Lolita is a pretty little 62lb light fawn girl. This is a littermate to one of our prior placements named Dim Sum and has the same mother as Blondie, Annie and Katie who we placed that have become wonderful pets. She comes from a breeder that hand raises only one litter of racing greyhound pups a year. Most of their dogs are very social and very people oriented. Her racing owner says she is the most loveable, snuggler that he has ever had and is his favorite greyhound of all the ones he has raised. He had a hard time letting her go but already has quite a few greyhound pets in his home so really can't keep another. She has been living with little dogs at his farm and gets along well with them. He says she doesn't pay any attention to the barn cats either so should be fine with either. So far she has been a little overwhelmed with the big move and has been very quiet and subdued and seems like she may be a little shy initially until she gets comfortable in a new situation. Her owner assures us that as soon as she warms up that she will be an incredibly devoted pet. Lolita is the cutest thing with these big doe eyes and stand up ears. She just stares up at you looking for cues on what to do next. When we weighed her at the vets she stood on the scale and didn't move once she was placed there. When we put her in her crate on the hauler she jumped right in but had to be given permission and encouragement to come back out when it was time. She seems like she will be a real easy dog that is going to look to her owner for all her cues and will want to please. She retired and has been living on a farm with her racing owner for awhile and hasn't been in a crate for awhile. She has been a little vocal about her dislike of the crate so may not be the best apartment dog unless she improves. |

Bailey is the littermate to Manny (Aeros Darkman) and several other dogs we have placed recently. He was the best racer of the litter so was the last to retire. A minor muscle injury forced his retirement from racing recently. This is very minor and will not cause any permanent problem for Bailey and if he had been a better racer they may have rehabbed him and had him continue racing after he healed. His trainer describes him as a real lovable guy. When he comes in from his turn outs every day he always goes up to his trainer for a pet and a kiss before going on to his crate. His trainer thinks Bailey will make a better pet than racer. Bailey was raised by breeders that hand raise only one litter of racing greyhounds a year. He has been well socialized and already knows what it is like to be a pet and clearly loves people. He passed his cat and small dog test at the track so should be OK to live with either. His foster home has both and will do further testing. |

Littermates Walt Ford and Ron Green just arrived! Ron is a friendly people oriented guy that gives kisses and seems like he has been trained to give gentle hugs too. He seems to want to get as close to his people as possible wanting his head in your lap when standing next to you or even trying to get up in your lap on the couch. Good thing he is a smaller guy. Ron also passed his initial cat test by only sniffing and wagging, even when the cat ran from him so appears to be exceptionally cat tolerant like his brother Walt. Ron is described as being the most laid back of the two brothers and is a beautiful red boy. His trainer and owner says that he has never caused any trouble and is a real good boy at the kennel. He even recommended him as a good greyhound for a first time foster or adoptive home. Like his brother Walt, Ron was also an exceptional racer and was only retired because he was getting close to his 5th birthday and had a lot of races under his belt. His owner thinks it is time for him to retire and be a pet. This guy is going to take his retirement very seriously. Update Ron Green has been adopted and hikes often in the upstate SC area with his owners. |

Sissy is a mid sized 60lb, beautiful, red girl that just turned 4 in January. She is just as happy and sweet as she looks in her picture. Sissy is described as a very snuggly girl that enjoys snuggling with other dogs and people every chance she gets. She is the type of dog that will be up on the couch with you watching TV with her head in your lap. She has good kitchen manners so far - no counter surfing or begging. Sissy is a lower energy girl so should be an easy dog that won't require a lot of exercise - perfect for a busy family! She has had no accidents at all in the house during her potty training and is a clear communicator that will let you know when she needs you to put her outside. She crates well but does whine a bit sometimes in her crate so may not be the best dog for a condo or apartment. Although Sissy is a laid back girl she still loves to play with toys and bounce around in the yard for a little while between naps. Her foster family captured some cute pictures of her playing with toys. Sissy had no trouble learning how to walk on slick floors or learning how to do steps. She has lived with small dogs in her foster home and gets along well with other dogs of all sizes. She does want to please her people and quickly learned that the cats in her foster home were off limits. Smart and such a cutie! We just love that one floppy ear! Her Pedigree |

Manny came from a racing greyhound breeder that raises only about one litter a year. Their pups are hand raised and always very people oriented. Manny is a beautiful, rich, dark brindle boy that is on the small side for a male. He is sweet and quiet and shadows his foster dad everywhere he goes. He is going to be a very devoted dog for some lucky family. Manny was the more confident boy in the litter but doesn't seem to be a pushy guy and is very respectful of people and well behaved. Manny lost the end of his tail in an accident so has only half a tail, but he just thinks that and his stand up ears make him even more unusual and handsome. Manny is a sweet, loving boy that has settled into home life very well and has done great on his potty training and kennels well. He passed his cat and small dog tolerance tests so should be fine living with either one. |

