placed and we have waited quite awhile to get her. She turned 5 on July 14th and is one of the rare greyhounds that raced passed 5 years old. Most retire earlier. Her sire is Lonesome Cry and her dam is Jewels Tango. Breeze is a friendly, happy girl that is confident and social. Breeze passed her cat test and is living in a foster home with cats and small dogs. Breeze had a lot of bad teeth when she arrived and had to have all but 5 removed but she has no problem eating. Breeze is very quiet in her crate and potties on leash well so might be a good apartment dog. She is very sweet and gives kisses. Breeze was in a home for a couple of months but didn't do well there as an only dog and was showing signs of separation anxiety. She has been fine in her foster home where she has other dogs around her all the time, so she it looks like she just needs a home with another dog to be OK. This is a super sweet girl and so pretty! |

Etta just arrived from Daytona Beach. She turned 5 on March 19th. Etta actually retired in October of 2013 and has been living with her trainer since then in her home. She was supposed to be a mom, but there are no litters listed on the racing database, so we aren't sure if that ever happened. Etta raced 118 races in Abilene, Bluffs Run, Jefferson County, and Daytona Beach Tracks. She raced at 61lbs so is a mid-sized girl. Her sire is Iceman Brutus* and her dam is Rocking Jade. We placed one of her littermates years ago too. She is supposed to be calm and friendly and will talk to you. Since her trainer chose her out of all the greyhounds in the kennel to keep as a pet she must have a very special personality. Etta has a beautiful shiny coat. She is being fostered with small dogs and does well with them. She was initially a little interested in cats during her cat test but lost interest in them once one slapped her. We think she should be able to live with cats with a little training and supervision at first. Etta likes kids and has lived with one in her trainers home. |

Jewel just arrived from the Daytona Beach Kennel closing. She only raced 8 races at Daytona but had a long successful career racing at Sarasota, Orange Park and Tri State. She raced 114 races in all. Jewel just turned 4 on May 8th. Her sire is USS Raceway and her dam is PJ's Richmond. She is a very calm laid back girl that is very friendly. She rode nicely on the trip from the vet and hopped right into the vehicle. She passed her cat and small dog tests easily and has been around the children of her trainer at her racing kennel. She is being fostered with small dogs and several other breeds in her foster home. |

Fire is a white and brindle girl that came in from the Birmingham Race Track. She also raced at Daytona Beach and Palm Beach in Florida. She has 95 races to her credit. Fire raced at 61lbs and turned 3 on Feb 14th. Her sire is Djays Octane and her dam is Iruska Wild Side. She has a higher prey drive and did not pass her cat test and does seem to mistake very small dogs she doesn't know for bunnies too. She does better with medium sized dogs. She did do fine in her foster home even with a small dog once she got used to seeing him and knew what he was, so may be fine with them with supervision at first. Fire is a calm, confident, friendly girl. She happily checks out everything and then hurries back to be with people. She loves people the most. Fire takes everything in stride and is doing great in her foster home. She did seem to like the kids and all the people she met at PetSmart and did great there at her first meet and greet. Very friendly sweet girl! |

Gale came to us from the Birmingham Race Track. He is a beautiful black male that was shy and overwhelmed when he first arrived but warmed up to be friendly and sweet with his foster family. His sire is Gable Sour Cream and his dam is Lady Jeannine. Gale raced 79 races mostly at Birmingham but also briefly at Naples-Ft Myers in Florida. He only won 3 races in his career, but he did place some. He last raced October 1st and was at the track adoption kennel waiting for a group or adopter to take him for months before we got him. He was just a shy, black boy that got overlooked. He just turned 3 on March 1st and raced at 73lbs so is a mid-sized guy. Gale enjoys going for rides and gets in a vehicle and lays down for the trip, but is timid in new places and meeting new people so probably would do better with a family that didn't do a lot of traveling with their dogs. He is a very low key, calm guy that is more of a homebody since he is shy. He does cautiously go up to new people if given a little time to warm up. Gale has been fostered with us for some time now so should be an easy addition that is already home-acclimated. Gale was too interested in chasing kitties to be able to live with them. Although he initially tested fine with small dogs and does fine with them most of the time he needs a home without small dogs. Gale does OK in a home with just one or two other large dogs but too many dogs and activity makes him nervous. What he wants most is a family that will let him hang out with them at night. He loves to sleep in the room with his humans. Gale is a timid guy that wants a home that is quiet and low key like he is. He has a lot of love to give to his new family. |

