Greyhound Crossroads

Fats is a special boy that was born with an abnormally short nose that is a bit crooked...well OK maybe a lot crooked. He thinks those things make him extra special and a true "one of a kind", and he is right. He is actually very cute with his unusual tiny little greyhound nose and definitely stands out in a crowd. Fats is a really sweet guy that loves everyone he meets and will just snuggle up for petting as long as you will pet him. He is very calm and well behaved. He does the cutest little snuffle and snort when he gets excited because of his nose. He travels well and on the trip up from the track just laid down and made himself comfortable. He even rolled over on his back and slept with his feet sticking up in the air in the van. Fats has some serious personality going on and is a very sweet, funny guy. He passed his cat test at the track too! So far he seems like he is a pretty laid back, low energy guy. He loves to play with toys and will play bow and act silly to get you to play with him. He is very gentle and his play sessions only last for a short time though. His sire is EM's Mac Attack and his Dam is Flirtnabout. His birthday is March 7th. Fats got sent to quite a few tracks in hopes he would find a place that he could be competitive. His crooked nose seems to affect his breathing a bit and he just wasn't able to be competitive and only was able to win one race in his career. Fats is fine running and playing with other dogs but tended to overheat at the track when he really ran hard in competition. This is such a sweet, easy, well behaved boy that seems to adjust well and fit right into just about any situation.

Ramona is a brindle girl that just arrived from the Jacksonville track. We got her because she was a littermate to Cheyenne Paula, another dog we adopted out. She turned 4 on June 1st and tested cat trainable at the track. She raced at 60lbs and her sire is the famous Dodgem By Design so she is a half sister to a bunch of other dogs we have placed. Her dam is Payday Pet. Ramona is described as friendly, sweet and playful.

Country Gift is a friendly girl that followed her trainers around the kennel while they were doing their chores. She is a very people oriented girl and very sweet. GIft seems like the type that will enjoy running around the yard and playing with toys - a fun girl. She has enough energy for an occasional jog or hike with her family. Gift has a beautiful rich red brindle coat with white feet and tip of tail that really makes her a showy stunning girl. She was very interested in chasing the cat during her cat test at the track kennel so has too much prey drive to live in a home with cats. We will do further testing with small dogs to see how she does with them. She needs a little work on walking on leash because she pulls some but seems better already with just a little instruction. A fast learner. Gift raced at 67lbs and will be 4 August 25. Update from her foster home! Gift has been wonderful since moving into retirement. She has wonderful dog body language and moved into her foster pack with no problems at all, quickly and quietly accepting the greetings from the home dogs. She potties perfectly on leash and has already learned to be much more polite while being walked. She has been accident--free inside, crates easily, eats and takes her surgery antibiotics without complaint, and has been a wonderful houseguest. Gift would make a really wonderful choice as a first greyhound as well as acclimating quickly into an existing pack. We have no way to test her in the home with small dogs, but her responses during the vet stay didn't show any prey drive toward them (We do know she isn't cat safe). Gift is a truly beautiful dog with a sweet temperament that's ready to go home! Gift has complained a bit when left alone so probably wouldn't be the best dog for apartment or townhouse living.

Clyde just arrived from the Flagler race track in Florida. He is a son of a famous sire that was owned by one of our volunteers named Teamster. His dam is Fashionably Late. Clyde's birthday is April 9th and he is 3 years old. He raced at 72lbs so is an average sized male greyhound. He retired due to a minor sprain so will need a couple of weeks of leash walking to heal up. He has gotten along well with the other greyhounds and a boxer in his foster home and did very well with the kids he met at a meet and greet. He crates well and corrects easily if he does anything wrong. Seems like a great guy! More as we get to know him.

Bear is a very large boy that raced at 80lbs. He just celebrated his 3rd birthday on May 24th. He is nearly all white with 3 small brindle spots on his side, tail and one ear. Bear loves everyone and gives kisses. He has an awesome, happy, friendly personality and is very goofy and silly. He follows his family around and can always be found close by if not laying at your feet. Not much bothers him and he loves everyone. Although he loves playing with kids and being around them most of the time, he has shown that he really doesn't like kids in his face or bothering him when he is laying down. Because of that we think Bear will do best in a home without small kids. He seems like he has a little too much prey drive toward cats to be able to live with them and did not pass his cat test at the track. He has been fine with a small, white dog that lived in one of his foster homes though so he seems like will be good in a home with small dogs. Bear corrects easily and all you have to do is tell him not to do something once or twice and he stops for good. This is a stunning guy with such a great personality!

Mike is a friendly, playful, happy boy that couldn't be any sweeter. He raced at 69lbs so is a smaller guy. Mike just turned 4 on May 30th. His sire is Daddy Warbark and his dam is Hip Hop Attack. He passed his cat test at the track and is living with a cat in his foster home so should be good in a home with cats. He has been good with kids he has been around too. Mike did great at a meet and greet with a band playing right next to him so he seems to be a dog that goes with the flow and doesn't worry about loud noises. He is a loving guy that loves people and attention.