Blarney was called Scrappy at his racing kennel at Derby Lane. He raced 131 races there and was good getting up to the top A level. He was retired in August of 2009 and was initially sent to another group that is shutting down now. After having him in foster care for awhile they ask us for help fostering and placing him. Blarney is becoming a favorite of our foster home and is just an all around great guy. He has gotten along well with all the other dogs in his foster home. He loves toys and joyfully throws them around to play. He would probably be happiest in a home with slightly older children only because he sometimes jumps in surprise when touched from behind. This will probably go away as he becomes more comfortable in a new home. He is very gentle though and doesn't snap or growl even when surprised. Blarney has responded well to the cat in his foster home and completely ignores it now so should be fine living with cats or small dogs. His foster mom describes him as so sweet that families won't be able to help falling in love with him! And look at all that dark eyeliner on those expressive eyes! He can complain loudly in his crate so probably wouldn't be the best dog for apartment living. This is a sweet boy that will steal your heart. |

Ruby is a beautiful girl who's starting over looking for her new home because her family is having a baby. They think she may be too playful and is likely to knock a toddler down. Ruby loves older kids though and is playful and would be a fun dog for a family with kids big enough to play with a dog. She is a wonderful dog that has been a loving family companion. She is healthy and completely up to date on her vetting and will be moving to her new home with some of her essentials as a gift to help her transition. Ruby has displayed varying responses to the cats she has been around in the family home. She will chase them, but will stop when they turn and face her. She might do OK with a family with cats that are confident around dogs and a family who is willing and able to set rules. Ruby's family describes her as a wonderful, people-oriented dog that should settle in happily with almost anyone. Lets get this beautiful girl home for the new year! |

Clyde is a laid back, friendly guy. He has quickly adjusted to home life. Clyde is smart and learned how to use a doggy door the first day. He has picked up on potty training automatically too. He travels very well and seems to enjoy it. Clyde has been great with his foster family's cat. Although Clyde is very friendly and loves attention he would do best in a smaller, quiet family. He was with a very large family with lots of children for a short time and didn't seem comfortable with the constant activity and would choose to stay in his crate. That is one of the reasons we think he would do better in a family with older, more quiet kids or no kids. Not much phases this guy otherwise. He is a happy go lucky guy that checks in frequently with his family and seems to want to please. He loves to go for walks and is very good on leash and potties quickly on leash when taken outside on leash so doesn't require a fenced yard. He is a more submissive guy temperment wise so seems like he could get along well with other dogs. |

Pat the Hammer just arrived. We are really excited and surprised to get this famous racer as a pet. It is rare that a dog that raced this well is available as a pet without a long career as a stud dog first. This is a great guy that has quite the history of winning races including more than one Stakes Race. Wish he could give us his autograph. Pat is a very outgoing loving guy. He loves to put his head on you and just stare up into your eyes. He will rub his head on you every chance he gets. He is a great guy that was so well behaved when he arrived it was as if he had already lived in a home. He loves children and shows no prey drive toward cats or small dogs so should be able to live with either. This a great guy that is confident without being pushy and is so so sweet! You can tell that he is used to being admired and treated like the elite racer that he is. He just LOVES people but seems to get along with other dogs just fine too. Congratulations to the Pat's foster family! He is going to be staying with them permanently. This guy was a prize that they just couldn't let go. Pat's Pedigree |

Night Bandit is a champion racer. He raced at the top tracks Southland and Wheeling Downs and won a lot at the top AA levels. He also won stakes races. He was retired after 129 races to be a stud dog and has 35 pups listed. Now he has been retired from his second career. His sire is the famous Craigie Whistler and his dam is BC's Sady Hawkin. He was born on October 6th 2003. More as we get to know this special guy. |

Drama was born on June 13th 2008. Her sire is the famous Kiowa Sweet Trey and her dam is Superior Moment. She is a sweet friendly girl that doesn't have any races listed. She passed her cat and small dog tolerance test so should be able to live with either. Drama is doing great in her foster home and gets along well with all the other dogs there. |

