Buffy never raced. She is a very young girl that won't turn 2 until October 29th. She broke her leg on the farm before she got to the track. She had surgery to repair her leg on April 26th. Buffy is with Pro Greyhound for her vetting and rehab and will be on vet hold until her leg heals completely, then she will be placed through our group. Buffy is expected to make a full recovery and be able to run around and play normally. Pro Greyhound is a 501C3 organization that pays for surgeries of injured greyhounds with fundraising. If you would like to make a donation towards Buffy's care here is their contact information. Buffy's sire is Jax Manny and her dam is Jax Ginger. Buffy is a sweet, friendly girl that is handling her vetting really well. She is playful and very happy. Buffy is healing up well and just needs time for her leg to get strong. She will be on vet hold until the end of June at least and may need leash walked for longer before being allowed to run around and play. |

Friend just arrived from the Brindle Kennel at the Palm Beach Race Track. She started racing at the Tucson Track before it closed. Then she moved to Palm Beach, Mardi Gras and Naples Ft Myers for a total of 97 races. So she has traveled around a good bit. She was a pretty good racer staying at the top A level for awhile. We are very excited to get Friend because we placed her littermate Frosty a year or so ago. Friend is a tiny girl racing at just 54lbs. Her sire is Coldwater Torres and her dam is Cruzin the City. She turns 4 on August 2nd. Friend is a very happy friendly girl that seemed to do fine on the haul and take everything in stride. Very sweet girl. Friend is completely vetted and ready to be adopted. She has been great with the kids and small dogs she has met so should be fine to live with either. She still needs testing with cats. |

Maddie was initially adopted through another group that has allowed us to re-home her. She was abandoned by her owners a couple of months ago at a boarding kennel. They never returned to pick her up after boarding her there and all attempts to reach them were ignored. So now this sweet older gal is looking for a home. When we took her in, she had a mouth full of bad teeth that had caused her to have difficulty eating and some weight loss. We had her vetted and all the bad teeth pulled so she is feeling much better now. She also had blood work done and appears to be a healthy girl. Maddie is adorable with a very unique roman nose and half a tail. She never raced and was in her previous home since she was very young. She is living with small dogs in her foster home and lived with a male husky in her previous home- he was also abandoned at the boarding kennel. She also passed her cat test without any interest. Maddie just turned 9 on March 28th. Her sire is Super Lee and her dam is Jax Cleopatra. Because she is a senior, Maddie qualifies for our reduced senior adoption fee of $200. Maddie is a sweet, friendly girl that is calm and well behaved. She has been going outside to do her business at her foster home like a good girl. She kennels quietly so would probably be a very good choice for an apartment. This sweet, well behaved girl is a one of a kind that will stand out in every crowd of greyhounds. Maggie had only months in her new home and passed away suddenly on November 20th 2017 from a ruptured splenic mass. |

Special Needs - Seizures! Roar came in from the Orange Park Race Track Adoption Kennel in Jacksonville Florida. He raced 53 races there. Roar wasn't a great racer, racing mainly in the C and D levels but he did win his last race on Dec 3rd of 2016. He was retired then because he had a seizure in the kennel. We were hopeful that the seizure was a one time thing. He didn't have any more seizures until an episode of multiple seizures on March 13th and 14th. Roar is currently on 2 seizure medications that have done a good job of controlling his seizures since then. Roar is a little guy that raced at just 66lbs. He is very calm and well behaved and completely vetted already. He travels well and is super sweet. Roar kennels well and loves his crate and would be an excellent only dog because he has no problem with being left alone. He is excellent with other dogs too though. His sire is the very famous Flying Penske and his dam is Lee Judy. Roar will turn 3 on June 26th. He is a very good foster, 'perfect" according to his foster mom. The rare times Roar does anything he shouldn't, he responds well to gentle corrections. He is a very sweet, easy, gentle, guy that would be a great first or third greyhound. He gets along great with all the dogs he has met so far. He also passed his cat and small dog tests so should be fine to live with either. Roar just recently went on a beach trip with his foster mom. He did great traveling and enjoyed 2 mile beach walks with her. Roar is a wonderful, friendly, happy boy that couldn't be any sweeter! One of his littermates took the tip off of one of his ears when he was young. Roar does need midday meds, so needs an owner that can come home on their lunch break or a stay at home owner. This is a sweet loving guy that has been looking for a loving home since December of 2016 only because he is a seizure dog. |

Cody just arrived from the Sanford Orlando Race Track. He is an extra large male that is 88lbs. He is so tall that he wouldn't fit into the standard crate at the race track so they had to fix a special one for him to give him enough room. He is very tall and lanky with long legs and a long tail that touches the ground. He is a young guy that was only at the track for a few schooling races and just was so big and uncoordinated that they didn't think he was cut out to be a racer. So he never had one official race. He is a very young guy that won't turn 2 until November 18th. His sire is BD's Grayson and his dam is D's Pride. Cody is very quiet in his crate so may be good for someone living in an apartment. He is very calm for a pup but does enjoy running in the yard sometimes. He still has some puppy fuzz that will shed out later. He is a friendly guy that is good on leash in spite of his size. He kind of leans into you on walks and likes to stay close. He travels very well and just lays down in the back of his foster mom's van. He seems like he wants to please and do the right thing. More as we get to know this sweet, gentle giant. Cody was brought in as a special request for a previous greyhound adopter that lives in Massachusetts. He is not available. |

Hayley is one we have been waiting on to retire for a long time. A couple of her sisters are already retired and were placed through our group. Hayley had a longer career that spanned 116 races in Palm Beach and Derby Lane. She just retired from Palm Beach and placed in the money 61% of the time. Her sire is Dusty Outback and her dam is Nightingale. She raced at 61lbs and turned 3 on December 5th. Hayley is sweet, silly, funny, loving and playful. She loves rice krispy treats. She was brought in for one of our previous adopters and will be going home with them after she is vetted. |