Cherry is really a lover. She is waggy and happy and just loves everyone she meets. A very friendly, outgoing girl that raced at 60lbs. Her birthday is Otober 25th. Her sire is Be My Bubba and her dam is Momoni Chris. Cherry tested trainable with cats at the track and is doing great with the small dogs in her foster home. She traveled well on the trip up from Florida. Cherry takes food from your hand and loves to lay her head in your lap. She emptied the doggy toy box looking for the right toy the first day in her new home so seems to be very comfortable in new environments and she isn't bothered by much.

Haley just arrived and is a sweet, friendly girl that will roll over to get her belly rubbed. She was born on June 3rd and is 5 years old and is a smaller girl that raced at 57lbs. Haley is mostly white with some black spots and freckles. Her sire is Jimbo Scotty and her dam is HFK Lacey. Her foster home says she loves to snuggle and is very well behaved. She comes when called and is quiet in her crate and walks well on leash. She goes potty on leash so would do OK in a home without a fenced yard if they are willing to walk her. Haley has the cutest personality, always smiling and happy to see you. She passed her cat test at the vets office with only a little curiosity but never got too excited.

Sally raced at the Jacksonville Race Track at 60lbs. She is a well behaved sweet girl that is very outgoing and social. During the trip home she was very sure that she needed to help drive or at least be in a lap in the front seat. Sally's birthday is November 1st and she is two and a half years old. Her sire is the famous Dodgem By Design and her dam is Greys Storm Gust. Her foster mom says she is a smart girl and is pretty playful. She has been living with a 4lb dog and really wants to get him to play with her. She is a bit too big for that, but corrects easily with just a word and is learning that she isn't allowed to run and play with the very small ones. She enjoys chewing on rawhides, bones and antlers and crates well. Sally is so smart, responsive and wants to please that she might be a good candidate for someone wanting a dog to do obedience or agility with. She has already learned several commands in her foster home! Sally is very friendly, sweet and loving and seems like she will be a fantastic pet. She passed her cat test but was a little interested in the cats at first so we have her listed as cat trainable. What a cutie!! Sally does have a few scars on her from her littermates playing too rough with her as puppies but she considers them beauty marks that make her even more special.

Baker is a small girl that never finished the registration process to race so doesn't have an official racing name. She didn't race either and was retired when she was still just in training. She did start the registration process and has the ear tattoos that are done around 3 months old so we know who her parents are. She turns 2 in August. She should weigh around 63lbs but doesn't have an official racing weight. She is a little shy at first and her owner chose to just let her go into adoption rather than race her. She just arrived from the Jacksonville Race Track where she had been in training. Bakeris timid at first if you approach her fast. If you sit down she will come up and seek out affection. She seems like she really does want to be around people and enjoys being loved but just needs a little bit to warm up. She has been to one meet and greet so far and would go up to most people for love and seemed to prefer the children. Only a few people made her nervous so it looks like she will be a pretty friendly girl with a little more socializing. Baker picked up on potty training right away and is already comfortable enough in her foster home to play with toys - she really loves her toys! Baker is a gorgeous little, dark brindle girl that passed her cat test at the track and is living in a foster home with a small dog and cats. Her sire is Beyond the Chill and her dam is Teresa Jar.

Blade is a sweet, well behaved boy that is pretty calm. His birthday is December 20th and he is a littermate to another one of our available dogs Duchy and has been living with her in an adoptive home. Unfortunately his mom's schedule changed and she is suddenly having to travel for work so can't keep the dogs. Blade was good with the cats and a small dog in his former foster home. He seems to like kids and chose to go up to children at a PetSmart meet and greet. He is a friendly sweet little guy. His sire is Swahili Eile and his dam is To Shy to Say. We got Blade very young and he didn't have much of a race career but did go through some training to race.

Duchess (aka Duchy) is very, very cat tolerant and is good with small dogs too. She is a dark brindle with a wonderful dark face and her birthday is December 20th. She had a broken leg as a young pup so never raced. We got her directly from the farm she grew up on as a young dog. She has been living with her littermate Blade in a home for a couple of years now and is already home acclimated and well behaved. Their owner is suddenly having to travel weekly for work and was forced to give up the dogs because of all the time she has to spend away from them.

Fabulous Fox raced in Orlando and is a handsome, small, black male that raced at a just 69lbs. His sire is Tony's Oracle and his dam is Campbell Brown. Fox is a littermate to Jojo Girl and My Favorite which we also placed. His birthday is October 1st. His trainers said Fox was a quiet, calm and friendly. Fox would follow them around while they were doing chores and would choose to be with people over other dogs. He was good with other dogs too though. He is good with the small dogs he has been around and passed his most recent cat test. Fox crates well and loves to play with toys. He has the cutest puppyish face and the most beautiful shiny black coat. He is really stunning. Fox is the whole package, gorgeous good looks and a great easy going personality to match. His foster home just raved about what a good boy he is. He would be great for the first time greyhound adopter or would be a good addition to a home with several dogs already.