Mo is an economy return we've been asked to be given a second chance at a new family because of the loss of a job. He is not being returned because of any behavior problem. Mo likes: rides in the car, walks long or short, a good belly rub, treats, human companionship and a nice cuddle in bed (to his disappointment NOT allowed at his foster home). Mo dislikes: cats and being crated. Mo is great with children and tends to be a ma ma's boy. He came from a household with 3 dogs so should be able to get along great in a home with existing dogs. He is playful, but respectful with his 3 new foster sisters and brother. He has adapted quickly to a new routine and house rules. A smart boy. Mo surprised everyone at the fun run. This quiet lay-back boy can really still run. He held his own at the front of the pack. What a beautiful sight! Sleeping or running Mo is the Magic Man"." |

Jeserell is a bouncy, happy little girl. Her tail wags furiously if she even thinks you are paying attention to her or looking her direction, in fact she wags her whole body. She is very friendly, loves people and gives plenty of kisses. She passed her cat and small dog test so should be able to live with either. She is very food motivated and will eat well in or out of her crate. She loves her crate and will often choose to lay in there with the door open. She loves toys and will collect them all in her crate. She never has torn up a toy though, just carries them around. She follows her foster mom around the house curiously but not in a too needy way that could be annoying. She is a pretty confident girl that is likely to be the more dominant female in a pack of dogs. Jezerell is such a love bug that you just have to love her back. Jeserell is a littermate to ThatsWhyURThere who is one of our other recent adoptions. She is a half sister to Jet, Drama, and Cracker Barrel many of our other already adopted hounds. Her father seems to throw some exceptionally nice dogs. |

Giggles is a very large muscular girl that looks more like an Arnold than a Giggles. Her sire is the famous Trent Lee and her dam is Racers Roulette. DOB 4/11/08. She raced 13 races at Dubuque and then Birmingham. She has a gorgeous, very black, shiny coat and white feet and tip of tail. Giggles is very friendly, happy and loves people. Her tail wags like crazy and she even grins happily sometimes. She play bows and gets silly trying to get people to play with her. She was so busy trying to get her foster mom to play with her that she ignored two greyhound puppies that were running, barking and playing around her. Funny how dogs can be more devoted to people than their own kind. She has shown no interest in chasing a small dog in her foster home. She showed some initial interest about the cat but it seemed to be just curiosity. We think she will probably be Ok with cats with a little more exposure to them. Giggles traveled well on her trip from the track to her foster home and on her trips back and forth to the vet. Giggles loves playing with toys and rope toys are her favorites. She seems like she would be a very good running partner for short distances - greyhounds are sprinters so cant run for long. She runs along side her foster mom in the fenced yard in nearly a perfect heel position with no leash at all. Giggles seems drawn to children so should be excellent in a home wth kids. This is a gorgeous girl with a great personality. She tends to have a submissive personality so should be fine living with more dominant dogs. This is a fun girl that is happy in just about any situation. She doesn't seem to be worried about anything and everyone she meets makes her wiggle with happiness. |

Racer was a special order greyhound that was brought in for one of our families that was looking for a specific dog that would fit in with their current greyhounds. If she settles in with their family she will be staying so may not be available. She is a tiny, friendly fawn girl that passed her cat and small dog tests at the track. Her sire is the famous Flying Hydrogen and her dam is Cals Kickin Kay More on her as we get info from her family. |

Star is a cute tiny 55lb brindle girl that is sweet, playful and funny according to her foster family. She gets along well with other dogs of all sizes but is a bit too interested in chasing cats to be OK living with them. She has lived with small dogs in her foster home with no problem. She has liked the children she has met so far. This tiny beauty has looks and personality and you can't help but smile around her. Update from her new foster home! Star is an amazing little angel! She came right into her new surroundings without hesitation, meeting everyone calmly and carefully checking everything around her. She sleeps peacefully and quietly in her crate and has been totally clean without any accidents inside. This is a VERY nice girl who will be the perfect first greyhound or addition to an established pack. The first family who meets her for adoption will fall head over heels in love! |

Harry is a full littermate to tiny little Road Rumbler, already adopted by GC. Harry follows the well-known history of Maryville Rumble pups by being an awesome, easily-adaptable boy. His dam is Greys Tarmac who we also placed. He is a smaller male racing at 69lbs. DOB 8/4/2008. He only has 10 races listed a few at Derby Lane and one at Sanford Orlando. He is very mellow and lives in his foster home with a cat, walking by and hardly giving a glance. He's already been vetted and has responded well to house-training. He sleeps well in his crate at night too. He is good with kids, cats and other dogs. What a nice, all-around greyhound ready for his new home! |