Eyeful just arrived from the Goodman Kennel at Sanford Orlando Race Track. She also raced some of her 113 at Palm Beach and Southland. She mainly raced at the lower levels but did get up to the B level for a while. Eyeful is a cute, little, white with brindle spots girl that turned 4 on March 8th. She is tiny, racing at just 54lbs. She has the cutest ears that go straight up when she is looking at something. Her sire is Kelsos Fusileer and her dam is Estonia. She settled in to her crate right away and is doing great in her foster home. More as we get to know her. |

Night is a tiny little girl that came in from the Daytona Race Track in Fl with her sister Day. She raced at just 52lbs. Night and Day are in separate foster homes and are are fine being placed separately. Night started racing at Derby Lane but only raced a few races there. Most of her 48 races were in Daytona. She only won 2 of those races, so was retired young. She just turned 2 on December 11th. Night passed her cat and small dog tests very easily so should be able to live with cats or small dogs. She was interested in a very timid cat that would run away from her so would probably do better with a confident cat that stood its ground though. She is used to being around the children of her racing trainer ages 5 to 12 and likes kids. She is a curious, playful, little girl that is very friendly and has never met a stranger. She is very happy and excitable and her foster home is working on her leash skills since she wants to check out everything on walks. Night is a talker and will answer you with a cute little roo roo if you talk to her and get her excited. She is very confident and comfortable in any situation. She was relaxed and laying on her back with her feet in the air within 24 hours of being in a house the first time. She was fostered in a home with cats, small dogs and kids. Her sire is Bonafide Top Dog and her dam is RC Mystic Nugget. Since she is a pretty confident girl she is likely to want to be the top dog in a pack, so would need to be placed with more submissive dogs that would be OK with that. She can be a bit bossy with the other dogs in her foster home and her foster mom has been working on that. She is getting much better. She loves water and tried to go swimming in the pool. If you want a cute, tiny little girl with a great, outgoing, personality, Night is your girl. |

Fifi is a young girl that never raced that came to us from Julia Ward's farm in Kansas. She is a young girl that was born on 12/3/13. Her sire is Last Outlaw and her dam is WW's Sedan. Fifi has no prey drive and wouldn't chase a lure, so she never made it to the race track and never completed the registration process. She has tattoos in her ears but doesn't have an official racing name. Fifi is happy, sweet girl that is very friendly but submissive, dropping down at your feet and rolling over to show her belly while wagging her tail like crazy. Fifi has been in an adoptive home since March but she is getting more and more afraid of their toddler and his toys as he gets older and more mobile. They have made the difficult decision to find another home for her without toddlers where she can be happy. Fifi has no prey drive and doesn't even chase squirrels or neighborhood cats in her backyard. She lives with a cat and a small kitten. She is excellent on leash. She is very sensitive and rarely ever does anything again if she is corrected for it. Her foster home the Hayes Family decided to keep Fifi. |

Weird is an extra large brindle boy that raced at 82lbs. We don't know how he got his "weird" name but he doesn't seem weird at all. Super sweet and cute! He retired from the Palm Beach Race track after only 8 races on August 13th. He did win a couple of races out of those. He is young and just turned 2 on October 29th. His sire is Kiowa Wish Frank and his dam is Rosalina. We placed his littermate Kiowa Wish N You too! He was too excited about meeting the cat so we don't think he should live with a cat. He seems OK with a small white dog though. He is pretty good on leash. He is a very outgoing happy guy. More as we get to know him. His foster mom who also owns his brother decided to adopt him. His new name is Andy. |

Domina just arrived from a Kansas farm. She raced very briefly in Wheeling and Sarasota and wasn't very good, only winning a couple of races. She did have a good bloodline so her owners wanted her to be a mom. She had 2 litters of pups that are racing now. Three pups in 2014 and 4 more in 2015. There may be more pups that aren't registered yet from more recent litters. Domina raced at 66lbs and her sire is Super C Sampson and her dam is Sing It Blondie. She will turn 9 on September 22nd. Domina has it all, super sweet, calm, happy and friendly personality. She is the favorite dog of the grandkids on her farm. She is pretty stressed out by everything new since she arrived. She should warm up with time and become the happy friendly girl she was at the farm after she gets more comfortable. Because she is an older girl Domina qualifies for our reduced adoption fee of $200. More as we get to know her. |

Gracie came in from a greyhound puppy farm. She was the result of an accidental breeding so she can't be registered to race and was never tattooed. We aren't sure who her parents were and the rest of the puppy litter has already been placed in adoptive homes. This cute girl is very tiny, at just 29lbs when she arrived. She should be bigger than this at this age so she is either younger than we think, or is the runt of the litter and likely to stay tiny. A tiny adult female greyhound usually weighs 50 - 55lbs, so she has a lot of growing to do to catch up. She is only about knee high right now and perches on the arm of a sofa comfortably. She is a friendly, sweet girl that seems very social. She is a puppy so is likely to be much higher energy than the typical adult greyhound. Greyhound puppies need large fenced yards and can run and play for hours. Like all puppies they need constant supervision while they learn house rules and learn how to be a good dog. Once they learn it they are likely to still need supervision and frequent reminders because they forget the rules quickly. Greyhound puppies are like any other breed of puppy and are not the easy laid back dogs that adult greyhounds become. For those that have a lot of time and patience, puppies can be a lot of fun, but they can be very challenging. |

Noralie just arrived from the Kansas Farm where she has been living since she retired from racing. She was a great racer that traveled around and raced at a lot of tracks: Flagler, Naples Ft. Myers, Southland and Pensacola. She was consistently a top level A racer and even competed in big Stakes Races. So when she was retired she went back to the farm to be a mom. Her pups are too young to be registered yet so we aren't sure how many she has. Noralie raced at 62lbs and just turned 6 on January 6th. She is a bouncy, happy girl that loves people and is very outgoing. She is playful and doesn't act her age at all. She needs some work on walking on leash because she does pull. Her sire is the very famous Kiowa Sweet Trey and we placed her mom Flying Northern. More as we get to know this gorgeous girl. |

