Prudent just arrived from the Lester Raines Kennel at the Palm Beach Race Track. She also raced at Wheeling Downs in WV. She raced 150 races and got up to B Level. Prudent is a mostly white female with some brindle spots that raced at 64lbs. She will turn 4 on Christmas Day. Her sire is the famous Kiowa Myth and her dam is Flying Sage. She was too interested in cats at first meeting at the track so they didn't think she would be OK with them. When we introduced her to our cat she remembered cats had claws and wouldn't get near it after the first time the cat swatted her. She only wanted to get out of the room and away from that scary cat. Since she did great in our cat test, but was interested at her first meeting, we listed her as trainable with cats. Prudent also did OK with the small dog she met. She has a wonderful, very outgoing personality. Very friendly and loving and will give you lots of kisses. She was loud in her crate at first but did quiet down except to let you know when she needs to go outside. She may not be quiet enough to be an apartment dog though. Prudent is a happy, bouncy girl that is energetic and fun.

Adoption Status: Adopted by the Fox family of Aiken SC 10/20/18

Boomer is a brindle boy that raced at 72lbs. His sire is TNT Star Wars and his dam is Speedy Petal. He only raced 18 races at Southland in Arkansas and broke his hock October 3 of 2013, back when he was only 2. The break was splinted there by a vet and he was sent to us for rehab. Our vets also checked his leg and agreed that he would heal up fine in a splint and the break wouldn't require surgery. Boomer's break healed up nicely and he was adopted in December of 2013. He was returned to us for rehoming in 2017 because of financial problems, that made a move in with relatives necessary. Boomer was adopted quickly then and has been in a home for over a year. Boomer has just been returned again because his mom's health is failing. She is no longer able to care for him. This sweet boy has just had some bad luck over the years. Boomer likes to go on short walks and is great on leash. He can run around and do whatever he feels like doing, but probably wouldn't enjoy long hikes or jogs due to the old injury. He does favor the leg sometimes. Boomer turned 7 on August 11th. He is a sweet, very calm boy that is very good and already home acclimated. He is a little timid at first and a bit overwhelmed but warms up. He is very lazy and is happy to just have a soft dog bed to lay on. He isn't a dog that follows you or bothers you for attention. Boomer potties nicely on leash so may not need a fenced yard. He is a gorgeous, brindle boy with the prettiest eyes. Boomer has lived with cats and small dogs in his first home. When Boomer was first with us he loved his crate and was very quiet in it while he was on crate rest for the broken leg. He was so quiet in his crate we felt he may be a great apartment dog. He would probably not be able to do a lot of stairs due to his old injury and would at least need an apartment on the ground floor. He would be perfect for someone that didn't have much time or energy for walking and exercising dogs. His former owner says he loves kids and she is hoping that he gets a home with a child. The pictures are from when he first arrived and was younger.

Parker just arrived from the Birmingham Race Track. He raced all of his 99 races there and was a good racer. He mainly raced at the top A level and won quite a few races. Parker raced at 68lbs so is a smaller guy. He just turned 3 on September 22nd. Parker's sire is the famous KC and All and his dam is WW's Rock Star. Parker is a very calm, easy going guy. Although he resists going in his kennel at first, once he is in there he crates quietly and is being fostered in a townhouse. Parker is excellent on leash. He gets along great with the other greyhounds in his foster home, male and female. He passed his cat and small dog tests easily so should be fine to live with either. He also travels really well. We were told that Parker was a little shy when he first arrived at the track but he warmed up to his trainers within 2 weeks and followed them around and was their best friend once he warmed up. He has been a little jumpy with his foster mom if she moves fast or is loud, but he comes when called and will take food out of your hand with no problem, so isn't too shy. Parker seems like a very sweet guy that would be an easy first or fourth greyhound and he is so handsome. Those eyes just draw you in!!

Good w/ Children:

Fostered by (location):

Adoption Status: Adopted by the Martin Family of Greenville SC 10/19/18

Ally just arrived from a dog farm in Arkansas. She raced 70 races mostly at Wheeling Downs in WV and was very good getting up to the top AA levels at one of the toughest tracks. She also raced briefly at Southland. After she retired in January of 2018, she went back to the farm to be a mom. She had just one puppy a few weeks ago. It was too big and she had trouble having it. The puppy didn't make it and her owners decided to just retire her instead of having more litters. Ally will turn 4 on January 6th. Her sire is the famous Flying Penske and her dam is Cidina. She raced at 65lbs. She is pretty good on leash and potties on leash so may do fine with potty walks instead of having a fenced yard. Ally travels really well and just gets in the car and lays down. She is calm in her crate. She can be just a little timid when she first meets you but did great at a busy shopping area and was very happy to let people come up and pet her. She just didn't go up to the people asking to be petted. She does like kids and gets more excited to see them than adults. She is a grinner that smiles when excited. She warms up very fast and was very happy to see us and waggy after just one day. She has a fantastic calm personality. Ally was interested in the first cat she met, but after that was fine with the other cats she met and not interested in them at all. She even walked nicely past several ducks. Ally has the glossiest, gorgeous, black coat. She had an injury to her tail when she was young so now has a cute little nub that is only about 3 inches long. She thinks it makes her even cuter and she doesn't have to worry about it getting shut in a door or gate like other greyhounds.

