Kordell came to us directly from the West Virginia farm where he was born. He had an injury to his back when he was 3-4 months old. He got the injury when playing with other pups and his owner wasn't sure what actually happened. Kordell recovered, but his back has always looked a bit more bowed than most greyhounds. It isn't something most people would even notice. His owner knew he wouldn't be able to race, so he never went to training or to the race track. Kordell runs and plays and doesn't seem handicapped by his injury. Our vet says Kordell is healthy and his old injury is healed. Kordell is a very young guy that won't even turn 2 until May 31st. His sire is Top Of The Pile and his Dam is Fly Margorie G. Kordell has only lived on a farm and until recently hadn't ever been in a house. He has been a little nervous with all the changes he has experienced since he left the farm. There have been a lot of new experiences and living in house can be a bit scary. Kordell seems like he really wants to be with people, but can be nervous and cautious at first, especially with men. He seems to love children and women the most. He would love a home where he could live with a lady. Although Kordell normally seeks out attention from kids, he has gotten overwhelmed by too much attention long term. He was fostered with small kids in his first foster home, but he would probably do best in a home without kids. He loves visiting with kids in short spurts and will go straight up to kids he sees. Kordell passed his initial cat test easily, without any interest. He has been fostered with cats since, and he did get more interested in chasing or playing with them after he got more comfortable in his surroundings. He will need supervision at first with cats. Kordell did well when meeting a small white dog. He was good with the other greyhounds in his foster home and seems like he may need another dog to hang out with when his family leaves him. He barks and fusses, when left completely alone, so isn't going to be able to live in an apartment or townhouse. This is a great pup that is going to be a wonderful pet with some patience and more home acclimation. He is a mid-sized guy that probably weighed about 65lbs when he arrived, but should weigh at least 70 lbs. His racing owner says he tends to stay on the thin side and can be hard to keep weight on. Because Kordell lived outside on a farm and not in a home, he will need continued potty training. His foster home is working with him on that, but in a new home he will need to continue that training with supervision and use of a crate when not supervised. He is a smart boy that seems like he should pick it up everything pretty fast - there is just so much new to learn.
