Prema just retired from the Orange Park Race Track in Jacksonville Florida. She raced 16 maiden races there, for dogs that have never won a race. She never did well and never actually managed to win a race, so was retired young. She just turned 2 on Feb 13th. Her sire is the very famous Kiowa Sweet Trey and her dam is Atascocita Golda. Prema is a tiny girl that raced at 56lbs. She is a friendly girl that wanted to snuggle with the people the whole time on her ride up from the track. She was hand picked by one of the trainers we work with for one of our adopters waiting on a dog, so is not available at this time. Prema has been fine with the small white dog in her foster home. More as we get to know her. |

Topper came to us in pretty bad shape. He is a tall, white boy with a couple of black spots on his face. The rest of him is white. He was registered to race but never actually had an official race so must have been adopted initially when he was around 2 years old. So it is likely he has been in a adoptive home for at least 6.5 years. We were able to identify him by his ear tattoos to get his racing name and he did have a tag on that said his call name was Topper. Since he doesn't have an official racing weight we don't know exactly what he should weigh but he is horribly thin now. Our vet thinks he should weight around 80lbs. Topper is tall for a male with a big head and extra long nose with a cute overbite. From what we can gather he was relinquished by his owners because they couldn't take care of him anymore. The person they gave him to, tied him out in their yard for at least a week according to their neighbors. That family turned him over to us when we asked for him. When Topper arrived he was very underweight, had lots of fleas, itchy skin and toenails that hadn't been trimmed in a very long time. Our vet checked him over and feels he is healthy in spite of being 20lbs underweight. He is heartworm negative. Topper was neutered already, and we gave him a fresh dental. Topper did not pay any attention to the cats at the vet clinic and seemed OK with a small white dog in his first foster home too. He goes right up to kids when he sees them too and seems to like them. He rides well in the car and crates well. He has only made a little noise in his kennel. He did great at the vet's office and calmly did everything asked of him and didn't seem to mind being handled. He seems like a very calm, sweet boy. He is putting on weight quickly and is gaining strength back after just a couple of weeks in his foster home. Topper turned 8 on July 24th, so that qualifies him for our reduced senior adoption fee of $200. His sire is the very famous Flying Penske and his dam is Arville. |

Steve just arrived from the Waverider Kennel at the Daytona Beach Race Track. He is a very young pup that never had an official race. He just didn't show much promise in training. He is a tiny brindle male that won't turn 2 until August 11th. We also got his sister Sakura in the same load. Steve's sire is Go Bon Hawk Talk and his dam is Rido's Honeybear. He was a little interested in the cat at first but corrected well so we think he may be trainable with supervision. He is used to being around kids because his trainer has several kids ages 5 to12 that help out in the kennel with the dogs. |

Vero just arrived from the Orange Park Race Track in Jacksonville FL. He only raced 8 races there and only won one of those. He was retired October 5th and has been waiting at the track adoption kennel for an adopter or a group to take him since then. Vero is a smaller male racing at 69lbs and is a gorgeous red color. He turned 3 on November 1st. His sire is M's Free Mason and his dam is M's Angle. Vero did not pass his cat test at the track so needs a home with no kitties. He is a super sweet boy with the softest silky ears. After a week in his foster home, he is still curious about everything and wants to be near his foster family, a velcro dog. He does the greyhound lean on you to get petted. He loves pancakes and fried chicken treats. His foster home says he is such a great dog that it is hard not to just keep him. Beautiful with a super personality to match! |

Penny just arrived from the Daytona Race Track where she raced all of her 93 races. She just raced her last race on December 10th. She just slowed down a bit and was coming in toward the back of the pack in her last few races, so was retired. Penny raced at 63lbs and turned 3 on September 17th. Her sire is WW Apple Jax and her dam is Oaks Black Betty. Penny is used to being around her trainer's children ages 5 to teen who help their mom take care of the dogs. Penny is timid at first with strangers, especially men and children she doesn't know. We think she would do better with older kids that are calmer and not moving so fast that wouldn't scare her while she is getting used to them. She is the rare greyhound that will actually bark at strangers so she is a pretty good watch dog. She is just going to warn you they are there though and will be too timid to actually try to protect the house. Since she is a vocal dog she is not going to be a good apartment dog. Penny seems to be more outgoing when she is with other greyhounds and will come right up to people when they do. She is more timid when she is alone, but seems like she will warm up pretty fast. Penny will bark and play bow while staying just out of reach at first but after a little while in her foster home she comes right up for snuggles and love. Penny passed her cat and small dog tests at the track so should be able to live with either. She really loves people that she knows and wants to be petted and loved often, she will just need a family that will give her time to warm up to them and get to know them. She does love to play ball, does stairs and has no issues with slick floors. She lets her foster parents know when she needs to go outside and is quiet in her kennel all night. |

Prince just arrived from the Orange Park Race Track in Jacksonville Florida. He raced 76 races and also raced at Wheeling Downs in WV. He did get up to A level and raced in a couple of Stakes races so was pretty good. Prince turned 3 on September 17th and raced at 72lbs. His sire is KC and All and his dam is Fanatic Cynthia. Prince passed his cat test at the track so should be fine to live in a home with cats and small dogs. Prince met some children and was Ok but was a little bit more reserved with them than some of the other dogs. He seems like he is a sensitive boy that can be a little bit unsure in new situations. He is doing great in his foster home. Very sweet boy! |