Gracie is home acclimated and has been in a home for several years since she retired from the track. Her birthday is Feb 20th and she is 6 years old. Her sire is Coldwater Konow and her dam is Moon Mt Treasure. Gracie walks and potties beautifully on a leash so would be fine with a family without a fenced back yard. She is safe with everything and has lived with cats and small dogs before. She crates wonderfully with no noise, and is very content on a dog bed. She has the cutest windmill tail, it doesn't just wag back and forth, she gets it cranked up and it might as well be a fan! Gracie is very calm and quiet. Her story has a new chapter, because she's coming back to our group in the hopes of finding her another location that suits her quiet tendancies better. Her current family loves her, but they feel she never became comfortable with their active lifestyle. Gracie, as they call her now, is a wonderful girl who needs a more low-key environment. She is good with kids but has been choosing to stay in the bedroom rather than being out with the family so her family thinks a home without small rowdy kids might make her more comfortable. If you're looking for a home-acclimated, well behaved girl, she's waiting for you!

Speedo is a tiny boy that raced at just 63lbs. His racing trainer has small kids so his is used to being around children in his kennel. He is just gorgeous with a very shiny, healthy, black coat. He seems like a calm, sweet, well behaved boy. His birthday is May 22nd. His sire is Deerfield Site and his dam is Steffie's Charm. He was a pretty successful racer racing 211 races. He past his cat test and is living with a cat in his foster home and doing well with it. Speedo is a happy guy that can be just a little on the goofy side sometimes. He loves people. No his tongue is not abnormally long like it looks in his photos. It was just a very hot day when we were taking pictures of him.

Kiki raced at 66lbs and her birthday is Feb 1st 2002. She is one of the most affectionate dogs to ever visit her foster home! She's one of those greyhounds that truly wants to be part of your life. She is the type of dog that people dream of, one that will follow you around from room to room and lay down calmly next to you to keep you company. She's completely clean in the house, crates immediately at the request to 'go to bed' and loves to get up and relax on the couch with you. A true couch potato. Kiki has the sweetest little long face and expressive ears that fold forward whenever she's excited about something. Her foster family has noticed her ability to pick up new commands very quickly and she is highly motivated to make her humans happy. Kiki has a bit too much prey drive to be considered safe with cats.

Kiki has been in a home before and has excellent house manners. Unfortunately she was dumped at an animal shelter. We are lucky they called us so we could find her another home. She has been returned to the care of the excellent foster home who had her before she was adopted. Because she is a senior girl Kiki qualifies for a reduced adoption fee!! Kiki has a clean bill of health without any known problems from being a slightly-older girl.This is a great girl that comes already home acclimated. All she needs is a couch and someone to love her back.

Amy is a friendly, sweet girl that is so pretty! She is really white with only a tiny black spots on the top of her head and a tiny one by her eye. Most of the speckles you see are black spots on her skin and just show through her white fur. She raced in Jacksonville at 61lbs and her sire is EM's Mac Attack. Her dam is Rooftop Grannie and her birthday is January 15th. Amy is cat trainable and is doing well with the small dog in her foster home. She has also done well with the grandchildren visiting her foster home. Amy walks great on leash and seems like a calm, well behaved girl. She likes to play with balls and was comfortable enough to start playing as soon as she arrived in her foster home so Amy seems like an outgoing girl that will adjust very well to new situations.

Snowflake just retired from the Orlando track. She is a sweet, calm, black female that turns two on August 10th. She is a tiny girl racing at just 55lbs. We have been waiting on her to retire because she is a littermate to another dog we placed named Anderson Cooper. Her sire is Tony's Oracle and her dam is WMS Sprint Away. She is just a bit timid at first but warms up quickly. She is still very young so enjoys playing. She loves toys! Snowflake is quiet and well behaved and stops doing anything you don't want her to do with just a "No". She passed her cat and small dog tests at that track and has been great with the small dog and the child in her foster home. She is such a pretty girl with a gorgeous shiny coat!

