Jolene is a gorgeous, shiny, black girl with a lot of personality. She is very sweet and friendly. She is retiring from the Sanford Orlando Track where she raced 86 races. She mainly was competitive at the lower levels but did get up to B level. Jolene is a tall girl that raced at 64lbs and turned 3 on April 18th. Her sire is Fuzzys Cannon and her dam is Flat Out Uma. She passed her cat test without much interest in the cat and is being fostered with cats and small dogs. Jolene seems like a very smart girl because she was able to easily remove her muzzle. She was quiet in her kennel and very well behaved once she got to the house and traveled well in the van. More as we get to know this outgoing girl.

Browning just arrived from the Daytona Beach Race Track. He only had 2 official races listed and didn't do well in either of them so retired young. He is a beautiful brindle. Light fawn with black stripes. Browning has a white blaze on his nose and white socks and chest. He is very flashy looking. He has cute floppy ears too. Browning raced at 70lbs so is a smaller male. He is very young and won't turn 2 until November 28th. His sire is Locall Torino and his dam is Knock Out Pretty. Browning is a very friendly boy that gives lots of kisses. He is just precious and seems pretty calm for one so young. He rode well on the trip up and didn't seem very stressed at all. Very sweet and a natural sitter unlike most greyhounds that find the position uncomfortable. He was initially very interested in the cat but as soon as the cat slapped him he wouldn't go near it again and seemed like he had learned that cats are not to be messed with. We have him listed as trainable because we think he would do OK in a home with a confident cat with supervision. He did fine with the small dogs he met too. Browning has been very quiet in his foster home when she leaves him alone so might be OK for apartment living.

Clint came in from the Daytona Track. He raced all of his 198 races there. He was a good racer that won at the top A level and won a lot of races. Clint is a tall boy that raced at 78lbs. He turned 4 on March 18th. Clint's sire is RA Blazer and his dam is Racheal Lee. Clint is a very calm, sweet boy that is good with kids. He was around his trainers kids at the racing kennel and has been living in a home with a small child since August. Clint is very loving and just comes up and leans on you for love or puts his head on you. He was one of his trainers favorites in the kennel. Clint doesn't jump on people or get real excited. Just a sweet, calm, loving guy. Clint rode with his head on our volunteers' shoulder all the way to SC from FL. Clint passed his cat and small dog tests easily. Even though he likes small dogs, he hasn't figured out how to play gently with them, so needs a home with larger dogs only.

Rocket just arrived from the Southland race track in Arkansas where he was quite the star. He raced and won at the top AA level at there and it is one of the top tracks in the country. Rocket also competed in special Stakes races for the very fastest dogs at that track. This is an amazing racer! Rocket ran 121 races and is a taller guy at 78lbs. His sire is Flying Coal City and his dam is Bi's Hunter. Rocket will turn 4 on December 28th. Rocket is friendly and sweet and makes great eye contact. He has a lot of dark eyeliner around his eyes and is very cute staring up at you with those big eyes. He is a happy, bouncy, boy that is very loving and loves to be with his people. He bounces happily to see you when you come home but doesn't jump on you. Like most greyhounds he is very calm and naps a lot. He does make a little noise in this kennel so wouldn't be a good apartment or townhouse dog. He mainly makes noise when he is waiting his turn to go outside. Rocket is good on leash and will go potty on leash so may not need a fenced yard. He passed his cat and small dog tests easily and was very good with the free roaming cats in the vet's office. Rocket was a little stressed when he first came in so he does seem like a somewhat sensitive boy but he got over that within a few days. He isn't shy at all with people and did great at his first meet and greet at a huge Home and Garden Show. He is also doing very well with a toddler in his foster home. He playbows, spins and will do a cute little bark to try to get you to play with him. This is a very sweet, cute, superstar with a fun personality.