Belfry came to us from the Orange Park Race Track in Jacksonville FL. She wasn't a good racer and only won two of her 27 races. She is a cute, black girl with floppy ears. She weighs 65lbs and turned 2 on October 20th. Her sire is the famous Dodgem By Design and her dam is Whistler's Wrath. Belfry did pass her cat and small dog test so should be fine to live in a home with either. She is a friendly, sweet girl. So far she has been very quiet in her crate. She is friendly and happy with the cute little white spot on her chin that looks like she has been drinking milk. She pulls some on leash so her foster home is working on that. She has a gorgeous shiny coat and a very thick furry tail for a greyhound. She is stunning. Be sure to look at her other pictures to see a picture of her as a cute little puppy. |

Quik is a white male with black spots. He initially came in to us from the Orlando Race Track he also raced at Palm Beach and raced 76 races including a few Stakes races. HIs trainer described him as nice and calm and no problem in the kennel. Quik raced at 70llbs and his DOB is 12/16/2009 so he just turned 7. Quik passed his cat test so should be OK to live with cats or small dogs. His sire is TK Quick Strike and his dam is I'm Lovin It. Quick was adopted in 2013 and renamed "Snowball". After four years with his first family, they moved to a new house and he started having potty accidents in the new house so they sent him back to us to find a new family. It was just lack of potty training in the new home and he hasn't had even one accident in his foster home since we got him. Dogs don't generalize well so no matter how well house trained they are in one home they do need initial supervision and potty training when they go to a different house. There is no way for them to automatically know that the rules in all houses and buildings are the same without being shown. He had been living with four children in his former home and is very good with the kids in his foster home too. He will lay with his head in their laps and loves to cuddle with them on the couch. Quik potties on leash and has recently learned to go up and down steep indoor stairs so he would be OK being leash walked in a home without a fenced yard. This is a great chance to offer a home to a slightly older boy who is already a pet and home acclimated. The photos we have of him are from 4 years ago. |

She raced 134 races there and was very good, racing and winning at the top A level and even competing in a couple of Stakes races. Her last race was July 20th and she has been waiting at the track adoption kennel since then for someone to adopt her. Slam is a tiny girl that raced at just 55lbs. She just turned 4 on Jan 1st. Her sire is Little Andy and her dam is Kay Shivon Sally. Slam is a sweet friendly girl that passed her cat and small dog tests so should be able to live with either. More as we get to know her. |

Bishop just arrived from the Palm Beach Race Track. He is a gorgeous, 73lb black male with ears that stand straight up when he is curious about something. He raced only 14 races before injuring his leg in a fall on July 1st. His leg was fixed, splinted and rehabbed by a vet in Florida that worked with his racing owner and trainer. He is out of the splint now and healed up so was cleared to travel to our group to be adopted. He turned 2 on October 15th. His sire is Venus Espinosa and his dam is Kiowa Lee Philli. Bishop is a friendly, playful boy with a very cool personality. Bishop loves to go for rides in the car and is a very good traveler. He loves to run around and play with toys and his old leg injury doesn't seem to slow him down. He plays nicely with the other dogs in his foster home and is all about getting his people and his friends to play with him. Although he is silly and playful he does calm down. He is a very sweet, snuggly boy that is quiet in his kennel. He is going to be a fun boy for a lucky family. He did pass his cat test with no interest so should be fine to live with cats and small dogs. He will need to be discouraged from rough play with either though because of the size difference. He didn't even get excited when he saw rats at PetSmart so appears to be able to live with small animals. |

Annihilator is a sweet, white boy with red brindle spots that came in from the Melbourne Race Track. He raced most of his 13 races at the Dubuque Track though. He only won one of his races so was retired quickly. Annihilator is young and just turned 2 on Dec 30th His sire is JD Titanium and his dam is AllisonRacinTeam. He raced at 77lbs. Annihilator is a happy goofy guy. He is young and is very excited to check everything out on walks, so does pull some, but his foster family is working on that. He potties nicely on leash so doesn't required a fenced yard if his adoptive family is willing to walk him. Annihilator just sniffed the cat briefly during his cat test and is living with small dogs in his foster home so should be fine living with either. Handsome boy and such a fun personality. |

She is 4 years old and won't turn 5 until July 8th. She raced 160 races at Mardi Gras and Orange Park in FL, Dubuque IA, Birmingham AL, and at Southland in Arkansas. She is a well traveled girl. She was a pretty good racer getting up to A level. Her last race was October 19th and she has been at the track adoption kennel since then waiting on adoption. Crystal's sire is Star's Jenko and her dam is WW Crystal Karin. She passed her cat test so should be able to live in a home with cats or small dogs. Crystal's foster family has decided to keep her! |

