Dalma came from the Jacksonville Fl race track. She raced 132 races at 62lbs. She raced most of her races at Orange Park but also raced at Derby Lane. She is a pretty black girl that celebrated her 4th birthday on Feb 1st. Her sire is Daddy Warbarks and her dam is Zoomn Cheri. Dalma's last race was in January. She had a couple of seizures at the track and her owner decided it was best to retired her. She was at the track kennel from January until May waiting on a group that could take her and didn't have any more seizures even without medication to prevent them. The stress of the move from the track triggered another seizure so we put her on medication to prevent more and she has had no seizures since she started the medication. The medication is inexpensive and she may not even need to be on medication once she is in a permanent home since high excitement and stress seem to trigger her seizures. Dalma is a sweet, happy girl that is very very loving. She will curl up in your lap and loves to snuggle with people. She is very friendly with people and gets along great with the other dogs in her foster home. Her current foster home would love to dog sit for her after adoption if she is adopted in the area. Dalma did pass her cat and small dog tests so should be fine to live with either. She likes the small children in her foster home. Dalma does potty nicely on leash now so may be OK for apartment living.

Dalma was adopted by the Searles family of Summerfield NC 11/2/14. She had a wonderful home with them until she passed away in 2019.

Potzy raced in Florida at just 66lbs so he is a smaller male. He was a pretty successful racer that raced until nearly his 4th birthday, which was on October 7th. Potzy is very cute, mostly white with a few brindle patches and some freckles in his white fur. Potzy passed his cat test but was a little interested in the cat at first so will need some supervision with new cats at first. He passed his small dog test and is living in a foster home with dogs and cats. He is a friendly, happy guy that is very devoted to people and wants to be with his family doing whatever they are doing. He isn't shy or nervous and is very outgoing and loving. Potzy has great house manners and picked up on potty training without a problem. Potzy doesn't like his crate much and is vocal when left in one so would not be the best choice for an apartment or townhouse. He has been quiet and well behaved when left out of crate, even by himself.

Potzy was adopted by the Kerr family 5/27/12 he lived until 2019 when he passed away at the age of 12. He will be missed.

Gaby just arrived from the Sanford Orlando Race Track and was raised on the Bolton Farm near the track. It is a smaller beautiful farm where the dogs get lots of one on one attention. Gaby Is a pretty red girl that raced 179 races at 63lbs. She was a good racer, racing much of her career at the top A level there. Her sire is the famous Bella Infrared and her dam is Waubun Brenda. Gaby will turn 5 on June 8th. Gaby is a friendly, happy girl. She passed her cat test easily and seemed like she already knew that cats have claws and refused to go near the kitty. She is also fine with small dogs. Gaby is very sweet and will sit and lean up against the front of your legs for attention. She is a waggy, happy girl that doesn't seem fazed by anything new so seems like she will do well very fast with her new family. She is very loving and just loves to be close to her humans. She did like the small kids she met briefly but has not been around small kids long term yet. She can complain a bit about being in her kennel, so probably wouldn't be a good apartment dog. Gaby is adapting very well to her foster home and is such a beautiful sweet girl!

Gaby was adopted by the Reich family 4/18/18. She was renamed Ginger. Her time with them was too short. She crossed the bridge in 2019.

Girl Friend is a cute red girl with a little black on her nose and cute floppy ears that flop toward the front. Pay no attention to her racing name- Crazy Girl - there is nothing crazy about her. She is actually very friendly and sweet. Her sire is the very famous Kiowa Sweet Trey and her dam is Fast and Furious. She raced at 64lbs and celebrated her 2nd birthday on May 28th. Girl Friend has 28 races to her credit - 1 win and quite a few placements. She raced at Sarasota and retired from Sanford Orlando. She travels well. She was good with the cats, small dog, ferret and two children in her first foster home, and equally peaceful with the dominant dogs in her second foster home. She is very affectionate and loves attention, always choosing to be with her humans no matter what is going on around her. She will crate and rest quietly at night or when left alone, but she would prefer to be out and about with her pack. Girl is smart and learns quickly so it is important that her family supervises her and teaches her what they want her to do rather than just letting her make up her own rules. She loves to play and would love a home with a fenced yard that she can run and play in.