Sammy just arrived from the Birmingham Race Track. She was a fantastic racer that raced at 68lbs! She came in 2nd in the 2015 Orange Park Bestbet Juvenile Stakes Race. She placed 3rd in the 2016 Orange Park Patton Silver Cup and was a finalist in the 2016 Orange Park Bestbet Sprint Classic. Those races are reserved for the best racers at the track. Sammy raced 222 races, and almost always raced at the very top A level races against the other top dogs. She won a lot of her races!! Sammy is a very friendly, happy girl with a great personality and loves everyone she meets. Even though she will turn 5 on November 14th she is still bouncy and waggy. In all her pictures her tail was always a blur because she was wagging it the whole time. Sammy's sire is the famous Bella Infrared and her dam is WW Kay Sun. Sammy did not pass her cat test so needs a home without them. She was fine with a 15lb Italian Greyhound she met. She does seem to need careful introductions to small to medium fuzzier dogs though. She tends to mistake fuzzy things for bunnies until she sniffs them and figures out what they are. Sammy travels well. She can be a little loud in her kennel at first so probably would not be a good apartment dog. More as we get to know her.

The adoption group there just gets retired greyhounds from other tracks to transport to vet and distribute to other adoption groups. Throttle actually raced at Daytona Beach, Melbourne, Palm Beach and Orange Park in Florida. He raced 62 races and only won 3 of those. Throttle was moved around in hopes he would find a track he where he would be competitive, but finally was retired. He is a mostly white boy with a few brindle spots and one ear that flips over sometimes. He raced at 71lbs.Throttle turned 3 on March 7th. He is friendly and waggy. He loves to give kisses and seems to be really fond of children. He is very quiet in his kennel so may be a good apartment dog. He also potties nicely on leash so may do fine without a fenced yard being leash walked. Throttle travels well and is really sweet. Levi came in from the Ebro Race Track. He also raced at Sarasota, Sanford Orlando, Flagler and Naples Ft Myers. Levi wasn't a very good racer and was moved from track to track in hopes he would find a track that he could be competitive at. He ended up winning only 4 of his 48 races so eventually was retired. Levi raced at 73lbs and his sire is P's Gibbs and dam is Gable Charolais. He turned 3 on March 7th. Levi liked the kids in his foster home and was very good with them but growled a few times at a 10 year old girl in an adoptive home after being OK for about a month, so we would prefer to place him in a home with no kids. Levi passed his small dog test easily so could live with them, but has had mixed results with cats and has been too interested in some cats he has met but OK with others. He probably should have a home without cats, just to be safe.  Levi is a friendly, social, happy guy that loves being with his people. He follows his foster parents around and loved going to the Farmers Market and getting attention from all the people there.

Fostered by (location):

Adoption Status: Adopted to the Cozier Family of Greenville SC 10/2/18

Bianca is a young, beautiful, red, girl that turned 2 on February 2nd. She raced at 68lbs. Bianca started out her career at Southland in Arkansas but wasn't fast enough for that really tough track, so she was moved to D'Arcy Kennels at Derby Lane in Florida. She did much better at that track and was winning, but she hurt her leg in her 12th race (on May 2nd), so was retired. She was sent to a farm in Florida to rehab her leg then and has been there for the last 5 months. Now her leg is healed up and she is ready to start her second career as a pet. She is going to make a great pet! She is fun, energetic and has a lot of personality. She is very happy and loving with a tail that wags most of the time. She is settling in very quickly and was already relaxing by laying at her foster mom's feet after the first day. Although she is happy and bouncy at first, she does settle well and sleeps a lot of the day like a typical greyhound. She can be a little whiny in her kennel so may not be quiet enough to be an apartment dog. Bianca did not pass her cat test and was way too interested in chasing the cat so needs a home without kitties. She was fine with the small white dog she met, but needed to sniff it and realize it was a dog. She is a smart girl that is so gorgeous! She LOVES children. We have her listed as older children only just because she was so excited to play with the toddlers she met that she was bouncing and bumping into them. She would be great in a home that had slightly older kids that were big enough that she could play with them without knocking them down. She is just a strong girl that gets excited at first when meeting people and kids. Her sire is the famous Bella Infrared and her dam is Saluted.

Ella just arrived from Figuroa Kennel at the Sanford Orlando Race Track. She was owned by Lisa Wheeler. Ella raced 46 races at Derby Lane, Palm Beach and Sanford Orlando Race Tracks in Florida. She raced mainly at the lower levels and only won a few races so she was retired pretty young. Her sire is Surf Lorian and her dam is Monoco Gold. Ella is a cute 67lb brindle female that just turned 3 on September 9th. She is very friendly and happy and seems to like kids and everyone else she has met. She loves her food and is a very good eater. Very good on leash and very affectionate. Ella loves squeaky toys and likes to play. She is a bit higher energy than the average greyhound so will be a lot of fun and won't be a total couch potato. She was much too interested in cats to pass her cat test - we tested her twice to be sure. She did fine with a small white dog after she sniffed and realized it was just a dog and not the bunny it looked like. She is very social and very sweet. She is doing great in her foster home. She was a little loud in her crate at first but is getting better. She is probably not going to be a good apartment dog though.