Spin is a small red fawn girl that raced at 56lbs, She just retired from the Daytona Beach Race Track after only 5 races. She placed toward the back in every race. She is very young and won't even turn 2 until May 5th. Her trainer says she got her name because she will get down low and spin on her back legs when she is excited or happy. She is a super outgoing girl that loves everyone she meets. She would be a meet and greet superstar according to her trainer. Since she is young she is still pretty active and playful. Her sire is WW Apple Jax and her dam is WW's Revolver. Spin passed her cat test and should be fine to live with small dogs too. She has been around her trainer's kids ages 5 to 12 for the short time she was in the racing kennel. She has been there since January. Spin has done well on walks and is pretty good on leash. She wasn't phased by the hardwood floors in her foster home. Very cute girl that doesn't seem to be worried by much. |

Shale is a black female that just arrived from Brindle Kennel at the Palm Beach FL race track. She raced at 62lbs and ran 116 races. She also raced at Naples-Ft Myers. She was mainly competitive at the lower racing levels. Shale just turned 3 on Feb 6th. Her sire is the famous Rhythmless and her dam is CJC's Equalizer. Shale is doing great with the grandchild of her foster mom and follows her around all the time. She is a friendly, happy girl that is going to make a very loving pet. Shale passed her cat test with only a little initial interest. She corrected easily and lost interest so we think she should be trainable with some supervision at first. She passed her small dog test too. |

Cindy's sire is Go Bon Hawk Talk and her dam is Rido's Sandra. She is a friendly, sweet girl that is pretty calm and well behaved. She is used to being around her race trainer's children that are ages 5 - 12 and she really loves kids and will seek them out. Cindy passed her small dog test so should be fine to live in a home with them. She was interested in the cat at first but was correctable so would need further training with cats to be able to live with them. Such a sweet, cute girl! A good girl that has adapted very well to life in a home. |

Stan is a large red male with cute ears that stand straight up. He is 80lbs of sweetness. Although he is large he isn't as tall as he is muscular. He has that body builder look. Stan just arrived from the Daytona Beach Race Track but he also raced a lot of his 111 races at Orange Park in FL. Although he ran quite a few races he mainly raced at the lower levels and did more placing than winning. Stan will turn 4 on August 28th. His sire is Stan's Boy Flyer and his dam is Blazing Lilac. We placed his littermate Blazing Andy last year. Stan is a calm, friendly male that was always good in the kennel. He doesn't jump up or bark and so far hasn't had accidents in the house and hasn't tried to steal anything. He would be a very easy first or 4th greyhound He is used to being around his race trainer's children ages 5 to 12. Stan also passed his cat and small dog tests so should be able to live with either. |

Dusty is a 78lb black male that won't turn 3 until November 26th. His sire is the famous Lonesome Cry and his dam is TMB Sweet Alex. He just retired from the Daytona Beach Race Track. He only raced a few races there before his kennel closed. He also raced a few races at Palm Beach and Derby Lane. He didn't race long and only has 29 races listed. Dusty is a very friendly, sweet guy that stood with his head on our shoulder for an entire 2 hour drive. He seems like he has a real goofy personality that shows in his pictures. He does have a short attention span and wants to check out everything at once which helped him pass his cat and small dog tests. Small dogs cool! Cool cats! Look a plant! What is this a rug? A toy! Look a TV! Wow so much to see! Dusty is a handsome guy that has a shiny black coat and will make someone a fun friend. He is young and does have a higher energy level because of his age than a typical couch potato greyhound probably because he is so young. He is bouncy and does pull on leash trying to see everything in his exciting new world. He does have an amazing tongue but in his defense it was a really hot day when the pictures were taken. Dusty's trainer at the track took her 3 boys with her to the kennel so all her dogs are used to being around children. Dusty is doing great in his foster home on a farm with the cats, chickens, goats and cows. |

Willy initially came in from the Sanford Orlando Race Track where he raced 122 races. He was pretty good and got up to the top A level briefly. Willy is a an extra large guy that raced at 83lbs. His sire is Gable Sour Cream and his dam is Sweetsouthern. He just turned 6 on December 24th. Willy is a very friendly, happy, confident guy. He was in an adoptive home since April of 2015, so he is already home acclimated. He loves people and does great at our meet and greets going up to each person for love. He is the rare greyhound that will actually bark at intruders that try to come into his home and yard though so would be a great dog for someone that wanted a watch dog. He loves to go out on walks and for drives and is very friendly with everyone he meets off of his own property though. He adores going for walks and potties great on leash so would be fine for a family without a fenced yard. Willy is a great guy with a fun, playful personality in short bursts. He is calm and well behaved in the house though. He loves to lay on the couch with his owner with his head in his lap and loves to snuggle. Because he can be protective of his property, we think he would do best in a quiet, adult only home that doesn't have guests often. Willy has had some grumpiness over his space when laying down and that is another reason we have him listed as no children. He has done great in his foster home living with other greyhounds and two smallish to medium sized dogs but Willy can be bossy with other dogs. Medium to large housemates are OK if they are submissive and OK with another dog being the leader of the pack. Willy has lived in a home as an only dog so would be perfect for a one dog household too. His foster mom says he is a super sweet guy and is perfectly behaved, clean in the home with no accidents, and sleeps quietly both in his crate and all night long. Willy may be a good choice for apartment living too. If you like big greyhounds, Willy could be your guy! |

Coco came in from the Jacksonville FL Orange Park Race Track. She broke her leg in her last race on Jan 18th. She had surgery to repair it funded by Pro Greyhound, a group that funds surgical repairs and rehab of retired racers through your donations. If you would like to donate see their page here. Coco raced 121 races, some at Gulf Greyhound Park in Texas before moving to Florida. She raced at 61lbs and turned 4 on Feb 6th. Her sire is Look My Way and her dam is Poor White Dog. She has completed her rehab and recovery and has been released by our vets for adoption. Her leg has healed very well and she should be able to run around and play normally. Coco is pretty friendly and likes people, but she isn't a social butterfly. She isn't pushy for affection and is perfectly happy to stand back and let others get the attention. Coco loves to be outside and will lay in the yard watching her foster dad while he does yard work. She is calm and sweet. Coco does complain some when crated so probably wouldn't be a good apartment dog, although she is quiet when out of the kennel. She passed her cat and small dog test so should be fine to live with either. |