Sam is a young guy that turned 2 on October 26th. He came from a Daytona Beach Kennel closing. He only raced 25 races, some at Daytona and some at Derby Lane. He did win one of those. His sire is BD's Grayson and his dam is Flying Scarlet. We placed his full sister from another litter Flyin Band Perry and she is a wonderful girl. Sam's litter were all named for Gone with the Wind characters. He raced at 73lbs but is very tall for that weight. Sam has been very calm and laid back in his foster home for a guy that is so young. He passed his cat and small dog tests with only a few polite sniffs. The cat smacked him and he wouldn't go near it again and just wanted out of the room as fast as possible. He is used to being around kids because his trainer brought her 3 boys to the kennel with her and he was fostered with a toddler. He is a very loving guy with everyone and seems to really love children. He chose to stay near the toddler in his foster home even when he was in the bathtub and doesn't seem to mind wearing bubbles. He very much wants human companionship and will follow his people quietly as they move through their normal day, choosing to be with them whenever possible.  He potties well on leash too so would be comfortable in almost any living situation.  We recommend supervision when living with small dogs especially around food and treats, and a crate helps him settle and sleep quietly when left alone. Sam is a beautiful, stately greyhound boy who's very ready to find the perfect home. He seems to have the perfect personality for Therapy or Service work and is very attentive to his owners.

Jamie came in from the Daytona Beach Race Track. She is a tiny 54lb female that turned 2 on March 6th. Her sire is Iruska All Star and her dam is Iruska Kittle. She has 31 races listed at Daytona Beach and Sanford Orlando Tracks in Florida and at Tri State in WV. She only won one race but did place some. She travels well and passed her cat and small dog tests after she arrived. Jamie potties nicely on leash and goes up and down stairs really well. She is very loving and gives little kisses and hugs. Jamie was adopted and has been living in as an only dog in apartment for a month because she was a very quiet dog that didn't make any noise in her racing kennel or at her foster home. She was a great apartment dog until the last week. She has suddenly gotten stressed when left and started making noise so can't stay in the apartment and is looking for a new home. She would probably do better in a home with other dogs so she isn't totally alone when left. Jamie was great with the child in her first foster home. Jamie is a cute, sweet, friendly girl that will make a great pet. Just adorable!

Her Pedigree

Jamie is not only beautiful, but also sweet. She ate a great dinner and breakfast and took a treat from my hand. She is very curious of all the new things she is seeing. She peed and pooped on leash. She went down all the stairs to the backyard like a champ last night, but needed some encouragement to go back up. This morning, she just ran right up those stairs. She gives little kisses and is a serious hugger. I felt like I was walking a kangaroo at times. LOL She slept all night long without a peep! She will be an awesome girl for some family.

Fostered by (location):

Adoption Status: Adopted by the Marks family 10/10/15

John Reese's litter were all named for Person of Interest characters. John was an amazing racer, racing at one of the top tracks in the country and at the very top level AA. He even won a Stakes race which are limited to the very best racers at that track. We feel like we should ask him for his autograph because he was such a star. He raced 139 races mostly at the very top levels. John turned 4 on July 5th. His sire is Gable Dodge and his dam is O Jays. John was understandably a kennel favorite and is missed by his trainer. He has a wonderful, outgoing, curious personality. John is a big stocky, muscular guy that raced at 78lbs. He has put on a little weight since he retired and was 80lbs at the vet's. He loves people and will put his paws up to give hugs, which we discourage because of his size, even though it is cute. John is quiet and is being fostered in an apartment. He learned how to do the stairs and elevator there the first day and is not stressed by new things. He is very strong and excitable and pulls on leash, so his foster home is working on that. John is just so curious and wants to go see everything and greet everyone on walks, but is learning to control his enthusiasm.  John was initially very curious about the cat until the cat slapped him. He quickly decided not to go back near the cat. We think he is trainable, especially with a cat that would stand his ground and slap him if he shows any interest at all. Because John is big, strong and excitable we have him marked "older children" only. We don't think he would intentionally harm a kid, but he could accidentally knock down a toddler by jumping on him or excitedly bumping into him. John would probably love to play with older kids though. Even though he is higher energy for a greyhound, he still is good when left home alone and just plays quietly with his toys, has no potty accidents and isn't destructive. He is very smart and learned in a day how to work lever type door handles in the house. John loves to chase a squeaker tennis ball and a few minutes in the morning and evening playing with the ball helps wear him out. This would be a wonderful greyhound for agility, obedience or other dog sports since he isn't the typical couch potato. He would love hiking and doing things with his family. John is a handsome, loving guy that is full of personality that is going to make a fun pet for a lucky family.

His Pedgree

John is a pretty large guy that raced at 78lbs but has put on a little weight since he retired and is very large.