Jackie is a 66lb, shiny, black-brindle female that was a trainer favorite at the track in Sanford Orlando. She also raced at Tri-State in West Virginia and Birmingham Alabama. She has 134 races listed. She turned 4 on April 11th. Her sire is the very famous Kiowa Sweet Trey and her dam is Tapped Out Tony. She is described as being a very friendly, playful girl that can be a little stubborn. She is a hugger that tried to give hugs to every person she met at the vet's office. She is gorgeous and has a lot of personality too, we can see why she was a favorite with her trainer at the track. She loves cuddles, marshmallows, milk bones, belly rubs and loves to play according to her trainer. She has been living in a foster home with a tiny bossy female dog and does fine. She passed her cat test easily. She is a smart girl that figured out how to get out of a metal crate pretty fast. She will need a plastic vari kennel that the airlines use since she is a bit of a houdini. She has done well with the kids she has met including a crying baby and just seems to love everyone. |

Chief is a mid sized guy that raced at 75lbs. He just retired from the Sanford Orlando race track but also raced at Palm Beach and Abilene KS. He was pretty good racing 121 races and getting up to the top A level briefly. Chief turns 4 on July 9th. His sire is the famous Stan's Boy Flyer and his dam is Site Forsoreeyes. Chief has a great personality that quickly turned him into a kennel and trainer favorite in his race kennels. This handsome boy has it all - personality and good looks. More as we get to know him. |

Ally just arrived from the Sanford Orlando Race Track where she raced 61 races. She is a flashy black girl with a white blaze on her face and white toes and chest. Very pretty! Ally's sire is Makeshift and her dam is JD Forever. She is a tiny girl that raced at just 52lbs. She is settling in well to foster care. She is interested in the cats but her foster family is working on training her to be around them so we still have her listed as testing until we get a better feel to how the training progresses. She is a kisser and a hugger so be prepared for lots of loving. No accidents in the house so far. Ally loves stuffed toys that squeak and loves to run around with them. She is young and doesn't turn 3 until September 28th. She still has just a little puppy in there. Ally is very focused on her people and wants to be with them. She does complain when kenneled and she can't get to her people so she may not be the best dog for apartment or townhouse living. |

Fallon is a beautiful, red brindle, girl that raced at Tri-State in West Virginia, Mardi Gras and Southland. She was a very good racer competing at the top level and even in Stakes races. She only had 45 races before she had a minor injury and was sent back to the farm to be a mom. Her last race was in June of 2013. Fallon had one litter of pups in 2015 but had difficulty having them and had to be spayed during the process. Her sire is the very famous Kiowa Sweet Trey and her dam is Kay V North. Fallon is a very calm, friendly girl that travels well and isn't phased by anything. She is pretty confident and not stressed by new surroundings so should adapt to a new home very well. She is a tall gorgeous girl that raced at 69lbs. She is the most chill, unflappable greyhound we have seen in awhile. Fallon is also the rare greyhound that loves to play fetch. She loves tennis balls and that is about the only time she gets really excited. Her adoptive mom reports that Fallon is good with cats, kids and small dogs. Fallon's DOB is March 11th 2011. |

David is a mid sized black male that raced at 69lbs. He just retired from the Birmingham race track after only 13 races. He didn't win any of his races so is already retired even though he won't turn two until September 16th. His sire is the very famous Kiowa Sweet Trey and his dam is Baysuperstitious. We placed his full sister from another litter named Ale Jessica Alba. David passed his cat and small dog test so should be able to live with either. David is a sweet, friendly boy that loves people. We have noticed that he can be a bit timid at first with men but warms up fast. He rode very well on the dog haul and was very calm. He is a bit of a marker but seems like a very well behaved boy that wants to please so we think he will figure out his potty training quickly with a little supervision. He pulls some on leash and then turns around and walks backward or sideways so he can see you while you walk. He still has a very silly pup side to him but he is calm and quiet in his kennel. He was being goofy and was making silly faces during his quick photo shoot right after being unloaded from the hauler so we need to take more pictures of him. |