Nickle just arrived from the Lester Raines Kennel at Palm Beach. She raced most of her 114 races at Tri-State in West Virginia though. She was a very good racer, racing at the top AA level at Tri-State. She is a very unusual black brindle girl that at first glance looks completely black. If you look close you can see faint orange stripes barely visible in her fur though. Nickle raced at 64lbs. She will turn 4 on November 23rd. Her sire is the famous Defrim Bale from Australia and her dam is Big Ego. Nickle passed her cat test easily without much interest. She also passed her small dog test easily so should be able to live with either. She is a bit overwhelmed by all the changes in her life but is calmly friendly and will stand next to you to be petted and will look up into your eyes with the sweetest expression on her face. She was a little whiny in her crate but did quiet down eventually. She may not be quiet enough to be an apartment dog though. She seems like a very calm girl. She is pretty good on leash too. Nickle has a broken rib on one side, what they call the floating rib, that is the last one before her waist. It is a very old injury from when she was a tiny pup. It can happen if a pup is stepped on by the mother or during the birthing process. It does make a noticeable bump on one side. Our vet didn't believe it needed to be removed since it is such an old injury and is not causing her any pain.

PJ Bad Boy is definitely not the right name for this very sweet, good boy, but he was actually called Moses at the track. Moses came in from the Sanford Orlando Race Track. He also raced at Mardi Gras and Palm Beach. He is a smaller male that raced at just 68lbs. Moses had a pretty long career of 108 races and retired on June 22nd 2018. Moses did get up to the top A level at that track. His sire is the famous DJays Octane and his dam is Ucme Mini Me. Moses will turn 4 on October 5th. He is very a friendly, happy guy and his foster mom says he is a wonderful guy that is an easy foster. He is living in a foster home with kids and loves being around them. He is also living with cats in his foster home and is fine with them. The only reason he is listed as trainable is because he was more interested in a hairless cat he met but of course he didn't have any way to know that was even a cat.  Moses loves toys and is playful. He travels well. He is very well behaved and has good house manners. At night he sleeps next to his foster mom on a dog bed. He also crates well.

Sweet Senior! Witty is a girl that was originally placed by another group up North, NGAP, years ago. Her owner moved to NC and was only able to keep two of her dogs where she moved and had to re-home Witty. She said that Witty is a goofy, playful girl that is really sweet. Witty retired from the Daytona Beach Race Track in January of 2012. She raced 55 races there and only won 2 of those. She did place some, even if she didn't win, so was able to keep racing for a little while. Witty is an adorable black female that is starting to get white in circles around her eyes giving her a very cute goggle look. Witty raced at 65lbs and turned 9 on April 16th. Since she is an older girl she qualifies for our reduced adoption donation of $250. Her sire is Tempo Petrocelli and her dam is LookButDontTouch. Witty was already spayed, but she just got a fresh dental, blood work, heart worm test and anything else she needs and has a clean bill of health. Witty injured her tail at some point previously and had to have it removed so she has a cute little nub now. WItty is a sweet girl that is friendly and silly. She is getting along well with the other dogs in her foster home. She is good with small dogs as well and passed her cat test without much interest so should be fine to live in a home with either.

Adoption Status: Adopted by the Rementer Family of Murrells Inlet 9/22/18

Lip just arrived from Bolton Kennel at the Sanford Orlando Race track. He is a gorgeous, rare, all white, male with only some tiny speckles on his ears and no actual spots. He raced 148 races. Lip was a pretty good racer and got up to the top A level briefly a couple of times during his career. He was mainly competitive at the lower levels. Lipp raced at 73lbs. His sire is Hi Noon Hero and his dam is Atascocita Dory. LIpp passed his cat test without much more than an ear prick in the cat's direction so should be OK to live with cats. He is also good with small dogs. He loves having other dogs around and they seem to help his confidence, so we would love to find a home for him with another dog. Lip can be a little timid at first in new situations. He seems like he is a sweet, sensitive guy that startles easily. A small child threw a toy for another dog and it scared him. Lipp wouldn't come out of his crate if any of the small kids were around for a couple of days after that. His foster dad came home late and night and surprised him. Lipp didn't want him to come near him for a couple days after that. Lipp loves his foster mom and likes to stay close to her. He did gradually warm back up to the small kids and would cautiously approach them for petting but we think he would be more comfortable living in a quiet home without small rowdy kids. Lip is being fostered now with teenagers and he absolutely loves them. So a home with older kids would be fine for him. Lipp seems like he would be a good watch dog because he will bark an alarm if something startles him. For that reason he wouldn't be the best dog for an apartment or townhouse. Lip is a sweet, sensitive guy that is very affectionate and loving especially with females and older teenage kids. He can be a little more cautious with men but will warm up with a little time.