George was a good racer, that raced 165 races, mostly at the top A level and even raced in a stakes race. He started out at Sanford Orlando then was moved to Derby Lane. He was owned by Don Burk and his racing name is his owner's name spelled backwards with a Y added. George's sire is Fortunate Son and his dam is Doe's Ruby. He turned 5 on June 20th. George is a very good, calm loving dog. He passed his cat and small dog test without interest in chasing either so should be fine in a home with cats or small dogs. His foster dad thinks he would be an easy addition to just about any home and would be the perfect greyhound for a first time greyhound owner. His foster dad described him as the "perfect greyhound". He has been in a home before but was returned due to one of his family members allergies to dogs.

Leo is strong and pulls on leash so his foster home is working on teaching him good leash manners. Leo passed his cat and small dog tests. He immediately wanted to run over and sniff both, but just wanted to sniffed, then quickly lost interest and checked out everything else in the room. Leo is doing great in foster care and has wonderful house manners. He bonded quickly to his foster family and is very sweet and loving. When he first arrived he seemed like the most confident, friendly guy around. As he has relaxed, he has shown that he isn't quite as confident as he appeared and has a sensitive side. He does sometimes shy away from loud noises and people and other dogs that approach too quickly. Leo is being fostered in a condo and is a pretty quiet guy that should be OK for apartment or townhouse living.

Linden came to us from the Sanford Orlando Race Track. He is an extra large white male with brindle spots that raced at 80lbs. He started racing at Naples-Ft Myers track but just couldn't keep up with the other dogs in the 4 races he ran there. He was moved to Sanford Orlando and raced one more race there, but he came in last place so he was retired. He is young and turned 2 on February 17th. Linden is pretty laid back and calm. He is friendly and seems like a sweet, gentle, giant of a dog. His sire is Djays Octane and his dam is DS Mariah. Linden rode very well on the trip up from Florida and just got in the van, laid down and slept most of the way. He is very good and walks on a loose leash most of the time, unless he gets startled by something. He does startle with some new things.  A bike going by startled him and a loud-speaker scared him, but he isn't bothered by thunderstorms or even all the motorcycles driving by our meet and greet at a Harley shop. He has a lot of new things to be introduced too and should stay on a shorter leash and maybe wear a harness until he gets more comfortable. Linden has been good with the kids and small dogs he has met.

Elliot is a young guy that won't turn 2 until Sept 11th. His sire is the very famous Kiowa Sweet Trey and his dam is KL Elaborate Eva. He raced at 73lbs so is a mid sized guy. He is friendly and goes up to strangers right away for attention but seems a little overwhelmed by new places and things. He wasn't sure about the van we drove him back from the vet in and tried to climb out a window that was not open. When he realized he couldn't do that, he tried to climb over a seat. When he couldn't do that either he just gave up and curled up in a small spot and hid his face for the rest of the ride. At the vet's office they called him "Prince Charming" because he was so handsome and goofy. He is very young, silly and doesn't have a lot of confidence yet but is a very sweet boy that likes people. He has quickly adapted to his foster home and is silly, happy and loves to play.

She turned 2 on December 22nd. She is very friendly and sweet. Kat has a very light hair coat even for a greyhound. If you want a greyhound that won't shed much this is your girl! Kat has been in an adoptive home since June, but is being returned because her owner does not have a fenced yard and has to leash walk her. Kat is great on leash except when she sees the rabbits in the neighborhood on walks. She pulled her elderly owner down a couple of times trying to go after a rabbit. Kat does potty nicely on leash and is great on leash most of the time. Since she is a tiny female she just needs an owner that is a little stronger and maybe fewer rabbits in the yard. Kat is pretty confident and curious about new things and loves everyone she meets. She is a great girl, but like a typical greyhound, does get a little excited when she sees a rabbit. Kit Kat likes kids and has been around them in her former home.