Crow originally came from the Sanford Orlando race track but though some bad luck and no fault of his own has been in two adoptive homes already. He is a pretty brindle male that raced at 74lbs. He won't turn 4 until Oct 1st. His sire is Tim's Crow and his dam is Red Hot Victory. Crow is a very friendly, outgoing guy that was in his first home for about 5 months but they had to return him to us because of some serious health problems. He is being returned again to us again with his housemate Jazz now for financial reasons. It has been a hard decision for his current family because they really love the boys. Crow travels well and passed his cat test. So far he has crated quietly so we think he would be perfect for a townhouse or apartment living. He potties quickly on leash and was living in a home without a fenced yard so is used to being leash walked. Crow is a very playful fun guy that has enough energy to keep things fun and isnt a total couch potato like many greyhounds. Shortly after he was adopted the first time Crow broke one back leg. The leg is completely healed and you can't even tell where he was injured and he doesn't limp on it at all but he does have some pins in his leg. Crow is a very loving, friendly guy and what a cute guy! |

Taffy just arrived from the Birmingham Race Track where she only has two races listed. She raced at 58lbs and is a young girl that won't turn 2 until August 30th. Her sire is the very famous Kiowa Sweet Trey and her dam is HS Champagne. She passed her cat test with no interest at all in chasing the cats or small dogs so should be fine to live in a home with either. So far Taffy seems pretty calm and sweet and maybe just a little timid. She chose to stand by people rather than checking out everything or playing with the other dogs. She has adjusted well to her foster home and is happily laying on her back on a dog bed with all 4 legs in the air already. So she doesn't seem too stressed by the transition. She also did good with the kids she met at our Petco meet and greet and seemed to like them. Sweet, cute girl. |

Tiger is a flashy smaller boy, white with black spots. He raced at 67lbs. He only raced 31 races and turns 2 on June 22nd. Tiger's sire is a famous guy that one of our volunteers owns named Tiger Boy. His dam is Gable Burma. Tiger easily passed his small dog test. He was a little interested in the cat but a "No!" was all it took to make him lose interest in his first test. After that he showed no interest at all. Tiger seems like a calm guy that might be just a little timid at first in new situations. He is friendly with people and doing very well in foster care. He is quiet most of the time and well behaved. His personality is coming out more and more every day according to his foster mom. She says he is just adorable and very sweet. He did do well with the kids he met at his first meet and greet. |

His sire is the very famous Flying Penske and his dam is Coach Hogan. He raced 71 races in Birmingham. He just placed some at the lower levels and only ever won 4 races. Dagger did not pass his cat test so needs a home without cats. Dagger is pretty shy so far. More as we get to know him. |

Windows is arriving from Birmingham where she raced just 12 races. She is young, not turning 2 until October 15th. Windows is small, racing at just 56lbs, and we placed her sister flying Outlook recently. Her sire is the famous Flying Penske and her dam is Flying Excel. Windows is white with red spots. She did pass her cat and small dog tests without much interest in either so should be fine to live in a home with both. More as we get to know her. |

Mickey just arrived from Derby Lane with his littermate Luke Franklin. Mickey raced 114 races all at Derby Lane. He is a smaller brindle male that raced at just 65lbs. Although the two brothers can be hard to tell apart Mickey is a bit lighter red brindle than his brother and is the more outgoing of the two. His sire is Kelso's Fusileer and his dam is Pam Ford. We placed another of Pam Ford's pups named Bioelectric too. Mickey is a calm guy that is friendly and sweet. He passed his test with cats, small dogs and a baby. He just politely sniffed them and went on to check out other things in the house. He is 3 and won't turn 4 until November 20th. Mickey is adjusting to home life really well. He shadows his foster mom around everywhere and loves the 5-year-old little girl in his foster home. He is being fostered with a small dog and does fine with her too. He loves to play with toys. He is pretty quiet in his crate and does potty on leash so may be OK for apartment or townhouse living. Mickey seems like a calm well behaved guy. |