Girlfriend was adopted by her foster family and renamed Mazy. She lived a happy life with them until she passed away 1/1/19

Her sire is Deuces Wild and her dam is Susans Starlite. Bright was a timid girl and was returned a couple of times. Eventually her foster mom decided to just keep her. Mac is an extra large, loving greyhound that raced at a huge 84lbs and is well over 90lbs now. During his time at Orange Park track adoption kennel (GPA of NE Florida) he was a kennel favorite. His sire is the famous Kiowa Sweet Trey so he is a half brother to a bunch of the dogs we have placed. His dad seems to throw extra sweet pups and Mac is a twin to another big guy that we already placed. He was born on March 21st of 2009 so he is 4 years old. This boy is a happy, loving guy that loves everyone he meets. He seems like a fun guy that bounces happily when he meets you but so far has crated quietly so can be calm and lazy too. He is food motivated so should be easy to train to do tricks or obedience. Mac is a big lovable guy that is going to make a great pet. He is cat and small dog friendly so could live with either. Mac has been in an adoptive home for over a year now and was returned to us because they had a child and no longer had time for a dog. He is wonderful with kids and should be an easy pre acclimated pet for some lucky family. He was returned to us very overweight so we are working on getting some weight off of him. The photos we have of him are ones when he first retired and was in great shape.

Mac was adopted by his foster family 11/21/14. He lived with the Hayes family and helped take care of baby squirrels and other wildlife they rehabbed. He was a very special guy. He passed away in 2019. He will be missed.

Vulcan is a dark brindle male greyhound that initially came in from the Birmingham Race Track. He also raced very briefly at Palm Beach and Ebro tracks in Florida. He only had a total of 14 races and only won one of those. He didn't place in any of his other races and usually finished last. His sire is Heart Rumble and his dam is BI's Owens Girl. Vulcan turned 3 on October 2nd. Vulcan was in a home since December of 2014 and did great there.  Vulcan was returned to us because of a divorce and a move. His first owner was heartbroken to have to give him up. Vulcan was quickly adopted out again in November of 2015 but is being returned to us again because they don't have a fenced yard and they think he would enjoy running around more. Vulcan is so good with cats and small animals that he was living with an exotic animal rehabber and he was good with all the wild animals there. Rick is a friendly boy that is very well behaved and sweet. Neither of his previous homes have reported any behavior problems.

Vulcan was adopted by his foster home in 2016 and crossed the bridge in July of 2019 after a bout with a tick disease caused an immune disorder that he wasn't able to survive. He was known by his family as BDE Best Dog Ever and was the heart dog of his owner Amy. Vulcan was a goofy, bouncy boy that loved people. Vulcan was found most Saturdays at the Greyhound Crossroads tent at the Augusta Market and wooed many potential adopters. Vulcan was a certified therapy dog. He was lost far too young, he turned 6 October 2nd of 2018.

Harriet's sire was WW Time Warp and her dam was Pure Fortress. She was born Nov 7th of 2003. Harriets was very shy and timid when we got her. She bit her first owner after he chased her and cornered her trying to catch her. He wanted her euthanized because of the bite, but we were able to save her and get her back. The Glymph family took her to foster and decided to keep her in 2006. She quickly got over her shyness and became a true Diva. Harriet's adoptive mom took her lure coursing and amateur racing and she was very good at that once she became more confident. She became a champion. She never bit anyone again and was the sweetest dog, even doing meet and greets. Harriet became queen of the Beach at our Annual Beach Bound Hounds vacation in Myrtle Beach in 2017 at nearly 14 years old. She passed away at 15. She was a diva and the sunshine of her mom's life.

Noble is a stunning large, white male with a black patches. He is very flashy, drop dead gorgeous and even trots with a prance. He weighs 85lbs and is an extra large guy. Noble is not a retired racer. He has been in a home since he was a puppy so has great house manners and is already home acclimated. If he does anything wrong all you have to do is say something and he will stop right away. He really wants to please people. Noble hasn't been out a lot and does get a little stressed in new situations with people he doesn't know. He is a bit timid and isn't initially as friendly as our more confident dogs and tends to stand back a bit at our meet and greets at PetSmart. He takes a day or two to really bond with new people but once formed that bond is very strong and he will follow his new owner around and ask for affection. Noble will quietly stand leaning against you or put his head in your lap for petting. He is very good with children.Noble was given to us to rehome because he was not getting along with a new male greyhound in the home. From what we have seen Noble is not a confident dog and can be uncomfortable with new dogs coming in to his home large or small. Although he lived with small dogs in his previous home and was fine with them, we would rather not put him in a home with small dogs. Noble does love to play with the other greyhounds and a wolfhound in his foster home and we have seen none of his previous behavior except if dogs he doesn't know run up and get in his face. His previous owner had quite a few dogs and felt that may have been part of the problem and thought he would do better in a home with fewer dogs where he would get more attention. Noble passed a recent cat test with very little interest so we think he may be trainable with indoor cats. Noble will need a home with a fenced yard because we haven't been able to get him to go potty on leash even one time during his walks. He just likes to trot around looking for that perfect spot and is much too polite to go while on leash. Noble likes to go for walks and travels very well. He is a really stunning guy that is already home acclimated and is going to make someone a very nice pet.