Fib has earned a new name. She is so devoted and stays so close to her foster mom that she started calling her Shadow. As you can see Shadow is a beautiful, dark brindle female. She has the softest fur that feels more like rabbit fur than dog fur. She LOVES LOVES LOVES people and will lean on you for attention - a greyhound hug. Shadow will stand in one spot as long as you will pet her. As you can imagine she is always a real hit at meet and greets with her sweet, friendly personality. FIb loves her squeaky toys and tosses them in the air for herself to catch. She loves playing outside in the yard and will play fetch and actually bring the ball back you. That is pretty rare in greyhounds and most will quickly let you know that they are not retrievers if asked to fetch more than once or twice. Shadow is a fun girl that loves attention and wants to do whatever you are doing. Although she sleeps in her kennel at her foster home she would prefer to sleep in the room with her family when she finds them. Shadow is a confident girl that gets along well with other dogs but is likely to want to be the dominant female in her home. She tested cat and small dog tolerant at the track. She initially showed some interest in the cat in her foster home but has gotten used to living with cats now. She initially mistook small dogs for bunnies too at a distance but was fine once she was properly introduced and got a good sniff. She should be fine now that she has spent time with both. She has done great on potty training and will let you know when she needs to go out. This fun loving girl is in search of a family with lots of love to give and she promises to give even more back. |

FIre is a 3 year old, small, black, male that raced at 66lbs. His birthday is Jan 28th. Fire passed his cat, small dog and kid tests so should be fine in a home with them. He is a quiet guy so should also be great in an apartment or townhouse. He seems like a smart guy that picks up on things fast. He picked up on going to the door and letting his foster family know when he needed to go outside right away and has not had one accident in the house. Update: Fire has become one of the sweetest dogs that his foster home has ever fostered (they have fostered a lot of dogs). He tries his best to be a big lap dog and follows his foster parents around. He loves people and wants nothing more than to stay close to them. This guy would love to lay on the couch and snuggle. He seem like a very tolerant guy that would be excellent with other dogs because he is unusually good with two puppies living in his foster home. |

Addie Girl raced just one race at Jefferson County Kennel Club before it closed. Her sire was Lonesome Cry and her dam is Baby Doll Rock. She was born on May 22nd 2006. |

Sissy is a small outgoing girl that loves people. She is a happy little girl that gives hugs and grins when she is happy. She has been home acclimated already. Her foster home says she is just a joy to have around and is very well behaved. Sissy has lived with cats for 6 months but played too rough with a kitten so would need to be placed only with other small animals that are very clear about not wanting to play with her. As tiny as she is, there is just too much of a size difference between cats and tiny dogs to allow them to play with a larger dog. Sissy would prefer a home with no children or older quiet children. She lived with a couple of very young children and didn't care for their level of activity and noise after a few months. |

Lulu is a sweet brindle girl that retired due to a pretty common minor muscle injury in her back leg. Fortunately this injury heals up well on its own and doesn't cause any limping or permanent problem for the dog. She will be fine to run around again and play very soon and her adoption does not need to be held up because of this type of injury. Lulu is really a nice girl that seems like a pretty laid back girl. Her trainer said she was low key and well behaved and never caused any problems at the kennel and that seems to be a good description of her according to her foster home. She does like toys and will play with them but is a lower energy girl that should be a really easy dog. She is another Maryville Rumble pup and he seems to throw some exceptionally sweet well behaved dogs. We have also adopted out a quite a few pups from her mother's line that have been very sweet dogs. It would be hard to go wrong with this great combination. She is a mid sized female that raced at 62lbs. She seems like she is likely to be the perfect companion and is settling into her foster home as if she has always been there. |

Newsflash--- 3 littermates! Aeros DarkMan, Aeros Puzzler, and Aeros Kruger have arrived! Fred (Aeros Kruger) is a happy, affectionate, laid back pup and just an all-around good guy. This fellow is a friend to everyone and will make a wonderful companion. He is settling in very well to his foster home already and has already learned good house manners. His foster family loves him and would keep him if they didn't already have a full house. He is a special guy that has just made himself at home in a very short amount of time. His foster family says that this boy has had no issues whatsoever and is a sweet as he is handsome. Fred will be a great addition for some lucky family! |

Ruthie is a sweet, friendly girl that wags like crazy when she meets people. She has been doing quite well with the transition to pet life. She loves attention and everyone is her friend. This outgoing girl is very inquisitive and checks out everything and nothing seems to scare her or bother her. Ruthie passed her cat and small dog test at the track but has show some initial interest in some cats she has met so will need a careful introduction and supervision around cats at first. She seems to lose interest in them pretty quickly. She just needs to know what they are. She seems like a great all around dog that will enjoy doing just about anything that her family wants to do. She still needs a little work on walking on leash without pulling but once she picks that up she would be nearly perfect. This is a fun playful girl! |

