Additional Details:

Goldie came in from the Orange Park Race Track in Jacksonville FL. She only raced eight races there and won two of them. She raced at 66lbs and turned 2 on April 11th. Goldie is a beautiful red girl. Her sire is P's Gibbs and her dam is Pat C Goldendrop. Goldie was vetted with our vet in Augusta GA. She is a doggy genius and is one of the smartest greyhounds her foster mom has had. She can be a Houdini and has gotten out of regular metal crates but did fine in the guillotine type crates where the door slides up or the plastic vari kennel style airline crates. She has figured out how to take her muzzle off too. She can easily clear a baby gate to get to someone on the other side. Goldie is very food motivated and will do anything for a treat, so her foster mom taught her to sit and down in just a few days. She seems like a confident, happy girl, but she does have a submissive side and will get very low to the ground if she thinks she did something wrong. Goldie is very curious about everything and doesn't seem to be timid or phased by much of anything. Since she is so happy, confident and friendly she would probably make an excellent therapy dog. Although she sleeps quietly in the crate all night, she does sometimes complain about being in the kennel so she may not be the best choice for apartment living. Goldie is such a smart dog that she would be a great dog for someone wanting to do trick training, agility or obedience. She may make a great therapy dog too. Goldie is a higher energy girl still at 2 years old so would be great for someone wanting a dog for longer walks or hikes. She has big beautiful eyes that will be hard to resist. Goldie passed her initial cat and small dog tests with some interest, but seemed easy to distract and responded well to correction. We thought she would be trainable with cats and small dogs and placed her in a home with them. She would do OK with them one day and then be too interested in them the next so she is looking for a home with no cats or small dogs now.