Bo never raced. He was born on November 4th in 2005. Bo has had a long run of bad luck with adoptive homes. He was adopted out as a young dog and was in his first home for 4 years until 2011 when one of them started having trouble with a dog allergy. He was adopted out to another family in 2011 but was found running loose in April of 2014. His previous family didn't respond to attempts to contact them to see if they wanted their dog back so the family that found him decided to keep him. Bo has been whining a lot in that home and didn't appear to be happy, so now he is being rehomed again. His sire is the famous Fortified Power and his dam is M's Elizabeth. He just turned 9 on Nov 4th so qualifies for our reduced adoption fee of $200! Bo is a handsome boy that loves to be by your side. Bo absolutely loves children and slept in the bed with a 7 year old boy in one of his previous homes. He gets along well with other dogs small and large. Bo is a fun boy, and is constantly making his foster family laugh. Even though he is an older guy, he is still playful and loves to run around in the yard. After a very short run can usually be found laying on the couch or bed nearest his people. He is such a loving happy guy and so cute too! Bo seems like he has too high of a prey drive towards cats to be able to live with them but has been living with small dogs and is wonderful with them. Bo can be vocal if left alone so wouldn't be a good dog for an apartment or townhouse. If you want a dog that is already used to living in a home that loves kids, this is your guy!

Bo ended up being adopted by his foster family. He lived a long life and passed away in July of 2019 at the age of 13.

John Reese's litter were all named for Person of Interest TV show characters. John was an amazing racer, racing at one of the top tracks in the country and at the very top level AA. He even won a Stakes race which are limited to the very best racers at that track. We feel like we should ask him for his autograph because he was such a star. He raced 139 races mostly at the very top levels. John turned 4 on July 5th. His sire is Gable Dodge and his dam is O Jays. John was understandably a kennel favorite and is missed by his trainer. He has a wonderful, outgoing, curious personality. John is a big stocky, muscular guy that raced at 78lbs. He has put on a little weight since he retired and was 80lbs at the vet's. He loves people and will put his paws up to give hugs, which we discourage because of his size, even though it is cute. John is quiet and is being fostered in an apartment. He learned how to do the stairs and elevator there the first day and is not stressed by new things. He is very strong and excitable and pulls on leash, so his foster home is working on that. John is just so curious and wants to go see everything and greet everyone on walks, but is learning to control his enthusiasm.  John was initially very curious about the cat until the cat slapped him. He quickly decided not to go back near the cat. We think he is trainable, especially with a cat that would stand his ground and slap him if he shows any interest at all. Because John is big, strong and excitable we have him marked "older children" only. We don't think he would intentionally harm a kid, but he could accidentally knock down a toddler by jumping on him or excitedly bumping into him. John would probably love to play with older kids though. Even though he is higher energy for a greyhound, he still is good when left home alone and just plays quietly with his toys, has no potty accidents and isn't destructive. He is very smart and learned in a day how to work lever type door handles in the house. John loves to chase a squeaker tennis ball and a few minutes in the morning and evening playing with the ball helps wear him out. This would be a wonderful greyhound for agility, obedience or other dog sports since he isn't the typical couch potato. He would love hiking and doing things with his family. John is a handsome, loving guy that is full of personality that is going to make a fun pet for a lucky family.

Johnny was adopted by the Marks family in October of 2015. He had a wonderful life and was very loved until he passed away suddenly of unknown causes on 6/24/19.

She is expected to make a good recovery but is on veterinary hold until she comes out of her splint and is cleared by our vet to be adopted. Anna is a beautiful nearly black girl with just a few orange stripes. Very striking and unusual. She raced at 67lbs. Her sire is Count Ivan and her dam is Zam Solar Limit. She turned 3 on February 2nd. Anna passed her cat and small dog test so should be fine to live with either. She also has done well with the kids she met.

Anna had a wonderful life racing then had 5 wonderful years with her family in retirement. She had what her neurologist believed to be a stroke on May 30th of 2019 and was completely paralyzed. She was not able to recover from the stroke and crossed the bridge June 5th of 2019 in her mom's arms. You will be missed Anna Banana.

Hope is a tiny little girl with the prettiest dark, red brindle coat. Her birthday is April 20th 2006. She is just a bit shy and unsure of herself at first mainly just around men but warms up fast. Hope never raced because she would not chase the lure and would just stop in the middle of the track during training. She tested cat and small dog safe and was even a bit afraid of the cats so would be fine living with either. Hope has been in an adoptive home since she was just 18 months old. When Hope's owner had to go into a nursing home, one of her caregivers took Hope temporarily but eventually we had to find her a permanent home. She lived with another older female greyhound in her previous home and seems to get along well with others. Hope is already home acclimated and is a sweet, well behaved girl. She crates well and likes to go there during thunderstorms which scare her. Some of the photos of Hope were taken when she was 18 months old when she first retired from the track but she looks nearly the same now. There are a couple of recent full length photos of her under her other photos - the one of her stretching and the photo of her with the lab. This is a cute sweet girl that is already house trained and used to living in a home. She grins when she is happy to see you and will lay at your feet and make little moaning noises to get your attention - mainly if no one is petting her. She is such a cute girl with the sweetest personality!