Gem just arrived from North Shore Kennels at Palm Beach. She is a tiny girl that raced at just 53lbs. She only raced 17 races total and also raced briefly at Derby Lane. She didn't win one of her races and broke her hock in her last race on October 19th. Her leg was fixed and rehabbed at the track and the vet has cleared her for adoption now. The leg healed up great and she can play and run around with no problem. Her trainer describes her as "super sweet and friendly", and says she'll climb right up in your lap. She is definitely a snuggly girl that loves to be close. She's playful and probably would prefer a family that will keep her active or a playmate with a yard where she can run around. She's quiet and calm inside the kennel and house though and gets along with all the other dogs. She is a cute girl that has ears that stand straight up when she sees something she is interested in. Gem's sire is the famous Lonesome Cry and her dam is Kiowa Lazy Jill. She is young and just turned 2 on Dec 11th. Gem passed her cat and small dog tests so should be fine to live with either. She seems to like the grandchildren that visit her foster home. |

Moscato is a gorgeous, small black female that just arrived from Brindle Kennel at the Palm Beach Race Track in FL. We love her name! She raced most of her races at Mardi Gras Race Track. She didn't win one race at either track so she was retired young. Moscato just turned 2 on April 14th. She is a tiny girl racing at 56lbs. Her sire is Defrim Bale* and her dam is KL's Tara Ann. Moscato is a very friendly, happy girl. She travels great and just lays down for most of the trip. She does stairs really well and was fostered in a 3rd floor apartment for a little while. She loves to snuggle on the couch or bed with her family. Moscato is a very loving girl with the prettiest big brown eyes and a beautiful shiny black coat. Very cute and so happy! She loves to play with toys that squeak. Moscato passed her cat test but did get excited and barked at the cat to start with. She never wanted to go near the cat though. When we made her go close to the cat and the cat hissed and spat at her, she jumped back and barked, then she really wanted nothing to do with the cat. At the apartment complex she was in one of the outdoor cats would come up and rub on her and Moscato was fine with that. Moscato is really excited over squirrels and does respond poorly to very tiny kittens and dogs that look like squirrels. She is now being fostered in a home with a 15lb Italian Greyhound and has done well with that size and larger as long as they are introduced properly. Moscato does seem to like kids and went straight up to a toddler wagging her tail. |

Benton just arrived from the Daytona Beach Race Track. He came in with his littermates Bryant and Stihl. He had no desire to race or chase the lure so flunked out of training and never raced one official race. That also means that he has no desire to chase cats or small dogs or anything else, so would do fine in a home with small critters. Benton is one of the tiniest boys we have had available at only about 63lbs. He is young and won't turn 2 until April 9th. His trainer said that she put all the brothers outside together because they were whimpy and would get picked on by some of the other males. Benton is the most confident of the 3 boys and seems to be the leader of their little pack of 3. While they let other dogs boss them around, they are not shy with people at all and wag and go up to everyone happily. Benton is used to being around his trainers children ages 5 to teen. His sire is Abita Simon and his dam is Magic Patti. Sweet boy! He does get excited and barks and whines sometimes in his kennel so probably would not be a good apartment dog. |

Apricot came in from the Orange Park Race Track in Jacksonville FL. She raced 126 races and also raced in Sarasota and Naples Ft. Myers. She was pretty good getting up to the top A level briefly. Her last race was November 4th and she had been at the track waiting on a group to take her since then. She is 3 and won't turn 4 until July 9th. Her sire is Defrim Bale and her dam is Brandy of Ruckus. She passed her cat and small dog tests so should be OK to live with either. She crates quietly so may be a good apartment dog. She pulls a bit on leash at first but is getting better with a few reminders. She goes outside to potty nicely and pees a small amount several times in different places. So she may not kill grass as badly as females that empty everything in one place. Apricot is happy and waggy girl. She corrects easily if she does anything wrong. Apricot gets silly and bouncy when she greets you in the morning or when you come home but quickly calms down. When left alone, she will sometimes carry on a conversation with herself with growly noises and soft, quiet, barks. She is such a cute girl with a cute personality to match. |

Marlo just arrived from the Daytona Beach Race Track but he also raced at Wheeling Downs in WV for a few races. He raced mainly at the lower levels mostly placing, but he did win 3 races. Marlo is a white boy with black spots that raced at 71lbs. He is a calm, friendly boy that was very well behaved at the track kennel. He is quiet in his kennel even when he is kenneled away from other dogs. The only time he makes any noise is when he is compelled to sing along to the sound of a fire truck or ambulance or needs to go outside. He is a very good singer that does a long sad rooo rooo rooo. He is used to being around his race trainer's children ages 5 to 12 and a small dog in his foster home and has been great with both. He had mixed results on his cat test however. He was very interested in the cat until it slapped him then he wouldn't get near it again. He did still stay pretty excited about watching the cat from a distance so we think he would do better in a home with no cats. Marlo's sire is WW's Enlighten and his dam is WW Famous Marise. We placed his littermate Persuader about a year ago. He is very sweet and gives kisses. More as we get to know him. |

He raced at 77lbs and is 4 years old. He will celebrate his 5th birthday on May 9th. Endmost's sire is BD's Grayson and his dam is WW The Endisnigh. Endmost is a calm, well behaved guy. He is used to being around the children of his racing trainer that are ages 5 - 12 now, but he has been around them since they were toddlers. He did Ok with the small dog he met after he sniffed it and realized what it was. His trainer says that he can be a little unsure in new situations at first but he has seemed to do really well transitioning to foster care and has not been shy at all. So far he has been friendly and very sweet. A real love. Really well behaved in his foster home too. Endmost is a beautiful red guy with big brown gentle eyes. More as we get to know him. |