Newsflash--- 3 littermates! Aeros DarkMan, Aeros Puzzler, and Aeros Kruger have arrived! Puzzle got his name because of a question mark on his forehead. Puzzle is a very happy dog, full of life and playful. He has lots of energy being a young boy, but is well-mannered on lead. Puzzle is currently being vetted and looking for his foster placement, but so far he has settled in and been a very nice guest. He showed no interest in the resident cats on his first test so we are calling him probably trainable at this point. We will test him again to confirm at our first opportunity. The first thing visitors notice about Puzzle is that he's so friendly and happy to see everyone! He wants to wag and play, and give kisses, at every opportunity. If you're looking for an outgoing, active greyhound boy who's ready for every new adventure, this is absolutely your dog! Update: Puzzle was adopted by the Sundeen family and renamed Romeo in 2011. The Sundeens moved to Colorado in 2012. Due to a family situation they had to re-home him in 2014, 3 years after adopting him. Romeo found new owners in Colorado with the help of Colorado Greyhound Adoption. |

Hillary has so much natural black "eyeliner" around her expressive eyes that she looks like she is made up for an awards show so we can kind of see how she would be named for a movie star. Hillary is a tiny, beauty that raced at only 53lbs. She is still nearly a pup and doesn't turn 2 until April. Hillary is very devoted to people and loves attention. She probably wouldn't be quiet enough to be an apartment dog because at the track adoption kennel she would bark and whine when adopters would come in trying to get their attention. Hmmm maybe another movie star behavior? Hillary has showed no interest in chasing the cats or small dogs in her foster home so could live with either. She wants to sleep in the same room as her foster mom and complains loudly if she is not allowed to. So far she has not gone potty on leash on walks but she does like to go for walks. She will definitely need a fenced yard to do her business in with a fence higher than 4 feet. She has been able to get over a gate that was nearly 4 feet high to get back to her foster mom. More as we get to know her. |

CurlyQ is a precious girl that is full of personality and silliness. She earned her name because the end of her tail curls like a piggy's!! When you look at her or talk to her that tail just wags. She is a real velcro dog and will want to be with you no matter where you go. She is a red brindle with lots of 'stripes' on one side and very few on the other. She seems to be the sort of greyhound that will fit in with anyone. When laying down she will put out a paw to get attention when you walk by. She tested as trainable with kitties and small dogs and has actually been living with cats in her foster home. Although she wants to please and has proved that she can be trained to be around small animals, CurlyQ does have a high prey drive so we will need to introduce her carefully to any very small animals (dog or cat) that are in a potential home. She seems to be fine with small to medium sized dogs she has met but was quite interested in a very small dog. CurlyQ will be a wonderful addition to some lucky family and will keep you laughing with her silliness. CurlyQ is a half sister to two of our other available girls, Chato and Lily. Nina is a sweet, laid back pup for a girl that won't be two until January. We adopted out her mother and have many of her dad's pups in our program. All are fantastic pets and we expect Nina to be wonderful as well. Nina is another greyhound that grins when happy or excited. It is so cute and a sign that you have a submissive, nice tempered dog. Nina was pretty shy to begin with but has warmed up a lot in her first 3 weeks in a home. Now she has started to play with toys and be silly and is really blossoming. |

Reebok only has one race listed in Birmingham AL. His sire is Jimbo Scotty and his dam is Nodak She Devil. He raced at 71lbs so is a mid-sized guy. DOB 1/15/07. Rebok is a sweet, calm boy that loves people. He will follow his foster mom around and lay quietly behind her desk or by the bed at night. He is a grinner and will grin when you talk to him or when he sees his foster kids coming to play with him. He gets along well with large and small dogs as well as his foster home kitties. Reebok will make a great first greyhound! |

Ritzy is a young dark brindle female with a huge heart! She loves to cuddle. She will lay her head in our laps and she would sit in our laps if we let her. She gets along well with other dogs and with our very active boys (ages 10 months to 14 years). She is small dog and cat tolerant. She is a fun playful girl and would be great for a family with kids and/or other dogs. Ritzy has been living in a home and was returned along with her housemate Ramses because the owners couldn't keep them and not because of any behavior problems. Ritzy should be a fun well behaved addition to just about any family. She loves to go for rides as you can see in her photo. |

Kimberly is a tiny brindle girl that is the smallest greyhound her foster mom has ever seen. She was overwhelmed when she first arrived but is warming up quickly and is coming up for love and starting to play with toys and other greyhounds in just a few days. Kimberly passed her cat and small dog tests at the track so should be able to live with either. She potties on leash just fine so may be OK without a fenced yard. She is a very curious girl that seems to learn fast. Kimberly's Pedigree |