Cleburne is a girl that one of our volunteers owns and the same volunteer also owns one of Kaleb's brothers from a previous litter so we are very excited to be able to bring Kaleb in as well. Kaleb rode well on the trip up to SC from FL and seems to like to travel. He is a friendly boy that seems pretty calm and well behaved. Kaleb's foster mom says he is very good and is an easy foster that should be perfect for a first time greyhound owner. He did not pass his cat test so won't be able to live in a home with kitties. He was very good with the small white Italian Greyhound he met though so should be fine to live with small dogs. Dreamer just turned 3 on August 7th. She passed her cat test and her small dog test, just sniffing politely and showing no interest in chasing either so should be fine in a home with either. She is more shy than her brothers were and will need time to warm up to her new family and new situations. She had a female trainer at the track so is used to women but more timid around men. Dreamer didn't seem to be scared by fireworks though. She is very quiet in her crate and seems to feel safe there. Dreamer follows the lead of more confident dogs so she would do best in a home with another more confident dog. She is a genetically shy girl that we refer to as a spook. Dreamer had good care at the track and her shyness is not because of anything bad happening to her. She is slowly warming up to her foster family and has started initiating play with her foster mom. She is much more cautious around her foster dad. She loves the other dogs in her foster family and is not shy with other dogs at all. She is very playful with other dogs and always plays nicely with her Irish Wolfhound foster sister and her greyhound foster sister. Her foster family has been taking her out a lot to different places like the farmers market and PetSmart to socialize her and introduce her to new places and she does better every time she goes out. She has even been to an obedience class, just to be around new people, not to actually learn tricks. Dreamer will need a family that understands that shy dogs need patience and time to warm up. She will eventually be very loving and completely devoted to her family, but may always be cautious around strangers and may not ever be really comfortable out in new places. We have her listed as no small kids because she is so timid, not because she would ever be a threat to a child. The fast movements and loud noises that small kids make scare her, so we think it would take her much longer to warm up to a family with toddlers. Older calmer kids would be better. Dreamer is such a sweet girl and makes so much progress every day with her foster family. We would love to get her in a new home soon.

So far she has been complaining a bit in her kennel so may not be the best dog for apartment living. Lucy is a very gentle, loving girl. Dusty just arrived from the Orlando Race Track. He also raced at Orange Park and Daytona Beach in Florida. He raced 123 races and got up to A level. Dusty is a stocky guy that raced at 77lbs. He turned 3 on April 6th. His sire is BD's Flip and his dam is BF Oxbow Ruby. Dusty is a very calm, friendly, boy that is very well behaved.  He is doing well on the hardwood floors in his foster home. He potties well on leash and enjoys going for walks. Dusty is very quiet and hasn't barked at all so might make a good apartment or townhouse dog. He had a small cut on his leg and left his bandage on for a couple of days and never even tried to take it off himself. This is a very good boy! He passed his cat test too. He seemed like he had met cats before. He was cautiously curious but stayed out of reach of the cat. When the cat hissed and slapped toward him, Dusty yelped and leaped back even though the cat hadn't even come close to touching him. After that he didn't even want to look at the cat. He knows his name and knows "No" and responds right away to any correction. He is very loving and loves to be with his family and will stand next to you for head and back rubs. Sweet boy! His trainer said he was always good in the kennel in the 2 plus years that she had him. He was very good-natured, so much so that he got peed on in turn out by a few of the other boys and he never took offense.

Java's litter was named for coffee. His sire is the famous Trent Lee and his dam is DS Stormy. Java is a handsome tall boy with a white blaze on his face, a white chest and some white on his toes. Very flashy! He raced most recently at 77lbs but was 73-74 in most of his races. Java turned 2 on February 14th so is a Valentines Day pup! He passed his cat and small dog tests so should be OK in a home with either. So far he has complained a bit about being in his kennel so may not be the best dog for apartment living. She turned two on February 11th so is a pretty young girl. She raced at 60lbs. Her sire is the very famous Kiowa Mon Manny and her dam is My Aunt Matilda. She passed her cat test and small dog test so should be fine to live with either. Meridith is a happy, friendly, girl that is a beautiful light fawn with brindle striping. She can be a little timid at first with men and can be a bit timid when out in new places, but that is likely to get better as she is exposed to more new things. She has gotten along fine with the other dog at her foster home. Meredith probably does need a fenced yard to potty in because she just walks on walks and doesn't stop to go potty even if another dog does.