Kahr is a sweet, friendly, red brindle female. She came in from the Daytona Beach race track with her sister Kimber, that we already placed. Kahr only raced 6 races and didn't win any of them so was retired at just 2 years old. She raced at 59lbs. Kahr turned 3 on October 21st. Her sire is JJB Good As Gold and her Dam is MJG Purse Buster. Kahr was adopted by her foster family a year ago, but was returned for her safety because a female pit bull in the home attacked her repeatedly. Kahr did nothing to initiate the attacks, the most recent was when she was sleeping. Her owners had taken in the pitbull from the streets and couldn't find her owners. Initially, they tried to find a rescue group that would take a dog aggressive pit, but had no luck. After several attacks, they made the tough choice to rehome their own dog Kahr for her safety, since the Pitbull didn't have the option of going to another home. Kahr travels well and has excellent manners and is already home acclimated. She is very loving and sweet and her owners loved her very much. Kahr passed her cat and small dog tests so should be able to live with either. Kahr was badly injured in the attack and spent over a week at the vets and has many many staples, stitches and open areas that can not be stitched. She had a long healing process with frequent visits to our vet and bandage changes but finally was released by our vet to go home. Her photos here are the ones taken a year ago before she was attacked. |

Stephanie initially came in from the Birmingham Race Track's adoption kennel where she raced at 61lbs. She raced 165 races and was good, getting up to the top A level. She raced most of her races in Birmingham but also raced briefly at Melbourne, Sarasota, Mardi Gras, Palm Beach, Naples-Ft Myers, Flagler and Tri State Tracks. She has done a lot of traveling! She was adopted in December of 2015 so has been in an adoptive home for a year. Stephanie turned 5 on August 25th. She is a friendly girl that passed her cat and small dog tests and has been living with small dogs in her adoptive home. Her family has been calling her Nile for the last year. They are returning her because of a change in their work schedule. Stephanie is a calm, sweet girl. She was a little overwhelmed when she first arrived but quickly gained confidence and ended up being the dominant female in her pack. Stephanie is very outgoing and friendly now like she was when we met her at her race kennel. She is good on leash and very sweet. She is a beautiful dark brindle with cute floppy ears. Her sire is the very famous Kiowa Sweet Trey and her dam is USS Wild Times. She can be grumpy about her space when she is laying down on a bed so she would need to be placed with no kids or kids old enough to understand not to bother her when she is laying down. |

Ivanka came in from the Melbourne Fl Race Track. She only raced two of her 24 races at Melbourne and raced most of her races at Palm Beach. She only won 2 races, that we could find, so was retired young and just turned 2 on January 12th. She is a white girl with black spots that raced at 60lbs. Her sire is Djays Octane and her dam is Julia WW Gilda. Her entire litter was named for the Trump family. Ivanka was overwhelmed when she first arrived and didn't do well at the vet's office. She would hide in the back of her crate and was really stressed. She is normally a friendly, submissive girl though. Just needs some time to gain her confidence back in a new stressful situation. She does ride well in a car and crates nicely and quietly. Since she gets stressed with a lot of handling at first, she may do better in a home with older kids and not little loud children. Ivanka did pass her small dog test so should be fine to live in a home with them. Ivanka was adopted on Trump's Inauguration day. |

Brindle Bop is not actually brindle at all but he got his name from the Brindle Kennel he raced for. He is actually a handsome fawn boy who was called Felix at the track. He just arrived from the Palm Beach Race Track, where he raced 63 races. Felix won a few races mainly at the lower levels. His sire is Bella Infrared and his dam is Akeelah. He turned 3 on July 24th and raced at 73lbs. Felix easily passed his small dog test and is living with a small dog in his foster home. He his a very content boy and is doing great in his foster home. He tries to help with the laundry by taking dirty socks to his bed and laying on them. If we could only teach him how to fold laundry! He is a very happy sweet boy that wants to please and wants nothing more than to be with his people. He crates very well and is quiet in his kennel. |

Schmidty came in from the Boltons in Orlando Florida at the end of September. He raced 46 races at the Sanford Orlando Race Track. Schmidty was adopted shortly after he arrived but was returned quickly because his family had a new baby. They said Schmidty had shown some protectiveness over his space when laying down so they didn't feel that he would be good with the baby in 6 months when it started crawling. His foster home has laid down with him and intentionally gotten in his space and bothered him while he was laying down since he has been back. She can find no hint of any space issues, in fact, after you invade his space and start to move away from him, he tries to get you to come back and snuggle with him. We have him listed as older kids based on what his owners stated even though we have seen none of that behavior. Schmidty is a calm, friendly, extra large boy that raced at 84lbs. He likes to travel and just wants to rest his head on your shoulder to snuggle. His sire is Flying Coal City and his dam is Kentucky Ashley. He turned 3 on September 22nd. Schmidty passed his cat and small dog tests at the track so should be fine to live in a home with either. He is being fostered with cats in his foster home too. |

Dream just arrived from the Daytona Beach track where she raced over half of her 135 races. She also raced at Derby Lane in St Pete FL. She has been retired since August 31st, waiting on a spot to open up with an adoption group. She is a tiny, black female that raced at only 54lbs. She turned 4 on November 23rd. Her sire is Extruding Dream and her dam is Frankly Scarlett. Dream is used to being around kids ages 5 - teen. Her trainers children help in the kennel often. Rhoda is very friendly. She is very alert and seems to be a fun, happy, playful, girl. Rhoda does need some work on leash manners because she gets excited and wants to check out everything at first and pulls some. She is a super cute girl with stand up ears. Rhoda is mostly quiet in her kennel but has made some noise. She was curious about a cat during her cat test but corrected easily so seems like she would be OK with some supervision at first. |