Hope was with the Lindenfeld family until she passed away from Bone Cancer on May 31st of 2019 at 13 years old. She will be missed.

He raced 44 races but only won 3 of those. He got a lot of 2nds though. Since he wasn't really good his racing career was short. He will turn 3 on April 25th. His sire is Iruska All Star and his dam is Iruska Promise. He passed his cat and small dog tests at the track so should be fine to live with either. He is described as pretty calm dog but not a total couch potato. Generally good on leash and pretty friendly. Approaching people for affection and love but in a calm way. More as we get to know him.

Dezzie was not actually placed through our group, but one of our volunteers owned her as a racer from the time she was a tiny pup. She only raced 12 races and only won one of those. Dezzie normally came in toward the back of the pack. She raced at Palm Beach and Sanford Orlando. When she retired she was sent up to her racing owner in NC to be her pet. Dezzie's sire was the famous Kiowa Mon Manny and her dam was Skiddy Belle. She was born on June 27th of 2014. She was a happy friendly girl that made an impact on everyone she met. In June of 2018 she was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease that paralyzed her overnight. She was in ICU for 10 days and spent months recovering. She was a fighter and bounced back. You would never have known she was sick and her family called her their "Miracle Girl". She did have to continue taking meds to keep it under control but they stopped working in May of 2019 and she had a flare up that she couldn't recover from. She passed away on May 28th 2019 just shy of her 5th birthday. Her family says the house is so empty without her.

Lancelot is a gorgeous big shiny black male that raced at 82 lbs. He just came in from the Birmingham Adoption Kennel but didn't actually race there. He was sent there because they transport dogs to adoption groups across the country. He actually raced 132 races mostly at the Sanford Orlando Race Track. He also raced briefly at Palm Beach in FL. He raced most of his career at the mid levels of racing but did get up to the top A level a few times and did win some races. He retired February 12th and has been waiting since then for a group to take him. His sire is Turbo Lennie and his dam is Gable India. Lancelot was way too interested in chasing cats to be able to live with them, but he did fine with a small Italian greyhound he met after sniffing it and realizing it was a dog. He should be fine to live with small dogs with a proper introduction. At a distance he tends to mistake most small critters for bunnies though. Lancelot is a big strong boy that needs some work on walking on leash because he wants to check out everything at once. He is very friendly and happy and just a sweet, confident, social guy. Because he is so big and strong we think he would do best in a home with no small kids that he could accidentally knock over. Lancelot could be your knight in shining, black, furry armor! What a gorgeous guy!

Lancelot had to have emergency surgery May16th of 2019. He came through the surgery fine and was sent home. He passed away at home in his sleep the night after his surgery. He was so young and only was with his family a year. He will greatly be missed.

Ace is a beautiful brindle male that just retired from the race track where he was racing at 76lbs. He is pretty young at just 2.5 years old and was born on April 17th, 2009. He is living with a cat and the 7 and 3 year old children in his foster home so should be fine in a home with cats, kids or small dogs. Ace has really adjusted to home life quickly. He is a total love bug and will come up and lean on you to get petted - we call it a "greyhound hug". Ace is also a kisser. He loves to play with squeakie toys and gathers them all up and hoards them in his crate after he is done playing with them. His favorites are the stuffed animals. Ace enjoys running and playing in the backyard and loves playing with the other greyhounds in his foster home. His foster home says he is very intelligent and picks up on things quickly. This is a sweet, friendly, fun, boy that seems like the type that will easily fit into just about any home.

Ace lived in a wonderful home for over 7 years. His family had to help him cross the bridge due to nerve damage and pain that continued to get worse after a tumble down some stairs. Rest In Peace Ace.

Harmon is a red male that is a big traveler racing at 5 different tracks - Abiline KS, Bluffs Run and Dubuque in IA, then on to Palm Beach and Sanford Orlando tracks in Florida. He had 51 races to his credit and raced at 71lbs so is a medium sized male. His sire is Iceman Brutus and his dam is Rocking Jade. He was born on March 19th 2010 and retired at 3 years old. Harmon rode well on the trip and didn't seem to be phased at all by traveling. He hops into the van on his own and doesn't need a boost. He settled nicely in his crate the first night and didn't make a peep. He also potties well on leash so doesn't require a fenced yard and may be a good choice for apartment living. Harmon is very friendly and happy and is a real leaner going up to strangers and wrapping himself around them for love. He needs some work on walking on leash because he is excited to check everything out and can't decide where to go first so ends up doing a lot of zig zagging but settles down after a little ways and walks beside you. He is smart and learns quickly. Harmon did great at his first meet and greet at a hockey game. He loved all the people he met adults and kids. The noises and crowd didn't phase him. He had a great time! He met some small dogs outside that were barking and running and he didn't pay any attention to them at all so appears to be very small dog tolerant. He has been living in a foster home with cats and a ferret and is great with both. This is a very sweet loving guy!