Harvest is a young female that was co-owned by a couple of our volunteers during her racing career. They both have kept several of their racers already as pets so are letting us place Harvest in an adoptive home. She is very young and won't turn 2 until September 17th. She didn't do well in race training and just wasn't that interested in chasing the lure so was retired without a single official race. Her sire is the famous Flying Hydrogen and her dam is Many Moons. Her mom Many Moons is also available on our website! When Harvest first arrived she was timid but within a day or two was happy, bouncy and friendly. Just like her mom, she will talk to you with happy roos and little barks if you talk to her first. She is a very cute little girl that gets along well with all the other dogs in her foster home and hasn't had one accident. Be sure to check out her other photos to see pictures of her as a young pup. Harvest does complain some about being in the crate so probably would not be a good choice for an apartment. She has been good with the cats in her foster home. Harvest was just moved into a new foster home in Columbia and she wasn't shy with her like she was when we first got her. She was talking to her and playbowing the very first day.

Gipper retired from the Orlando Track in April of this year. He had been waiting for in the track adoption kennel since then. He is a gorgeous white boy with a few bright red brindle spots. He is higher energy for a greyhound and is bouncy and happy. Gipper only raced 18 races at Orlando and at Dubuque in IA. He only won 2 of those. Gipper raced at 72lbs so is a mid sized guy that won't turn 3 until October 21st. His sire is Djays Octane and his dam is Antsie Nancy. Gipper was a favorite in his racing kennel and his trainer called him her "kennel boyfriend" because he was so devoted to her and wanted to be with her. He would be a great hiking or jogging partner since he isn't the typical greyhound couch potato. He might be a good obedience or agility dog for the same reason. He is very outgoing and confident. He was a bit bossy with some of the other dogs in the adoption kennel so would need to be placed with just the right dog or with no other dogs. Gipper's foster family is working on teaching him to walk nicely on leash and not to jump on people. He just gets so excited to see new friends and wants to check out everything around him. Because Gipper is bouncy and jumps on people we have him listed as no small kids. He has liked the kids he has met but would be likely to knock a small toddler down with his enthusiastic greetings. Gipper just needs plenty of exercise and some training to tone down his excitement a bit. Gipper does bark sometimes when he gets excited so would not be a good apartment dog. He did pass his cat and small dog test and was afraid of the cat after he got smacked by the cat one time. If you want a goofy, happy, boy with a lot of personality this boy is the one!

Jasper is a mid-sized black male that raced at 75lbs. His sire is Yahoo Omar and his dam is BF Pina. He is very friendly and sweet and wonderful with kids of all ages. One of those dogs that loves attention and will follow you around. For Millsap, there is no such thing as too much attention. He loves everyone and makes sure they know it. He is a big traveler starting out his race career in Abilene then moving to Bluffs Run and Dubuque in IA. From there he moved to Florida where he raced at Sarasota, Naples-Ft Myers and Sanford Orlando where he finally retired from. He raced 125 races including A level races and even Stakes races, so he was a good racer. He will turn 6 on Dec 27th. Jasper was returned to us from his first home in October of 2014. He lived with lots of kids in a big active family and was very good with them. His actual owner was an 18-year-old girl that did a lot of training with him. Jasper knows many obedience commands sit, stay, down and come and loves to play fetch and can find a treat on command. He was returned the first time because of a family thing and not because of anything he did. He was adopted again in October of 2014 and his name was changed to Jack. This time he lived in a very quiet home and did fine there too.  He is being returned because his owner had an injury and is having difficulty physically and financially taking care of him. If you want a dog that comes pre-trained and has wonderful manners and will be good in a large family with kids and other pets this is your boy!

Adoption Status: Adopted by the Link/ Thurmes Family of Clemson SC 8/15/15

Tart had a short race career of only 24 races at Derby Lane and only won one race. Even though she wasn't a great racer, she and most of the girls in her litter, were sent back to the farm to become moms. Tart had 2 litters and a total of 12 pups registered so far and is now on to her 3rd career as a pet. One of her daughters is actually available for adoption through us right now - Red Harvest Moon. Tart's sire is WW Apple Jax and her dam is Sunsand Fran. She raced at 59lbs and just turned 9 on July 22nd. Tart is a shy girl and doesn't really seek out affection yet. If you talk to her she will roo and talk back to you though. She is VERY good in the house, no accidents and gets along with everyone. She does like her crate but doesn't need the crate because she gets along so well with everyone and is so well behaved. Tart is good with small dogs and is fine with the kids she has met. She loves to go for rides in the car. Because she is a senior Tart qualifies for our reduced adoption fee of $200. Tart did pass her cat test with barely a sniff and is being fostered with small dogs. Families meeting Tart should understand that she will be timid and won't interact much because she is shy at first and will need plenty of time to get used to new people. She may always be happiest in the background and seems to be more of a wallflower type.