He traveled well on the trip up from Florida and seems to like to ride in cars. Sarge is very curious and spent a lot of time checking out everything in the house. He gets along very well with other dogs and plays nicely. Sarge wasn't fazed by the hardwood floors or the roomba. He crates well and was OK being crated in a room by himself. Snoopy was also called Stubby at the track because he has a short tail that is only about 6 inches long. Snoopy is a cute, tiny, boy that is white with brindle spots. He only weighs 64lbs. Snoopy came in with his two brothers Rex Birkhead (Sparky) and Adam Schefter (Sarge) from the Ebro race track. Snoopy and Sparky look like identical twins (except for the tail) but Sarge is a brindle boy. Snoopy raced 16 races and didn't win one of them so was retired young. He won't turn 2 until October 20th. Snoopy's sire is the famous Lonesome Cry and his dam is SJ's FlyingPenny. Snoopy is a friendly boy that is cute and very sweet. He did great with a small dog he met and tried to get him to play with him. He also passed his cat test without any interest. He seems like a sensitive guy that worries sometimes. His main worry is about his footing. He doesn't like to walk on odd surfaces indoors and just freezes until he gets his courage up to take a few steps. It doesn't matter if the floors are shiny, slippery or not. Outside he will walk on the same tile and wood without worrying about it and did the 4 steps to get outside with no trouble at all. He is a very silly pup that still has a lot to learn. Snoopy travels really well and loves to go for rides. He is a very good singer and does a soft quiet roo that sounds like a wolf howl but he does it very softly so it can barely be heard in the next room. More as we get to know him.

Buckwheat came to us from Jimmy King at the Naples Ft Myers Race Track. He raced 66 races and also raced at Flagler. Buckwheat only won 5 of his races but placed a lot. He is a 71lb black male that will turn 4 on August 19th. His sire is the very famous DJays Octane and his dam is Too Cool Cathi. According to his trainer, Buckwheat can be a little timid at first in new situations but once he gets to know you, he will be your best friend. Buckwheat is such a good boy! He is quiet in his crate while his foster family is at work. He lays right down on his bed at night and sleeps through the night. He plays well with the other greyhounds in his foster home. He is happy and his tail wags all the time. He was a little curious about the cat at first but after she swatted him once he is more cautious around her. He tries to get her to play but is polite when she says no. Buckwheat has the sweetest personality and is so shiny and beautiful. He already knows how to fetch a ball too! He also passed his cat and small dog tests so could live with either. He seems to like kids too. This is an all around great guy.

Adoption Status: Adopted by the Florence Family of Washington GA 8/29/18

Frilly just arrived from the Bolton Kennel at the Sanford Orlando Race track. She only ran 8 races and was doing great winning half of those. She had an ankle injury in January and they rehabbed her in hopes she could go back to racing. She healed up very well but never got back to her former speed and had some ankle soreness after practice races, so was just retired officially. She is fine to run and play as a pet and you can't even see where she was injured but she wouldn't be one that is likely to be able to do competitive sports like Agility or Lure Coursing because of the old injury. Frilly just turned 2 on June 10th so is a young girl. Her sire is Golden Squire and her dam is Fancy N Frilly. She raced at 62lbs. Frilly passed her cat and small dog tests so should be fine to live with either. She was a little worried and stressed on the long trip up from Florida but did better on her one hour trip to the vet. She can be just a little bit timid with new people and is pretty submissive getting low to the ground sometimes. She warms up fast though and is an awesome little girl and such a gorgeous red brindle color. She seemed to like the kids she met.

Nelly is an extra large guy that raced at 83lbs. His full racing name is Nelly, one of the shorter registered names we have seen. He retired from Bolton Kennel at the Sanford Orlando Race Track. He was a fast boy and also raced at the top track in the country, Southland in Arkansas. He raced 133 races total. Nelly just turned 4 on April 23rd. His sire is the famous KC and All and his dam is Taurasi. Nelly is a big, tall, calm, guy that got along very well with the other dogs at the race track, males and females. He settled into home life as soon as he got to his foster home. He found the bed and laid right down and went to sleep. He wasn't worried about the wood floors or the steps and seems like he would just settle easily into any situation. He loves snuggles and toys.Nelly was much too focused on cats he met to be able to live with them . He has been living in a foster home with a small white dog though and is very good with him. Nelly has liked the small kids he met. He did make a little noise in his kennel at first but is very quiet in his crate now so he may do OK in a townhouse or apartment. Nelly is a happy friendly guy that gets along well with others and also seems to do well when he is by himself so may do well as an only dog too. He is so handsome, sweet and calm! Just a gentle giant.

Fostered by (location):

Adoption Status: Adopted by the Cairns Family of Elgin SC 8/22/18

Gardenia arrived with her sister Blast. She retired from the Wheeling Race Track back in January of 2015 after she was run into by another dog in a race and broke her hock. She went back to the farm for rehab and she has just been hanging out there as a pet for the last 3 years. Gardenia also raced at Tri State in WV. She has 57 races listed and got up to the top AA level at Tri State. She also ran in one stakes race so she was a good racer that would have had a much longer career if she hadn't had the injury. She is a cute brindle girl that has a pure white face and white on her legs and throughout her brindle fur giving her the prettiest look. She won't turn 8 until December 13th so has gone prematurely white. She is starting to look more like a blue brindle with all the gray. She raced at 60lbs. Gardenia's sire is BD's Grayson and her dam is AMF Bone Bruise. Gardenia passed the cat test with just some curious sniffing at first, when the cat slapped toward her she jumped back and didn't want to get close to the cat again. The cat didn't actually even slap her. She has been fine with the small dog in her foster home too. She was a little nervous around small kids and chose not to interact with them most of the time. Gardenia is pretty friendly but is a little less confident at first than her vivacious sister Blast and seems to be a little more cautious of trying new things like steps at first. She has not tried to hug anyone so far like her sister does. She seems pretty laid back, well behaved and good on leash. Her leg has been healed for 3 years now and she is fine to run and play on it and it doesn't slow her down.