Harmon was adopted and with a family for a couple of years until 2015, but was found running loose and taken to Animal Control. He was held there for quite awhile before we were notified and picked him up. His former family never looked for him or notified us that he was loose in that week. When we notified them that we had him, they declined to take him back because of personal issues. Harmon had developed some issues with his space and seemed like a completely different dog. He no longer liked going out to meet and greets and wasn't good with kids. He was very happy and comfortable in his foster home though, so his foster home decided that they would just keep him. The Crouch family had him until April 22, 2019, when Harmon took a tumble running in his backyard and injured his back badly. He was in a lot of pain and his family helped him cross the bridge. He was very loved and will be missed by his family.

Tory is a sweet, waggy girl with a very loving personality. She was born on Christmas eve of 2007. She passed her cat and small dog test at the track so should be able to live with either. She raced at 63lbs. She probably would not do well in an apartment because she does not like to potty on leash. Since she needs her privacy she would do best in a home with fenced yard. This is one SWEET SWEET girl that has been very well behaved in her foster home. Tory is very loving and will bond to her family quickly. If you look at her old photos you will see her amazing transformation. When she arrived she had fleas and had a lot of hair loss from them. Now that her hair has grown back in she is a sleek, shiny, beauty as you can see from her most recent photo.

Tory was adopted by the Griffin family 7/23/11. She lived a wonderful life with them until she passed away January 17th of 2019 at 11.5 years old. RIP Tory you will always be daddy's little girl.

Fancy is a cute little girl that raced at 61lbs. Her birthday is August 2nd and she is a daughter of the famous Dodgem By Design. Fancy is already home acclimated and has been living in her racing owner's home since she retired in October. Her racing owner already has a number of pet greyhounds so is not able to keep Fancy, even though she would like to. Fancy has great house manners and is very well behaved. She will give a quick bark if she needs to go out to potty and another at the door to let you know she is done and ready to come back in. She LOVES people and will stick close to you if she is awake. She will put her front legs and chest in your lap on a chair to snuggle with you. So far she has not gotten up on furniture though except for this, but we are pretty sure she would with a little encouragement. Fancy loves to play outside and will play with toys outside and entertain herself even if no humans or dogs want to play with her. She seems to really like playing with balls. She was living with quite a few other large dogs of different breeds and gets along great with males and other females. She has even done great with the small 13lb Italian Greyhound in her foster home. She also passed her cat test and even seemed to like the cat as she rubbed up against it - until it smacked her for it. Then she decided it was best not to be too friendly with cats. She is more focused on interacting with the humans than playing with the other dogs so might be OK as an only dog too. Fancy crates well and is quiet in her crate except for a little whining at meal times.

Fancy was adopted by the Smith family of Durham NC on 4/8/12. She was renamed Fern and had a wonderful home with them until she passed away 1/19/19 at 10.5 years old. She will be missed.

Vanna came from John and Diane Galui's kennel at the Sanford Orlando Race Track. She was a kennel favorite of Diane's while racing because of her sweet, friendly, calm disposition. The fact that she is so beautiful probably played a part in that too. Vanna raced at 64lbs and her DOB is 5/19/07. Her sire is the famous Castor Troy and her dam is Rx Sensation. She had a long race career at Palm Beach first and then finished up at Sanford Orlando. Vanna wants to stay near people and will often lean up against you. She travels well and seems to like to go.  She was very spoiled at the race track and they said she expected special treatment and is a bit of a Diva. She seems to have a very low prey drive and had no interest in chasing small dogs or cats. This is a super sweet girl that even stands out in a kennel full of dogs. Vanna loves to play with toys and likes rope toys and stuffed animals best. She will throw them around and pounce on them.

Update after adoption: Vanna was adopted a couple of times but kept coming back to her foster home. They finally decided that she was going to stay - she had known she was supposed to all along. The Doby family adopted her on 7/30/2010 and she was with them the rest of her life. Vanna promoted greyhound adoption at Charlotte and Salisbury adoption events and lived a long life. She passed away on 3/18/2019 as an old lady after a seizure that she didn't recover from. She was a diva and a one of kind dog. She liked to kill snakes even though she gotten bitten several times by copperheads. She was the best meet and greet dog ever and her dad is really going to miss her.