She didn't do well in training so was retired. Valerie is very young that turned 2 on August 8th. She still has a thick fuzzy puppy coat which gives her a very cute puppy look.  Her sire is Dragon Fire and her dam is Astarroyalnsassy. She is a friendly girl that rode calmly on the trip up from Florida and seemed very well behaved. So far in her foster home Valerie has spent a lot of time watching TV and seem fascinated with it. She is calm and gentle with their children. Valerie loves to be close to her people and follows her foster family from room to room. She does fuss a little about being in her crate so may not be an apartment dog.  More as we get to know this sweet little girl. Adoption Status: Adopted to the McMahan family of Greenville 8/13/15

Fargo is a very tall, gorgeous guy with a beautiful, shiny, dark brindle coat. He is an extra large guy, one of the tallest we have seen. Because he has a more tall and narrow build, he probably weighs somewhere in the upper 80s instead of in the 90s like a stockier boy his size would. Fargo is not tattooed and never raced we think he may be an AKC bred greyhound rather than a racing bred greyhound. He was acquired by his first owner as a puppy. He has lived in a home as a pet all his life. His first owner had a serious health condition that prevented him from caring for his dogs anymore and relinquished Fargo in 2012. He was quickly re-adopted but now it has happened again. His current owner also has some serious health problems that is forcing her to return her 3 greyhounds to us Fargo, Lucy and Angel. She loves these dogs very much, but just can no longer care for them due to her rapidly declining health.

Fargo is very outgoing and loves everyone he meets. He will give free kisses to everyone. He loves to snuggle and will quickly make himself at home beside you on a bed or couch and is likely to try to get in your lap. Don't plan on napping alone if Fargo is around. He is a happy, silly guy with ton of personality and no one would ever guess that he is an older guy if he didn't have a little gray on his face. He likes to play and run. He is a guy that will be up for any type of activity because he still has quite a bit of energy. He is the typical couch potato though, going for short bursts, then sleeping for hours. Fargo is very smart and curious and opened a crate door, walked inside picked up a dog bowl and carried it out of the crate to hopefully have it filled the first morning in his foster home. He is a fun, entertaining guy that makes his foster home laugh. He seems to adjust well to anything and has shown no anxiety after being moved into foster care. He is just so happy and loves everyone and everything so we think he would make a fantastic therapy dog or meet and greet dog. He will certainly get a lot of attention being the biggest dog in the room and the one with the sweetest, most outgoing personality. Fargo is wonderful with kids. The only flaw we have found with him is that he is afraid of thunderstorms and fireworks. He crates well but isn't always perfectly quiet so may not be an apartment dog.

Fargo was seen by our vet and had a dental and has a clean bill of health and is ready to go home. Fargo passed his cat and small dog tests so should be able to live with either. He lived in a home with a number of other dogs of different breeds both males and females so should be very good with other dogs. This is a super sweet guy!!

Because Fargo is a senior, he qualifies for our reduced senior adoption fee of $200.

Cisco came from the Birmingham Race Track adoption kennel. He raced only 2 schooling races at Tri State in WV in December of 2012, then was moved to Birmingham AL. No official races on him that we could find at that track. Cisco was adopted out from the adoption kennel there and had been in an adoptive home for a little while. He was returned to the adoption kennel in Birmingham because he was "afraid of the dark". They ended up sending him to our group and we figured out that it wasn't really fear of the dark, it is just that he doesn't want to go outside unless another dog is with him, day or night. In spite of not wanting to go outside to potty he would hold it forever in the house and rarely had an accident. Cisco is a very good boy that tries hard to please. He has done great with other dogs around and regularily goes for walks even in the dark as long as another dog is there for company. Cisco's sire is Afleet Alex and his dam is Kelsos Corkhill. He turned 4 on November 12th. So far Cisco has been a very calm, friendly guy that likes everyone and is a super sweet guy. His foster homes have been tempted to keep him because he is so easy to fall in love with. Cisco passed his small dog tests but needs a home without cats. He is a very quiet boy in his kennel so may be a good choice for apartment or townhouse living. He just needs to be in a home with at least one other dog to help his confidence. Cisco is home acclimated, very loving and super cute! He would be an easy first or 5th greyhound.