Tucker is a very light fawn male with light colored tips on his fur that the folks at the track referred to as "champagne colored". He is a tall guy that raced at 76lbs. His birthday is March 25th and he is 2 years old. He is a Kiowa Mon Manny Pup so is half brother to some other dogs we have adopted out. Tucker is a super friendly, happy boy that has a tail that wags most of the time. He gets so excited to see everyone and bounces happily which can be a little overwhelming for toddlers and younger kids. He likes kids but is a little too enthusiastic to see kids sometimes so we think he should live with older kids only. We are working on teaching calmer greetings.  Tucker is very young at just two and greyhounds tend to mature slowly so he still has a lot of fun pup in him. He was very bad walking on leash when he arrived because he is strong, curious and wanted to check everything out. He is much better now but still needs some reminders when he gets excited. He has done great with the small dog in his foster home and others he has met so would probably do fine in a home with smaller pets. He also passed a couple of cat tests with no interest. Tucker is always happy and seems like he will make a fun pet for some lucky family. He is quiet in his crate and potties quickly on leash so may be OK in an apartment or townhouse. He is young and still pretty energetic so will need to go to a safely fenced area to run a couple times a week or he will need to go on walks or jogs to drain his energy if he doesn't have a fenced yard to play in. Tucker wants to please and readily offers behaviors trying to figure out what you want him to do. He already has learned lay down in his crate on command before being let out. He picked up on potty training right away. He really shines at meet and greets and goes up to each person that comes by giving kisses and leaning into them for love. If you want a happy, friendly, waggy, young boy this is the guy! RIght now his personality is more lab like than greyhound like. Such a sweet guy!!

Kia is a red brindle girl that actually grins when she is happy or excited. She is a tiny girl that raced at 55lbs and she just celebrated her 4th birthday on May 11th. We met her at the racing kennel in Orlando awhile back and just fell in love with her sweet, calm but friendly personality and that grin was just the most precious thing! We told them we wanted her when she retired. She is a Lonesome Cry daughter so half sister to a bunch of dogs we have placed. She did not pass her cat test at the track so will need a home without cats but she did fine in a foster home with a small white dog so should be OK living with small dogs. Kia seems to like her crate and goes in on her own and is very quiet in her crate. She also potties great on leash so may do well as an apartment or townhouse dog. She did great at a recent meet and greet with everyone she met but seemed to be most drawn to older women. She plays gently with toys mainly carrying them around. This is a sweet well behaved girl.

Rocky is a tall male that raced at 76lbs. He is a gorgeous blue brindle that is just a little timid but just at first. He did great at his first Petco meet and greet and was approaching people for love. He seems to want to be near people but is just a little cautious at first. He is very young and won't even turn 2 until September 14th so he still has some puppyish behavior. Rocky seems like a pretty calm guy for one so young though. He is very curious about everything new but is learning his house manners. He seems like he would do well in an apartment or townhouse because he is very quiet in his crate and likes his crate. He us a super sweet guy! His sire is B's O'Grady and his dam is Scare De Cat. He passed his cat and small dog test with no interest so should be fine in a home with either.

Catfish is a tall, thin brindle boy that raced at 73lbs. He is all legs. He just retired from the Jacksonville track and is a sweet, calm, friendly, happy, boy. He needed a little work on leash because he pulled some but is already doing better. They said he was a calm, well behaved guy at the kennel and so far that is what his foster home has found. Catfish's sire is the very famous Kiowa Sweet Trey so he is related to a bunch of the dogs we have placed. They all seem to be exceptionally sweet. His dam is KB's Turbo Toes. Catfish will celebrate his 3rd birthday on August 1st. Hopefully he can celebrate his birthday in his new home. Catfish passed his cat test with absolutely no interest in the cat and ended up being OK with the guinea pigs in his foster home with a few reminders. He is living with a small baby in his foster home and seems to be fine with her too. This tall guy is just stunning and so sweet! His foster home has taken him jogging and he seems to enjoy that. He is starting to play with toys now and his playful side is really coming out.

Town just arrived from the Wheeling track in West Virginia. He is an extra large male that raced at 83lbs. He was a very good racer and has a 101 races to his credit and raced at one of the top tracks. Town is friendly, calm and well behaved. This pretty red boy is a son of Flying Hydrogen who is a famous stud dog that one of our board members adopted. Seems like he inherited his dads wonderful sweet laid back personality and good looks. They couldn't be more alike. Town's birthday is April 20th and he is 4 years old. Town has been settling in to his foster home with no problems whatsoever. He crates willingly and quitely and is so well behaved. He passed his cat test with only a quick sniff so should be fine living with cats and small dogs. Town is a typical lazy laid back guy that naps a good part of the day. Doesn't seem to be bothered or annoyed by anything and gets along well with others.

Melody is a 56lb blue female that just arrived from Orlando. She was brought in especially for one of our foster families that had been waiting on her to retire. She is a sweet friendly girl that seems very outgoing and social. She is calm and sweet and seems like she will be an easy girl that will not cause any trouble. So far she has been very well behaved in her foster home and if she continues fitting in so well she will definitely be staying. Melody turns 3 on August 12th and her Sire is the famous Trent Lee.

Shelby is a white and red girl that raced at 64lbs. She will turn 4 on July 24th. She tested cat trainable at the race track. Her sire is BIg Monday and her dam is Noah's Pollywog. She just arrived from the Jacksonville race track and was picked out by her new family. She is supposed to be a calm, sweet, friendly girl.