Kandy just arrived from the Bolton Kennel at the Sanford Orlando Race Track. She raced 85 races at the Orlando track and won at the top A level, so was one of the best racers at that track. Kandy is a 66lb dark brindle female. She turned 3 on February 18th. Her sire is Flying Coal City and her dam is Kandy Bale. She is a friendly happy girl that does a greyhound grin when she is happy. Very cute girl. Kandy was only a little interested in the cat when she first met it and quickly lost interest so we think she would be trainable with some supervision. She was fine with the small dog she met and seemed to like kids.

Adoption Status: Adopted to the Martin Family of Greenville SC 8/16/18

Fernandos came in from the Brindle Kennel at the Palm Beach Race Track a little over a year ago. He also raced at Naples Ft Myers, Flagler and Mardi Gras. He raced 180 races at 75lbs. He was a pretty good racer and did get up to the top A level. His sire is the very famous Dodgem By Design and his dam is Auntie Anne. Fernandos turned 6 on May the 14th. He has the most beautiful, shiny, black coat and cute ears that stand straight up when he is curious about something. One of his littermates took a bite out of one of his ears when they were puppies, so he is missing the very tip of one ear. Fernandos passed his initial cat test easily with no interestHe was good with 6 of the 7 cats in his first home, but there was one that was scared of him that would run from him that he was not able to resist chasing so he would do fine in a home with a confident cat instead of a scaredy cat. Fernandos is one of the greyhound grinners that smiles when he is happy or excited. Fernandos is not the most confident boy, although he pretends to be. Although he is fine with small dogs and other breeds once he meets them in a home situation, he can be nervous of other breeds approaching on walks and sometimes barks protectively. We worked on that before his last placement at the beginning of December and had him doing so well we could take him out in busy area of downtown without a single bark. Fernandos is very friendly and is a leaner that leans in to give the famous greyhound hug. Fernandos is used to having his teeth brushed every day and likes it. He is very good and mostly quiet in his kennel. The only time he is loud is when he hears the siren of an emergency vehicle, then he sings along. He is a very good singer. When you first come home he will roo because he is so happy to see you. Fernandos walks great on leash. He is a very laid back, well behaved guy in the house and doesn't do much running or playing in the fenced yard, so doesn't require one. Fernandos has been in several adoptive homes already and was returned once because he wanted to chase one of the 7 cats he lived with. He was returned again because he did not do well in an urban apartment with all the other dogs around on walks. He was placed in a 3rd home in December and did fantastic there and they loved him. They ended up having to move in with relatives and couldn't take him with them, so he was returned again through no fault of his own. Fernandos was occasionally protective of his space when laying down or sleeping when he first arrived. He is doing fine with that in his foster home now. We still think he shouldn't be placed with little children that may not understand that dogs should be left alone when laying down or sleeping though. Fernandos is a really sweet, loving guy that has just had some bad luck.

Carla just arrived from Larson Kennel at the Sanford Orlando Race Track. She is a brindle female that raced at 63lbs. She only raced 19 races and never won one of those and only placed a few times. She was retired young and won't turn 2 until October 16th. Carla arrived with her littermate Hurricane Berry. Her sire is Barcelona Boss and her dam is Hurricane Riot. We placed her mom's mom Audacious. Carla travels well and is a natural sitter. Carla is a happy, friendly, waggy girl and so pretty! She was very interested in the cat until it slapped her, then she screamed and ran. She kept squealing for awhile and we checked her for a scratch, but found nothing. She wouldn't get near the cat again. When she had to walk past the cat to get out of the room she started screaming again even though the cat never touched her. She seems like she is very dramatic. We think she would be easily trainable by a cat that would slap her just once. She did fine with the small dog she was fostered with and was very friendly with children. She travels well too. Carla can be pushy about getting what she wants, but her dramatic side means that she corrects pretty easily. Carla is a natural sitter (it is not a comfortable position for most greyhounds) and is very good on leash.

Her sire is the famous DJays Octane and her dam is Alissa's Posa. Rosa was was quickly adopted by her foster family and has been in a home for a year and a half. She was just returned to us due to some very serious health issues that made it impossilble for her family to care for her. Rosa turned 3 on January 26th. She is good with kids and small dogs. She passed her initial cat test with only a little interest but wanted to chase cats in her foster home after she got more comfortable there so she needs a home with no cats.