Boston came in from the Palm Beach Race Track where she raced 39 races. She only won two of those races and placed in a few others. But for the most part she finished toward the back of the pack. She raced at 66lbs. Her sire is Lord Dempsey and her dam is JG Mystique. She turned 2 on May 6th. Boston is a cute, sweet girl that seems pretty calm and well behaved for 2 years old. She passed her small dog test without any interest in them and has been living with a cat. She is mostly quiet and well behaved but does complain a bit about being left alone in a kennel so wouldn't be the best choice for apartment living. She was briefly with an adoptive family as an only dog and didn't seem happy there when she was left alone. We think she needs a family with at least one other dog to hang out with. She does get along very well with other dogs. She is a very sweet loving girl that is so adorable! |

Bobo is a very tall, fawn male that just arrived from the Daytona Beach Race Track. He raced 175 races there and at Orange Park. He was a good racer and won a lot of races. Bobo is a larger male that weighs 79lbs. He is a tall narrow guy that is very tall for his weight. His sire is the very famous Flying Penske and his dam is Kiowa Kelly Ann. He turned 4 on March 20th. Bobo is used to being around kids, his trainer has 4 kids and takes them to the kennel with her. Bobo was a favorite of his trainer and followed her around "helping" her in the kennel. He is missed very much and she would love to keep in touch with his new owners. This is a very special boy, whose sweet, devoted personality made him stand out in a kennel with over 100 dogs in it. He will need an extra tall 48 inch crate because his back will touch the top of the regular sized 48 inch crate. Bobo needs some work work walking on leash because he is curious about everything and wants to go check things out. He has a lot of personality and isn't a total couch potato like most greyhounds so will need some exercise in a fenced yard or better yet, daily walks. |

Toker is a 66lb red female that came in from the Goodman Kennel in Orlando. She was a very good racer racing at the top A level and winning a lot of her 182 races. Her last race was July 30th. Her trainer's family bought her as a puppy and had her most of her life. They were hoping to be able to keep her as a pet when she retired but that didn't work out. So we were able to get a very very sweet girl to place. She has a wonderful personality and really loves her people. She passed her cat and small dog test with no interest in either. She is living with cats in her foster home and is doing great with them. She is living with kids in her foster home too and seems to really like them - the youngest kid is 8. Her sire is the very famous Kiowa Sweet Trey and her dam is USS Opportunity. She turned 4 on April 28th. Toker does have dry eye so will probably need inexpensive daily eye drops. Toker loves to go for rides in the car. She crates quietly and has adjusted very well to pet life. She has not had a single potty accident in the house, even when her foster family has slept in a bit. She is such a great girl! |

Retail is a retired brood mom that had one litter of 4 puppies after a successful racing career of 77 races. She came in with her daughter Issabelle Izzy (Trista) who has already been adopted. Retail raced at Orange Park in Jacksonville FL and Derby Lane. Her sire is DK's Prime Time and her dam is T Dazzle. She is a short girl that weighs 60lbs. She turned 6 on Nov 25th. We placed two of her littermates already, Emo and Set Force. They are wonderful girls so we were excited to get Retail too. She does want to chase cats so can't live with them. She has been fine with two small furry dogs in her foster home and seems like she gets along really well with other dogs. Retail is a sweet girl that loves everyone she meets, especially women. When a woman comes in she will bounce and sometimes give them a hug. Retail is very happy and sweet and her tail wags often. She has the confidence of most mama dogs and not much bothers her. Retail has a gorgeous dark brindle, glossy coat. Really a stunning girl! She can be playful and silly but calms down quickly and turns into the typical lazy greyhound. Retail really does not like being crated but has done fine in her foster home without one and has good house manners. Retail has been in an adoptive home but didn't do well with the toddler in the home after the first month so was returned. Although she normally likes kids, she can be possessive with toys if kids try to take them away from her so she needs a home with no kids now. |

Beca is a gorgeous, red, girl that just retired from the Palm Beach Race Track. She raced at Derby Lane before moving to Palm Beach. She raced 40 races total and never was really good. She had a minor injury in April and was rested and rehabbed until November when she started running again. After a few races that didn't go too well, they decided to just retire her. Not sure what the injury was because she has no sign of it now. Her sire is Ben Awhile and her dam is KB's Kazoo. She will turn 3 on December 10th. Beca was afraid of the cat and wouldn't go near it during her cat test. If we tried to take her to the cat her legs would start to tremble and she would go the other way. So she would probably be fine in a home with a cat and would not try to chase it. Beca has settled into her foster home very well and is very sweet, friendly and loving. She does have a couple of large scars on her side from one of her littermates playing too rough. |