Nitro just arrived. She was a return that was adopted through another group years ago. She was returned due to a divorce and not for any behavioral reasons. She is home acclimated, calm and well behaved so should make a wonderful pet. She lived with small kids and other pets in her former home so should be fine in a home with either. Nitro just turned 7 on May 29th. She is a daughter of the famous Flying Penske so is a half sibling to quite a few dogs we have adopted out. She just had a fresh dental and is ready for her new home.

McKinly raced at 71lbs and is a gorgeous white boy with big black spots. His birthday is July 11 and he will turn 3 then. He recently retired from the Sanford Orlando Race Track. His trainer described him as very friendly and calm. He is a Jimbo Scotty pup so is a half brother to quite a few nice dogs we have adopted out. McKinly is adjusting very well to foster care and is a quiet, sweet loving boy that is very laid back. He is good with other greyhounds and passed his cat and small dog test so should be good to live with either. He is great on leash too. Seems like this guy is going likely to be a wonderful easy addition to just about any home. He has been wonderful in his foster home and is very well behaved. Great with the 4 kids in his foster home.

T raced in Orlando. He was actually a pet there that hadn't raced in over a year and had been living with his race trainer. Because of an illness in her family and serious financial problems she was forced to give T up. T is a sweet, friendly, red guy that raced at a very large 82lbs. His birthday is July 6 2007 so he is almost 5. He is a very special guy for a trainer to pick him out of all the dogs that come through the track kennels to keep as a pet. His sire is Flying Hydrogen who one of our board members just adopted so the lucky family that gets T will be able to meet his dad too!! He is a sweet, laid back, well behaved boy that is gentle and wonderful with kids and would be excellent in a home with small dogs since he has lived with them before. He is friendly and gets along with everyone. He passed his cat test at the track but has shown some interest in cats he has met but we think he may be trainable. This is a great guy that is SO sweet!!

Stimulus is a very large, dark brindle male that raced at 80lbs. He has the most beautiful, shiny, dark mahogany looking coat and is just stunning with his white feet and chest. He is a calm but friendly boy that just celebrated his 3rd birthday on April 4th. His sire is the famous Dodgem By Design so he has a lot of half brothers and sisters that we have adopted out. He is a littermate to another dog we just adopted out named Eureka. Stimulus let himself out of his run to join his sister Eureka at the vet clinic. He was out all night with the vet clinic cat and didn't chase him or hurt him. He passed his cat test at the track and subsequent cat tests that we have done. In the middle of all of these very positive results with cats he did become interested in chasing cats he met in one home. It was only that one time and was definitely because he had gotten excited by chasing toys right before being introduced to the cats. We have him listed as "trainable" because of that even though he has shown no interest whatsoever in cats before or since. Stimulus did great at a meet and greet at Petco and seemed to enjoy all the attention. He has started playing with toys in his foster home and will throw them and chase them. He lives with a tiny dog that is squirrel sized and fast moving in his current foster home so seems like an exceptionally low prey drive dog that would be good in any home. He likes the kids he has met and seems like he would be a wonderful family dog. He is a big guy but he is gentle, calm and well behaved so seems like he will be an easy guy that would make a wonderful family pet. He has been living with a very small dog and a large bird in his foster home and is fine with both of them now.

Hot Dog came from the track adoption kennel in Jacksonville Florida and he raced at 67lbs. This is a friendly, happy, calm boy that has been very well behaved since he arrived in his foster home. He is a grinner and will happily grin up at you when happy or excited. He is a gorgeous black male with white socks and a white chest. Very flashy! Hot Dog was born Nov 17th 2005. He was a very successful racer that won a lot of races and raced a long time. He crates well and quietly so might be OK as an apartment or townhouse dog. His foster mom was sick recently and he layed right by her side the entire time watching over her. He is just so sweet! He is very good with children.This is a dog that was suggested to us as one that would be a good family dog because he has been around the children of his racing trainer often and was very good with them. Even though he is calm he does have a silly side and is likely to play bow to you trying to get you to play with him. The play only lasts for a little while because Hot Dog is a typical greyhound couch potoato. Hot Dog needs a home without cats. He has been fine with the small to medium sized dogs he has met at meet and greets. He loves to play with other dogs though so might do better in a home without very tiny dogs just because he might accidentally step on one when playing. Typically our non cat friendly dogs take months longer to adopt than our cat friendly ones. If you do not have cats please consider adopting one of our sweet non cat safe dogs like Hot Dog.