Resident just arrived from the Daytona Beach Race Track. She raced 18 races and most of those were actually at the Naples Ft Myers Race Track. She never won one race so was retired young. Resident is turning 2 on April 17th. She is a friendly, sweet, brindle girl that raced at 61lbs. She has a very tiny petite build with the smallest little face but she has really long legs and neck which makes her tall for as tiny and petite as she is. Her sire is KL's Raymond and her dam is Kiowa Step Up. She has only been racing at this kennel for a month but during that time she has been around her trainers kids ages 5 though 12 and has been great with them. She was curious about the small dogs she met but just needed to sniff and realize that they were dogs and was fine. She was too interested in chasing cats at first but did lose interest after being around them for a little while. We think she may be trainable with very close supervision. Resident is a very cute, happy girl. |

His sire is Papa Charlie and his dam is BF Irene. Coke is very loving and will just put his head on your lap and gaze up into your eyes. His trainer says it is like he is looking into your soul. Really sweet guy that is always well behaved in the kennel. He is used to being around his trainer's children ages 5 to 12. More as we get to know him. |

Carol just arrived from the Daytona Beach Race Track. She raced 75 races mainly at the lower levels and won a few but mostly placed. Carol raced at 50lbs and turns 3 on July 14th. She is a friendly girl. Carol is used to being around her race trainer's children ages 5 to 12 and seems to like kids. Carol's sire is Barcelona Boss and her dam is Magic Finch. Carol has settled into family life really well. She loves her toys and gets along well with the other greyhounds in her foster home. Carol mistakes cats and and tiny dogs for bunnies and wants to chase them so needs a home with medium to larger sized dogs only. Carol is a sweet, friendly girl that loves people. |

Tipsy is a sweet, friendly, young, female greyhound with a wonderful personality. She initially came to us due to an accidental pregnancy and delivered a litter of 4 puppies a week before we got her and her little family. She raised her puppies and they were all adopted and are over a year old now. Tipsy was a racer and a pretty good one, racing most of her 61 races at A level in Daytona Beach. She is a small, brindle girl that raced at 56lbs. Her sire is Pat C Clement and her dam is JS Amber Trophy. She will turn 4 on March 12th so is still a young girl. She is home acclimated and has been in an adoptive home for about a year now. She is being returned to us because she is bossy with the other female dog in the home and they are just not getting along. Otherwise she is the perfect girl, very happy, friendly and well behaved. Tipsy has been living with an indoor cat and is excellent with it. She has also lived with several children and loves kids. She follows the two year old child around the house and wants to stay close to her. She is very snuggly and loving to everyone and just has an excellent personality. Her family is very attached to her and this is very difficult for them because her only issue is her bossiness with the other female dog. Since we don't know for sure if this is just directed at other females, we think it would be wisest to put Tipsy in a home where she would be the only dog. This is something that doesn't happen frequently and she is normally good with small and large dogs she meets. Tipsy is a calm girl that is quiet in her crate but she is rarely kenneled because she doesn't really need to be. |

Special Needs - Cushings Disease! Larry came straight from the farm to us before he was even 2 without actually making it to the race track. He and his brother just didn't show much interest in racing. Larry is a very tiny guy at just 63lbs. His sire is Iceman Brutus and his dam is WJS Raina Jem. Larry will turn 7 on Sept 19th. He has had some very bad luck and has been returned to our group twice. Larry came in with his brother Mo and was adopted with Mo by both previous owners. He was returned from his first home because he and his brother were barking at night. They were put out in an outbuilding at night and just wanted to be in the house with their family. Larry and Mo were adopted again and did fine together, unfortunately Mo passed away suddenly a in December of 2015 due to bloat. In mid 2016, Larry started acting stressed and losing weight. His owners believed he was stressed due to the loss of his brother. His family had some blood work run by their vet and found low thyroid so started him on that thyroid meds and Prozac for anxiety and sent him back to us to rehome, in hopes a home with another dog would help him. Larry was very very thin and didn't look healthy. Our vet did further testing on him and found that his actual problem was an adrenal problem called Cushings Disease that is caused by a tumor. He was started on medication for the Cushings and the prozac was stopped. The medication made a huge change in Larry, he started feeling and acting better and gaining weight right away. He has been on the medication for awhile now and our vet retested his levels and his blood work is perfect now! Our group's bill for Larry is about $1000 so far. We welcome donations to help with his care. Click here to go to our donation page. Larry will have at least two medications that he will have to take the rest of his life. Those medications will cost our group or his adoptive family about $100 a month. We don't know how fast the tumor will grow, but Larry is likely to only be with us another year or two. We are hopeful that we will find a very special adopter for Larry that will be able to afford his long term care. Other than his health issues, Larry, appears to be the perfect greyhound. He passed his cat and small dog tests and lived with both in previous homes. He would even snuggle on the bed with his cat buddy in his last home. His current foster home also has cats. Larry is a sweet, friendly, loving guy that can be silly but is very calm and perfectly behaved in his foster home. This tiny boy has the cutest little puppy face too! Larry potties nicely on leash and walks perfectly on leash, so doesn't require a home with a fenced yard, if his family is willing to leash walk him. Larry loves to snuggle and be as close to his humans as he can get. He does get worried by Thunderstorms. We were told that Larry couldn't be crated, but he has been fine being crated at his foster home within sight of other dogs. Larry seems to have bad dreams and will wake up crying sometimes, so appears to be a very sensitive guy. A generous donor has offered to pay most of Larry's adoption fee for whoever adopts him. Another generous donor is paying for Larry's first year of medication. |