Day came in from the Daytona Beach Race Track in Florida over a year ago. She is a very tiny, black, girl that only weighs 51lbs! She just turned 3 on December 11th. Her sire is Bonafide Top Dog and her dam is RC Mystic Nugget. She came in with her sister Night and Night has been adopted. Day won her very first race and raced 21 more races. She never won another race, so was retired young. She is a happy, friendly girl that is young and playful. Day was adopted in June of 2017 and is being returned due to a divorce. She has lived with an Italian Greyhound and with a child and is very good with both.  She is outgoing, gentle and affectionate. She does great on stairs and can get in and out of the car easily. She has not lived with cats but did pass her cat test with a little initial excitement, then quickly lost interest, so we think she may be trainable with them with close supervision at first. Day was also around the children of her racing trainer ages 5 to 12 before we got her. Day looks like she has been polished her coat is so shiny and her personality is just as shiny and bright. She was good on leash and quiet in her crate when placed initially. She loves attention from her humans. Day potties well on leash so may not need a fenced yard if her family was willing to leash walk her. Whoever meets her is going to fall head over heals for this tiny, bundle of joy. Day is a wonderful sweet, loving girl that is about as perfect as she could be.

Dreamer never raced, just wasn't interested in it. So she flunked out of training and the final step of her registration process, getting a registered name, wasn't completed. She was tattooed at 3 months and her Left ear is 69464 and Right ear tattoo is 106C. Her sister CTW Sonnys Dream was registered to race. Dreamer was born on Oct 13 of 2016 so she won't even turn 2 for some time. Dreamer was raised on the beautiful CTW farm in Texas, a farm that some of our volunteers have been to. Her sire is CTW Base Camp and her dam is CTW Legalese. Dreamer is a very kissy, snuggly girl once she warms up. She has been pretty overwhelmed with the move from the farm to the track adoption kennel so she could be sent to an adoption group. The first day, fast movements caused her to bolt and she was pretty worried but she was still snuggling with people as soon as she got into her foster home. She has not been cat tested but didn't have enough prey drive to chase a lure so we are pretty sure she will pass that test. She was not interested in a fast moving white dog at all. She was raised around kids at the farm and is in a foster home with small children.

He won't turn 2 until October 16th so is still very young. Berry raced at 74lbs so is a mid sized male that is more stocky and muscular than tall. His sister Hurricane Carla is arriving with him from the same kennel. Their sire is Barcelona Boss and their dam is Hurricane Riot. Riot's mother, Audacious, is a dog that we placed. Berry travels well and so far has been pretty quiet in his kennel.  He seems like a calmly friendly guy that is perfectly happy exploring the backyard by himself and isn't too needy. He passed his cat test easily with only a casual sniff. He also seemed to like the kids he met and did fine with the small dogs he saw too.

He is a very calm guy that gets along very well with all the other dogs in the kennel. He is very well behaved and very sweet. We have been waiting on him to retire since we met him. Escapade had a long racing career of a 105 races (since each race is about 30 seconds that is just over 50 minutes of total actual racing time). She started out at Abilene KS, then went to Daytona Beach where she quickly went up to the top A level and won 25 races and even won 6 races in a row! Then she was moved to a tougher track with more competition in Wheeling WV. She did well there and even got up to the top AA level there but she wasn't able to win as many races as she had before, so was moved back to Daytona Beach. She retired January 27th of 2015 and went back to the farm to become a mom and hopefully pass on her racing speed and skill. She had two puppies in March of 2016 that have started racing now. Probably another litter or two that just aren't registered yet too. Escapade is a happy, bouncy, girl that has never met a stranger. She is very sweet and loving, travels well and has personality plus. She raced at 60lbs and turned 7 on March 8th. Her sire is Coldwater Konow and her dam is Lil Kaci. Escaped passed her cat and small dog tests so should be able to live with either. She has been good with the children she has met and seems to really like them.

Groomsman just arrived from the Birmingham Race Track. He is very young and won't turn 2 until October 5th. He didn't actually ever have an official race, so either was too slow or just not that interested in chasing during training. Groomsman is an extra large guy that is very tall so that may have made it more difficult for him to run especially in the turns. He is still a skinny pup that needs to fill out some and we would guess a good weight for him would be in the upper 80s to 90lbs. His sire is Kiowa Myth and his dam is Kiowa Bride. He is a grandson of the famous Flying Hydrogen that one of our volunteers owned after retirement. Groomsman is very good on leash and pretty calm and well behaved for such a young guy. He still has the submissive puppy attitude and will lower his head submissively when he comes up for petting. He is very friendly and seems to like people and kids. He passed his cat and small dog tests easily but we have noticed in foster care that he still has a little interest when they run around him so he needs careful supervision at first. He was a little nervous at first in a home environment but he gets more playful and silly after a few days. He just has the sweetest personality. Groomsman kennels very quietly, even when he is alone. He is very clean in his crate and will whine to let you know he has to go out. That is the only time he makes noise in the kennel though. He is a natural sitter which is a position that is not comfortable for most greyhounds. He sometimes will do a little sideways Elvis grin just on one side. This is the prettiest boy that seems like he will do well in just about any situation. We just love him!