She is being rehomed along with her housemate Nora because her family is moving and are not taking the dogs with them. She is a sweet girl that is good with kids and has lived with small dogs. She has too high of a prey drive to live with cats though. Her Sire is ICU Smooth Talk and her dam is Kelso's Canoe. More as we get to know her. |

Booboo is a friendly, happy girl that was described as one of "the sweetest girls" at the kennel. Her personality really stood out to get her noticed in the crowd of 70 racers she lived with. Maybe part of that was her unusual name which certainly got everyone's attention. Don't worry, she is not a "pooper" and hasn't had too many "boo boos". Booboo passed her cat and small dog tolerance tests at the track so should be able to live with both. She is very well behaved in her foster home and with the other dogs in their home. Where she really shines is at meet and greets because she really loves her public and is making plenty of fans wherever she goes. This is a great girl that would do well in just about any situation and would be the perfect first greyhound or 10th. She walks nicely on leash too! And yes she does have an unusual chocolate brown spot on her nose. She is a one of a kind for sure. |

Bubba raced 40 races at the now closed Jefferson County Kennel Club. He only won one of those. He was placed in a home but came back to us as an Economy Return. He has been in a home so is already home acclimated. He is a big tall, pretty boy with a wonderfully quiet, laid-back personality but does have a playful goofy side too that makes him a fun boy. He is very sweet and safe with small animals and children. As you can see from his photos Bubba does have unique ears that sometimes end up in a position that make him look like he has been in a wind storm. He is such a cute guy and so well behaved. No behavior problems that we can see from this guy. He is going to fit right into some lucky home as if he has been there forever. His sire is Pompeys Gold and his dam is Baby Smile. |

Kohle is one of the rare greyhound puppies that became available because of an accidental breeding of two greyhounds. We received 4 pups from this litter along with their mother Sara (Sarandon). Greyhound puppies are rarely available because most pups are bred for racing and are not available for sale or adoption to the public until after their racing careers are over. Greyhound puppies are much different than the typical laid back calm adult greyhound. Pups are like puppies of other breeds - hyperactive, destructive and need constant supervision. We don't recommend them for the average busy family. Update after adoption: Kohle has grown up to be a tall well behaved young greyhound. He still gets together occasionally to play with his littermates. He also encourages greyhound adoption at Greyhound Crossroads events. |

Chug came back into the GC adoption process through no fault of his own. His owner, who loves him very much, is experiencing severe allergic reactions that can't be corrected with medication. She describes him as the perfect dog and is trying to do everything possible to ease his way into another home. Not only will she be donating $100 of his adoption fee on her own, but the new family will have the advantage of his next year under the Banfield Animal Hospital (PetSmart) health care program. Chug comes with his own care package of supplies as well. This is a wonderful, sweet, home-acclimated boy coming from a situation where his family has done everything possible. Chug is calm and well behaved but playful enough to be a fun guy. His foster home says he is quiet and gets along great with their many cats and small dogs. He has been absolutely no problem and very well behaved throughout the transition to his foster home. Since he is so quiet and well behaved he is likely to be a good dog for apartment or townhouse living. Let's get him back home for the holidays! |

Hi my name is Ty. I am available for adoption because of the economy. I was a very good pet and my family wanted to keep me but were forced to put me up for adoption because of a job loss and having no place to move with a dog. I am already used to living in a home and I have great house manners. I have lived with children before and really love them. Noisy crying babies freak me out a little though so I would prefer to live with kids that are toddler age or older. I used to attend meet and greets to promote greyhound adoption so am a greyhound ambassador. I am very friendly and outgoing and was great at my job. I love to go for walks and will potty on leash so will be fine without a fenced yard. I lived in an apartment with my previous family so would be quiet enough for apartment living. I am looking for a family that wants a mature lady with manners to share their life with. I am a playful, fun girl that still loves to play and gets along well with other dogs of all kinds. Because of my age I have been selected for a reduced adoption fee of $200! Link to her pedigree |

Piper is a very small brindle female pup at only 35lbs. She is 10 months old so probably won't get much larger and is likely to stay exceptionally tiny. She was originally adopted from a shelter so not much is known about her. She has no ear tattoos so can't be identified but looks like she is pure greyhound. Piper is a very friendly confident pup that loves people. She has lived in a home before and was given up because her family didn't know that greyhound puppies NEED a place to run and they didn't have any place for her to play. Greyhound puppies are not calm and laid back like adult greyhounds. They must have a place to play and run and need plenty of exercise like any other puppy. So far Piper has been very well behaved in the house but is an active dog that would love to have other dogs to play with or an active family to play with. She especially loves running and playing with kids and is pretty gentle even though she is pup. She loves balls and toys of all types and is very playful. She does jump up to give hugs and we are working on stopping that. Piper likes to snuggle and must have slept in bed with her former family because she cuddles right up. She loves to get right up in your lap and is small enough to be a lap dog. Piper is very smart and learned how to sit and shake in just a few minutes. She is very food motivated and responds quickly to training if treats are involved. Piper has grown a little since she arrived and has put on 5lbs. She now weighs 40lbs. |