He tried to climb in his foster mom's lap when she was sitting on the couch - good thing he is a small boy! Like most greyhounds can be a bit dramatic if he thinks it will help him get out of doing something he doesn't want to do. He is mostly quiet in his crate but he has started complaining a bit about being in the crate sometimes so may not be a good choice for an apartment. Biscuit passed his cat and small dog test so should be able to live with either. This is a goofy boy that will keep life interesting. His trainer had 3 boys that were at his racing kennel a lot so he is used to being around kids. Cute cute boy! He is a very loving guy! Biscuit may need a home where he can be with another large dog or greyhound because he has seemed stressed when by himself.

Banjo is a handsome stocky boy that raced at 73lbs. He just retired from the Daytona Race Track after 91 races. Banjo is an active, bouncy, outgoing boy that would be perfect for an active family that likes to go and do things with their dogs. He is very friendly and has never met a stranger according to his trainer and is very goofy and silly. Banjo's sire is the very famous Kiowa Sweet Trey and his dam is Trophy Collector. Banjo has been around his trainers kids and loves kids but because he is so active and bouncy we think he would do better in a home without tiny kids that could be easily knocked down by a big excited dog. Banjo did easily pass his cat and small dog tests so should be able to live in a home with either.

Mercedes is a pretty black female with a white chest. She is very alert and curious with ears that stand straight up when she is checking something out. She is small and raced at 58lbs. Her sire is Rhythmless and her dam is Djays Just Playn. She is 3 years old and will turn 4 on September 5th. Mercedes raced 111 races and did get up to the top A level briefly. She retired from Sanford Orlando but also raced at Daytona Beach and Palm Beach in Florida and at Bluffs Rn in IA. Mercedes is a sweet, friendly girl that approaches everyone for affection. She seems confident and very happy. Mercedes passed her cat test and small dog tests and has been living with cats in her home. She travels well and is already home acclimated. She is being returned because one of the cats in her home didn't like her. Mercedes was fine with the cat, the cat just was stressed by having a dog in the house and hadn't gotten over it in 3 months she had lived there. Mercedes walks nicely on leash and is used to going for long walks and loves them.

Hunter just arrived from a greyhound farm. She never raced. Her sire is Flying Coal City and her dam is Cbar Bigspender. She is a young girl that will turn 2 on June 26th. She did pass her cat test with a little interest in them until she sniffed them and figured out what they were. She responds very well to the smallest correction so should do fine with cats with a little supervision at first. She is being fostered with a small dog and is very good with him. Hunter can be a little jumpy and timid in new situations but loves people and really loves to snuggle with people. She is such a sweet loving dog, but loud voices or quick movements can make her skitter away temporarily. She will come back though. She is very quiet in her kennel so may do well in a townhouse or apartment. Hunter potties really well outside as soon as you put her out. She does tend to freeze up a bit on leash when confronted with something new and scary so needs a little work on that. Hunter is a very sweet, timid young girl that hasn't seen much of the world yet and needs some exposure to new things. She is so beautiful with all that eyeliner.

Hal is a red fawn male pup that is very happy, goofy and friendly and because he is so young he is a higher energy guy. He has a great personality and has been described as "personality plus". He is still very young and just turned 1 in October. Hal never was officially registered to race due to an injury he got on the farm playing with his littermates. He ran into something and did nerve damage to his shoulder that caused the muscle to atrophy. It is an older injury that is long healed and just makes his shoulder look less muscled on one side than the other. He fell down some stairs in his first home and broke a different leg which was surgically repaired and totally healed now. Pups are clumsy and pups that can run 40 mph can injure themselves when playing. In spite of his previous injuries Hal is strong and loves to play and go for walks. He is fine to run around and play with other dogs and would love to have a home with a big fenced yard that he can run around in. Hal's sire is RA Blazer and his dam is WW's Kunina. Hal did pass his cat test and small dog test. We love his beautiful eyes that match his coat. He is settling into foster care very well and doing well with the cats and even the chickens at his foster home. He does try to play with cats and is a little big for that. He would do better in a home with medium sized or large dogs to play with. He is a smart boy and can learn that he is too big to play with the cats or tiny dogs especially if he has larger dogs to play with instead. Hal should do well in just about any home and will be a very loving devoted guy that will make his family laugh on a daily basis. Hal loves to chase a ball and will bring it back most of the time. Hal can be vocal in his kennel so probably would not be a good apartment dog. He loves kids.