Gavin is a gorgeous guy that turned 3 on Nov 4th. He raced at 76lbs. He is doing well in his foster home with the small dogs and cats there so would be excellent for a home with small animals. Gavin loves playing with toys and the other dogs in his foster home. Although he is very shy, he warmed up to his foster family quickly and is very loving with his foster family. His trainers at the racing kennels said that he became very affectionate once he got to know them too and was only very shy initially. We think that a home without young, noisy children would be better for Gavin because of his shyness. It is only because of his shyness, Gavin is such a sensitive, gentle guy that we are sure he would never harm anyone or anything. While he has warmed up to his foster family quickly, he still tends to run away from visitors and people he doesn't know, so a quiet home without a lot of visitors and activity would probably suit him best. Gavin is likely to always be a real homebody that will be nervous out of his comfort zone. New things just make him very nervous. Because timid dogs tend to bolt when scared Gavin's ideal home would have a safely fenced yard for him to play in. Gavin's shyness is caused by not being handled by new people and exposed to new things as a puppy during that brief socialization window. He was never abused in any way and actually was very attached to his trainers. Gavin wants his family to know that even if he gets nervous and runs away the first time he meets them, he has a lot of love to give if they will just give him a little time to come out of his shell. Gavin is SUCH a sweet, loveable guy and is just gorgeous. If you have patience and a little time Gavin will reward you with all of his love. This is such a sweet, gorgeous, well behaved boy! At her most recent racing kennel they called her Gazelle, but at a previous racing kennel at another track they called her Monica. We will have to see which name she seems to know. She is a small girl that raced at 57lbs. She turned 3 on April 18th and is a brindle female that just retired from the Orlando race track because of a minor muscle pull which is completely healed now. While she was at the vet she got a leg caught in a dog run and had to have some additional stitches so is recovering from another injury now. She is not limping from her most recent injury but does have a small open spot on her leg that was not able to be stitched so that has to be healed over before she can be adopted. Monica is outgoing, sweet, and cute with enough playful energy to keep up with an active family. Kissy sounds and any attention at all will send her into wiggles of pure joy! This is a tiny little girl that LOVES everyone she meets! She is a Deerfield Site daughter. Here is an old photo that was taken of her last year at the track. New photos coming soon!!

Toy just celebrated his 2nd birthday on March 7th. He is a brindle male with gorgeous golden eyes that raced at 76lbs. His Sire is Heart Rumble. He passed his cat and small dog tests at the Orlando track and has been fostered with a cat that he is fine with. Toy seems like he is just a bit shy at first but is one that will warm up fast. He has done well at meet and greets and is warming up. He seems to be fine with the kids that have been around him at meet and greets although he doesn't have children in his foster home. So far he has been a very good boy that will make an awesome pet.

Molly is a gorgeous, red girl that is very friendly. Her sire is Gable Tobasco and her Dam is Bee Bee. Molly will celebrate her 4th birthday on June 23rd. She is a very tiny petite girl. Her trainers said she was sweet and well behaved at the track and she has been that way in foster care as well. Molly is good on leash and rarely pulls. She is sweet and friendly and always greets you with a wagging tail and is happy to see you even if she barely knows you. She is great at meet and greets calmly going from one person to another to greet them. At a recent meet and greet she curled up with her head on her foster dad's lap and went to sleep. This was at a very noisy convention center with a lot going on around her. She seems like she will be pretty comfortable in just about any situation. She has gotten along well with the other dogs in her foster home and seems to just have a sweet happy go lucky personality. This is one stunning girl too! She was too interested in chasing the cat to pass her cat test but has been OK with small dogs in two foster homes. Molly doesn't potty on leash well so must have a home with a fenced yard to potty in. She just needs a little privacy to do her business and needs to walk around a bit to find the perfect spot. This is a super sweet girl that will be a great pet. Because she is not cat safe Molly has been in foster care longer than others which is typical. If you don't have cats in your home please consider adopting one our non cat friendly dogs like Molly.

Squirrel just arrived and is a white boy with a little brindle on his ears and two brindle patches on his back that look almost like wings. He is friendly, calm and sweet according to his trainers at the track. He will celebrate his 3rd birthday on May 20th. He ended up passing his cat test at the track on the second try but was interested in the cat the first time they met so we have him listed as cat trainable. Squirrel's sire is CTW Plaza Rio and he raced at 77lbs. Squirrel's foster family has fallen in love with him and decided to adopt him.

Squirrely was a member of the Hounds of East Fairhaven and performed at the Georgia and Carolina Renaissance Festivals. He was taken from us too young when he got hit by a bolt of lighting that hit his house during a bad storm. He will be missed by all his fans. 

Adin is a small brindle female that raced at 57lbs. She passed her cat test at the track and has paid no attention to the cats or small dogs she has met since she arrived. The small dog in her foster home loves her and goes into her crate to lay beside her. She turns 4 on June 18th. Her sire is the famous Flying Stanley which makes her a half sister to quite a few sweet dogs that we have placed. Adin is happy, sweet and very outgoing and seems like she will be an energetic, fun greyhound. "Energetic" for a greyhound still is just short bursts of playfulness - just enough to be fun and cute. Greyhounds are really low energy couch potatoes. Adin is smart and level headed and has picked up potty training right away. She pulls some on leash in her happiness to see things and visit with everyone so we will be working on that. So far she has adjusted to her foster home quickly and has been the BEST foster! She gets along great with the other dogs, had no accidents inside, and has started playing with stuffed animals. Nothing seems to bother her and she does great at meet and greets and greets everyone happily.