Wally is a great older guy that has been in a home so has good house manners already. He was returned to our group through no fault of his own. His family just didn't have room for him. Wally has no idea he is a senior and still runs and plays with the younger dogs and has a great time. This is a precious guy that just wants a couch to call his own and someone to scratch his head. Wally is a very special case, a senior boy who has some special health considerations. A very kind supporter has donated his adoption fee to help him go home! His pedigree Update after adoption: Wally's is doing well in his home and was crowned King of the Beach 2010 at Beach Bound Hounds in Myrtle Beach. |

Max never really ended up being a racer which is why we got him so young. He wouldn't come out of the starting box. His sire is the famous Dave The Dog that lives in our area and his dam is ICU Gatsby. He weighs about 80lbs, DOB 9/29/08. He is a very tall boy that is a gentle giant and is actually pretty timid. This shy guy is very happy in his crate and so quiet in his crate he could easily be an apartment dog. He also potties well on leash walks so doesn't require a fenced yard. Max likes to lean up against people and feels more comfortable if he can lean against you if he is nervous or in a new place. Like most shy dogs he is frightened of loud noises and quick movements so might adapt better to a home without small, loud children. Max loves his crate and looks on it as a safe haven and will choose to hide there if something scares him. He walks perfectly on leash without pulling unless he gets startled. When startled he tends to bolt for his crate. He learned stairs quickly and seems to catch on to new things pretty quickly. He is warming up the longer he is in his foster home and is starting to greet people happily that come to visit. So far he has been exceptionally calm for such a young guy. He has started playing with the dogs in his foster home and is exceptionally tolerant even with a puppy. Max is submissive with other dogs and has shown no sign of any dominance at all so seems like he would get along very well in a home with a more dominant dog. He is very cat and small dog tolerant. He LOVES to chew on bones but hasn't shown any sign of wanting to chew on anything else. This is a great boy that will just need some time to warm up to his new family. Update after adoption: Max has been spotted at many GC events encouraging greyhound adoption. He is not the shy boy that he used to be and has really come out of his shell. He is working toward being a Therapy Dog. |

Rumbler is a tiny little girl who raced at 52lbs. She only has 11 races listed at Derby Lane in FL. She didn't win one of those so retired young. Her sire is Maryville Rumble and her dam is Greys Tarmac who we also placed. Our volunteers who have met her just say over and over "she's so sweet!" We'll have more details on her shortly, but if you're looking for a little girl who's sweet as pie, this is your babe! |

Raccoon is a friendly girl with very unusual markings. She got her nickname at the track because of the black around her eyes. We haven't seen a fawn dog with this much white before either. She has a white blaze, a wide white collar around her neck, white stockings that go nearly all the way up her legs and half of her tail is even white. Raccoon figured out how to get off her kennel muzzle at the track so she ended up being the only greyhound that didn't have to wear one. She got along well with all the other girls in the turn out pen so she never really needed one. Raccoon loves to play with toys and carry them around. Her favorite at the track was an old cleaned out bleach bottle that she would proudly carry around. She figured out steps right away and has no problem with them. Raccoon has shown that she has a pretty high prey drive but has been OK with the small dog in her foster home after a proper introduction and supervision. She seems to be OK with cats too after an initial sniff but needs to be supervised when cats or small dogs move quickly around her at first until she realizes what they are. She responds very well to correction with cats and small dogs. Raccoon can be loud in the crate sometimes so may not be a good dog for apartment living. She has learned to potty on leash so may be able to live in a home without a fenced yard if her family was willing to leash walk her. Raccoon was loved by the Horton Bottiglier Family of Greenville SC for over 5 years. Sadly Raccoon crossed the bridge 1/18/16 due to bone cancer. Horton Bottiglier

Shilo is a pretty boy who's returning to GC through an economy return. His current foster hosts describe him as being very, very sweet and hasn't been any problem at all. He crates quietly, has been perfectly clean inside with no accidents, and has shown absolutely no interest in chasing any of the cats or small dogs he's met since his arrival. Shilo's original GC fosters had equally nice experiences with him among their pack and feel he's just a terrific, well-rounded boy. Shilo just needs a little visit with our group vet just for a checkup, but he is available for appointments to visit. This wonderful boy is just looking for his forever family! |