Hot Dog came from the track adoption kennel in Jacksonville Florida and he raced at 67lbs. He is tall, narrow, and on the thin side so should max out at between 70 and 75lbs at a good pet weight. This is a friendly, happy, calm boy that has been very well behaved since he arrived in his foster home. He has had no accidents in the house and is very quiet in his kennel. He is a grinner and will happily grin up at you when happy or excited. He is a gorgeous black male with white socks and a white chest. Very flashy! Hot Dog was born Nov 17th 2005. He was a very successful racer that won a lot of races and raced a long time. He crates well and quietly so might be OK as an apartment or townhouse dog. His foster mom was sick recently and he laid right by her side the entire time watching over her. He is just so sweet! He is very good with children. This is a dog that was suggested to us as one that would be a good family dog because he has been around the children of his racing trainer often and was very good with them. Even though he is calm he does have a silly side and is likely to play bow to you trying to get you to play with him. The play only lasts for a little while because Hot Dog is a typical greyhound couch potato. Hot Dog needs a home without cats, he is just too interested in them. He was fine with small dogs when he was introduced to them one on one and allowed to sniff but at a distance he can mistake them for bunnies or squirrels so may do better living in a home with medium sized dogs. He loves to play with other dogs but only for a very short time. Typically our non cat friendly dogs take months longer to adopt than our cat friendly ones. If you do not have cats please consider adopting one of our sweet non cat safe dogs like Hot Dog.

Hot Dog was adopted by the Ahl family of Myrtle Beach in June of 2012. They called him Hottie and he lived a long happy life with them and passed away 3/22/19 at 13.5 years old. They say he was the sweetest boy of the 11 greyhounds they have had over the years. He will be missed.

Boomer is a brindle boy that raced at 72lbs. His sire is TNT Star Wars and his dam is Speedy Petal. He only raced 18 races at Southland in Arkansas and broke his hock October 3 of 2013, back when he was only 2. The break was splinted there by a vet and he was sent to us for rehab. Our vets also checked his leg and agreed that he would heal up fine in a splint and the break wouldn't require surgery. Boomer's break healed up nicely and he was adopted in December of 2013. He was returned to us for rehoming in 2017 because of financial problems, that made a move in with relatives necessary. Boomer was adopted quickly then and has been in a home for over a year. Boomer has just been returned again because his mom's health is failing. She is no longer able to care for him. This sweet boy has just had some bad luck over the years. Boomer likes to go on short walks and is great on leash. He can run around and do whatever he feels like doing, but probably wouldn't enjoy long hikes or jogs due to the old injury. He does favor the leg sometimes. Boomer turned 7 on August 11th. He is a sweet, very calm boy that is very good and already home acclimated. He is a little timid at first and a bit overwhelmed but warms up. He is very lazy and is happy to just have a soft dog bed to lay on. He isn't a dog that follows you or bothers you for attention. Boomer potties nicely on leash so may not need a fenced yard. He is a gorgeous, brindle boy with the prettiest eyes. Boomer has lived with cats and small dogs in his first home. When Boomer was first with us he loved his crate and was very quiet in it while he was on crate rest for the broken leg. He was so quiet in his crate we felt he may be a great apartment dog. He would probably not be able to do a lot of stairs due to his old injury and would at least need an apartment on the ground floor. He would be perfect for someone that didn't have much time or energy for walking and exercising dogs. His former owner says he loves kids and she is hoping that he gets a home with a child. The pictures are from when he first arrived and was younger.

Boomer passed away in February of 2019 after developing Bone cancer. He was only in his final home a few months after his return. He will be missed.

Rulz just arrived from the Bolton Kennel at the Sanford Orlando Race Track. He raced 127 races. Rulz was a good racer starting out his career at the top track in the country, Southland. He won some races there and got up to the A level. He was moved to Orlando in March of 2017 and has been there racing since. He is a rare blue brindle which means he has gray stripes instead of black stripes like most brindles. Rulz will turn 4 on September 6th. His sire is Surf Lorian and his dam is Travel N Time. He is a very calm guy that gets along very well with all the other dogs in the kennel. He is very well behaved and very sweet. We have been waiting on him to retire since we met him. Rulz traveled well and quickly settled himself on a dog bed as soon as he reached his foster home. He is a calmly friendly guy that seeks out attention and love calmly. He gives sweet kisses too. Wood floors and steps don't seem to phase him. He settled into home life right away. Rulz passed his cat test and small dog tests without much interest. He liked the small children he met too.

Rulz was adopted by the Chapman family of Rock Hill SC in August of 2018 and was renamed Tupelo. He had a very short but happy life with them before contracting an illness that took his life in January of 2019. His vets were unable to identify what caused his seizures and severe illness. Tupelo will be missed by his family.

Cody just arrived from the Sanford Orlando Race Track. He is an extra large male that is 88lbs. He is so tall that he wouldn't fit into the standard crate at the race track so they had to fix a special one for him to give him enough room. He is very tall and lanky with long legs and a long tail that touches the ground. He is a young guy that was only at the track for a few schooling races and just was so big and uncoordinated that they didn't think he was cut out to be a racer. So he never had one official race. He is a very young guy that won't turn 2 until November 18th. His sire is BD's Grayson and his dam is D's Pride. Cody is very quiet in his crate so may be good for someone living in an apartment. He is very calm for a pup but does enjoy running in the yard sometimes. He still has some puppy fuzz that will shed out later. He is a friendly guy that is good on leash in spite of his size. He kind of leans into you on walks and likes to stay close. He travels very well and just lays down in the back of his foster mom's van.  He seems like he wants to please and do the right thing. More as we get to know this sweet, gentle giant. Cody was brought in as a special request for a previous greyhound adopter that lives in Massachusetts. He is not available.