Nadia Comaneci is named for a very famous gymnast and was a good racer herself. She raced stakes races against some famous dogs like Pat the Hammer - a dog that we placed. Her birthday is September 22 2007 and her sire is Lonesome Cry. She raced at 68lbs so is a larger girl. Nadia has quickly settled in to life as a foster. She is a sweet happy friendly girl and is quickly becoming a favorite of her foster family. She loves toys especially stuffed animals that have squeakies in them. Nadia has crated quietly and has been very well behaved in the house and with the other dogs. She passed her cat and small dog tests so should be fine in a home with either and has been good with the children that she has met. Seems like a great little girl that would do great in just about any situation.

Ally is really large racing at a very unusual (for a girl) 75lbs. That is considered pretty large even for a male. She is just a little timid initially but seems like she will warm up with time. She is friendly and wags but tends to get a little freaked out by fast movements and loud noises. Alibi seems to be a little more nervous around men than women at first. She will turn 4 on September 24th. Ally has the same mother as one of our recently adopted dogs, Intern, and her sire is the famous Flying Stanley which makes her a half sister quite a few dogs we have placed. She is doing great in her foster home and other than being a little nervous at first seems like she will be a great girl.

Potzy raced in Florida at just 66lbs so he is a smaller male. He was a pretty successful racer that raced until nearly his 4th birthday, which was on October 7th. Potzy is very cute, mostly white with a few brindle patches and some freckles in his white fur. Potzy passed his cat test but was a little interested in the cat at first so will need some supervision with new cats at first. He passed his small dog test and is living in a foster home with dogs and cats. He is a friendly, happy guy that is very devoted to people and wants to be with his family doing whatever they are doing. He isn't shy or nervous and is very outgoing and loving. Potzy has great house manners and picked up on potty training without a problem. Potzy doesn't like his crate much and is vocal when left in one so would not be the best choice for an apartment or townhouse. He has been quiet and well behaved when left out of crate, even by himself.

Cheyenne is a beautiful, brindle female that raced at 60lbs. She was born on June 8th 2008 so is 3.5 years old. Cheyenne is another daughter of the famous Dodgem By Design. She is a very sweet, friendly, loving girl. Cheyenne quickly became a very well behaved member of her foster home's pack. She is very bright and learns new tricks and routines with ease. She crates quietly and doesn't whine or bark in her crate so may be OK in an apartment or townhouse. Cheyenne is not a total couch potato like some greyhounds and does have enough energy to be a fun, playful girl that will want to do whatever you are doing. Because she learns quickly and wants to please and has some energy we think she would be a great greyhound for agility or obedience or maybe someone that hikes, walks or jogs. She would do great with another dog that wanted a playmate. She is such a loving, happy girl and likes kids so should make a great family dog. Because of her higher prey drive Cheyenne is not going to be safe with cats. She does respond to correction and really wants to please her humans in all things so might be trainable but we chose to list her as no cats just to be safe. During her time in foster care we have been introducing her to a variety of small dogs and she seems like she is going to be OK with them and she played very nicely with a sheltie. We will be glad to introduce her to any small pets you have and evaluate her with them. Cheyenne has been with us in foster care longer than any other foster at this time (since Nov 2011) only because she is not cat friendly. Our non cat safe dogs tend to take much longer to place even when they are sweet, gorgeous and very well behaved like Cheyenne. If you don't have cats please consider adopting one of our non cat safe dogs like Cheyenne.

Jojo is a cute little girl that raced at just 55lbs. Her sire is Tony's Oracle. She was born on 10/1/09. She is mostly white with some black freckles in her fur and a couple of black patches over her ears and eyes. She is waggy and happy and her cute curly tail may end up being a blur in some of her photos. Jojo is a great girl that gets along well with people, other dogs and kids. She is young so is still pretty active and loves to play with other dogs. She passed her initial cat tests but has been interested in chasing some of the cats in her foster home so she would need to be tested with individual cats in whatever home she was going to. Cats with claws that are used to dogs and let the dog know who is boss seem to be respected but ones that run away and are afraid are a little too fun to resist chasing.

Hit is a happy, waggy girl that is calm and well behaved. She loves kids and raced in a kennel that had small kids in it frequently and was great with them. She raced at 60lbs. Hit celebrated her 4th birthday on March 6th. Her sire is the famous Lonesome Cry! Hit is a loving little girl that seems like she will make a great pet because of her calm, easy going personality. She passed her cat test at the track but has been a little interested in some of the cats she has seen since. She seems to respond well to correction so we think she is trainable and will be glad to evaluate her with your specific cats. She is good with small and large dogs so should be fine in a home with other dogs. Hit did have a broken hock October 9th of 2010 that ended her racing career. She has completely healed since then but may always have a slight limp. She stilll loves to run and play and doesn't let the old break slow her down a bit. This cutie can still turn on the greyhound speed when she wants to. This is a wonderful little girl that is very well behaved and is going to be a wonderful loving pet for some very lucky family.