Kap came to us from the Daytona Race track because her kennel closed. She hasn't been there long and never had a single official race. She is a very young girl that won't turn 2 until December 11th. She is a smaller girl that is 58lbs. Her sire is Gable Sour Cream and her dam is WW Key Kap Rosy. Kappy is very friendly and waggy with a tail that curls up over her back more like a husky than a greyhound. It is very very cute and makes her a one of a kind. She did complain some at first in her foster home so may be too loud to be an apartment dog. Kap passed her cat and small dog tests with flying colors and is being fostered with a very small dog. Her trainer brought her 3 boys to work in the kennel with her so she is used to being around kids. Kap is doing great in her foster home and is something of a comedienne, she will play and lay in such funny positions and makes her family laugh.

Betty just arrived from the Daytona Beach Race Track where she raced 57 races. Her kennel just closed and we are helping move the dogs into adoption groups. Betty is a small girl that raced at 56lbs and she will turn 3 on Nov 7th. She has the cutest ears that stand straight up sometimes. Her sire is the famous Kiowa Mon Manny and her dam is Sobe Queens Row. Betty has a wonderful personality and is very outgoing and loves attention. She gives plenty of kisses in return. Betty loves squeaky toys, and goes up and down stairs already like a champ. She goes to her crate on her own at night to go to sleep and is starting to learn how to ring bells on the door when she needs to go outside. She was interested in the cats at first in her foster home, but now sleeps in bed with the cats and is very good with them. She can be a little loud in her crate sometimes so may not be a good apartment dog. Her trainer took her kids to work with her in the kennel so she is used to being around children. Her foster home loves her and says her personality is A+++

Mandate just arrived from the adoption kennel at the Sanford Orlando race track. He has been there since he retired in March waiting on an adoption group or adopter to pick him. Because he is a big black male, he was overlooked. He raced at Southland in Arkansas and Derby Lane in Fl too. He raced 51 races but didn't win many. Mandate is a shiny, black boy that is very tall. He only raced at 76lbs but towers over most other greyhounds because of the length of his legs. He is just stunning with a personality to match. He was an adoption kennel favorite because of his great personality - friendly and fun- without being hyper or obnoxious. He is a silly boy that loves people. He doesn't seem to have any problem sharing space with other dogs and humans. The other dogs on the haul didn't want him to lay down close to them so he stood most of the way to avoid trouble. When he finally found a spot to lay down he never fussed at any of the other dogs for stepping on him or bothering him. His sire is the very famous Kiowa Mon Manny and his dam is Soda Sipper. Mandate passed his cat and small dog test easily and didn't seem to be interested in chasing either. He responded well to the baby in his foster home too. So far he has been very quiet in his kennel so might be a good apartment dog. This is a drop dead gorgeous guy with a personality to match! More as we get to know him.

Money is a 62lb female that raced only 19 races in Sarasota and Birmingham. Although she was fast, she interfered with the other dogs when they were racing, intentionally bumping them or playing with them. That isn't allowed, so Money was forced into retirement and not allowed to race anymore in July of 2013. She was sent back to the farm then to be a mom. She was blind in one eye already because of an injury but her owners noticed that her good eye was becoming cloudy too. She was diagnosed with Pannus which can cause blindness if not treated with drops. So she was retired from her mom duties and came in as a special order for a family that owns her littermate in Atlanta. Money will need drops the rest of her life to keep from going completely blind. She is a very calm, sweet friendly girl that doesn't mind having the ointment put in her eye. Money's sire is BD's Herby and her dam is WW Gale Finance. Money turns 4 on September 7th.

She did not pass her cat test at the track and seems too interested in very small dogs that look like bunnies to be able to live with them. Sweet Tea is settling in well in her foster home. She is very friendy and affectionate and loves people. She likes to play with toys and will even fetch the toys. At first she was uncomfortable being around very young kids that approached her but has done much better with exposure to more kids and is fine now.