Thunder came in from a farm in Florida. He raced at Orange Park and Sanford Orlando Race tracks in Lester Raines Kennel but retired on September 15th of 2016. He was pretty good for a big guy getting up to A level quickly. He raced 71 races. After he retired he was sent to a farm until an adoption group could take him. Thunder is an extra large guy that raced close to 90lbs. He just turned 3 on November 3rd. His sire is Tyrur Alex and his dam is Dutch Camilla. He is a sweet boy that is very friendly. His whole body wags when he sees someone and he wants to go up to each person he sees for attention. He seems like a great guy with a lot of personality that may excel as a meet and greet dog or even a service dog. He travels well too. Thunder came in for one of our foster homes who had recently had a dog pass away. She wanted another big black boy and fell in love with Thunder right away and is keeping him. Thunder loves to play with balls and is very good at fetch. He gets along well with other dogs and has lived with a variety of other breeds of dogs, large and small. |

She was a very good racer getting up to the top A level at Southland which is one of the top tracks in the country. He just needs a little more healing time before being allowed to run around with other dogs. He barely has a limp now and is expected to make a full recovery and will be able to play, go for walks and enjoy normal pet activities. He is a 75lb brindle boy that turned 2 on October 6th. Stihl just arrived from the Daytona Race Track. He never actually had an official race there and didn't complete his race training. He just didn't have the desire to chase the lure. He also doesn't have any desire to chase cats or small dogs, so can live with either. His foster home even has chickens and he was only mildly interested in them. He came to us with his littermates Bryant and Benton. Their sire is Abita Simon and his dam is Magic Patti. He is one of the smaller boys we have ever placed at only 63lbs. He is a pretty red boy with some dark sabling on his ears and face. A very handsome boy. Stihl won't turn 2 until April 9th so he is very young. The boys are all friendly and sweet. Stihl needs work on stairs and leash manners because he is young and hasn't been out and about yet much. His trainer said that they didn't put the brothers out with the other males because they would let the other males pick on them and bully them. The brothers were whimpy, so when they went outside, they had their own private family only turn out. We are not trying to place the brothers together because of the number, but if you are looking for two boys that are bonded you could choose two of them. They are all in separate foster homes and we think they will be fine being placed by themselves as well. Stihl's trainer brings her kids to work with her so he is used to being around kids from 5 to teen. |

Edward just arrived from the Palm Beach Race Track. He raced 24 races there and only won 5 of those. He broke his leg in his last race on October 27th so was retired. His leg was set and casted at the track kennel and he stayed there until his splint came off. His leg is very good now and his cast is off. He just needs a little more time before being allowed to run around much. His leg should be fine and it shouldn't stop him from playing, going for walks or other normal pet activities. He is a handsome white boy with brindle spots that raced at 74lbs. His sire is Aerial Battle and his dam is KL Elaborate Eva. We placed two other pups from the same mom - different litter named LB's Red Chariot and LB's Busy Work. Edward turned 2 on October 14th. He passed his small dog test so should be able to live with them. More as we get to know him. |

Lucky initially came in from the Orlando Race Track. He is a tall, handsome guy with beautiful brindle markings and an unusually dark face. Lucky raced 74 races at Flagler, Naples Ft Myers and the Orlando race tracks. He mainly was competitive at the lower racing levels but won some races. Lucky's sire is Dauntless and his dam is Fuzzys Donna. He raced at 77lbs and is a littermate to a sweet boy we already placed named Fuzzys Cam Neely. He turned 4 years old on June 12th. Lucky travels well and is a very friendly, happy, guy that loves people. He did great with the 11 month old toddler in his first foster home. He was a little curious and tried to sniff the cat when he met it but was met with a slap. After the one cat slap he wouldn't get near the cat again so seems like he will be very respectful in a home with resident cats. Lucky has been in an adoptive home since February but his owner had to move back in with his parents and their dogs so has been forced to rehome Lucky. He lived with another male greyhound for nearly a year. Lucky is a confident guy that is very outgoing and sweet. He can be a little pushy or dominant when playing with other dogs so would need to be placed in a home with another male that was more submissive like his previous greyhound buddy or a female. |

Wendy just arrived from the Naples Ft Myers track in Florida. She raced 91 races. She raced most of her races at Bluffs Run in IA, then moved to Mardi Gras, Flagler and on to Naples Ft Myers. She generally raced at the lower racing levels and did more placing than winning. She won a few races though. She is a beautiful, 66lb, white girl with brindle spots. She turned 4 on September 8th. Her sire is Pat C Game Face and her dam is Yo My Ladylynne. She is a pretty friendly girl. She was afraid of the cat when we tested her and didn't even want to sniff it. She was a little more interested in a small fast moving white dog but we think she will be trainable with some exposure because she did lose interest after she figured out what it was. |