Cooper is a sweet, black male that is very young. He won't even turn two until August 10th. He is a smaller guy that raced at 64lbs. He did pass his cat test at the track and has shown no interest in a small white dog he met. He seems like a quiet boy that is a bit overwhelmed and might be just a little shy at first. He was friendly at the track kennel so he will definitely warm up though. His sire is Tony's Oracle so he is related to quite a few sweet dogs that we have placed. His trainers said he was a real nice boy in the track kennel and was well behaved. More as we get to know him.

Eureka is a beautiful dark brindle female that raced at 62lbs. She just turned 3 on April 4th. She is a happy, sweet, friendly girl that has made herself very comfortable in her foster home in just a short time. She seems like she will be laid back and well behaved. She is a daughter of the famous Dodgem By Design and is a littermate to another of our available dogs Stimulus. She is smart girl and managed to open the latch to her dog run at the vets office and got out to hang out with her brother Stimulus (who also escaped) and the clinic cat. The three of them were out together all night and the cat was unharmed so she definitely passed that cat test. She has paid no attention to the tiny dog in her foster home either but she did manage to get out of her crate one time so may be a bit of a houdini. This is such a cute sweet girl with the biggest, most expressive eyes.

Sally just arrived from the track in Orlando. She is a beautiful, small, red brindle girl that raced at 57lbs. She is happy, friendly and laid back. She passed her cat test at the track. Her birthday is July 1 2009 so she is nearly 3. Her sire is Deerfield Site. More as we get to know Sally.

Respect is a cute, sweet, black girl. She was born on Dec 11th and is 4 years old. She raced at 66lbs and raced over a hundred races and did pretty well. Respect is very friendly and gives kisses and is a real "people dog". She traveled with her head on the driver's shoulder on part of the trip up from the track. A very social, loving girl and so beautiful! Respect passed her cat test so should be OK to live with cats and is living with small dogs in her foster home. Respect prefers to be with people over other dogs so we think she would do fine as an only dog. She does play well with the two males in her foster home though. She has already learned to sit and down on command for treats. She also waits at the door before going out and waits patiently for her food at feeding time. She is a great eater and has no problem going into the crate. She has been quiet all night and is quick to do her business when she goes out and will potty on leash with no problem so might even be a good apartment dog. Respect seems great with handling and allowed her nails to be trimmed with no drama. Anyone looking for a calm, sweetheart of a dog should definitely meet Respect. What a cute cute little face!! Respect had a dominant female that was not fond of her although she has gotten along with two males in her foster home. So she may need a home without other dominant females.

Sally is a small red girl that raced at just 56lbs. She was a successful racer and raced for a long time. She turned 4 on March 7th. Sally passed her test with small dogs so should be fine living with them but was too interested in chasing the cats to pass her cat test. She just needs a home without cats. Sally has done great with children she has met and is a real sweet, loving girl that is going to make a wonderful pet. Sally is a TV star and was a guest recently on the noon news on channel 6. Look at her other photos to see her on TV! Sally is healthy and has been spayed and is ready for her new family. It looks like her foster family has fallen in love with Sally and she will be staying with them.

CC is a beautiful red brindle boy with white socks and white chest. He was one that we spotted on our last trip down to the kennel in Orlando and put on our list of dogs that we wanted sent up us when they retired. He was sweet and friendly when we met him and his trainer says he is always a good boy. He is a littermate to Nancy G Gracie and Michele Henry that arrived with him. His sire is Tony's Oracle and his birthday is March 28th 2010 so he just turned 2. He raced at 76lbs and passed his cat test at the track. More as we get to know him.

Intern is a beautiful red and white girl that raced for quite awhile then was retired to be a momma dog. She had a litter but has some problems having them and had to be spayed. Now Intern is retired from that life and ready for a couch of her own. Her birthday is August 11th. She is 5 years old and is a very sweet friendly girl. She travels well and gets along very well with other dogs. So far she has been fine with the tiny fast moving dog in her foster home and wouldn't even look at cats during her cat test. Her dad is the famous Kiowa Sweet Trey that always seems to throw very nice dogs. So far she is doing very well in foster care and plays with the other dogs there.

Jersey Girl is a tiny, red female that weighed in at 54lbs. Her birthday is Aug 20, 2009. She is very cute, outgoing and friendly with a tail that never quits wagging. She actually whacks herself in the ribs with her tail sometimes when she gets really happy. She passed her cat and small dog tests so should be able to live with either, She loves people and is already home acclimated. She is sweet and loving, corrects well and wants to please. She is has a lot of personality and is a fun girl. With that cute face and great personalilty we think she is awfully close to perfect.