Robbie came in from the Sanford Orlando Race track. He raced 71 races there and did get up to the top A level briefly. His last race was Feb 5th. Robbie raced at 77lbs and will turn 3 on July 22nd. He is the son of WW All Star Owen that we adopted out recently and his dam is Kentucky Ashley. Robbie passed his cat test so should be fine to live with cats or smaller dogs. He is a very handsome white boy with brindle spots. Robbie is a pretty confident guy that thought he was the boss of the other boys he was turned out with at the track. He got along well with all but one that didn't see eye to eye with Robbie and they had to be watched closely. Robbie has been doing fine with the other males in his foster home and hasn't tried to be bossy with any of them. He backed right off when a female got after him for sniffing her too much during transport and was a complete gentleman. Robbie has been the perfect gentleman since he arrived and is very well behaved in his foster home and has followed all the rules. He did pull hard on the leash wanting to check everything out at first, but his foster mom worked with him on that and reports that he is excellent on leash now. Robbie only had one accident in his foster home so picked up on potty training exceptionally fast. His foster mom says he is a wonderful boy that is a joy to have around. He isn't really that food motivated and will lay there and just look at his food bowl sometimes and wait to eat until he is ready. He has really liked the children he has met. Robbie has the cutest puppy face and is so sweet!

She loves to follow her foster family and the other dogs in her home around. She is very food motivated so would probably learn tricks really fast for food. Snitch is very quiet in her crate and sleeps through the night. She has adapted to foster care really easily.

Buzz came in from Jade Feise at the Naples Ft Myers Race Track. He just raced 9 races there and only won one of those so was retired young. His last race was January 18th and he has been waiting in the kennel since then. Buzz just turned 2 on April 17th. He is a big stocky guy that raced at 80lbs. His sire is the famous KC and All and his dam is HS Texoma. Buzz was too excited around cats, so needs a home without them. He was fine with a 15lb Italian Greyhound, so may be OK to live with smaller dogs. Buzz is a friendly, happy guy that loves people and will be very devoted. He likes playing in the yard and would love to have a fenced yard of his own. He is very food motivated, so would be perfect for someone that wanted to train tricks, agility or do obedience with a dog. He doesn't get up on the furniture so far. Buzz would like a home with another large dog in it because he doesn't like to be left totally alone. He is doing really well in a home with several other greyhounds, but didn't do well when left totally alone in a home with no other dogs. Buzz loves to play with toys and has learned how to fetch already. He is a very smart guy that will be a lot of fun for a lucky family.

Marvin is coming in for one of our volunteers that met him on a trip to the track and has been waiting on him to retire. So he is not available for adoption. Marvin is rare blue/grey male. He raced at 77lbs and raced 118 races. He was a fantastic racer racing at Wheeling Downs, one of the top tracks. He raced at the top A and AA levels there. Once he started slowing down a bit he was moved to Sanford Orlando to finish out his career and has just retired from there. He turned 4 on Jan 9th. Marvin's sire is the famous Trent Lee and his dam is Barts Magpie. He is a sweet boy that is friendly with people and other dogs. He gets along well with all the other dogs at the kennel and never causes any trouble. A really good boy. Marvin passed his cat test so should be fine to live with cats or small dogs. He has done fantastic since he arrived. We found that he loves to play with toys and he spends a lot of time playing in the yard with the kids in his new family. He is a pretty submissive boy that tries hard to please and tries not to do anything wrong.

He race 56 races and got up to the top A level at Sanford Orlando briefly. Harry turned 3 on March 21st and is a very small 66lb boy. His sire is BD's Grayson and his dam is DS Katie. Harry passed his cat and small dog tests so should be able to live with either.  He liked the children he met and tried to get them to play with him. He travels well and kennels well. He seems like a friendly, calm guy that should do well in just about any situation. Harry was brought in for a specific family and was adopted by them shortly after he arrived.

Kaage (Augusta GA)
Adoption Status: Adopted by the Burnside Family of Martinez GA 7/4/18

Sippin is a beautiful 66lb red girl that just arrived from the Sanford Orlando Race track. She raced 170 races so had a long career. She also raced at Naples Ft Myers, Flagler, Mardi Gras and Dubuque tracks, so traveled around quite a bit. She mainly raced at the lower D levels but did get up to the top A level briefly during her career. Her trainer says she is a sweet girl that keeps her crate clean and is very quiet. Sippin is very reserved at first with strangers but does warm up with time. Her sire is the famous KC and All and her dam is Rain On Me. She turned 4 on January 16th. Sippin still needs tested with cats and small dogs. As expected, Sippin was very overwhelmed by the move from the track kennel into a foster home. The first day it took her foster family 5 hours to catch her and get her back in the house after a potty break in their fenced yard. Sippin just was too afraid to come back inside or to let people she didn't know close enough to her to catch her. So she will need to be leash walked until she gets to know her new family. She is just timid and will need time and patience. She was friendly and happy at the track with the trainers she knew and loved. It may take a few weeks or even a few months for her to warm up to a new family and new environment. She is starting to slowly warm up and follows her foster family from room to room but stays just out of reach most of the time. She is very quiet and never makes a peep. Sippin has done really well on walks in the neighborhood with other greyhounds and seems to gain confidence from being with a more confident greyhound. She would love to have a greyhound brother or sister and a safely fenced yard in her new home. Sippin just glanced at the cats she saw in the vet's office and didn't even try to go near them so we think she would be OK to live with cats and small dogs.