Gold comes to us from the Brindle Kennel at Palm Beach Race Track, where she never had an official race because they quickly realized that she just wasn't going to have the speed or interest to be a successful racer. She is very young and won't even turn 2 until January 6th. Her sire is DJays Octane and her dam is Cry Hope. Gold is playful and loves to run and play since she is still young. She is very curious and wants to check out everything but is learning to walk nicely on leash. Gold passed her small dog test easily so should be fine to live with small dogs. Gold is very sweet, outgoing and gorgeous! She isn't worried or stressed by much and loves adventure. If you are looking for a young, friendly greyhound, this may be your girl! Gold isn't going to be a good choice for an apartment because she does complain about being left alone in her kennel. Gold was in an adoptive home briefly but was too interested in their cats so needs a home with no kitties now. She has a fondness for the young grandson in her foster home so may do well in a home with kids. Because of her young age and curiosity she would do best in a home that uses a crate when they aren't home to supervise. Gold is a very smart greyhound that has figured out how to open crates and even doors in her foster home and can be a bit of a houdini. A plastic Vari Kennel, like they use on airplanes, is pretty escape proof and may be the best kennel for a girl like her. Gold is going to bond strongly with her family, smart enough to learn anything her humans teach her, and ready for whatever adventure they have planned. We think she would be an awesome dog for a family that wanted to do obedience or agility with a dog because she is so smart. She reminds her foster mom of her border collie. Because she is still young, Gold needs an owner who will continue working with her on the manners and rules that she is learning in her foster home. Gold may do fine in a home as an only dog, she seems more interested in playing and interacting with people than other dogs so far. |

Ihop just arrived from the Goodman Kennel at the Sanford Orlando Race Track. She raced at 58lbs and ran 102 races. She also raced at Bluffs Run, Naples Ft Myers and Palm Beach Tracks before moving to Sanford Orlando in May of 2015. She is a sweet black female that turned 3 on March 27th. Her sire is the very famous Flying Penske and her dam is Boc's Slim N Fit. She seems like a friendly happy girl. She was quiet in her kennel when she arrived. She passed her cat and small dog tests at the track. Ihop's foster home has quickly fallen in love with her and is planning to keep her. |

Andy is a gorgeous dark, red boy that has such a happy-go-lucky personality that his racing owners say that he has never had a bad day. He is happy all the time. He is a smaller male that raced at 67lbs. His sire is Flying Penske and his dam is AMF Sweet Betty. He is a littermate to two sweet girls we placed AMF Sugar Sugar and AMF Sugar Sweet. Andy turned 4 on June 8th. He raced 153 races at Palm Beach and at Wheeling Downs. Andy has done great in foster care, quickly learning the house rules. He is a very friendly boy and is indeed one of the happiest guys his foster mom has had. One of his two foster homes had a small white Italian Greyhound that he did well with. He passed his cat test easily too. He did want to sniff the cat to see what it was, but after the cat slapped him, he wouldn't even look at it again. He gets along well with other dogs. When he gets excited, he occasionally does a greyhound grin. Andy was placed in a home with kids for a month and was good with them until one fell on him. He was returned to us at that time to find another home. We feel he would do better in a home with no children because he has shown that he does have some issues with his space when laying down. One of Andy's foster moms jogged and walked with him and he loved that. You set the pace and doesn't vary and keeps up very well for short jogs. Andy is quiet in his crate and seems like he would be an excellent apartment or townhouse dog. |

Odessa just arrived from Goodman Kennels at the Sanford Orlando Race Track. She raced at 58lbs so is a small girl. She only raced 33 races. She raced most of her races at Southland in Arkansas and only has been in Orlando since July. She turned 2 on April 12th. Her sire is Kiowa WW Brother and her dam is SE's Goin Skiddn. Odessa is a friendly but sensitive girl that seemed a little overwhelmed when she first arrived. She doesn't like to go in her crate and cries some once crated so probably won't be a good apartment dog. She passed her cat and small dog tests at the track so should be OK with either. She was initially afraid of stairs but has learned how to do them since arriving in foster care. She is a gorgeous, little girl that just needed a little time to relax in her foster home. She walks well on leash and potties on leash so doesn't require a fenced yard. She corrects easily if she does anything wrong. Odessa really likes people and wants to be with them. During the drive to the vet she tried to climb up into the front seat to help drive. Sweet girl! |

Leonard is named for the Big Bang Theory star. He just arrived from the Goodman Kennel at the Sanford Orlando. He also raced at Orange Park in Jacksonville. Leonard only ever won 1 race and mostly finished toward the back of the pack. He raced at 73lbs and will turn 3 on March 5th. His sire is Hi Noon Hero and his dam is WW Adore's Me. Leonard is a friendly, happy boy. He is usually pretty quiet in his crate but does occasionally make a little noise. Like a lot of boys, he will need some supervision at first in a new home because he did try to mark at first in his foster home. He enjoys being outside as much as inside and travels well. He is doing well with the small white dog in his foster home and was scared of a kitten that hissed at him at the vet's office. He seems like a really nice boy that will settle in about anywhere and SO gorgeous! Leonard is a little nervous around a toddler that visits his foster home frequently and backs away from him. He probably wouldn't be the best choice for a family with very small kids. |

Johnny came in initially from the Boltons in Orlando, Florida. He is a big, friendly, outgoing boy that weighs 82.5 lbs. He just turned two on Halloween. He is registered as black but on closer look, he is actually a dark black brindle. His dam is Kentucky Merlot and his sire is Golden Squire. He has no races listed and was retired early. He passed his cat and small dog tests at the track so should be fine to live with either. Johnny was picked as a good candidate for service dog work. He was in an adoptive home for just a little while and was returned recently because he wasn't good with their tiny dogs walking and jumping on him. Like most dogs, he doesn't like to be stepped on or bothered by other dogs of any size when laying down on a bed. |