Laney just arrived from the Brindle Kennel at the Palm Beach Race Track in FL. She raced 121 races there and got up to the top A level of racing so she was a pretty good racer. She is a red fawn that raced at 62lbs. Her sire is KC and All and her dam is BNS Bea. Laney won't turn 4 until November 24th. She is a friendly, sweet girl that started to doze off leaning on us on the trip up. She continued to lean across our lap snuggling even when we stopped petting her. Seems like a very social, curious girl. Laney is very happy and friendly. She passed her cat test with just a few sniffs and stayed far away after one hiss from the cat. She did fine with a small dog she met too and seemed to like a toddler. Laney is a cute, red girl with ears that stand straight up when she is curious about something. She can be a little whiny in her kennel so probably wouldn't be the best choice for an apartment or townhouse. Laney is doing great in foster care and is going to make a wonderful pet for a lucky family. She has the cutest stand up ears and big doe eyes. |

Katie was originally placed by our group when she was young in April of 2007. At that time she was called "Gully". She was named Katie and returned in 2008 due to a serious health problem of one of her owners. She was rehomed with her latest owner in April of 2008. Her current owner is choosing to re-homing Katie at 12 years old because she doesn't think Katie is happy after a divorce, move and schedule change. Katie just turned 12 on March 19th. Katie raced only 4 races at the now closed Jefferson County Kennel Club in Florida. She finished toward the back of the pack in all her races, so she was retired young at just 2 years old. We had Katie checked by our vet to be sure she was healthy. Other than a corn on one of her feet, that causes a limp on hard surfaces, she got a clean bill of health. She has lived with cats and small dogs so should be fine to live with both. She is actually going back to her original foster home and they have already decided to keep her, so she isn't available at this time. Katie travels well and wants nothing more than a soft couch to lay on. She is very laid back at her age and just is happy to nap most of the day. She is friendly with everyone. Her sire is Trojan Cruze and her dam is RK Goin Topressu. Her photo is one we had from when she was young. |

Elvis is a gorgeous, light brindle guy with gold eyes. He raced at a huge 86lbs. He is retired from Sanford Orlando Track but also raced at Orange Park in Jacksonville FL. He only raced 14 races and only won one of those. Elvis retired a little over a year ago and has been in a home for the last year. His owner died suddenly on April 1st and Elvis ended up at Animal Control. We are making arrangements to get him out right away. He is young and won't turn 3 until May 26th. His sire is Flying Culloden and his dam is SNJ Ginger. Crown Royal is doing great with the children in his previous foster home and several mastiffs that he lived with in his adoptive home. Elvis settled into home life perfectly and is a sweet, gentle giant that seems pretty laid back and well behaved. Since Elvis's owner didn't have cats we still need to test him with kitties. |

Barney just arrived from North Shore Kennel at the Palm Beach Race Track. He is just a young guy and just turned 2 on January 28th. Barney never officially raced because he broke a front leg in a training accident. His leg was fixed and rehabbed at the track and the vet cleared him to be transported to us for adoption. Barney can be a little shy at first with people he doesn't know, but he gets over it very quickly. He is very quiet but he loves to run around in the yard then go back to his crate. His favorite thing to play with are empty bottles and he will even fetch them and bring them back to you! He's a sweet boy and will stand there and let you pet him for as long as you're willing to. He loves being around other dogs but he would probably do just fine on his own, too. He's just wants to be loved by his people. Barney passed his cat and small dog tests so should be fine to live with either. Be sure to click on his other pictures to see some adorable pictures of him as a puppy. Barney's sire is Shonn and his dam is Kelso's Linda Ash. As you can see in his pictures Barney is food motivated. He has done well with the grandkids that visit his foster home.

Cat just came in from the Birmingham AL race track. She also raced some of her 105 races at Daytona Beach and Orange Park in FL. Cat mainly raced at the mid B and C levels. She is a 64lb girl with striking coloring. She is mostly black with a white chest and a white collar that runs all the way around her neck. She also has a white blaze on her face and white front legs. The really interesting thing about her coloring is that she has black freckles in the white areas. She is really unusual and very cute. She turned 4 on December 15th. Her sire is Djays Octane and her dam is Thataway Cat. Cat was too interested in the cats and tiny dogs to pass either of those tests, but she seemed to do OK with medium sized and larger dogs. She is described as a very happy girl that loves to give hugs and is a greyhound that grins. She has a wonderful personality and will roll over for tummy rubs. Super sweet girl. She is very quiet and calm. She seems like she would be perfect as an apartment or townhouse dog. |

Special Needs - Needs experienced dog home Jack is a famous boy even though he never raced. He was in the first litter of pups that Greyhoundfacts.org followed. You can see pictures of him and his litter Here. He comes with tons of puppy photos from the time he was born. Jack wasn't that interested in racing and never had one race. He was sent to an adoption group in Colorado when he was only a little over a year old, but they had him for months without any interested adopters. His owner sent him to Florida for a change of scenery in hopes he would find a home there, but that didn't work out because he was still a big high energy pup at that age. He was brought in to our group for an adopter that wanted him. Jack's sire is the famous Paddy Whacker and his dam is Blazin Angelfire. He is a large guy and should weigh around 80lbs. He will turn 3 on May 21st. Jack has been in several adoptive homes, but has been returned by each due to a variety of problems. He was returned the first time because he played too rough with a 3lb dog in the home, so we had to mark him "no small dogs". Jack was returned again because he was growly with a child when he was laying down. Even though he loved the kids in his foster home, he had to be listed "no small kids". He was returned again after only a couple of days because the german shepherd in his home didn't get along with him. He was just returned again because they didn't have time to spend with him and he got bored and started getting into things. Jack doesn't like to be crated and complains loudly about it, so he can't be an apartment dog either. Jack has calmed down a lot since he arrived. A greyhounds brain comes in sometimes between 2 and 3 years old and now that Jack is nearly 3 he seems to be a much easier dog. His current foster home has had no trouble with him at all. He has gotten along fine with their smallish to medium sized mixed dog and their greyhounds and has been the perfect house guest. Jack is extremely affectionate and sweet and just wants attention and love. Even though he can be excitable and playful for short spurts, he calms down and can be quite the couch potato now. Jack had mixed results with cats in his foster homes, so we also put him down as needing a home with no cats. He was good with cats most of the time, but he could get excited when they played and ran and wanted to join in. Jack is very outgoing, waggy, friendly and happy. He loves to give kisses. He has a lot of personality and just needs some exercise, leadership and rules for him to thrive. Jack was retired out of training shortly after he was a year old so has been waiting on the right home for almost 2 years now. Could your home be the right one? |