Blue Streak was a pretty successful racer at one of the top tracks- Southland in Arkansas. He raced 39 races there and did get up to the top A level. His sire is Maryville Rumble and his dam is Our Saucey. He is a mid sized guy that raced at 77lbs. DOB 5/2/07. Blue Streak is a very handsome guy with his rare, blue brindle coloring. Blue Streak is very friendly and loves to give kisses to anyone that puts their face down near his. He is very loving towards everyone he meets. He seems especially drawn to children and also passed his cat and small dog test with flying colors so should be able to live with either. He seems to get along well with the other dogs in his foster home including an annoying pup. This a guy that has it all - looks and personality! |

Miss Kitty was born in Ireland on 1/1/2003 and raced at such famous tracks as Clonmel and Galway among others. She was good and won some races. She was retired in May 2005 from racing and had 2 litters of pups in Ireland before being shipped to the US in 2007 while pregnant with her 3rd litter. She had 3 litters in the US and was retired from being a mom in 2010 after having 28 puppies. Â Miss Kitty was adopted by the Elmore family in 2010 when she was 7 years old. She raced at about 58lbs. Miss Kitty was a wonderful sweet girl that couldn't have been a better pet. She will be missed. The Elmore family lost Miss Kitty on Feb 21st 2013 at 10 years old |

Santana is a handsome guy that has good house manners and has already been home acclimated. He didn't get along well with the other large male dog in his former home but was tolerant of the small female dogs. Santana would do better in a home with a female dog or a home with no dogs. He walks like a dream on leash and is calm and well behaved. Santana is all heart and totally devoted to his people and even has a heart shape in the fur between his eyes. He loves to have his ears scritched and will stand there as long as you will continue. He is the rare greyhound that has never tried to get up on any furniture. Santana loves to go for rides in the car and plays with balls and ropes. He kennels well but usually is left out because he never has chewed or messed up anything in his home. Santana would do best in a home with no young children. Foster Home Update! Santana is one really marvelous boy! He LOVES to play and will bring instant laughs to anyone closeby. He really is devoted to people and very much wants to be touched and loved. The only difficulty he's displayed in foster care is a slight hesitation to tile/vinyl floors, and if startled or approached by something odd, he tends submissive responses. Santana is a great dog who's absolutely ready to go home! Link to his pedigree. |

Gem raced 63 races at Seabrook and at Raynham Taunton tracks. She was good racing at the top A level and winning the GGR Cons. Championship Stakes Race. Her sire is Its AClevercatch and her dam is Greys Slap Happy. She was such a good racer we are surprised that she wasn't ever a mom but we are glad we got her. She is a small girl that raced at just 56lbs. We placed her when she first retired and she lived happily in a home for years until financial difficulties forced them to return her. Gem is a playful 8 year old who gets along well with cats and small dogs. She loves to chase squirrels in the yard and competes for 1st place while walking with her fellow greys. She does well with children but, would probably be best with children over 8 years. Gem seems to have a special affection for the man of the house and would be a wonderful pet for a retired owner or a stay at home parent. Gem cannot go an entire workday without going outside but, could probably easily learn to use a doggie door. She is well behaved, walks well on a leash, loves squeaky toys and is quite a love. Gem has been selected as the recipient of GC member support donations, lowering her adoption fee to $200. |

Our directors met Pooh on a trip to the Birmingham Race track to pick up dogs. Pooh had been previously adopted out by the adoption kennel at the Birmingham race track but that home had not worked out for her. She was back at the kennel when our group arrived to pick out dogs and Kim and Robert fell in love with her. Pooh lives to chase squirrels and you can tell she does a lot of squirrel chasing because she is so stocky and muscular. She look more like a body builder than a thin greyhound. She is a sweet friendly girl that never met a stranger. She can be a bit bossy with her brothers and is a very confident girl. |

Nora is a cute little black and white, six year old greyhound that is being rehomed by her family with her greyhound housemate Gabby because they are moving. Since she has been in a home most of her life, Nora is already home acclimated and has great house manners. She is good with cats, kids and small dogs so would fit in, in just about any home. Nora's litter never finished the registration process when they were young so none of them ever raced. We know one of her brothers well and he is a wonderful dog too. Nora had an injury to one of her legs when she was young and has a slight limp especially when she first gets up. This doesn't effect her life much other than keeping her from going up and down flights of stairs. She is fine going for short walks but isn't going to want to be a jogging or hiking partner. This is the perfect dog for a busy family that doesn't have much time to spend exercising a dog or maybe a lower energy family that can't do much walking. Link to her pedigree |