He mainly finished toward the back of the pack. Mason is an extra large male that raced at 83lbs. He is a gorgeous, tall, white male with brindle spots. He turned 2 on April 27th. HIs sire is the famous Kiowa Mon Manny and his dam is Sarah Julia. He passed his small dog test at the track. Is a sweet, friendly boy that loves to snuggle with people. Very sweet. |

Abby just retired from the Sanford Orlando Race Track where she raced for the Goodman Kennel for a short time. She raced most of her 85 races at Orange Park and a few more at Bluffs Run Tracks. Abby didn't win many races and tended to place more at the lower racing levels. She raced at 62lbs. Abby just turned 3 on Nov 20th. Her sire is Djays Octane and her dam is Barts Good To Go. Abby passed her cat and small dog tests so should be able to live with either. She also seems to be comfortable around children. |

Armor originally came in from a kennel closing at the Daytona Beach race track. He also raced at Sanford Orlando and Derby Lane race and has 66 races listed. It doesn't look like he won one race but he did place some. His sire is Bob's Skeet and his dam is Prairies Eagle. Armor turned 4 on June 24th. He is very calm, friendly and well behaved. Armor is a tall, leggy guy that raced at 76lbs. Armor is very good on leash and enjoys going for walks. He has already been living in a apartment and is very quiet in his kennel so would be perfect for someone needing a quiet apartment dog. He was also living as an only dog for a year so should also be an excellent choice for someone that wants an only greyhound. His trainer had 3 older children that work at the kennel with her and he was very good with them. His recent owner said Armor usually chooses to avoid real small loud kids though. Armor can be a bit grumpy about his space when laying down, so we have him listed as no kids even though he enjoyed being around the older kids that worked with him at the kennel. Armor passed his cat and small dog tests easily with no interest in chasing either. He is doing fine with the small dog in his foster home too. Armor is a grinner! It is a cute thing that just a few greyhounds do when they are happy or excited. He also has one other quirky thing about him - he can wag his tail straight up and down as well as side to side! Armor has been in an adoptive home for a little over a year so is already home acclimated, well behaved and has good house manners. The only reason he is available again is because his dad took a job that forces him to travel every week. Armor has been boarded a lot recently and his dad feels it isn't fair to him. If you want a tall handsome boy Armor could by your guy. Armor has settled in well to his foster home. He is a very nice boy that seems like he would be an easy addition for some lucky family. Such a laid back guy, but he does love to get silly and do zoomies occasionally in the backyard. Very friendly and loving. |

She only raced 19 races and did win some races and did pretty good. Her sire is Pat C Clement and her dam is Kiowa WW Rivera. Hypnotized is a friendly, happy girl with a tail that wags a lot. She passed her small dog test and is living in a foster home with a small dog. She will turn 2 on December 11th so she is still a pretty young girl. She loves people and seems like a very sweet girl. |

Astro retired from Palm Beach race track where he only raced one maiden race. He was so far behind the other dogs in that race that he wasn't even in the picture. Astro may not have been a great racer like his famous dad, Dodgem By Design, but he is going to be a great pet. He has a friendly, outgoing personality. His mom's name was Jinnie and Tonic. Astro is young and just turned 2 on April 1st. He was in an adoptive home with children for a month or two but we decided he would do better in a home with no kids after he showed that he could be possessive over toys and his space with the youngest of the two kids. Astro has been very well behaved in his foster homes and they haven't reported seeing that behavior. He has been fostered for awhile so already has good house manners and is home acclimated. |

Babs was good racer that got up to the top AA Level at Tri State in WV and then went to Wheeling in WV. She retired in September of 2011 from racing to a second career as a mother. She was moved to Kansas and had a total of 20 pups in 3 litters in 2012, 2014 and 2015. Babs raced at 68lbs. Her sire is the famous Kiowa Sweet Trey and her dam is Kiowa Brownsugar. Babs turned 8 on March 26th. She moved to the Birmingham Track Adoption Kennel in hopes of finding a good home in March of this year and is still looking. She has become a favorite of the staff there and even traveled with them when they delivered dogs to other adoption groups. We met Babs on her way back from a trip up to Maine and decided to bring her in to one of our foster homes. Because of her travels Babs has been in homes, hotels, has camped and traveled in a big box truck. Nothing seems to bother her and she loves traveling and meeting people. She kennels well and enjoys life. Babs did not pass her cat test so needs a home with no cats. She gets along well with medium to large dogs but has had mixed results with very small dogs that move fast. She was very good with one she met, but she wanted to chase some others. Although she was a good mom, and fine with her small puppies, we think she would do better in a home without small dogs that look like squirrels or bunnies. Although she did have some potty accidents when she first arrived, Babs has quickly gotten over that and no longer has any accidents in her foster home. Because she is 8 years old, Babs qualifies for our reduced $200 adoption fee. Babs is a bouncy, happy girl with an excellent, confident personality and a lot of it. She happily bounces to meet any guests that come over and her foster home is working on getting her to tone her greetings down a bit. She may be an older girl, but no one told her that. Babs would be perfect for a family that travels a lot and wants a dog that can go with them. She is a waggy, happy girl! |