Special Needs - Very Shy! Jarrod initially was sent to the adoption kennel at the race track in Jacksonville in November. He was there for a couple of weeks and wasn't doing well because he is very shy. They asked us if we could take him into one of our foster homes to get him home acclimated at the beginning of December so he has been with us for months waiting on the right home. Jarrod never was interested in racing so never had an official race. He is a small guy that weighs about 68lbs and turned 2 on October 13th. His sire is Offthebrakedrake and his dam is Shorty's Nana. He passed his cat and small dog tests and is living with cats in his foster home. Jarrod is a genetically shy boy that is afraid of new people, new things and fast movements. It is his personality and not the result of anything bad happening to him. We occasionally see dogs like him that seem to have something similar to an anxiety disorder and are afraid of everything. He will need a family with a lot of patience that can wait for him to warm up to them. It may take months or a year, before a shy dog like him, gets really comfortable in a home. He is probably always going to want to be a homebody. Going out in public and travel is probably going to be too overwhelming, so his family will need to be understanding of that. We have him listed as older children only because the fast movements and loud noises that little children make will be frightening to him. Like most shy dogs, Jarrod would probably do best in a home with another more confident dog to hang out with. It took Jarrod a couple of months to get to the point that his foster mom could reach out and pet him without him ducking away. He wouldn't approach her at first unless she was kneeling or squatting down. He did sneak up to sniff her when her back is turned. He does seem to want to interact but just has to get his courage up. He plays with toys now and will play bow and bark and run around when his foster mom play bows back at him. He chooses to stay in the room with his foster mom now, rather than going back to his crate or hiding in another room. After a few months he started seeking affection and will come to his foster mom to be petted now. He is very good in the house and hasn't had an accident yet. He goes to the back door when he needs to go outside. He does get loud in the crate sometimes, so he won't be a good apartment dog. Jarrod is a gorgeous brindle boy with very unusual golden eyes. So handsome! It is very rewarding to work with an exceptionally shy dog like Jarrod. When he finally comes around and decides to trust his new family it will be a beautiful thing, but it will take a lot of patience on the part of his new family. He is an exceptionally timid boy. |

Fozzie just arrived from the Birmingham Race Course. He is a traveler and raced 85 races at quite a few tracks though. He started out at Wheeling Downs in WV which is a tough track. He wasn't able to win a race there so was moved to Orange Park. He won one race there but then came in at the back of the pack for a few races so he was moved to an easier track still, Melbourne. He quickly got up to the top A level there. He also raced at Sanford Orlando before moving to Birmingham and he raced at A level at both of those tracks too. His last race in Birmingham was an A level race that he trailed in on Feb 21st. Fozzie is a 73lb red fawn male that just turned 3 on March 2nd. His sire is Gable Sour Cream and his dam is WW's Uh Huh. He passed his cat and small dog tests so should be fine to live with either. He is described as a very calm guy that is very social, loving and sweet. His foster home says he is doing great there and is settling in very fast. He is doing great with their child too. |

Bug is a very young girl that just turned two on January 24th. She came in from Goodman Kennel at the Sanford Orlando race track. She never did well in race training so Bug was retired without ever actually racing. Since she never raced we don't have a racing weight for her but we guess her to be around 65lbs. She is a beautiful, red brindle with a white blaze, white stockings and chest. Her sire is the very famous Greys Statesman and her dam is Elysiums Joy. Bug is very young so still acts puppyish. She is very friendly and waggy. She loves to travel but tries to climb up into the front seat to help drive. Bug is still wiggly and has a short attention span because of her age. She got better after being in her foster home for a little while, but like a kid, she will need supervision and reminders on minding her manners in a new home. Bug would do great with a family that could provide her with some exercise and play since she is young and more energetic than older greyhounds She is good with the small dogs she has met, but gets a little too excited about cats to be able to live with them. She has done great with the toddler that visits her foster home and seems to really like kids. If you are looking for a young beauty with plenty of personality Bug may be your girl. |

Shaw just arrived from the Brindle Kennel at Palm Beach Race Track in Florida. He is a very small male that raced at just 65lbs. Shaw only raced 6 races and finished at the back or near the back of the pack in all of them so he is a young guy. He won't turn 2 until July 3rd. HIs sire is the famous Djays Octane and his dam is K's Sloan. Shaw is a very handsome boy. He has so many large black spots that it would be hard to decide if he was more white or black. He is a very happy, friendly boy that loves people. He is curious about everything and wants to check everything out. He wanted to climb into our lap on the dog haul and when we stopped decided to try to get up on the dashboard to check that out from our lap. He seems like a happy silly guy. |

Zen just arrived from Waverider Kennel at the Daytona Beach Race Track. He raced 17 races all at Derby Lane but usually finished toward the back of the pack. He raced his last race in October and was moved to Daytona Beach but ended up not racing any more races there. He is a beautiful, shiny black male that raced at 77lbs. His sire is Dragon Fire and his dam is Kiowa Dance. He is still young and just turned 2 on December 13th. Zen seems pretty calm and well behaved for such a young dog. He has been around kids, ages 5 - 12, in his kennel. They often help their mom out in the kennel. Zen did not pass his cat test, but he did great with the small white dog in his foster home. He is a very friendly boy that just wants to stand near you so you can pet him. He is very sweet. He does pull on leash some to check out all the new things so his foster mom is working on that. He does potty well on leash so doesn't require a fenced yard if his owners are willing to leash walk him. Zen has been pretty quiet in his crate so far so he may be a good choice for an apartment dog. He is a gorgeous guy! |