Cody had a wonderful home for a year and a half. He passed away due to traumatic injuries after falling down a flight of stairs in January of 2019. He will be missed by his family and everyone that met him. Such a sweet loving guy!

Daisy came to us as a puppy. She was too shy to race and flunked out of training because she just was so scared that she couldn't really be handled by people. It took months of patience to be able to get this shy little girl to warm up and by that time her foster home decided to keep her. Daisy came from a farm near Tallahassee Florida and was going to race at the now closed Jefferson County Kennel Club Race Track if she had made it through training. Her farm was near that track and her owner had a couple of race kennels there. Some of her littermates weren't as shy and did race there. Daisy never actually finished her registration process and didn't get an official racing name since she flunked out of training. Daisy was born on March 15th 2004 and we got her just a little over a year later. Daisy warmed up to her adoptive family but was always afraid of children because she had never seen kids at her farm. Daisy's sire was Tame Game and her dam was Barts Cookie. We ended up placing 6 of her littermates. Only two of them were as shy as Daisy. She was one of the fuzziest greyhounds we have ever seen with a thick coat and very fuzzy tail. Daisy lived with the Owens family for 13 years and passed away at 4.5 years old in October of 2018. Be sure to look at her other pictures to see how much her coloring changed over the years.

Fostered by (location):

Adoption Status: Adopted by the Wiltsie family of Duncan 8/16/16

Willy came in from the Palm Beach Race track. He never actually raced there. In schooling races he would try to chase the lure but could only run slowly around the track and couldn't keep up with the other greyhounds at all. So he retired without an official race. When we took him to our vet we found out there was a reason that he couldn't run. He has a very weak heart that is failing. Our vet guesses that Willy only has about a year to live. Our vet decided to adopt him and give him the best care and meds he can possibly have in what little time he has left. Willy is a sweet, brindle boy that is very loving. His sire is Kiowa Wish Frank and his dam is Rosalina. He is a very young guy that won't even turn 2 until October 29th.

Willy lived a great but short life with Dr Wiltsie. She was able to give him more time than she thought and he lived until September 13th 2018. Willy was also known as the Goat. He went to work with his mom at Healthpointe Veterinary Clinic and was spoiled rotten by the staff there. Goodbye sweet WillyGoat. You will be missed.

Adoption Status: Adopted to Plauche Family of Brunswick, GA 3/10/12

Kareem has been in a home before so is home acclimated and has good house manners. He has lived with cats and small dogs and is fine with them. He is a friendly, loving guy and very sweet. He is a smaller guy that raced at just 69lbs. Kareem's birthday is December 12th. Kareem's only negative is that he is very food motivated and has shown some possessiveness over his food occasionally. We are working on that with him. Because of that we think he would do better in a home with no children even though he has lived with children and has always been gentle with them. Kareem is such a gorgeous guy!

Kareem was called Mr Big after he was adopted and was with his family nearly 7 years. He passed away on October 1st of 2018. He is remembered as the sweetest, silliest, funniest, snuggliest, most loving boy his owners could ever have asked for. He will be missed terribly. Run free and fast, big guy.

Adoption Status: Adopted by Lockman, 5.27.14

Heart is a littermate to Rumble that is arriving with her. She was called Racin when she was racing but has been called Heart since at the farm so has two names. She was a better racer than her sister starting out at Derby Lane winning most of her top level A races then moved to Southland in Arkansas to race in AA races. She only raced 45 races and got bumped in a turn when she was at the top of her game and was injured in January of 2010. Heart raced at 67lbs and is a daughter to Wheelie Cool who we also placed. Her sire is Maryville Rumble. She was born Oct 13th of 2006. Heart went to Kansas to became a mom after she was retired and has 4 litters of puppies (26) that are already racing. Now she has retired from being a mom and is ready to start her new career as a pet. Her trainer says both girls were calm well behaved dogs that he loved having the kennel. More as we get to know her.

Heart's name was changed to Raisen after adoption. She was with them 4 years before she passed away in her sleep in October of 2018 after an illness.