Almond just arrived from the Daytona race track on October 19th. She also raced part of her 53 races at Orange Park and Wheeling Downs. Almond has been retired since May 12th so has been in her trainer's kennel at the track waiting for some time for a group to take her. She is 61lb very light fawn female that turned 3 on May 17th. Her sire is Little Andy and her dam is WS White Sale. She is used to being around the kids of her trainer at the racing kennel. They help their mom with turnouts and feeding the dogs. Almond is a sweet girl that passed her cat test with just a little initial interest. She lost interest quickly though. She has been fine with the cats in her foster home since she walked in. Almond is a pretty calm, well behaved girl that is perfect on leash. She enjoyed snuggling with her foster mom when she laid down near her on the floor. More as we get to know her. |

Showy is a beautiful, black, female greyhound that doesn't look 8 years old at all. She hardly has any gray on her face and is a real beauty. She raced 94 races at Mobile, Bluffs Run and Palm Beach. She got up to the top A level. She raced at 66lbs and just turned 8 on April 10th. Her sire is the famous Trent Lee and her dam is WW's Kool Show. Showy was sent back to the farm after her racing career was over to be a mom. She had a litter of 11 puppies in January of 2013 that are racing now. She also just weaned a litter of puppies. She came to us from the farm in Abilene Kansas and is ready for her own couch, after retiring from her second career. She is friendly and happy meeting people and is curious about her surroundings and not a bit timid. She can be a bit bossy and is quick to correct wild puppy behavior as you would expect from a momma dog. She seems like a confident, happy girl. She has been living with cats and she showed no prey drive toward a small white dog in her foster home. Because Showy is an older girl she qualifies for our reduced adoption fee of $200. |

Hollow is an outgoing, happy girl that raced at 64lbs. She is white with brindle spots. Hollow just arrived from the Daytona Beach Race Track on October 19th. She raced all of her 90 races at Daytona Beach. Her last race was in May so she has been waiting for some time for an adoption group to take her. Hollow raced at 64lbs but has put on some weight since she retired and is a bit on the pudgy side now according to her trainer. She loves to eat. She turned 3 on February 5th. Her sire is the famous Kelsos Fusileer and her dam is WW's Deathvalley. Like all of the dogs from this kennel she is used to having the children of her trainer, ages 5 to 11, working with her and handling her. She passed her cat test at the kennel and should be fine to live with cats and small dogs. She is a very outgoing happy girl that wags a lot and even does the famous greyhound grin! She is a bouncy happy girl that is a bit higher energy. Hollow complained some the first night after she arrived, so may not be the best choice for apartment or townhouse living. More as we get to know her. |

Ramsey is a white male with big black spots that raced at 74lbs. He just arrived from Daytona Beach on October 19th. He raced 75 races all at that track and has been retired since March 22nd waiting on an adoption group to take him. Ramsey turned 3 on February 25th. His sire is Mama's Special Ed and his dam is SE's Vonnie C. Ramsey has dry eye and needs eye drops for that condition according to our vet. He is a very calm well behaved boy. He is used to being around his trainer's kids ages 5-11 that help out at the kennel. Ramsey was a little interested in the first cat he met, but quickly lost all interest after the cat slapped him. He has been wonderful with the fluffy white cat in his foster home so we think he would do well in a home with cats. He should also be fine to live with small dogs. He is a sweet, calm boy that should be an easy first or third greyhound. |

Vegas is an extra tall black male that raced at a thin 83lbs. For his weight, he has long legs, narrow body and tiny head. His back is hip high and he is as tall as some of our tallest 90+ lb boys. He is a super sweet boy that earned the nickname "Velcro" at the adoption kennel at the Birmingham Track. He would follow their staff around as they were working and lean on them every chance he got. He loves people. Vegas raced 116 races at a bunch of different tracks. Starting out at Mardi Gras, then Naples Ft Myers, Flagler then Palm Beach. He never actually raced in Birmingham but we got him from that track adoption group. Vegas is a very calm guy that is good on leash. He turned 4 years old on April 2nd. His sire is Flupa's Crackerbox and his grandsire Dave the Dog actually retired and lived in Piedmont SC, so we knew him too. His dam is Super By Design. Vegas needs to be tested with cats but he was fine with the the small dog in his foster home. Because of his extra large size, Vegas will need an extra tall 48 inch long crate. The standard 48" inch long crates are only 32 inches high and his back rubs on the top. He needs an extra tall 48" long crate that is 36" high or a 54 inch long great dane size crate that is even higher. Vegas travels really well. He was pretty loud in his kennel the first night but settled and has been quiet since so may be OK as an apartment dog. Vegas was diagnosed with Pannus which is an eye problem pretty common in greyhounds that can cause blindness if not treated with daily eye drops. The eye drops are not expensive and should control the disease if given daily. He should avoid long term sun exposure because that can make the eyes worse. He would look very cute in a pair of doggles (doggy sunglasses). His eyes look fine and it isn't something that the average person would even notice. It was caught very early and there is only a very tiny spot on the corner of one eye. |