Kone just arrived from the Orange Park Race Track in Jacksonville Florida. She only raced 6 races and came in toward the back of the pack in all of them, so was retired young. She just turned 2 on Feb the 2nd. Kone is a small girl that raced at 57lbs. Her sire is the famous Kiowa Sweet Trey and her dam is Atascocita Paola. Kone was pretty overwhelmed when she first arrived and seems like she is a timid, sensitive little girl. She settled into her foster home nicely though and has become bit of a hoarder. She will collect toys, shoes and other things she finds in her foster home and will pile them on and around her dog bed. She only sleeps with them and doesn't chew on them. Kone passed her cat and small dog tests so should be fine to live with either. |

Rosetta Just arrived from the Orange Park Race Track in Jacksonville FL. She raced 90 races at 61lbs. She was not a great racer, mainly competing at the lower levels of racing. Rosetta's last race was Nov 25th and she had been waiting at the track since then for an adopter or a group to take her. She turned 3 on June 6th and is a mostly white girl with just a little brindle on her face and tail and some freckles in her fur. A very pretty girl. Rosetta's sire is PB's Blaze On and her dam is GS Addison. Rosetta did pass her cat test at the track so should be fine to live in a home with cats or small dogs. Rosetta likes kids and is a fun girl that likes to play and run around with her toys in the backyard. She is going to be a fun girl for some lucky family. |

7up's whole litter had call names chosen for them as puppies that were soft drink names. She just arrived from the Waverider Kennel in Daytona Beach, where she raced most of her 171 races. 7up also raced briefly at Sarasota. She is a beautiful, shiny, black female that will turn 5 on April 29th. 7up is a tiny, cute, friendly, girl that likes people. She was good with her trainers kids ages 5-12 that help out in the kennel and seems to love small kids and always goes straight to see any kids that are around. She passed her first cat but failed her second cat test badly, so needs a home with no cats. 7up is a happy, sweet girl that responds well to correction if she does anything wrong. She like to go for rides and walks. Her sire is the famous Trent Lee and her dam is Go Bon Bugaboo. 7up is doing good with the small white dog in her foster home. She is very talkative and will play in her kennel and talk to herself making really funny noises while she rolls around and waves her legs in the air. She is a very silly girl that makes some sounds that we have never heard a greyhound make before. Very creative. Because she does make noise in her kennel, she probably won't be a good choice for an apartment. 7up does potty on leash very well so doesn't require a fenced yard if her family is willing to leash walk her. 7up thinks she is a lap dog. If you are sitting in a chair she will put her chest and front legs on your lap to snuggle while standing with her back legs on the floor. |

Alice just arrived from the Orange Park Track with her sister Annie. She was a very good racer, racing most of her career at the top A level. She competed in a few Stakes races, that only the best racers at the track are invited to and won 3rd in the 2015 Orange Park Marathon. Alice was a successful racer, over both the shorter distances and the longer distances. She is a beautiful, unusual shade of brindle with black stripes over a silvery gray. Very striking! The two girls look like identical twins. Alice is a friendly girl that raced at 64lbs. She turned 4 on December 17th. Our adoption group met her and her sister on a recent trip to the race track and asked to get them when they retired. Alice's sire is Pat C Clement and her dam is Calypso Amy. Alice passed her cat test with just a little interest but did respond to correction well so we think she is trainable with cats. She passed her small dog test easily so should be fine to live with them. Alice is a friendly, sweet girl. More as we get to know her. |

Tree came in from the Melbourne, FL race track. He only raced 2 of his 104 races there and mainly raced at the Palm Beach Track. Tree got up to B level and won quite a few races. He raced at 75lbs and turned 3 on September 12th. Tree's sire is the famous Loxahatchee Dash and his mom is the famous Flying Cleburne. One of our members adopted his mother when she retired too! Tree is a very happy, friendly boy that wags a lot. He is very excited to see his people and anyone else. No shyness here, he seems to love everyone and is definitely a people dog. He is great on leash and would be perfect for a family that likes to jog. He jogs up to 3 miles with his foster mom and stays right beside her and keeps pace with her easily. Tree passed his cat and small dog tests and lived around 2 cats for a few days and was very respectful of them. He loves playing with toys. Tree is vocal and did some barking at first in his kennel, so probably wouldn't be the best choice for an apartment dog. This is a handsome guy that has a lot of personality and he will be a fun dog for a very lucky family. If you want a friendly, happy, silly greyhound, Tree is your guy! Tree has a little more energy than the average greyhound and we think he would be a perfect candidate for someone that wanted to do further training with a dog like obedience or agility. He is smart, wants to please and is very in tune with his people. |

Verruckt initially came in from the Goodman Kennel at Sanford Orlando Race Track. He raced at 73lbs, and is a happy, friendly, brindle male. He raced 60 races and traveled around a lot. He raced at Southland in Arkansas, then went to Naples Ft Myers track in Florida, then to Dubuque in Iowa, then back to Orlando Florida. He won some races but never got up to the stop A level at any of those tracks. In spite of that, he was put into a top level Stakes race. Verruckt turned 3 on August 13th. His sire is Boc's Blast Off and his dam is L's Sociabull. Verruckt passed his cat and small dog test so should be able to live with either. He is a sweet, calm boy that has been very well behaved in his foster home. Verruckt potties well on leash so may do OK without a fenced yard if his family is willing to leash walk him. He has done fine on steps too. Verruckt whined a bit the first night but was quiet in his kennel after that. Nice boy that has been living in an apartment. Verruckt loves children and loves to play in the yard with the kids in his foster home. Verruckt is a happy young guy that is very friendly. He was in an adoptive home for a couple of months, but was returned due to a job loss. When we got Verruckt back from his adoptive home he only weighed 60lbs so was significantly underweight and is much thinner than his healthy photos below. Our vet checked him over and says he checked out OK and just needs fed more. His foster home says he is eating great and is gaining the weight back already. This is a great guy that is already home acclimated.

Very outgoing and sweet! Sebastian will turn 5 on February 26th. He did pass his cat and small dog tests so should be fine to live with either. |