Haily is a cute black girl that grins when she is excited. Haily came in from the Birmingham Race Track where she retired back in December. She also raced in Florida at Derby Lane, Palm Beach, Naples-Ft. Myers and Flagler. She was a good racer racing at the top A level at most of those tracks. She even competed in Stakes races. She has 122 races listed and even got a 3rd place in her last race which was an A level race. Her sire is the very famous Flying Penske and her dam is Kiowa See Me Jan. She was too interested in cats to pass her cat test at the track. She was also was pretty excited about the small dog she met at the track so need some exposure to small dogs in foster care so she gets used to being around them. More as we get to know her. |

Angel went to the track but didn't do well in schooling races so retired very young at only 1.5 years old with no races listed. Her racing weight is listed as 64lbs. We originally got her from GAP NE Florida kennel at the Orange Park race track in Jacksonville. Her sire is Beyond The Chill and her dam is HD Cherry. She was pretty timid at first with us but warmed up to her family and turned into a wonderful loving devoted girl. Angel has been in a wonderful home for 2 years now but her owner's health is declining and can no longer take care of her dogs. She is heart broken at having to give Angel, Fargo and Lucy up. Lucy and Fargo have already been placed in new homes. Angel turned 4 on April 4th. She has wonderful house manners and loves to sleep on beds and couches. She has lived with a cat and slept curled up with it and is fine with small dogs. She is very loving and sweet with her family but very timid with strangers and in new situations. She is more of a homebody that prefers to hang out with her family and not go out. She will need some time and patience to warm up in her new home. She is quiet in her crate and feels comfortable there and will run there when she is afraid. She walks wonderfully on leash with other dogs but she is very fearful on leash, bolting around and trying to get back inside, if no other dogs are around. She would do best in a home with other dogs because she gains confidence from them and is a real follower. She is very overwhelmed and spooky and doesn't seem to know what to do if she doesn't have a dog to follow. This is a long legged, blonde bombshell. Look at all the eyeliner she is wearing! The photos are the ones we took when she first arrived but still looks about the same. She has put 12 lbs on so is on a diet now. |

Lorenzo just arrived from the Sanford Orlando Race track. He is a beautiful white boy with black spots that is an XL male racing at 83lbs. Lorenzo sire is the famous Flying Penske and his dam is Rodeo Lady. He was a pretty good racer that even raced in a few Stakes races at Derby Lane before being moved to Sanford Orlando. He raced 121 races. Lorenzo turns 4 on May 26th and hopes he is home to celebrate his birthday with his new family. Lorenzo can be a bit shy at first but warms up and will be a great sweet boy. His trainers say that once he warms up he has a lot of personality and is a real goof but is a very chill dude most of the time. We have lots of pictures that were taken of him at the track kennels. He has a special blanket that he had at the track that he loves that came with him. It helps him when he is stressed and we left it with him at the vets office. He is like Linus and needs his blanket. Lorenzo seems like a very sensitive boy that doesn't handle change well. Even though he was scared by everything new and pretty reserved he did come up to us for love. He did seem to be more stressed when he was away from the other greyhounds so he may be one that needs a home with other dogs. He did whine and bark some so may not be an apartment dog. Lorenzo is doing great in foster care and warmed up right away to his foster family. They just love him and say what a very special guy he is. |

Pat is a 67lb brindle female that just arrived from the Orlando Race Track. She has the cutest most versatile ears that were in a different position in every picture we took. Pat raced most of her 86 races at Tri-State Race Track in West Virginia though. Her sire is BD's Greyson and her dam is Craigie Ripit. Pat just turned 4 on April 19th. She is described as a very nice girl. She is very friendly and traveled well on the trip to the vet. She just laid down most of the way and did well with the other dogs. She did chew a chunk off her leash so we learned not to leave leashes on her during transport. She was pretty excited at the sight of some kittens at the vet's office but she hasn't been cat tested yet. |