Tea just arrived from the Sanford Orlando Race Track in Florida. She also raced at Derby Lane in St Pete. She briefly got up to the top A level, but mostly raced at the lower levels. Tea will turn 3 on July 19th. She raced at 62lbs. Her sire is Defrim Bale and her dam is All Access Pass. Tea passed her cat test so should be fine to live with cats and small dogs. According to her trainer, Tea is a bouncy, happy girl that is a little more active than the average greyhound. She has been pretty quiet and overwhelmed since she arrived so far. She was pretty timid with people and was uncomfortable with strange dogs sniffing her. By the end of the first day she was standing and letting us pet her rather than shying away, so we think she will warm up pretty fast. She is eating well and slept through the entire first night without a peep. Her trainer says she was a barker at feeding time and wasn't shy about telling her that she needed to be fed first. Her trainer also told us that she was an energetic happy fun girl at the kennel and we are already seeing that after just a few days.

Diamond just arrived from the Sanford Orlando Race Track. She is a cute brindle girl that turned 3 on Feb 19th. She has 53 races listed and raced at 62lbs. She raced at Valley Race Track in Texas and Derby Lane and Sanford Orlando Tracks in Florida. She wasn't a good racer and only won one race that we could find. She did place just enough at the lowest level to keep racing for awhile, but gradually spent more and more time at the back of the pack, so was finally retired. She passed her cat test but we listed her as "trainable" because she was excited to see the cat at first. She was just curious though and is excited to check everything new out. She quickly lost interest. She is a happy, friendly girl with a tail that wags all the time. Sometimes she wags so hard that the tail nearly wags her. Her sire is the famous Lonesome Cry and her dam is Atascocita Vita. Her trainer says she is a very outgoing girl bouncy, fun girl that tends to be a bit more energetic than most. Really a sweet girl that likes everyone she meets so far.

Kendal came in from the Palm Beach Race Track where she spent about half of her racing career of 57 races. She also raced at Orange Park. She mainly raced at the lower levels of racing but did win a few races and did a lot of placing. She is a small, light fawn female that raced at 58lbs. She seems really calm and well behaved and didn't make a peep in her kennel. She will turn 4 on August 1st. Her sire is KC and All and her dam is Mani Sweet. Kendall was adopted in January of this year and was renamed Kombi. She is being re-homed due to a work schedule change. She is now home for too long by herself every day and the person that comes to let her out in the afternoon is going to be unavailable soon. She does fine with 8 hours, but they are often gone longer than that. Her family has made the difficult decision to have us find her another home. Kombi has been living with a cat and a small dog. She lets the cat wash her and play with her. Her mom says that she is a very good girl and very well behaved. She has been living with older children, a 10 and an 18 year old and has been very good with them.

Adoption Status: Adopted by the Whitson Family of Columbia SC 6/16/18

Greer just arrived from a farm in Arkansas. We aren't sure why she never raced but most of the rest of her litter did. All the girls in the litter were very good racing at the top levels and competing in Stakes races. Most of them went on to become Moms like Greer. Greer has a total of 11 puppies that have been registered to race so far but she could have another younger litter or two that has yet to be registered. She had one litter in 2014 that have all already been retired from racing. Greer had another litter in 2016 and most of those are racing right now. Greer will turn 7 on October 23rd. Since she never actually raced she doesn't have a racing weight but we would guess her to be around 60lbs. Her sire is the famous Rhythmless and her dam is Pawn Of Ruckus. Greer is timid at first and seems pretty overwhelmed by all the changes in her life. She is very calm and quiet and likes the safety of her crate so far. She seems like a very laid back girl but may just need time to get more comfortable before she gets confident enough to show her personality. She isn't terribly shy or scared of people, she is just unsure. Greer passed her cat and small dog tests so should do fine in a home with either one. More as we get to know her.

Adoption Status: Adopted by the Arrowood Family of Morgonton NC 6/15/18

Journey just came in from the Sanford Orlando Track. He is an extra large male racing at 88lbs. He raced 43 races and started out racing at Southland in Arkansas. He only raced a few races there and was moved to Sanford Orlando for the rest of his career. He got up to the top A level briefly. He injured his hock on January 6th and hasn't raced since then. He was healed up and rehabbed at the track in hopes he could return to racing, but after he ran a couple of practice runs his trainer decided to retire him rather than risk him re-injuring the hock. Journey is a gentle giant of a dog. He has no idea he is the biggest dog in the kennel and is actually sensitive and a bit timid. He may need some time to warm up to a new family. Journey was overwhelmed when he got into foster care. He still wagged his tail a little and approached cautiously if called. He would shy away from fast movements and loud noises. Journey caught onto the steps to go outside pretty fast after being afraid to try them the first time. He passed his cat test so should be able to live with cats or small dogs. He is a beautiful black male that will turn 3 August 21st. His sire is the famous Djays Octane and his dam is Prickly Pooch. He seems like a timid sensitive boy that will warm up pretty fast to his new home and family. He is quiet in his kennel and eats well even when stressed. He hasn't skipped a meal and seems to be adjusting well to his new food.