Fostered by (location):

Adoption Status: Congrats to the Fox Family of Aiken 2/2/13

Tom is a striking small, young, bright red, brindle boy that weighs 65lb and is mostly red without a lot of striping. He passed his cat and small dog tests and is OK to live with either. Tom was pretty shy when he first arrived but after living in an adoptive home for a year has become much more outgoing. Tom is an economy return that is available again through no fault of his own. His owner loved him and tried to keep him but just couldn't do it. Greyhounds rarely make good watchdogs but Tom may be the exception to that rule. He will bark a couple of barks to let you know people have arrived at the house. For this reason Tom would probably not be the best dog for an apartment or townhouse. Tom walks great on leash and is a happy boy that has good house manners. He does need to go outside every 4 or 5 hours and can't hold it for an entire work day like some greyhounds can. He will need someone that can come home at lunch to let him out or someone that works shorter days. We have him marked older kids only because loud running children have made him nervous in the past. He has been absolutely fine with kids at the meet and greets he has gone to and with visiting children but living with small kids would probably be stressful for him. We think Tom would do best in a home with other dogs to hang out with when people leave because he does seem to stress when he is left totally alone but does much better when he is with other dogs. Tom celebrated his 4th birthday on Christmas day. Just look at that cute puppy face! Already home acclimated too!

Tom passed away in 2018. He will be missed very much.

Maddy is a tiny fawn girl that only weighs 50lbs but should weigh 56lbs according to her racing weight. She celebrates her 7th birthday on December 22nd. She is a return that has already been in a home for years so already has good house manners and is well behaved. She is a very sweet loving girl but can be a little timid at first and we think loud fast moving kids are likely to scare her so we listed her as older children only. She passed her small dog test so can live with them but still needs cat testing. She is calm and sweet and so adorable! Maddy's sire is the famous Flying Penske and her dam is TM's Very Few Do.

After she was adopted by the Mitchell family, they returned her to Project Racing Home in Randleman NC. That group let us know that they rehomed her with another family. They let us know that Maddie passed away in 2018.

Buddy is a medium sized guy that raced at 74lbs. His birthday is July 30th and he is 3 years old. Buddy's sire is the famous Lonesome Cry and his dam is Bee Bee so he is related to several dogs that we have placed already. Buddy seems to be a little too interested in chasing cats so will need a home without them. Buddy is very loving, happy, friendly guy and wants to be with people. When people leave he needs to have other dogs around. He doesn't do well being left entirely by himself and gets stressed. Buddy is a super sweet guy that is very loving.

Buddy crossed the rainbow bridge in 2018 and will be missed

Mai raced 27 races at Lincoln Park and Palm Beach. She wasn't very good but had a blood line that was good so she became a mom after she retired. She had 3 pups in January of 2009 and now has been retired from that life too. Mai was born on 3/24/05. She has settled into her new foster home very nicely. She walks very well on leash & potties on leash, crates well & loves to go on car rides. Mai can be an active girl & just loves playing with her toys, squeakies best of all!! She's gotten along very well with long dogs & 5 lb dogs in her foster homes. She can get a little protective of toys she's playing closely with tho so is learning manners on proper sharing. She's a small to average size girl at around 62 lbs & has a gorgeous petite face. We got to introduce her to stairs which she took in stride with a little practice. Mai would love to have 2 legged or 4 legged siblings to play with & a fenced yard or play dates to stretch her legs every so often. She is a social butterfly & enjoys going to meet & greets to show off her beauty & meet everyone that will stop to pet her. May also enjoys the quiet moments of snuggling on the floor & would fit into almost any home!!

Mai was loved by the Fischer family and was loved very much. She crossed the bridge in 2017 at 12 years old from Osteosarcoma - bone cancer

Mercy is a white female that has black ticking (freckles or dalmation spots). She just turned four April 23 and raced at 60lbs. Mercy is a fun, playful, energetic girl. She was fine with a medium sized dog that she was tested with at the track but was marginal with the cats in her cat test - not horrible but not great either so they think she may not be safe with them. We will do more testing after she is vetted to see how she is with smaller dogs and may redo her cat test to see if how well she responds to training with the cats.

Mercy was adopted by the Reich family 5/9/11 and was very much loved up until she passed away 3/21/18

Goofy is a tiny guy that is smaller than most female greyhounds. This cute guy actually grins. That is why we picked him out of all the available dogs at the race kennel. If anyone got near his kennel he would give you a big grin and try to kiss your hand through the bars while he was wagging his whole body. If someone talked to him he would spin around in his crate in happiness. He is such a cute little, happy, loving guy we just couldn't resist him. He potties well on leash so may be OK without a fenced yard. He has great house manners and likes children and has lived with them in his foster home. He gets along well with the greyhounds in his foster home males and females. He still needs to be tested with cats. Goofy is a fun, playful, silly guy that loves playing with toys and balls. His foster family has nicknamed him Hollywood because he is always smiling and looks ready for his closeup. He is going to be a fun little guy for some lucky family. Congratulations to his foster family the McKees!!! Goofy will be staying with them!

Goofy ended up being called Jack and was in his home with the McKee family until he passed away in February of 2018.
